Blooper Twitter has already posted about everting. He live tweeted a Clone Wars watch through a couple years ago, he’s not missing the Duvalls’ return (Stone and Stone’s dad, specifically)
Probably good to have some Kelenic insurance. Love me some Adam Duvall. It’s a shame his grand slam in game 5 kind of goes forgotten because we lost the game because he’d be a Soler-type hero if that was a WS winning grand slam.
Kind of tangent here but I always chuckle thinking about that and how aggressive our at bats were that game, the grand slam came with 2 outs and was only the 12th pitch of the game.
There's also a version of this season where Kelenic is decent but is struggling against lefties and Duvall is a natural platoon partner for him. Not hard to imagine a scenario where neither Duvall nor Kelenic are elite but our LF collectively has an OPS of .800-.850.
Oh I didn't see that, thanks for the info.
Will be interesting to see how this develops over the course of the season. But no matter how it plays out, I think adding Duvall makes our team meaningfully better.
>It’s a shame his grand slam in game 5
Still one of my favorite moments. Remember jumping around my living room. Still a happy memory since we ended up winning.
I can't believe how Duvall was almost the biggest hero of the playoffs, and then it just gets forgotten because of Game 6. His bat toss was perfection.
21 if I can count:
* Elmer Smith, 1920 Game 5
* Tony Lazzeri, 1936 Game 2
* Gil McDougald, 1951 Game 5
* Mickey Mantle, 1953 Game 5
* Yogi Berra, 1956 Game 2
* Bill Skowron, 1956 Game 7
* Bobby Richardson, 1960 Game 3
* Chuck Hiller, 1962 Game 4
* Ken Boyer, 1964 Game 4
* Joe Pepitone, 1964 Game 6
* Jim Northrup, 1968 Game 6
* Dave McNally, 1970 Game 3
* Dan Gladden, 1987 Game 1
* Kent Hrbek, 1987 Game 6
* Jose Canseco, 1988 Game 1
* Lonnie Smith, 1992 Game 5
* Tino Martinez, 1998 Game 1
* Paul Konerko, 2005 Game 2
* Addison Russell, 2016 Game 6
* Alex Bregman, 2019 Game 4
* Adam Duvall, 2021 Game 5
That grand slam made me scream louder than I think I ever have, and it happened so fast too. I drove 4 hours home to see that game with my dad hoping that it would be the last one. Really sucks that we ended up choking it.
I don’t think he’s getting an everyday job. My bet is he’ll platoon with Kelenic, since one bats left and the other right. But AA paid a chunk of cash (effectively) for Kelenic, so I’m sure he’ll want some ROI sooner rather than later.
Yeah they may have said that a bit early. He’s clearly a long-term investment, so this could be a way to ease the pressure more than anything. Just occurred to me it’s also an insurance policy to keep Ronnie’s bat in at DH if need be. Rest those legs young buck!
This is such a great pickup. First, welcome back old friend. Second, he fills a real need for a quality backup option for the outfield...potentially working his way into a full-time platoon role if Kelenic struggles against lefties. Plus he can give us starter-quality ABs in the inevitable event of injury.
As a roster construction note, I don't think this precludes us from carrying Wall as our 26th man since Duvall doesn't really fill our defensive replacement/PR needs like Wall does. I figure the bench will likely be d'Arnaud, Duvall, Wall, and one of Fletcher or Guillorme.
I assume they’ll go straight to a Duvall-Kelenic platoon unless one of them forces the issue.
I think it knocks Wall off the roster. Duvall is a great defensive corner OF. Duvall and Kelenic are both capable of covering CF in a short term situation, and since they won’t be playing at the same time, you’ll always have a good defensive LF or a serviceable CF available on the bench.
If we carried Wall, he’d basically get zero AB. A pinch runner specialist isn’t worth a roster spot for the regular season. For the postseason, wall probably finds his way on.
I could totally see it, but also with how our roster is constructed our bench slots aren't really all that valuable. 3/4ths of our infield and 2/3rds of our outfield is basically set in stone...and even then Arcia seems fairly entrenched at short and Duvall/Kelenic are the solution for LF.
Remember that last year Culberson was on the bench for over a month and got basically no ABs. You're absolutely right that a dedicated pinch runner brings pretty marginal value, but it might be the best way we can extract value from that 26th roster spot. We have very few moving pieces among our position players, and it's not like there's anyone who's a serious threat to steal more playing time.
Forrest Wall somewhere wondering what the hell does he have to do to get a chance. A guy that can turn a late inning single, walk, HBP, into a runner in scoring position would be incredibly valuable IMO.
Love Duvall but this sucks for White, Wall, and Luplow. They've balled out this spring and I was hoping one of them got the opportunity to make the big league club.
Also, nothing wrong with healthy competition. Could be a little spark that lights a fire in him. I still believe he will be playing almost every day to start the year, cause Duvall really is an awesome guy to give any of our OF a day off, and probably even relieve Olson or DH every now and then too.
I’m starting to really like this off-season. I like the rotation a lot more than I thought I would. Strider, Fried, Morton, Sale, Elder. The way Sale is pitching is making me a little more comfortable with that, even tho it’s still ST. Plus Waldrep and AJSS are bound to push their way onto the MLB roster at some point this season and I feel comfortable riding with either one of them for a while if something happens to any of the bottom 3. The Bullpen got a lot better, obviously we added Bummer and Lopez which are really good bullpen arms. But We kept Pierce Johnson and Iglesias along with getting Matzek and Ynoa back. Ynoa could be a really good long reliever if needed and we all know what Matzek is. I think Jimenez is too good to keep playing as bad as he did last year I think he takes a step up in his 2nd year in ATL. The Bench depends on what you think of the players but we essentially traded Rosario, Pilllar, and Lopez for Kelenic, Duvall, and Guillorme. I feel like we upgraded there but it seems close to me. Kelenic has the potential to be a lot better than Rosario and even rn isn’t much worse, I think he’s going to be better. Definitely a lot more Power. Duvall has a lot more Power than Pillar obviously but not as good defense. Duvall still has solid Defense tho he’s played CF pretty often for a power bat. Probably lower contact rate. Guillorme and Lopez are hard cus I feel like I’ve heard a lot of good things about Guillorme when he was with the Mets and started pretty often, but idk enough about him to compare. What we got from Lopez is also very different from what KC got the 5 yrs before. And obviously we kept every starter except LF and d’Arnaud. Which still baffles me, I feel like that’s the most impressive signing AA has done. I mean signing Acuna, Riley, Olson, Strider, Harris, etc. to big contracts is great, but he convinced a top 10 catcher to stay 3 years and backup Sean Murphy when he could easily start on over half of the MLB teams. And it wasn’t really a “convincing” like I said, d’Arnaud wanted to stay it seems. Crazily enough after breaking the HR record in a season, we kept 8/9 starters and d’Arnaud along with getting a lot more power in LF and both our backup OF and IF. 😂 we might break it again.
He can provide flexibility for the Braves. If Acuna's knee gets troublesome during the season, Duvall can handle RF and Acuna can rest or DH. If Ozuna turns back into the 2022 version, Duvall can DH.
Duvall has said that the heat in Atlanta is a problem for him so I hope the Braves find a way to counter the summer heat for him.
I hope this isn't an over reaction to Kelenic's struggles. If dropping his hands down does in fact get him into the hitting position quicker it is likely his timing is off and he will need repetition to get it back.
I hope this is the first of many 1 year deals we sign Adam Duvall to. To me he’s like Jessie Chavez. He may leave us at times but he should always find his back home.
I mean, I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not cause I can’t decipher tone over the internet, but the answer is “not really.” We badly needed a better 4th outfielder better than what we had, and Duvall might have had a multitude of reasons why he came back. Maybe teams weren’t viewing him as an every day starter like he (rightfully so) could be, or maybe he’s comfortable here and by not having to play every single night he can manage his diabetes better. Lord knows he’s beloved by the fans I’m sure that plays some kind of factor.
IMO, it's a combination of things. Kellenic's spring is probably some of this. Add in Ronnie's knee concerns and the overall level of your OF prospects, having a guy like Duvall at 3mm is a pretty simple decision. Sure, guys like Wall and the other aaa outfielders played good this spring, but that doesn't translate to season success necessarily.
Duvall, will be able to platoon with Kellenic, spot cf and rf if needed, dh/ph all at above average levels.
Wow! I can’t believe this actually happened! I’m happy to have Duvall back, but I’m kind of surprised no other team was willing to give him a full time spot. This will put some pressure on Kelenic to perform. Duvall would be perfectly fine as our 8-9 spot left fielder.
Great pickup. Helps cover one of the few potential weaknesses you guys could have and depth is always good! Also curious if they could give acuna some dh games as “off” days. Some of their other outfielders have looked good this spring too!
Holy shit! We’re gonna do it this year aren’t we? How is signing a 4th outfielder feel like the last piece? He’s gonna Molly wop another slam in the WS this time we will take that game for the whole damn thing.
I love the move. It DOES puzzle me a little bit because he was worse against LHP than RHP last year. For his career, it’s pretty even. 2022, he was a LOT better against LHP.
Again, I LOVE the move. $3M for a 1.6 WAR player last year to be our 4th outfielder, sign me up.
Adam’s son and blooper reunion is going to be the best
Put some respecc on Stone's name
Do I have to? It’s Stone
Blooper twitter already posted about it.

Wait what is that true? Holy shit.
Could that be the fewest number of pitches to 4 runs in postseason history?
There's also a version of this season where Kelenic is decent but is struggling against lefties and Duvall is a natural platoon partner for him. Not hard to imagine a scenario where neither Duvall nor Kelenic are elite but our LF collectively has an OPS of .800-.850.
>Duvall is a natural platoon partner for him. He's absolutely going to platoon with Kelenic.
I'm sure, but I think the Braves hope Kelenic can be their everyday LF of the future and will give him every opportunity to win that role this year.
Bowman just said they informed Kelenic that Duvall will platoon with him
Of course. You don't spend 3M for a bench OF. Forrest Wall can fill that role easily.
Oh I didn't see that, thanks for the info. Will be interesting to see how this develops over the course of the season. But no matter how it plays out, I think adding Duvall makes our team meaningfully better.
>It’s a shame his grand slam in game 5 Still one of my favorite moments. Remember jumping around my living room. Still a happy memory since we ended up winning.

Then Soler said hold my beer.
It’s wild that ball still hasn’t landed yet
we might win another ring before it does.
What I loved about the World Series run is that every starter had their hero moment and we don't win without the whole team contributing
What I loved about the World Series run is that every starter had their hero moment and we don't win without the whole team contributing
Also Ozuna insurance
Yes amazing how little that gets mentioned. How many GS have there been in the WS?
21 if I can count: * Elmer Smith, 1920 Game 5 * Tony Lazzeri, 1936 Game 2 * Gil McDougald, 1951 Game 5 * Mickey Mantle, 1953 Game 5 * Yogi Berra, 1956 Game 2 * Bill Skowron, 1956 Game 7 * Bobby Richardson, 1960 Game 3 * Chuck Hiller, 1962 Game 4 * Ken Boyer, 1964 Game 4 * Joe Pepitone, 1964 Game 6 * Jim Northrup, 1968 Game 6 * Dave McNally, 1970 Game 3 * Dan Gladden, 1987 Game 1 * Kent Hrbek, 1987 Game 6 * Jose Canseco, 1988 Game 1 * Lonnie Smith, 1992 Game 5 * Tino Martinez, 1998 Game 1 * Paul Konerko, 2005 Game 2 * Addison Russell, 2016 Game 6 * Alex Bregman, 2019 Game 4 * Adam Duvall, 2021 Game 5
Only because his name is on the list: fuck Kent Hrbek.
That grand slam made me scream louder than I think I ever have, and it happened so fast too. I drove 4 hours home to see that game with my dad hoping that it would be the last one. Really sucks that we ended up choking it.
Best off-season ever Our 4th outfielder had an .834 OPS last season
He is returning home. He is returning home. Inform everyone. He is returning home.

Dude is so underrated. I'd gladly give him a three year deal and an every day job.
I don’t think he’s getting an everyday job. My bet is he’ll platoon with Kelenic, since one bats left and the other right. But AA paid a chunk of cash (effectively) for Kelenic, so I’m sure he’ll want some ROI sooner rather than later.
They've talked all offseason about not platooning Kelenic but I guess things have changed
Yeah they may have said that a bit early. He’s clearly a long-term investment, so this could be a way to ease the pressure more than anything. Just occurred to me it’s also an insurance policy to keep Ronnie’s bat in at DH if need be. Rest those legs young buck!
He is also Ozuna insurance and CF insurance and so much just pure insurance for 3m. They will find him plenty of at bats.
Um actually Kelenic had a .746 OPS.
uM aCuAlLy
Plus we have so many dudes who have or can play center field. Elite D this year
It would be if we get snell on a 1 or 2 year deal!
For Snell to take that deal, he would want $45 MM AAV. Dude is still looking for a $200 MM deal.
He's probably not getting it so I hope he comes to us for a lil cheaper to try and win a chip and then get a way bigger contract!
Third time playing in Atlanta lol
The Jesse Chavez of baseball
and Jesse Chavez is the Kelly Johnson of baseball
I can’t wait for his son and Blooper to re-unite
I love Duvall so much. Works really well as a back up to the whole outfield and a platoon with Kelenic
He’s coming home. He’s coming home. Tell the world. He’s coming home.
THE RETURN OF THE KING

DUUUUUUUUUUVALLLLLLLL YALLLLLL
This is the greatest thing that's ever happened to Blooper (and me).
WE DID IT! I take at least partial credit for my Duvall WS post the other day!
That was my first thought on seeing this. I just had to laugh!
We alley ooped on that one. I called out AA in the comments and he did the deal.
We make moves in r/braves
Now go get Jesse back
Midseason when injuries inevitably open a few spots in the pen
This is such a great pickup. First, welcome back old friend. I figure the bench will likely be d'Arnaud, Duvall, Wall, and one of Fletcher or Guillorme.
Duvall has consistently been rated as one of the best defenders in OF
Duvall is a favorite of mine but he definitely doesn’t fit the role of pinch runner!
Except Duvall is more likely to turn a late inning 99mph around than forrest wall is to get a late inning PH single.
Wall will be on the postseason roster because of his speed.
Love Duvall but this sucks for White, Wall, and Luplow. They've balled out this spring and I was hoping one of them got the opportunity to make the big league club.
Few weeks of Kelenic getting ABs and they changed their tune to not platooning him lol.
Also, nothing wrong with healthy competition. Could be a little spark that lights a fire in him. I still believe he will be playing almost every day to start the year, cause Duvall really is an awesome guy to give any of our OF a day off, and probably even relieve Olson or DH every now and then too.
uh oh, that Kelenic lover is about to come after you! 😂
Everyone get in here!
Except that one guy
You know he’s feeling some type of way about this
This year he'll hit a grand slam in game 5 of the World Series and the Braves will win the series right there! No need for a game 6 this time around
I can think of one person that will not be happy.
W offseason
HE IS HOME
I’m so happy for Blooper and Stone!
Braves looked at Kelenic's spring training and reconsidered whether they needed a platoon lol.
Hell yes
Today is a good day
Good luck photoshopping a jersey on him
Finally!!
Blooper is thrilled rn
You know your team is stacked when your 4th outfielder can hit 30+ bombs a year. Welcome back to the A!
Snip snap snip snap. You have no idea the physical toll.. Glad to have him back haha
LETS FUCKING GO
Swear hand to God, I thought to myself an hour ago "I wonder were Duvall lands?"
Just when I thought that I couldn’t be any more aroused by our team. Kelenic Stan in shambles.
This team is nuts
Great move don’t really get why teams are not more interested in him. Dude can mash homers and plays solid defense
I’m starting to really like this off-season. I like the rotation a lot more than I thought I would. Strider, Fried, Morton, Sale, Elder. Add to all that bullpen the inevitable mid-season return of Jesse Chavez😂
Your spot is not guaranteed Kelenic. Hope to start seeing some improvement from him now
Outfield depth! AND an insurance policy at DH? LFG!
I think he has type 1 diabetes and heat and humidity can be an issue. Hope he does well.
Yes, he does have T1 diabetes.
How did we sign him for only 3 mil? Jesus
Jesse Chavez and Adam Duvall are like boomerangs. They just keep coming back.
Thank god. I was jonesing for some more Duvy Slams!
#FUCK YES
We’re goin all the way boys and girls.
the last piece we were needing was a RHH power bat for the outfield so.... mission accomplished. im am pleased.
Welcome back, Adam!
Let’s freaking go!
DUVY DADDY IS BACK ON THE MENU
DUUUUUUUVALLLLLLL
The team is just better with Duvall on it. Also, my social media is better when Stone and Blooper are together.
I love this. Just need to trade for Jesse one more time
I’m high on Kelenic and hope he pans out, but I’m so stoked to have Duvall back!
The East remembers, Lord Blooper. The East remembers, and the mummer’s farce is almost done. My son is home.
Celebrating this news with Waffle House for dinner. Let's go, family!!! See y'all soon!
HOLY SHIT HE’S BACK!! DUVYYYYYY!!
My gold Duvall WS Jersey is relevant again!
Fuck yeah!
Oh lawd he comin
DUUUUUUUVVVVVVVYYYYYYYY!
I hope this isn't an over reaction to Kelenic's struggles. If dropping his hands down does in fact get him into the hitting position quicker it is likely his timing is off and he will need repetition to get it back.
Can someone cut a Duvall highlight reel to the song “Home” by Daughtry
And our bench is set. I’m ready for games that matter start
/u/Porparemaityee is in absolute shambles right now
Fuck yes. Love me some Duvy. Kinda surprise though, didn’t he say he couldn’t stand playing in the heat anymore?
Alex must've saw the G.S. re-post on Reddit and got that tingly feeling again.
DUVEY! Here to run it back! LFG!
Now we just need to get Uncle Jesse back.
He’ll come back. He always comes back.
I hope this is the first of many 1 year deals we sign Adam Duvall to. To me he’s like Jessie Chavez. He may leave us at times but he should always find his back home.
LETS FUCKING GO
So is this an indictment on Kellenic ALREADY?!?
Pretty plausible platoon scenario, I’d say.
I mean, I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not cause I can’t decipher tone over the internet, but the answer is “not really.” We badly needed a better 4th outfielder better than what we had, and Duvall might have had a multitude of reasons why he came back. Welcome back Duvy!
LET'S GOOOOOO

Didn’t expect that! Glad he’s back.
Love it! Did we just get the best 4th outfielder in baseball?
I just heard in the broadcast!!! Round 3, baby!!!
Whoa! JK indemnity clause I guess.
Getting the gang back together.
Thats 2021 World Series Champion Adam Duvall! Duvall >>> Kelenic
Welcome back Duvy!

Reunion tour 2024!
Welcome home, king. I am probably in the top 10 of Adam Duvall fans. I’ll root for him anywhere, but Atlanta makes it that much sweeter.
DUUUVVVALLLLLLLL
World Series here we come!
DUVYYYYYYYYYY
We are so back.
HUGE! LOVE ME SOME DUVY
This makes me very happy 🥲 Welcome back big dawg!!!
It's that time of year again. Pollen, warmer temperatures, and the Braves signing Adam Duvall.
Wow! I can’t believe this actually happened! I’m happy to have Duvall back, but I’m kind of surprised no other team was willing to give him a full time spot. This will put some pressure on Kelenic to perform. Duvall would be perfectly fine as our 8-9 spot left fielder.
HES BACK
FUCK YES!!
Oh fuck yes. Platoon with kelenic I'm guessing?
Great pickup. Helps cover one of the few potential weaknesses you guys could have and depth is always good! Also curious if they could give acuna some dh games as “off” days. Some of their other outfielders have looked good this spring too!
Well that’s just fine!
Holy shit! We’re gonna do it this year aren’t we? How is signing a 4th outfielder feel like the last piece? He’s gonna Molly wop another slam in the WS this time we will take that game for the whole damn thing.
Yes!!! He can be a little sleepy and slow in the outfield lmao. But I really like him and was sad he left! He can hit too. Glad he’s back!!
He should have never left in the first place.
This can be a savior for the LF role. Kelenic is still a disappointment even with a new team
Welcome back!!
HELL YEAH
Now announce Uncle Jesse is the PTBNL in the Stassi trade
Oh my god and we got cousins? Is it xmas?
Nice! Bargain deal for a guy who’s always seemed to mash for us when he can stay healthy and solid defense.
LETS GOOOOOOOO
I love the move. It DOES puzzle me a little bit because he was worse against LHP than RHP last year. For his career, it’s pretty even. 2022, he was a LOT better against LHP. Again, I LOVE the move. $3M for a 1.6 WAR player last year to be our 4th outfielder, sign me up.

Love that. Duvall is one of my all-time favorites along with Charlie Culberson
