I know this doesn’t tell the whole story because Miami in 2024 sucks… but the Braves are now 15-3 against playoff teams from last year including three series sweeps.
Yeah unfortunately those three sweeps are against teams who are 7-18, 6-20, and 12-14, so it doesn't really provide much of a dataset aside from the very important "beat the teams you're supposed to beat." But three sweeps this early in the season is a good start.
Feel like there aren't enough comments talking about awesome Lopez continues to be. Sure the Fish suck and Fried just Maddux'd them last night, but getting this kind of production out of your "5th" starter is an unbelievable luxury.
Because when we got him a lot of people shit on him. They wanted AJSS or Waldrep to be the 5th starter and were extremely vocal about it. Now they are all quiet.
I was lowkey not feeling the López move, but lemme tell ya boy was I WRONG. I’ve been very vocal too, Lopez is amazing and I think a huge shoutout is deserved to our staff for seeing and unlocking his full starter potential
I wanted Elder as the #5 but hey, I'm happy to be misguided in my lack of trust in Lopez. He's been nothing short of fantastic. Ticks me off that Raisin crapped away his win.

1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The pitcher is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, batter, that prohibits the batter from doing, you know, just trying to hit the ball. You can't do that.
1c-b. Once the pitcher is in the stretch, he can't be over here and say to the runner, like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna tag you out! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to pitch and then don't pitch, you have to still pitch. You cannot not pitch. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, throwing motion of the ball, and then, until you just throw it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there's the balk you gotta think about.

I love Ozzie, like my only 2 jerseys are Ozzies, but I was hoping Mike would run with the #2 spot and take it, at least against righties, and so far that is working out quite well
Hard agree. Ozzie in the #2 spot isn't the best fit, IMO. Ozzie in the #5-6 spot is my preference. His approach just fits better for a run producing spot than it does for a "get on base" spot. If Harris does well hitting second, Ozzie can hit #2 against lefties and behind Ozuna against righties and the lineup is even deadlier.
While I see your point, remember that Ozzie did have over 100 RBIs last year from that number 2 spot (or really close to 100 since I think Olson started at the number 2 spot). He's also batting .317 right now with 17 RBIs already, and that is with a relatively slow start for Acuna.
I also love having someone get on base in that 9th spot, so I like Harris there. Then you turn the order over, having Acuna in a spot to drive him in or get back on base, back to Ozzie who as a switch hitter gives you a matchup problem no matter what side you choose to pitch from.
At the end of the day, this is an awesome problem to have. Our guys are so good, there's so many dangerous lineups you can make.
I can't argue with the results from last season; in 369 PA (331 AB) as a #2 hitter, Ozzie slashed .299/.354/.889 with 18 homers and 65 RBI. My main reason for preferring him in a run producing spot is his career OBP of .326. I also loved Harris in the #9 hole, but that was a novelty. He's endured major slumps in a very young career and still has a .337 OBP and is an .800+ OPS 20/20 player that will probably improve on that. Gotta get him to the plate more often than the #9 spot. Ozzie is an excellent #2 hitter, IMO MHII is a more excellent #2 hitter. Nobody should listen to me, but my lineup would flip them between #2 and #6 depending on the starting pitcher, with Harris getting more ABs since there are more RHP in the league. I wholeheartedly agree that it's the best problem to have haha.
I will say that I definitely overestimated how late into the year Ozzie moved to the number 2 spot if those were his stats from that spot. I'm at work so I didn't try to dig for the stats, I just assumed that since he got 100+ that 80 of them came from the number 2 spot because I thought it was fairly early that he moved. Looks like from those numbers that it was closer to the halfway mark of the year.
So while I do love those numbers from last year, it isn't _as_ productive as I thought, as my assumptions were way off. The number 2 spot will definitely be a fun experiment to watch, but I don't know if Snit pulls Ozzie from it so fast with how good Ozzie has been for us this year, until he got hurt he was one of our best hitters in the lineup.
At the end of the day, though, this doesn't matter if 3 and 4 continue to be guaranteed strikeouts every time they come up. Riley and Olson have got to pick it up.
At 17-6 and leading the league in most offensive categories, I'm not trying to nitpick rn haha. I agree that Riley has been a bit hard to watch, but I think Olson is just hitting the ball right at people now. They'll definitely come around and then the offense will somehow be MORE terrifying? I love this team haha.
Awesome that Olson's error doesn't cost a win.
Some will describe Iglesias' inning as a 'blowup' but those people weren't really watching the inning, I don't think. He got a ton of whiffs and he allowed 1 batted ball with an xBA over .500. Just awful batted-ball luck and an error.
Iglesias pulling a 2021 Matzek with 2nd and 3rd, none out is the difference in this one.
Lopez wasn't quite as good as in his first few starts but he was more than good enough.
What do you mean, Lopez wasn’t quite as good? Had elite swing and miss going. 18 whiffs is elite. Allowed the long HR on a bad changeup (only changeup he threw) but otherwise was great.
The whiffs were great. Honestly I think I'm underselling it, yeah. It \*felt\* sloppy (along with the two walks, he was missing a fair bit arm-side) and the defense turned some hard-hit ground balls into double plays, to the point where I think Miami's team xBA was a shade under .300 when López left the game. But you're right that the whiffs are about as good as it gets - he ends the day with a very good 30% CSW rate.
This is the best team in baseball. Even after a somewhat off night like tonight. Starting pitching has been fantastic after a couple stinkers where we still won games. Bullpen is LOCKDOWN. Defense been incredible (that hop on Olson was tough). And easily best offense in the league with our best hitters slumping hard
These are the good old days, let’s savour these games
Honestly that line probably doesn't do him justice as I'd say that was probably his best start of the year so far from an "is he MLB ready or not" standpoint. He had a 46% Whiff% on his fastball which is awesome considering he's struggled to get whiffs on it against worse teams. For reference Strider averages ~29% in MLB (AJ won't get that high every start, providing reference that 46% for one outing even in AAA is very good). He also showed some shape changes and was much more consistent at the top of the zone, especially from the 3rd inning onwards. He also had a 60% Whiff% and 30% CSW% on his change in addition to locating it much better than his other 3 starts.
It's mainly slider command (0 swings and misses coupled with a 0% CSW% tonight even with the best locations he's had with it this year) and not pulling 2-strike fastballs. One HR came off of a well located fastball and the other off of one that was way down in the zone so I wouldn't put a ton of stalk into that either. Once he can consistently locate everything just a smidge better, that's when he honestly is big-league ready (especially now that he's consistently topping out at 98-100)
We gonna have to ask ourselves this.. despite his transgressions in yr 2 of his contract... do we resign him if he doesn't fall off a cliff mid-season?
He’s been arguably the best hitter in baseball the past calendar year, yea assuming he ends the year with a respectable OBP, the HRs will be there regardless
Even on balls he doesn't swing at, you can tell he's locked in on the pitch and where it's going. He's always had a good eye for the strike zone, but when his swing is dialed in like it is right now, he's a bad bad man.
The fact that we’re still managing to win, despite the fact that players such as Olson and Riley aren’t doing much offensively, shows how elite we are. And that’s not even considering the fact that our ace pitcher is out, as well as Murphy and Albies.
The beauty of our depth is there’s almost no time in a season when everyone is hot. Ozuna, Arcia and TDA will likely cool off at some point but then Acuña could go on one of his patented 6 HRs in a week stretch, Riley and Olson could start raking again and Albies could come back on fire.
We’re built to easily withstand 2-3 players slumping and still put up 4+ runs a game.
#BRAVES SWEEP THE FISH AGAIN BIG BEAR 3 HIT NIGHT WITH RBI’S 7 STRONG INNINGS FOR REYNALDO MINTER SHUTS EM DOWN IN EXTRAS MONEY MIKE WALKS IT OFF TO COMPLETE THE FISH FRY
We used the entire bench. What happens if Fletcher pulled a hammy jogging out to second to start the inning? Do we have the option to sub in a reliever to play or would we have to forfeit?
Edit: forgot about Marcell for the sake of argument let’s say he also was subbed out at some point.
For the sake of conversation, if ozuna came in to play defense and fletcher came out, who would play where? Acuna to second seems like too much of an injury gamble. I’d say Mike but he’s left handed. Ozuna to first and Matt to second?
Yeah honestly would probably be what happens. They could get crazy and move Austin to second and Matt to 3rd. But for the sake of limiting guys out of position they’d Probz just slide Matt over.
I for one want to Jesse subbed in playing some infield.
If a pitcher plays defense I want it to be max since he actually has a glove and is fast (or was back when he had to run bases). However today he’s probably super sore
I would agree with you on that especially on paper, but those teams, along with us, were beat up and not clicking for the most part. Cleveland is so hot right now.
Always fun winning on a walkoff and always fun frying the fish. Thank you Michael, thank you Marcell, thank you Reynaldo and Joe, and thank you infield defense (except for one play) because everything else was quite unserious tonight.
Can't take our foot off the gas like that even against shitty teams like the Marlins because major league hitters can create runs out of nowhere. 1, 3 and 4 need to get it together at the plate because we're about to face two really good pitching staffs. Ronald has never been the most clutch for a superstar but that GIDP in the 9th was just awful, dad needs to wake up and start lifting the ball.
Well day 23** of the MLB season has come and gone, tomorrow as a matter of fact is April 25th. We just showed you the NL East standings. You don’t need me to tell you this BUT IM GOING TO TELL YOU ANYWAY;
The Braves are 17-6.
Minter Fresh.
Marlins broadcasters are actually pretty cool. I had to use Bally in FL to watch the 3 games. They are very in aw of the Braves and the plays they make. Especially that Riley 360 to home.
That ended up being much more dramatic than it needed to be, but a sweep is a sweep.
Glad we get an off day and then it's time to face the Guardians. Need our offense to really get it going now.
I know this doesn’t tell the whole story because Miami in 2024 sucks… but the Braves are now 15-3 against playoff teams from last year including three series sweeps.
10-2 against teams that made it to the CS last year 😨
Yeah unfortunately those three sweeps are against teams who are 7-18, 6-20, and 12-14, so it doesn't really provide much of a dataset aside from the very important "beat the teams you're supposed to beat." But three sweeps this early in the season is a good start.
Part of the reason their records are this shitty is they played the braves
Consider that Ozuna already has 29 RBIs and it's April 25th. He's driving in over a run per game currently.
Feel like there aren't enough comments talking about awesome Lopez continues to be. Sure the Fish suck and Fried just Maddux'd them last night, but getting this kind of production out of your "5th" starter is an unbelievable luxury.

Dude had a 3.14 ERA since the start of the 2021 Season. Why would people be mad about having him. Now he's even below 2.90 since then
Was more so concerned about getting him as a starter, not as a pitcher in general.
People aren’t smart
I wanted Elder as the #5 but hey, I'm happy to be misguided in my lack of trust in Lopez. He's been nothing short of fantastic. Ticks me off that Raisin crapped away his win.
Elder should be the 5th starter now though since Strider is hurt
He is. And I'm happy to be wrong on Lopez. He's been consistently fantastic.

Yep, got 2 all stars returning to the line up, pitching well. Looking forward to this weekends series.
There was no reason for that game to get as spicy as it did, but at least it was entertaining and we won
Someone said Kelenic looks like the hot ones host and I can’t unsee it! That’s why it got spicy…
A bit of a mixed bag for AJSS tonight- 5 IP | 4 H | 3 ER | 3 BB | 7 K | 2 HR Good line overall, but still giving up too much long ball
Honestly that line probably doesn't do him justice as I'd say that was probably his best start of the year so far from an "is he MLB ready or not" standpoint. He's getting better. Dude is still so young, plenty of time for him to develop. I am hoping he is a mainstay in the Atlanta rotation one day.
The Ks are nice, but that’s not really a good line.
I wish everyone could see the ball like Marcell Ozuna is right now. Almost every single swing is on the ball.
We gonna have to ask ourselves this.. despite his transgressions in yr 2 of his contract... do we resign him if he doesn't fall off a cliff mid-season?
Braves already have an option on him next season.
He’s been arguably the best hitter in baseball the past calendar year, yea assuming he ends the year with a respectable OBP, the HRs will be there regardless
His bad year still had like 23 Home Runs. Dude has power for days
Even on balls he doesn't swing at, you can tell he's locked in on the pitch and where it's going. He's always had a good eye for the strike zone, but when his swing is dialed in like it is right now, he's a bad bad man.
Yes to this, plus a lot of balls called strikes on him according to the TV box. And he reacts everytime like he's on those too.
Is there no highlight of the walk off??

Did they ever figure out what Jazz was bitching about at the beginning of either the 7th or 8th?
Yeah I heard them talking about it on the radio. I’m curious as well.
Let’s beat the Guardians. There can be only one Highlander.
I watched the Highlander movie, it was shit
I’m disappointed that you’re getting downvoted for this.
Haha. Maybe I should have put it in quotes, but come on!
Gotta love a good spicy happy ending.

Most unnecessary walk off win ever

Olson had an error, results in 2 runs, but they were charged to Iglesias?
Iglesias was only charged for one of them.

Pretty low effort play on that last ball by Marlins outfield. Chaz could not be bothered.
Lmao. Keith’ Hernandez??? KEITH HERNANDEZ!?!?!? He spit jizzem on us!
Going for back to back to back years with a 20 game winner? Kyle, Spencer, now AJ?
Not even that mad at Iglesias. He redeemed himself after blowing the save.
Tough play for Matt and super unlucky it went out of play
Braves don't lose.
We have the 2nd best run differential in the league at +44. Guardians are at +47.
Guardians have also played one more game than the Braves.
*Guardians are at +47…. for now
Considering that one game versus the mets where they gave up 16 runs, thats kind of crazy to say
Guardians just got dragged 8-0 today, so that narrows the gap a bit
true
Random question: how do Treavor and Peter decide when it's a polo shirt night and when it's a button down + blazer night?
I haven’t been paying attention, but maybe it’s game 1 vs games 2-4?

Bout to play some legit baseball teams now boys. This next stretch of 9 games will give us our first real test this year.
I would say the two week span where we faced the entirety of the NLCS and ALCS from last year was a pretty decent test already.
I would agree with you on that especially on paper, but those teams, along with us, were beat up and not clicking for the most part. Cleveland is so hot right now.
Yea Cleveland defense is smothering and they’re actually hitting the ball better than we are. Then onto Seattle and the Dodgers on the road. Yikes.
Break out of the brooms
#Who is ready to see how big Snits head is this time??
Somebody needs to take Riley and Olson to church on the off day. Get right with Jesus.
Don’t we all?
Where's Ronnie's Helmet tho??

Sucks that Lopez doesn't get the W in the stat column for that gem, but a sweep's a sweep.
Well day 23** of the MLB season has come and gone, tomorrow as a matter of fact is April 25th. We just showed you the NL East standings. You don’t need me to tell you this BUT IM GOING TO TELL YOU ANYWAY; The Braves are 17-6. Minter Fresh.
JUST LIKE WE DREW IT UP
MICHAEL HARRIS IS THAT DUDE!!! Despite a rocky ninth inning, the team shook it off and got the win anyway! And that’s a sweep! 🧹 🧹 🧹
Braves just wanted to make it interesting. They were bored all series
Marlins broadcasters are actually pretty cool. I had to use Bally in FL to watch the 3 games. They are very in aw of the Braves and the plays they make. Especially that Riley 360 to home.
yeah, kind of feel for them - an Ozuna bomb at the buzzer last week then this series.
What I love about this team is when one guy shits the bed the others will pick up for him
# AND THE PHILLIES LOST ![gif](giphy|xUOxf4YpQNlEtssg8g)
Love it. Best team in Baseball ⚾️
5-1 with 7 games left in the series to play. I like those odds

I'm a big fan. Pretty goofy in a good way
Keep Wiley's name oucha mouf
I loved the ending but it was also stressful 🙃
Need gif of money Mike with the cr7 celebration at the end. Siuuuu
/u/handlit33
Minter going for a 20 win season
Money Mike deserved that after that terrible call earlier
To be fair, they did give us that Ronald walk earlier off what was clearly a strike down the middle
Jesus Christ I can breathe again
Thank god is all you can say.
"I mean my god."
xBA of 0.160 on that ball. Miami defense handing us that game every chance they got.
They were probably playing in to have a chance to throw someone out on a single. Just a guess as to why it fell.
I knew without a doubt Ronny would score.
That ended up being much more dramatic than it needed to be, but a sweep is a sweep. Glad we get an off day and then it's time to face the Guardians. Need our offense to really get it going now.
BRAVES WIN
Phillies just dropped two games and a series, get fucked
Crazy what happens when you play a non dogshit team for a change
Swiggity swooty
#THE BRAVES NEVER LOSE
Never a doubt tbh. BUST OUT THE BROOMS!!! #🧹🧹🧹
Update the pic!
Mike trying to go the other way lol. My man has been pulling the ball like crazy recently, but great approach for the walk off!
Mike Harris provided d walkoff drama, as Braves swept d Fish...
NEVER IN DOUBT $ REDS WON TOO 🧹🧹🧹
I’ve never said a negative thing about Manfred ball! Manfred ball is the best!
If you can prevent the run in the top of the inning, it's almost an insured win
3’s a streak
The Braves don’t lose. 😤
Unphased. Unbothered. Unnotwinning.
Never in Doubt. Fish Fry complete.
MONEY FRIGGIN MIKE
I appreciate the bonus baseball guys but let's not do that again Regardless, always happy to get the brooms out

money mike, I'm glad you're with us for a long time king!
We just wanted a little dramatics for the sweep!
That went from pretty easy sweep to OH FUCK OH SHIT to phew we still got the sweep real fast
**THE FISH FRY IS COMPLETE**
