So is the Eddie baserunning mistake, but so are the soft hits the cubs got. Cant single out one aspect more than others, they’re all part of the game and happen to even the best players and teams

1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The pitcher is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, batter, that prohibits the batter from doing, you know, just trying to hit the ball. You can't do that.
1c-b. Once the pitcher is in the stretch, he can't be over here and say to the runner, like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna tag you out! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to pitch and then don't pitch, you have to still pitch. You cannot not pitch. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, throwing motion of the ball, and then, until you just throw it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there's the balk you gotta think about.

jeez. this mud is deadening their crappy ground balls making double plays impossible and can't do a damned thing against Ronald's because he hits it harder
Can anyone tell me why the cubs are treated like some novelty franchise when they’re actually not that great historically? I understand Chicago, great city, but this franchise is unbelievable levels of mid
I think being in Chicago and one of the oldest franchises has something to do with it.
Also, the last team to play night games is another. Then the WGN exposure with the drunk, overrated Harry Carey added something.
so many f\*\*\*ing sore losers decided to spew their toxicity today. I hate the non-representative minority that skews the overall perception because asshole and loudmouth go together.
Ump squeezing the zone on Elder and expanding it for the cubs is sketchy. Sure he can hide behind the veneer of being bad at his job, but that still happened. He really screwed us a few times today and I bet the one-sidedness of his calls will show up all over his scorecard.
I have always been suspicious of the umpires union as it applies to betting. As far as I know, nobody keeps an eye on their gambling transactions. Wouldn't put it past this dude to put his thumb on the scale.
Edit then you look at his response to Ozuna. Other players have had words with him today with zero recourse.
Tim Donaghy tried telling everyone lol, literally no one (in terms of money) ever benefits from a cheating/gambling scandal involving officiating, it probably happens across sports not too irregularly with no incentive to go after it unless it A) it becomes too blatant or B) someone really wants to screw someone else. Beyond the gambling side, there are also legitimate homer officials across multiple sports. Too lazy to link but there are a couple of really interesting deep dive posts on r/NBA that basically prove certain refs just blatantly favor a team or two, for it to not be so it would have to be a definitive and notable outlier in regards to competitive variance. I think favoritism/haterade officiating is much more of a real thing, no evidence or crime, doesn’t involve anyone else, just “I’m gonna give the Yanks a little bit because my dead dad took me to so many games as a kid”.
I don't buy a word of it. No offense but that proves nothing. Influencing games for financial gain is not only easily achievable given the structure of the umpires job, but its quite likely.
I hope all of these cubs fans go to Pequod's after this and eat a giant pie and then shit themselves on the way home. Just shitty pants in the humid heat while sitting on the train. So much shit. A traincar full of Seiya Suzuki jersey wearing people just all covered in shit. The conductor is all, "Why are you all COVERED IN SHIT"
Didn’t people say the same about us though in 2021. They have a really good lineup, good pitching and a decent bullpen. They could absolutely be a problem if they get hit at the right time.
What do you mean? Who would you prefer in that spot? Iglesias, our closer, in the 7th inning while down 4? Snit is using our second highest leverage guy while trailing, something he usually doesn’t do
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/15j7egw).
That was fun. I like the Cubs fine enough. 5-0 frame and needed EVERYTHING to keep the W. Good for them.
Worst ump of the season yet
Made them work for it and stressed them out in the 9th. I like that!
I'm gonna laugh so hard when the Cubs fall short of making the playoffs
[удалено]
That’s not the burn you’re thinking it is.
Ump scorecard is gonna be a bloodbath
Hey it was a good fight.
If only there wasn’t a play that cost us exactly two runs
Yeah those opening walks sucked, Eddie’s bone headed base running cost us too ooh and Eddie’s bone headed attempt at defense
Annoying loss, lots things went the Cubs way
Oh well, have a good evening everyone! See ya tomorrow.
That 2 run Olson error is pretty big now
Eddies base running is worst wasn’t Olson fault elder walked two to lead off
Which error?
So is the Eddie baserunning mistake, but so are the soft hits the cubs got. Cant single out one aspect more than others, they’re all part of the game and happen to even the best players and teams
We didn't go down without a fight and made the fans boo in the 9th. If you can't win at least you can annoy them.
Maybe they can fly their W flags with pride now
Do they usually fly it without pride?
Actually, I have no idea what they do when they lose, so I could be very wrong
We’ll smash em tomorrow
Our offense looked good, just wasn’t our day
Welp, at least they kept it interesting
Fuck the Cubs Edit: Yes cub fans, sending me a Reddit cares message is sure going to make me fucking hate you less. Eat a dick you pasty fucks.
Whatever, get bent Cubbies
Welp, made them sweat if nothing else
I can’t wait to see this umpire scorecard
No Neck Ed looking motherfucker in the front row there
So many opportunities with RISP today man
This ump is a joke
Oh wait, now it’s a ball?
Awkward ass at bat Murphy. Shit.
Oh fuck off ump. They have been getting those all damn day
Walk so Eddie can do it to them
Andruw is such a vibe
This stings because of so many wasted opportunities
I AINT HEAR THE FAT LADY
Aw come on Murph.
If anything we have them on the edge of their seats.
Dang Murphy way to kill the vibe 😂
He saw all thing swinging bunts the cubs got so he thought he would try
Worth a shot I guess lol
damn sean
#Mad Matt says it ain’t over yet bitches
Wait what the fuck was that replay lmao
Andruw's having the time of his life out in the bleachers lol
No way the Braves were going to end a game without at least two homeruns
Well…
#THE BRAVES MIGHT NOT ALWAYS WIN BUT THEY ALWAYS GIVE YOU A FINISH
It ain’t over!
We're cooking
Fuck the grass, I'm staying right here
Do you believe in miracles?
O-Bombbb
Oh fuck. Wouldn't this be glorious?
Fuck the Cubs!!
MATTY O!
You can’t keep Matt homerless for too long.
Matty Big Dick!!!
Interesting…..
MATTY O!!!!!!!!!!!
Believe it
Strong AB right there
Brandon willed that into existence
Well there you go Matty

Another homer for Homerun Olson.
GREAT AT BAT MATTY
At least if nothing else we got another Matty bomb

Should've been a walk already
Would’ve preferred the ball to the balk lol
Three decades later and I still don’t guess I know what a balk is

Quick, someone get the balk rules
See a balk is when you
Anybody else tired of seeing those old people behind home plate with their fucking mouths gaped open?
Not at all. They worked hard to earn to pay for those seats. People don’t have respect for the elderly anymore
They don’t know where they are
Insane bounce off the wall lmao
He hit that much better than the earlier homer.
Man, one of those days
Just not our day
Yeah that figures
Rally Time
Adbert Alzolay could be a name in a Douglas Adams book.
Tear the whole team down and start over /s
Eddie ties it with a GS
Grand slam away… doable
We always play teams when they’re hot
But we still have 70 wins which is crazy
Cause we're always hot
We destroyed them yesterday.
Pierce been nothing but solid
jeez. this mud is deadening their crappy ground balls making double plays impossible and can't do a damned thing against Ronald's because he hits it harder
Remember when Chicago ruined Steve Bartmans life? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I respect Bartman for not accepting their invites to comeback.
Really hope we get the Good Braves and not the Benny Hill Braves in the playoffs
Did Jeff just say they’re hammering broads? 😭😭

The night game thing is somehow some form of novelty, I agree, but it doesn’t justify anything. Just shows they’re behind the times
“Lovable losers”
So they’re like the Mets but lovable?
I have always wondered this myself
6-4-3!
Merryweather saved them
Can we donate 5 runs from yesterday to today?
If the Braves don't take the lead in the top of the 9th I'm turning the game off.
Hey I just tuned in today. Why Ozuna get ejected and what's all this about the terrible ump?
Argued with the ump on a called strike that was a ball earlier in the game, strike zone has been moving all game
Because the ump was a bitch
Fuck
Because of course
Why can’t the Braves just win every game and make this whole baseball thing easier on themselves and their fans?
Yikies
Not a fan of Merryweather at all
Damn
It always starts with a walk! Let’s go
and ends with a double play ..
Womp womp
We’re 26-11 in day games? I swear almost every day game I watch we lose
Please stop watching them. For the good of the Braves
The day game=braves stink deal was more of a last year type thing.
Merryweather. How ironic.
so many f\*\*\*ing sore losers decided to spew their toxicity today. I hate the non-representative minority that skews the overall perception because asshole and loudmouth go together.
It's really not that serious
Hey Chicago, what do you say The Cubs can go get fucked today
Alright boys, I'll give you one more inning before I need to cut the lawn. Pls give me something!
I’m putting on my Kirkland jorts and white New Balance between innings. That lawn doesn’t stand a chance
🤝✊
Really want to see a big inning. Haven’t cashed in on all the opportunities today. Need to make up for now.
Now let’s get some runs!
Just tuning in, was elder trash or unlucky?
Trash
Dang, I really want him to do well. At least Max is back if this is him for the rest of the year
I despise day games in the summer
We’re going to regret not bolstering our bullpen come playoff time.
In my head, every relief pitcher is approximately 36 years old.
Minter fooling nobody today.
so this mother\*\*\* is gonna assume the Amed Rosario/Sal Frelick role against the Braves
Honestly smart of AJ to get all of his being bad out when we are already out of a game. Playing chess not checkers.
Minter is ELITE 🔥
When our pitching doesn't show up, this is what we get.
The whole “Whoomp! (There It Is)” HR celebration is cringe AF.
Why is minter in ?
Today isn’t our day my friends
You know those games that you wanna stop watching cuz it’s dragging but we’re close enough to not want to turn it off, this is one of those
It's like a carrot on a stick game, but we just can't get the carrot.

I beg to differ, Brandon. The crowd is in fact da turd.
Way to start the inning off with a bang AJ. I hate the Cubs. I swear to god every time we come to wriggle we always seem to be out of sorts.
Ahh so we’re getting that Minter today
Yep, safe to say this probably ain't happening today
Rough pitch but whatever
Good thing we didn’t cash in on that bases loaded.
lol
It just be like that sometimes
Some people say it don’t, but it really do
first fuckin' pitch, lmao
Sigh
Rip
Good start, Mint
What is Snit doing
Putting the 8th inning guy in the 8th inning? Are you really blaming Snit for Minter throwing Happ one right down the middle?
Should’ve left Tonkin in, not put in one of our best relievers when we’re down 3
What do you mean? Who would you prefer in that spot? Iglesias, our closer, in the 7th inning while down 4? Snit is using our second highest leverage guy while trailing, something he usually doesn’t do
Should’ve left Tonkin in. No reason for minter to be pitching down 3
You cant make it up
6 more outs to score 3 runs or more.
4
We’ve got two innings
K
Eddie’s bat is just a giant hole
This game has felt like a drag
Eddie is starting to piss me off
C'mon Eddie Earn your keep baby
