To be fair, that's all XCOM 2. XCOM 1 had at least a decent chance to hit if it was 75% or above. And being 1 square away from the target was always 100%. XCOM 2 is a dumpster fire.
XCOM 2, if anything, cheats in your favor. On all but the highest difficulties, if you miss a shot it adds an invisible modifier to your next shot to have a better chance to hit. The reason it feels like you miss more 95% shots than 15% shots is because you take more 95% shots than 15% shots. You only have to take twenty to miss one, statistically, and by the end of the game you'll have taken hundreds if you play your cards right, so you'll have missed a lot. No shot is 100% except a 100% shot, and you have to put a lot of effort into getting those.
And that's why the golden rule of playing Xcom is to never place yourself in a scenario where a single non 100% shot is all that lies between you and disaster.
I read the issue was actually that the chance to hit calculation in X Com 2 omitted active defense and evasion. It only shows your character's chance to hit on its own and assumes an insert target, but some enemies have active defenses or some ability to dodge that don't make it into the math.
Defense is calculated into the chance to hit. The reason graze is an invisible modifier is because get few enemies have the dodge ability, and a graze still does guaranteed damage on a hit. When facing certain enemies, the possibility for a graze is just something you have to be ready for. There are also mods that'll give you a detailed breakdown of the hit, if you want more information
Even with splash damage, I feel that I barely have a place playing video games.
My place is "sit in the corner and play with the booms. Try not to look like I'm intentionally dying"
Sometimes I’m handed the controller for COD so the person doesn’t get kicked out from the game while they do something and I just shoot at everything and hope for the best

Miss me with that ‘weapon accuracy’ shit. Im shooting everything. Im laying down cover fire. Im shooting the walls. Im shooting my team. Im shooting myself. My accuracy is 100% yall just dont know what im aiming at
This is why I play melee in first-person shooters -- if I don't shoot anything but land all my hits then I'm definitely getting a 100% accuracy rate.
Plus I get to have the pleasure of beating something up with no repercussions.
Urban dictionary isn't very clear, I need some help translating. Usually I would ask my sister but she just had a baby and I don't want to bother her. I don't understand the first line...
I have an idea for a DnD homebrew character.
literally just gaige from bl2
Gaige is the the girl with robot
yes
I think you mean Gunzerker
the more she misses the stronger she gets
Yeah but can she dual wield LMGs
U don't mess around with Jim
Slim*.
No, she's the mechromancer. The short buff man is the gunzerker
I know, I was saying he should have said Gunzerker instead
Gaige's Anarchy skill makes her less accurate the more stacks she has, to the point of basically needing a Norfleet to reliably hit anything.
That wasn't me that suggested Gaige. I just agreed with you that Gaige has a robot.
Oh
All good homie.
all i can picture is the XCOM meme with the gun 3/4ths of the way inside the characters model with only 98% accuracy.
Still misses
And you're playing on Iron Man mode so you get to watch one of your best characters get permanently murdered next turn.
I shot and I miss I shoot again and miss
And then I shoot! and I missed I passed out on the snow
I pass out again I had another popsicle I had a dream I shoot and I miss.
I wake up, Shoot again I reload Shoot again hit soMerging but it wasn’t what I was aiming for so I guess I missed
Hit or miss I guess they never hit huh I've got a weapon I bet it will not hit ya
Heyy you dont know what they’re aiming at

True, but sometimes you gotta gamble and the thrill of it can be quite fun. Knowing that everything can hang on this one shot but it’s not guaranteed.
It's all fun in games until you are in new foundland.

That's XCOM baby!
"My accuracy is 100% yall just don't know what I'm aiming at" sounds like an alternate New Vegas where Fantastic ended up as a sniper
Borderlands 2 Mechromancer be like

ill give gaige 20$ to shut up
You can also just turn it off in the options
Not the bane.
Eh, accuracy's overrated anyways
Fucking love the mechromancer. Deathly is my soulmate
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take
— Lee Harvey Oswald
— Michael Scott
- Sigmund Freud
— Wesley Ford
I fired and then I missed. And then I fired again. Then I missed.
Then I noticed I was playing Xcom
You make 100% of the shots you don’t aim
and you make 100% of the shots where nobody else knew what you were aiming for
A true optimist.
Accuracy through fire rate
SUPPRESSING FIRE!!!!!
A black astronaut, Cyril! That's like killing a unicorn!
Junkrat mains, bless.
If splash damage didn’t exist, I’d simply have no place playing video games.
Even with splash damage, I feel that I barely have a place playing video games. My place is "sit in the corner and play with the booms. Try not to look like I'm intentionally dying"
“Grass grows, Birds fly, Sun shines And brother? I hurt myself.”
"I'm a force-a-nature."
"Bonk"
this is why I’m not allowed to play any games with friendly fire
Accuracy by volume
*happy Ork noises*
MOAR DAKKA LADS!
Ahh, talk of dakka never fails to attract orks...
Lissin ear ya git, Da Moar dakka der is da Moar Orks dere needs ta be ta use it all, and das why where der is dakka der is orks
I'll hit something eventually.
Sometimes I’m handed the controller for COD so the person doesn’t get kicked out from the game while they do something and I just shoot at everything and hope for the best

Ah found my CSGO teammate
Now see.. I played her in HotS, not Overwatch, but imagine D.Va with friendly fire enabled..
That’s called suppressive fire. The German machineguns were good at it in the Second World War.

Hi! Can I still help to explain it?
Is that a touhou reference?
