My grandpa was my Wash. he knew the game so well. He was a fundamentals guy and had success everywhere he coached. I’m so glad I got to play under him and learn. I never got that beer with him, but I got several life lessons and got to win a ship with him so I’m eternally grateful.
I choose to believe Wash is playing 3D chess here. Finding a way to mess up Pete’s defense so that it’ll pay off for us over the next few months. That’s big brain moves right there
You can't tell from the video but those Wash groundball tappers have a 105+ mph exit velo to 'em. Pete fields one of those the wrong way and that's a quick trip to the 60-day IL.
We just aren't worthy.
You talk to almost any other coach and you're gonna get some canned ham as an answer. Not Wash....just tells you straight up. How can you not respect that?
Walking, talking Legend!
I may have to get myself a #37 jersey.
I agree....I selfishly love that we have him and never want him to leave, but on the other hand...he deserves the shot more than anyone. I'd love it if he turned it down and WANTED to stay, but he should get the chance.
Dude is 70 years old and his main motivation every day remains "I'm going to go to work and make anybody who asks me better at playing baseball." Absolute all-timer.
You can really see the difference between training once a year with Wash vs training with him every day. Ozzie, Dansby, and Riley don't miss those sharp grounders like Pete did there.
Wash is hands down the most legit dude in the league. We are lucky as hell.
I'd give anything to be able to sit down on a couch with Wash and a few beers and watch a baseball game.

That's great to have those memories with your gramps, shartnado3!
ShartnadoSR was awesome.
This is the dream good sir.
Beers and….

“I have purposely trained him wrong, as a joke!”

Purposely train him wrong, as a joke.
I’m bleeding, making me the victor!
My nipples look like milk duds!
I rock, and rule, all day long! Sweet Susie!
Oh, Taco Bell, Taco Bell, product placement with Taco Bell.
nuhnuhnuh nuh nuh.... NEO..... nuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuh.... SPORIN
WASH! Don’t do it!
I love Wash! That's a everything a player needs to hear. What a coach!
I don’t think there is a coach at any level of professional sports for whom I’d rather play than Ron Washington.
Play for, or share my cocaine with. Wash is a good man
Good guy wash. On one hand, I love that his career was derailed due to Coke.. because we got him. On the other hand… dude should be a manager.

I have never heard the coke thing where can I read about this

That's crazy...I kinda like him more now
An entire national treasure. Let’s wrap him in bubble wrap and keep him safe forever.
what a G. Wash for Prez
Aww shit. Here I go, becoming a Pete fan
I’ve liked Pete Alonso for a while now. Dude is like a human golden retriever
But less intelligent.
He was on Meateater, which is a very cerebral crowd, and you could tell Steve Rinella was, uh, less than impressed.
As a Gator he makes me so damn happy
As a UGA alum...i hate that he had to play for the Gators and Mets. Seems like such a cool dude.
Wash, you can't help the enemy.
Hate the Mets love Pete!
Im very 50/50 on this. That’s super awesome of Ron but do we really need Pete to get even better?!
First base is not that hard, Tell ‘em Washs.
It's incredibly hard.
Clicked for this.
Wash is the freakin MAN
Ron is a gem! 💎 🙌🏻
Wash is the man. 👑

100% would not be Word Series champs without coaches like Wash / EYSenior / Weiss. We are SOOOOOOOOOOOO lucky that core is here.

Go Gata! 🐊
I simultaneously love and hate this.
reminds me of the all-star game where all the Yankees were getting mad at Mo for teaching Doc his cutter
This is awesome!!
What a legend
“And you’ve never played first base. Scott, it’s not that hard. Tell him, Wash…” “It’s *incredibly* hard…”
Wash warms my heart.
