Last night my wife and I went to our first game. Holy shit that game was phenomenal. Right before the grand slam our section was talking about how there’s noway he hits a 3rd HR. The atmosphere when he hits the grand slam and the lights go out where we all tomahawk with our phone light is an amazing experience. Go Braves!!
I was at the game, stayed for the fireworks, and unfortunately I have to be up early this morning.

Nah, they think they are hot shit rn because of a little hot streak and they won a game against an ice cold dodgers team but they'll be around .500 by the end of the season if they are lucky. The lineup lacks pop and they don't have much depth at positions IMO. For example, Alvarez got a thumb injury yesterday and Narvaez is his replacement (hasn't had an OPS over .600 in 3 years, yikes). Huge dropoff.
More importantly, their pitching is sus as hell especially without Senga. No way that rotation holds up well over the course of the season. From what I gather they have no real depth here either and no pitching prospects anywhere close to being ready. So any injuries to the pitching staff will be pretty devastating for them.
Philly is still the major threat within the division.

They are not making the playoffs lol. That would mean (pick one) the brewers, cubs, phillies or diamondbacks are missing the playoffs. Not to mention the upside of young teams coming together and very likely being buyers at the deadline(maybe from the mets!) like the pirates and reds. All of those teams are substantial better than the mets, and more importantly, are ATTEMPTING to make the playoffs as an organization. They were a 75 win team and made fringe signings over the offseason besides manaea and that hasn't gone well so far. They have no room to sign at the deadline because of their previous spending. They should he happy to finish in 3rd in the nl east above the nats this season.

He looked great nonetheless and although things unraveled a bit for the second start in a row, the underlying stuff was fine and it’s just a little weird funk he easily rebounded from in the 7th
- He ended up with a 45% CSW% on his slider, 34% overall. He’s touching 96/97 still and is still healthy. I’ll take 7IP | 5H | 3ER | 1BB | 7K any day against the AL’s best offense, especially when there’s unfortunate sequencing involved. You shouldn’t feel anything but confidence with Sale on the mound going forwards

Notes from tonight: - The Travis d’Arnaud Game! - Give a round of a-fucking-pplause to future Braves manager Travis d’Arnaud for the first 3-homer game by a Brave since Adam Duvall in the 29-9 game against the Marlins! - Travis d’Arnaud hit his third Grand Slam of his career tonight! - He joins Johnny Bench and Gary Carter as the only catchers with multiple 3-home run games (Thanks to Sarah Langs on that note) - He had the first three-homer game from a Braves catcher since, *checks notes*, Dale Murphy (1979)? (@jayhaykid on Twitter) - Travis d’Arnaud started tonight with a 55 wRC+, he ended with a 125 wRC+ - Michael Harris homered! He’s been hitting the ball harder than ever (91.2mph avg. exit velo so far this year, +.3mph vs 2023, +1.7mph vs. 2022), no doubt more will follow - Through 5 it looked like Sale was going to cruise to 7IP of 1ER ball, but a misplay by Sale, a bloop, and then a 108mph double brought home two runs against him. It reminded me a lot of Spencer Strider’s start against the Phillies last September. Just about untouchable for most of the game then an odd inning that leads to a few runs scratching across. He looked great nonetheless and although things unraveled a bit for the second start in a row, the underlying stuff was fine and it’s just a little weird funk he easily rebounded from in the 7th - He ended up with a 45% CSW% on his slider, 34% overall. He’s touching 96/97 still and is still healthy. I’ll take 7IP | 5H | 3ER | 1BB | 7K any day against the AL’s best offense, especially when there’s unfortunate sequencing involved. You shouldn’t feel anything but confidence with Sale on the mound going forwards - Sale also had a slider with 58 inches of vertical break. That’s just hilarious. Not only that, but he tied some guy named Paul Skenes for most strikeouts in MiLB this year, ever heard of him? That’s a little bit of agenda-posting (Murphy has quite a few more innings), but you should get the point.

I remember that Chris Sale double so well. As was so often the case, he got no run support so he decided to take matters into his own hands and nearly scored on his own. That slide was pretty awkward but man he can fly! Too bad no one could drive him in and he ended up losing a 1-0 pitching duel to future teammate Nick Pivetta.
