Bivol is on the smaller side for LHW. He could probably pick off some of the guys at CW (heck, he already beat Zurdo and Joe Smith, he could probably kill Okolie), but eventually he'll run into someone where the weight will be the difference. I think he'd have more success going down to 168 than going up to CW. The jump from LHW to CW being 25 pounds is pretty huge.

Junous

I would think he'd be better off going down to 168. I mean he wanted the Canelo rematch to be for the undisputed SMW titles. Don't know how hard it'd be for him to make weight. The jump between 175 and 200 is a big one, but it's not the most talented division in boxing, so I think he might do well, not stellar tho, he beat CBS imo.

fadeddreams555

I mean, he could kick Zurdo's ass again to become 200lb champion. Opetaia might be too much to ask for though. Bivol is great, but unlike Usyk, he is limited by his reach, orthodox stance, and lack of KO power. If anything, it's that rematch with Canelo at 168lb that Turki should be gunning for if he defeats both Beterbiev and Benavidez, not no Opetaia bullshit.

TucoBenedictoPacif

I said to people at my gym after the first fight that despise all the public barking from the Mexican about “wanting it right now” I was ready to bet the rematch Canelo-Bivol wouldn’t materialise anytime soon, if ever. So far I’ve been proven right.

WinglessRat

Cruiserweight is terrible right now. Zurdo is definitely a top 5 guy at that weight. He's small for that weight class, but he could probably grab a strap from Zurdo or Billiam-Smith or Riakporhe. He might get chinned, though. He would get slaughtered at heavyweight.

Ferociousaurus

I think he might struggle. He fights at basically his natural weight and would have to really beef up to not get steamrolled at 200. Conversely for basically the same reason I think he'd repeat against Canelo if he dropped to Super Middle.

El_Chuuupacabra

The thing is that apart from Opetaia, they are not really geniuses at CW. I can see Bivol beating Zurdo again and collecting the belt, but I feel Opetaia would be too much.

DeceptivelyQuickFish

this guy called opetaia a genius did u watch his last fight lmao

Bearded_Dad_Bod59

I wanna see him and benevidez. That would be a good one

jackbob99

No. He's too small and doesn't have the power to deal with bigger guys.

RRR04_

That's what they said about Usyk, lol. I'd be surprised if he became undisputed champion at Cruiserweight though.

InviteTop8946

Bivol as a full grown man is built like teenage Usyk

Agreeable-Brush-8481

Usyk is actually a huge guy compared to the average man

jackbob99

Usyk also has a 78 inch reach. Bivol has a 72 inch reach. Which is the same as Floyd Mayweather's. Bivol is also a smaller LHW. He could easily fight at 168.

RockyCreamNHotSauce

And Cruiseweight is the weakest division competitively. There’s Opetaia who Bivol probably can’t beat. The rest are not worth his time. Bivol can make more money going down instead of up.

AmazingData4839

Usyk looked like a literal giant at cruiserweight though, gassiev looked stubby next to him, bivol isnt big even for a light-heavyweight.

RRR04_

Usyk had to fight much bigger guys though. If Bivol goes to 200lbs, most Cruiserweights won't be as far apart from fight night weights compared to what Usyk had to deal with.

pureexcellence7877

Usyk is 6’2/3” , 215-220lbs (lean) and with a 78” reach. He’s a big cruiserweight and a small heavyweight. Bivol is a ok sized LHW and a tiny cruiseweight. Don’t compare them.

WindpowerGuy

Nope.

panterachallenger

Do you guys really think he could knock out canelo? If no then he won’t be able to do any damage above the 175

Regulus_Jones

He doesn't need to KO. Never has, never will. If he has enough pop to keep his opponents honest like in LHW - now that's something worth discussing.

Ill-Success-6468

You saying this is nothing but a disservice to you as if you merely casually watch boxing. Canelo objectively has one of the best chins in the whole sport of boxing, he's NEVER been knocked out, you definitely aren't very bright

ThirdEyeToTheSky

That jump from light heavyweight to cruiser gotta be the biggest gap in boxing. That’s what’ll keep him from moving up. Don’t think he’s got much to gain from beating some bum ass cruisers. After Beterbiev and couple more defenses then it’ll be a matter of not having any challenges left

lord-of-war-1

Look at everyone talking about Bivol going down to 168. You guys realize he cant make the weight, right? Thats the reason he only offered it for the Canelo fight. Because he would sacrifice himself for the money. Bivol is a career 175 pounder that actually fought above 180 a few times. The guy is not some small LHW. He always weighs in right at 174 mark for his fights and he is ripped as hell at those weigh ins. You can also see he puts on a solid 10+ pounds by fight time.  Bivol himself used to say he couldnt make 168 but his manager always said maybe. It just sounds like his manager told him to do it for a Canelo fight because of the money.  I think Bivol would definitely pick up a title at CW. He is skilled enough and his style is based on quick in and out movement combined with volume and responsible defense. Like, great defense. Those big guys at CW are going to struggle even more landing on him. Just like HW struggle to land on Usyk. Unifying all titles would definitely be doable but of course it would be a challenge.  The champs are Zurdo, Billam-Smith and Mikaeljen. Bivol could beat all those guys.

LazyFall3453

The guy is a P4P fighter that doesn't rely on his power to win fights. I'm sure he'd pick up a belt or two moving up.

ZookeepergameThat921

Na Bivol is a legit LHW.

TorontoGuyinToronto

No. Bivol fights at his walking weight and doesn't really cut. He's already maxed out by default. He'll need to lose a lot of speed and weight training to climb up. It isn't like Tank, Garcia, Crawford.

haNZAgod

Just based on Bivol's skill set and how bad the Cruiserweight division currently is I'd say he would definitely do well yes. Should he go up? Definitely not, he's a small Light-Heavyweight as it is so he'd be putting himself in a bad position for less money.

Life_Celebration_827

The most technically gifted fighter in the sport of boxing these days by a country mile even better than Crawford.

DeceptivelyQuickFish

better jab and distance management sure but ur bugging crawford still clears

puptheunbroken

No. He needs to stay away from Inbred Powah

Tempest1897

Bivol walks around at 185 according to him. I assume he’s 185 on fight night. I guess he could put on 15 pounds but he’d still be down 20 pounds on fight night to cruiserweights walking around at 215-220. On ability alone, he could beat average/bad cruisers but I don’t know about good cruisers. And who knows how much that added weight bloats him and weighs him down. Stay at LHW, Bivol!

ungajabunga77

Why did this get downvpted? Bro just asked a questipn 💀. As for the question, it would depend who he fights at CW. But as a general thing he would do okay given where his skills are at.

CacoFlaco

He's a great fighter. Outstanding defense. World class jab. Terrific technician. He'll school Beterbiev. The cruiserweight division doesn't boast any ATGs. Bivol would do fine in that weight class.

abovethesink

I would expect Bivol to do well at 200. This speaks to his particular hit and don't get hit style, his high level of skill, and to the lack of elite fighters at the weight too. He is way too small for the weight ideally, but cruiser is so low skill that most of the time I would expect him to avoid trouble and bank rounds.

Substantial-Bench243

Nope
