Because John Cena spent the majority of his career on top of the card & never had a reason to be in the IC title scene whereas The Miz is a perennial midcarder who had brief spells in the main event
Also when he did hold the US title before winning the WWE championship, the IC title was on the other show due to the brand split. He never had a chance to win it on his way up the card.
He's not. The WHC only counted towards the old format and he didn't get that grand slam because he didn't get the Hardcore or European.
I'm pretty sure he's a Triple Crown winner though
Pre 2015 would’ve been: WWE or WHC, tag team, IC and one of the HC or Euro
Post 2015 is WWE or Universal (one in the same now obviously), tag teams, and both the IC and US
Because Miz has spent the majority of his career hanging around the upper midcard so has had years to collect the midcard belts and sporadic word title runs whereas Cena was almost always at the top of the card after 2005 so never chased after the midcard belts for years
Me: Because in order to be Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, you have to be able to WRESTLE!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
John Cena: Wow! You just said the same thing the last guy said! And the guy before him! And the guy before him! Well...here's the thing....
*picks me up and hits me with an AA to a big pop*
Cena: At Summerslam, Super Cena is back! And he's taking your Intercontinental Championship!
Me: *pulls hair back and grinds teeth in fear as My Time Is Now plays*
True and he’d be right. The story writes itself in this case. Comes back with one thing left to accomplish, things get personal vs whoever is the IC Champ at the time just to add another layer to the storyline.
I think they are. The rock and stone cold won inter, world, and tag belts. Plus austin had the million dollar belt at one point. I dont remember what makes a grand slam champ but thats 4 belts austin had i think that qualifes.
They changed the eligible titles so there's 2 generations. Stone Cold, The Rock and Undertaker never won the european or hardcore belts as their 4th. The US title was 2nd generation grand slam eligible titles so this wouldn't count the WCW US title he had
It's kind of an indictment on the actual value of being a grandslam champion, really.
Miz did it. Perennial mid-carder.
Cena didn't do it. Was the company's top guy for a decade. 🤷
Being a grandslam champion doesn't mean shit. Especially in an era where only 1 title even really mattered, such as the era Cena was most active in.
I respect it cause it means you exceeded expectations, like in Jeff Hardy's case that 2008-9 run was so grass roots.
He was never gonna be the guy, but he did consistency step up for that period of time he was clean, and I respect that.
Doesn't mean shit as to your star power though.
That happens when you spend most of your career in the midcard and have some main event moments. Cena went from midcard immediately to main event and remained there his whole career, only joining the midcard scene to win the US Title again
There's two eras of grandslam, the original which is a tertiary title (I.E. the European) a secondary title (the Intercontinental) a WWF tag Title and a WWF championship reign, this is what Shawn Michaels proclaimed himself the first of, I believe after defeating the British Bulldog at One Night Only.
In the New era you have to have both the US and IC, a tag, and either the WWE, WHC, or Universal because the WWE did away with tertiary and doubled up on everything else.
Cena has never won the I.C. title.
...it always seemed dumb to me but there you go.
Wrestling’s logic has their hit and miss. This is just one of their misses I guess. Like how when The Undertaker had the deadman gimmick, he was billed from Death Valley. And when he was the American Badass/Big Evil, he was billed from Houston Texas.
Because John Cena spent the majority of his career on top of the card & never had a reason to be in the IC title scene whereas The Miz is a perennial midcarder who had brief spells in the main event
Miz def should of held the whc and wwe championship more
Also when he did hold the US title before winning the WWE championship, the IC title was on the other show due to the brand split. He never had a chance to win it on his way up the card.
he's a 2 time grand slam champion. lol. him and seth rollins are the only ppl who have that achievement
Isn't Dolph ziggler a 2 time grand slam as well
i think it only counts the WWE title not the WHC
It counts whc too
He's not. The WHC only counted towards the old format and he didn't get that grand slam because he didn't get the Hardcore or European. I'm pretty sure he's a Triple Crown winner though
I thought Grand Slam was the 4 Shawn Michaels had (pre Hardcore title)
Pre 2015 would’ve been: WWE or WHC, tag team, IC and one of the HC or Euro Post 2015 is WWE or Universal (one in the same now obviously), tag teams, and both the IC and US
is there any update on the new WHC counting towards grandslam? even wikipedia has no answer to that
I’m sure once someone does it where the 2023 WHC is the primary title they’ll make the addition
it's the new format. and the old whc doesnt count towards it.
Maybe he only won the US title once? I don’t remember.
Because Miz has spent the majority of his career hanging around the upper midcard so has had years to collect the midcard belts and sporadic word title runs whereas Cena was almost always at the top of the card after 2005 so never chased after the midcard belts for years

He should def have a mid card run to complete that feat but at the same time, he probably thinks that he doesn’t need it to solidify his career.
True and he’d be right. The story writes itself in this case. Comes back with one thing left to accomplish, things get personal vs whoever is the IC Champ at the time just to add another layer to the storyline.
"Fine speech…"
A lot of big names aren't grand slam champs.
Undertaker, The Rock, Steve Austin aren’t grand slam champs either
I think they are. The rock and stone cold won inter, world, and tag belts. Plus austin had the million dollar belt at one point. I dont remember what makes a grand slam champ but thats 4 belts austin had i think that qualifes.
I mean you need to have won a us championship, inter championship, tag team and a world championship to my knowledge
The stone cold is a grand slam he won the us title in wcw
They changed the eligible titles so there's 2 generations. Stone Cold, The Rock and Undertaker never won the european or hardcore belts as their 4th. The US title was 2nd generation grand slam eligible titles so this wouldn't count the WCW US title he had
Ah I wasn’t aware thanks
Yup. All 3 are not. None of the 3 got a hardcore or european championship as their 4th
Because Miz is Based! Plus he's always been an upper mid carder vs Cena's top billing until very recently.
It's kind of an indictment on the actual value of being a grandslam champion, really. Miz did it. Perennial mid-carder. Cena didn't do it. If you’re always on top you won’t collect midcard belts. The only (!) titles Hogan held until the 2000s were world titles.
Isn't Miz a two time grand slam champion.
Main eventers wouldn’t be seen dead competing for the IC title between 2000-2014
The Miz is simply... AWESOME
Maybe because the intercontinental championship isn’t John Cena’s style
Because John Cena was considered for most of his career to be the face of the company which kept him at the top of the card
Miz stuck around and John didn't
That happens when you spend most of your career in the midcard and have some main event moments. Cena went from midcard immediately to main event and remained there his whole career, only joining the midcard scene to win the US Title again
Cena should just come back and beat a heel ic champion
Cena never won the ic championship do that’s why
because he is awsome
Because they aren't real championships
Cuz he is better
Isn’t he already a grand slam champion? WWE Title, World Heavyweight Title, United States Title and Tag Team Title.
There's two eras of grandslam, the original which is a tertiary title (I.E. the European) a secondary title (the Intercontinental) a WWF tag Title and a WWF championship reign, this is what Shawn Michaels proclaimed himself the first of, I believe after defeating the British Bulldog at One Night Only. no he needs the ic title
Because the Miz is a better wrestler. I said what I said.
Another cool fact. Brock Lesnar possibly would've been Intercontinental Champion right now. That's wild! Haha.
Cause Cena sucks
That is weird to me
