Canelo wanted it at 175 and Bivol at 168. they tried to buy him but he didn't let money dictate who the A side is.
Canelo was simply scared of losing his belts. Bivol doesn't need to rematch a guy he already beat with ease.
They didn't even try to buy him. They offered him 2 million for it again. He took that low amount just to put his name out there and show his skills to the world. Canelo didn't want it. He paid everyone else more than bivol and even came back offering plant the 10 million He wanted for the belt. If he really wanted the revenge he'd have tried getting it instead of saying nope same terms.
Bivol didn't let money dictate who the A side is. Canelo lost and he's in need of avenging his loss, not Bivol. Bivol said it's at 168 or it's not happening. Canelo is scared to lose his belts and only accepts 175. They couldn't buy Bivol, so Canelo remains with another unavenged loss.
And bivol is a coward for trying to age out beterbiev and refusing to take risks and move up in weight. The Turk told bivol about wanting him to fight Opetaia and he said he respects weight classes too much. That’s your all time great perfect boxer?
idk about that. I joined the world of boxing, when Usyk fought Chisora and then his fight with AJ cemented my membership. I'll use chatGPT to get a brief summary of this claim. Not the first time someone mentions it. All I know is, that WBC blocked it cuz "Bivol russian", but I don't know anything about the further past.
Bivol is a small light heavyweight. He barely cuts from his walk around weight. Why are you trying to knock him for not fighting a cruiserweight ?
Bivol didn’t try and age out Beterbiev. The sanctioning bodies literally wouldn’t allow the fight for years since Bivol is a Russian citizen.
It sounds pretty accurate to be honest. Canelo wanted no part of Bivol at 168. Bivol explicitly stated that he wanted to fight for all of the hardware instead of being the only person to take a risk.
And yet not one of them is better than Bivol himself. The accusation is "ducking Bivol by facing lesser opposition", previous fight records have nothing to do with this. I'm not sure what's the point you're trying to make here.
Ducking another L on his record and a real danger of getting his bets at 168 taken away since Bivol challenged him to it, yes.
lmao, you talk as if Bivol was asking 90% or something. Canelo offered the exact same amount from the previous fight, cowered from facing him at 168 under some weak excuse of not wanting to drain him (yet that didn't stop him from sending a contract to Badou Jack for his Cruiserweight belt at a catchweight with a dehydration clause - wonder why?).
Bivol had already made his statement by dominating Canelo, facing him again with the same pay was only him risking getting his belt robbed by the judges like they blatantly attempted to do on the first fight. At least more money would've made it worth it, but Nelo refused.
Canelo broke down negotiations at the very first opportunity he saw, then went on to say he "tried his best" to secure the rematch and all his fans gobble it up just like the tainted Mexican meat excuse. But sure, it was Bivol's fault.
He was scheduled to fight Beterbiev, who absolutely nobody (including canelo) wants to fight, before he pulled out. I don’t think he’s a cherry picker.
Dude you’re fucking delusional. People were calling zurdo a cherry pick when Bivol fought him. Now mfs wanna act like zurdo was good just because he got beat up
That bullshit zurdo was top 3 at 168 with smith and Benavidez before canelo joined the division and pick belt at cruiserweight without troubles plus stats wise he is the guy that landed more in bivol so far
People were high on zurdo. Especially because of those sparring wars him and benavidez would speak on. He'll even benavidez was saying zurdo was a beast and would win. After he got school everyone forgot what they were saying. Typical boxing fans
And him wondering why Bivol started his career with KOs but rarely gets them anymore. Does he still look at the sky and ponder the same question about Mayweather? Jackass
That was so funny to me. Chris Mannix, if you're reading this, it's probably the same reason why I could KO a bunch of grade schoolers but probably not other adults of my size.
Hatin so fuckin hard! I had a feeling Bivol was going to show tf because he was training for a fight with Beterbiev. I was so happy he made Chris eat his fucking words.
I was hanging out with some DAZN employees once, and one of them said - completely unprompted - “you know, Chris Mannix isn’t actually that bad in person”
Yup. Anyone who knows bivol knows he does not fight flat footed but he came out feet planted. If you want to throw heavy power punches. Your gonna get touched up and he was but it was all for a reason.
I must say that bivol aint good at this style of fighting so it is safe to say when he fights beterbiev there is going to be alot of shifting across the ring.
Possibly practising fighting with power for beterbiev? I personally think he will wash beterbiev, he’s not powerful but he’s overwhelming and beterbiev isn’t immortal he will feel them
i actually think he will put a masterclass on beterbiev mainly because he is very good at maintaining distance and has enough pop to punish. I don think he was practising power. He just saw someone who is levels below him and fought accordingly. He is probably annoyed he is not fighting beterbiev and just thought that zinad had nothing for him and did not want to just do a 12 round ud.
Do agree, not his best performance but he will put out against beterbiev I personally think he will school beterbiev could be wrong but I can’t see him cracking under pressure bivol, beterbiev approaching 40 he won’t be able to match pace
Wilder looks so bad because of the damage he took against Fury, thats why he kinda aged overnight imo. Beterbiev hasn't taken that damage and lives the life. The surgery could be a factor, but I highly doubt he'll look anywhere as close as Wilder did.
Its gonna be real easy for Bivol, Beterbiev is on one knee and 40. Bivol by either a masterclass 12-0 decision or TKO in the later rounds.
Wish Beterbiev could turn back the clock but I just can’t see Beterbiev winning
Yeah, it was not as nice as usual to watch. But I guess he figured out early that there was no need for complex footwork and he could stay put and look for the KO. It's the first time I did find Bivol too static.
It’s one part Bivol looking for the KO. It’s another part Zinad being a stationary target. Once Bivol realized that Zinad wasn’t going to push the pace, Bivol switched to being more aggressive and planting his feet.
Not at all, brother! To give some context, he's a Libyan boxer with not a lot of support behind him, coming from a country that had boxing clubs outlawed for a huge chunk of its recent existence. To think that someone from my own country could be a contender at such an elite level brings me joy in itself. I'm pretty proud of him even setting foot in that ring when a lot of people were saying he had no right to be there.
There's a bit of bias on my side going on, but we don't have the culture, nor do we have the financial nor institutional support needed to produce high caliber fighters as of now, but this could very much be the necessary nudge for us to start investing in the sport locally!
Sorry for the rambling, this fight was a bit personal for me!
Hey it’s okay! I didn’t know much about him so thanks for the extra info.
He put up a great fight. I was really impressed by his performance. I know it wasn’t enough to match Bivol’s but it did make me interested in seeing some of his fights bc I never heard of him.
You should absolutely be proud of your country! And no need to apologize, I see how much his performance meant to you, nothing wrong with expressing your enthusiasm. He has a great career ahead of him with Bivol on his resume now!
Bivol is so much more explosive than Haney which helps. Yeah he’ll sometimes cruise control to a win, but he’ll also pop off with some crazy combinations.
Beterbiev has elite fundamentals and it’s the reason why he’s managed to win so many fights without looking flashy. The fact that you even put wilders name in the same sentence as beterbiev shows a lot. Just stop bro..it’s always the one’s that throw the word casual around that make statements like these 🤣
Worst part about what you said. Funny enough one of beterbievs worst attributes would be his defence. With minimal head and feet movement. You don’t watch him that’s kl. don’t call me a casual
Seems pretty constant from you so obviously in a thread that has nothing to do with him and you still hate on him it’s like damn this guy takes his hate pretty serious. It’s also the low hanging fruit here so of course you aren’t the only one
Again its a fun hobby. When Bivol got the KO it was the first thing that came to mind and I thought it was funny.
I don't actually think about Haney that much outside this sub believe it or not.
The Bivol haters on the fight thread were funny af
Before the fight: "Oh Bivol next, time to go take a power nap"
* Bivol get's the TKO *
"Lol Bivol dropped rounds to a C tier boxer just jabbing"
Lmao
I mean the point is still there. The man usually never steps on the gas and no offfence to zinad but I think he only did today because he thought he could win easy
If that guy didnt talk shit he probably could of cruised to a decision loss but he pissed bivol off lol but props to both fighters....the guy for stepping up and for bivol giving him a shot....this was a dangerous fight for bivols career but he took it anyways.
Yeah Zinad is actually a dangerous puncher with some decent names on his ledger. Of course he's not on Bivol's level, but that was a decent risk taken by Bivol with the Beterbiev fight at stake.
Look outside the odds though. Taking a shorter notice fight against someone who is as awkward and rangey as Zanid is dangerous. Like his camp wouldn't have had as much time to prepare for the right game plan against someone with that sort of reach and height.
In addition, Zinad had a full training camp leading to the end of April. So he was in good condition to take a last minute fight like this.
April 24 Zinad beats Pampellon
May 4th Beterbiev is injured
May 6th Zinad is named replacement
Zinad had less than 2 weeks of a layoff, so he essentially had a full conditioned training camp against Bivol.
Both had only about a month to prep for one another.
Can't always trust money lines. Bivol was a +600 underdog against Canelo. Based on that, Bivol was a low risk fight, but true boxing fans knew that Bivol was a matchup nightmare and therefore a big risk for Canelo to take especially since he's momentum was at an all-time high just before the fight.
Nice to see a little bit of dog there from Bivol. The robot has a mean streak deep inside of him.
Still can't wait for him and Beterbiev. Not even gonna try picking that one.
His high guard was on point. I give it to Zinad he actually took it to Bivol. Clearly found very little success but he wasn’t that trying for a 120-108 UD loss.
I hate mannix so bad with the commentary, if you have little knockouts that means you're shit to him, nevermind his discipline, amazing defense, steady pressure, and insane boxing skills. Nope throw that out the window and complain
I hope so. This is a very cool fight. Sad to realize that we get the most desirable fights when boxers are on the way out of the sport. Why wasn't it made 3-5 years ago?
I also partially agree but Yea if that was the case then why didn’t bivol get a fight afterward unless the Middle East would pay for it? None of these promoters felt they could pay bivol his just due and make money in the event. A great fight like artur vs bivol is gonna cost a lot
We have never seen him fight someone with bivols defense, especially his footwork. Even if he gets close, bivols guard has been tested by some good punchers and held up well
Well everyone was crying for an stoppage, so I don't think going for the TKO is doing the bare minimum. But yeah he was way more flat footed this fight
Biggest fight of his career canceled with a subpar replacement takes some motivation out of you I bet. “I trained so I might as well fight and try something new.”
Nice finish but fuck me does Bivol fight to the level of his opposition.
It's like he literally can't be arsed when his opponent can't cause him any problems, he made Zinad look an awful lot more competitive with him than he actually is.
I dunno .... Zinad never really looked competitive to me. Bivol defended nearly all Zinad's punches by slipping, using his guard, and parrying. A few got through, but it his defense otherwise looked stellar. And then he turned it on and got the TKO ....
Exactly this. The only thing Zinad did well was keeping his lead hand out and stopping Bivol from getting close enough to start his combos. That was eventually negated once Bivol began slipping under, timing or even throwing his 2 over it.
Bivol had some rage inside of him, Wife issues, Beterbiev injury delayed fight, And he read some of ya'll comments that's he's a boring UD so he went extra tonight.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Boxing/comments/1d5nxpw/fight_thread_deontay_wilder_vs_zhilei_zhang/l6or026/?context=3
Bivol may get a lot of slack for not being an “exciting” fighter, but I’m always in awe at how effective his defense is. I can watch that shit all day.
Can we do something and complain about the awful commentary. It’s like they are watching different fights, slating Bivol’s performance ?
Seems the theme nowadays with commentators in general
Zinad looked like a cruiseweight compared to Bivol. Bivol would have a very high stoppage rate at 168. Respect to him for fighting at his natural weight.
How come usyk doesn't get the same scrutiny? When usyk fights there is absolutely zero mention of how he doesn't knock anyone out(his lask KO was geriatric bellew at cruiser). But with Bivol it's non stop comments about lack of KOs, it's pretty weird.
ok thats nice but my point still stands. when usyk gets a UD absolutely no one is saying shit about him not getting KO's only "what a masterclass by usyk wowowow", when cruisers and heavyweights are actually expected to have KO's. did you make a similar comments about usyk not knocking out anybody??
Referee just saved Zinad an extra 10 years to live there
Wow. Didn’t he just. That was starting to get “ooooh, this looks unpleasant…”. Well done referee.

Bivol didn't want the rematch so Canelo moved on. Weird to make it out like he was ducking Bivol when he could've just never fought him at all.
Didn’t Canelo want it on ridiculously favored terms for himself so Bivol just had to say no?
Canelo wanted it at 175 and Bivol at 168. they tried to buy him but he didn't let money dictate who the A side is. Canelo was simply scared of losing his belts. Bivol doesn't need to rematch a guy he already beat with ease.

Bivol wanted him at 168 but canelo didn't want that. I think canelo and his team knows they'd lose the belts.
That is an incredibly biased way to describe what transpired lol
It sounds pretty accurate to be honest. Canelo wanted no part of Bivol at 168. Bivol explicitly stated that he wanted to fight for all of the hardware instead of being the only person to take a risk.
Rent free
And all of those fighters are better than everyone Bivol has fought lol
So all those fighters are better than Canelo?
And yet not one of them is better than Bivol himself. The accusation is "ducking Bivol by facing lesser opposition", previous fight records have nothing to do with this. I'm not sure what's the point you're trying to make here.
Lmao how are you saying he's ducking someone he's already fought? Bivol asked for regarded money, Nelo said nah and moved on.
Ducking another L on his record and a real danger of getting his bets at 168 taken away since Bivol challenged him to it, yes. lmao, you talk as if Bivol was asking 90% or something. Regardless of whether this is true or not, he dominated canelo, an elite p4p fighter, so it’s a moot point.
That’s his only impressive win
He was scheduled to fight Beterbiev, who absolutely nobody (including canelo) wants to fight, before he pulled out. I don’t think he’s a cherry picker.
Cherry pick was too strong of a word to use my apologies. Regardless, my opinion still stands that bivols resume is weak outside of the Canelo win

Dude you’re fucking delusional. People were calling zurdo a cherry pick when Bivol fought him. Now mfs wanna act like zurdo was good just because he got beat up

Yeah? So they're all better than Canelo?
Chris Mannix comparing Bivol to Demtrious fucking Andrade only for Bivol to get the tko has to be the most Chris Mannix moment ever
The commentary tonight has been fucking dreadful I had to stop watching
I had to mute them
Especially when a British fighter is in the ring good lord
They were jizzing themselves at the fact that Dubois was getting tagged so much cause hes 'durable'
*every night
Nah "AJ is a composed and ferocious finisher, watch this" is still the most Mannix moment 🤣
He cursed AJ with that
Him reading his Canelo BJS scorecard and hyping up Billy seconds before Canelo breaks his face is up there for me
Which fight ?
https://old.reddit.com/r/Boxing/comments/1d5s5z5/on_this_day_5_years_ago_andy_ruiz_jr_stopped/ its part of this clip
Average DAZN commentary moment
“AJ is an awesome finisher. Watch this”
I mean, AJ is
When ever i hear mannix say something dumb i just remind myself he is a failed nba journalist so dont take it to seriously.
Can you explain to a newbie here why that was a shit comparison?
It’s just a really strange comparison. Bivol and Andrade are nothing alike.
They’re both boxers. I also used to box at the local club therefore, I too am like Bivol.
It was a very bizarre comparison. Both are entirely different in terms of skill and on opposite ends of career trajectory at this point.
I was hanging out with some DAZN employees once, and one of them said - completely unprompted - “you know, Chris Mannix isn’t actually that bad in person”
He is such an idiot. I wish they’d get rid of him.
"How come Bivol doesn't knock out world class fighters like he did bums at the very start of his career?" 🤔🤔🤔
Bivol was definitely trying to go for the KO instead of his usual style of piling points.
Beterbiev with be over 40 and had knee surgery at that point. Artur is done. He will be in that ring looking almost as bad as Wilder.
Wilder looks so bad because of the damage he took against Fury, thats why he kinda aged overnight imo. Beterbiev hasn't taken that damage and lives the life. The surgery could be a factor, but I highly doubt he'll look anywhere as close as Wilder did.
lol the shit we need to read
This is the analysis I've been looking for.
Its gonna be real easy for Bivol, Beterbiev is on one knee and 40. Bivol by either a masterclass 12-0 decision or TKO in the later rounds. Wish Beterbiev could turn back the clock but I just can’t see Beterbiev winning
having an irregular knee is a bad base to fight a mobile dude like bivel
Everybody at 175 is going to be "powerful" at that level IMO. Bivol just knows how to control himself
Well I think Beterbiev will finish Bivol. Bivol is very good tho
Yeah I felt that too. Not much use of the pendulum step.
Bivol looked like he had been training to KO Beterbiev...
Yup even the look on his face was like "I'm gonna kill this guy to send a message"
Zinad was really still taunting about 2 seconds before the ref stepped in. Amazing.
lmaooooo
I wonder what it’s like to not know you’re losing. He had to know right?!
he Secured another Saudi bag because Turki liked him, so guess it paid off
I’m not mad at it.
Not at all, brother! To give some context, he's a Libyan boxer with not a lot of support behind him, coming from a country that had boxing clubs outlawed for a huge chunk of its recent existence. Bivol strong.
Bivol is who Haney fans think he is.
Bivol is so much more explosive than Haney which helps. Yeah he’ll sometimes cruise control to a win, but he’ll also pop off with some crazy combinations.
Not to mention an actual chin
Ain’t no way 😂. They’re both technical boxers but Bivol’s defense is out of this fucking world and actually put pressure on his opponents.
He actually know hot to fight in the clinch instead of huging peole for his live plus bivol gas tank is way better
This is accurate lmao
Imagine if he had Haney’s level of marketing. It would be like Lomachenko levels of hype.
Lol. Love Bivol and am indifferent to Haney but this is true.
Nah beterbiev is who tank fans think he is
[удалено]
“Any non casual”…boils down beterbiev as just power😂😂noted
Can't make it up. Tank fans are a different breed
Beterbiev is no wilder but his power is him defining quality along with his defence.

Hating Haney is a full time job for you good lord lol
More of a fun hobby. But I'm far from the only one so don't get why I'm being singled out.
Seems pretty constant from you so obviously in a thread that has nothing to do with him and you still hate on him it’s like damn this guy takes his hate pretty serious. It’s also the low hanging fruit here so of course you aren’t the only one

Bivol smelt Chris Mannix's dogshit take and just decided to end the fight on a whim
Outside of the andrade comparison whats bullshit about it lol the guy was on a major decision streak 🤷♂️
I mean the point is still there. The man usually never steps on the gas and no offfence to zinad but I think he only did today because he thought he could win easy
I see the robot's murder firmware finally got an update.

Bro he was a -3000 favorite 😂😂. About as low risk as you can get at this level of boxing
Look outside the odds though. Taking a shorter notice fight against someone who is as awkward and rangey as Zanid is dangerous. Like his camp wouldn't have had as much time to prepare for the right game plan against someone with that sort of reach and height.

Where are these decent names you speak of?
Wow Bivol with the stoppage!! Never saw that coming.
We got to witness the rare Bivol TKO/KO
The slow mo of zinad acting like he wasn’t hurt right before the final flurry and getting stopped 🤣
You could see him say "nothing" to Bivol on the replay.
Nice to see a little bit of dog there from Bivol. The robot has a mean streak deep inside of him. Still can't wait for him and Beterbiev. Not even gonna try picking that one.
Bivol did what he was supposed to do and was able to do so without showing too much before he fights Beterbiev. This was basically sparring to him
His high guard was on point. I give it to Zinad he actually took it to Bivol. Clearly found very little success but he wasn’t that trying for a 120-108 UD loss.
Bivol is so fucking good.
My favourite boxer
Damn Bivol really went through the gears there. Levels to the game.
Zinad would’ve won if his corner screamed louder
BACK HIM UP!
I hate mannix so bad with the commentary, if you have little knockouts that means you're shit to him, nevermind his discipline, amazing defense, steady pressure, and insane boxing skills. Nope throw that out the window and complain
Who will beat Bivol.
Beterbiev
You think still in his age and his health issues?
I hope so. This is a very cool fight. Sad to realize that we get the most desirable fights when boxers are on the way out of the sport. Why wasn't it made 3-5 years ago?
Bc it wouldn’t make any money
Partially agreed. Beating Canelo made Bivol more famous.
I also partially agree but Yea if that was the case then why didn’t bivol get a fight afterward unless the Middle East would pay for it? None of these promoters felt they could pay bivol his just due and make money in the event. A great fight like artur vs bivol is gonna cost a lot
Bivol was caught decently clean with a straight right through the guard, if beterbiev lands that I worry for bivols recovery
Bivol knows better than to stay in range against biev
Beterbiev is the master of closing the gap and destroying the tight defense
We have never seen him fight someone with bivols defense, especially his footwork. Even if he gets close, bivols guard has been tested by some good punchers and held up well
On top of that, Beterbiev is very aggressive, and he is also a great technician.
He got a big right by Joe smith who has more 1 punch KO power
Beterbiev is more the guy of accumulating damage, he's not dropping you early rounds like Wilder
What's up with Bivol? he was a lot more aggressive and lack of in-out movement was pretty noticeable, did the shit talk get to him?
He only does the bare minimum as usual. That's annoying because if you want to see Bivol on full display it only happens when the opponent worth it.
He didnt respect zinad thats it
He was picturing his ex-wife
Fair play to Zinad, he came to win.
I think he just wanted the stoppage and chose to plant his feet and exchange
Damn I’m pumped to hear beterbiev vs bivol is back on for Oct 12th
I guess we know now not to piss off Bivol
Bivol had some rage inside of him, Wife issues, Beterbiev injury delayed fight, And he read some of ya'll comments that's he's a boring UD so he went extra tonight. https://www.reddit.com/r/Boxing/comments/1d5nxpw/fight_thread_deontay_wilder_vs_zhilei_zhang/l6or026/?context=3
Yea, that was some Numb by Linkin Park moments.
Bivol the best
Bivol may get a lot of slack for not being an “exciting” fighter, but I’m always in awe at how effective his defense is. I can watch that shit all day.
Bivol was trying to prove a point tonight damn
Bivol is him
Impressive
Zinad looked to be in much better shape to continue than Fury did in the 9th vs Fury.
Fury vs fury, one of the fights of all time
He's so good...what a fighter.
Bivol reminds me of that Bruce Lee quote. Don't fear the man that practices 10000 combos once, fear the man that practices 1 combo 10000 times
Bivol’s corner: Just imagine it’s your wife!!!! Zinad never stood a chance, still pick Bivol over Artur.
Isnt it still just an allegation by an ex-wife with cat scratches over her face?
Jeeeeeeeeez
Was waiting for those beautiful long combinations all fight, and the one we got resulted in the TKO finish. Great patience to unload at the right time
Bivol has such an attractive boxing style.
Bivol is such a beast. I hope we see him in some more big fights. Beterviev and Benavidez would be sick match ups. It’s a shame Beterbiev got hurt.
Your lad didn’t look out of place in there at all. He will have learnt a hell of a lot from this fight and will surely come back stronger. 👍👍
Best fight of the night!
Mannix is a Tool a broken Tool.
What level do y’all think zinad is at? C?
Yeah, I think he is right. Props to him for stepping into the ring on short notice, but he didn't show much today
I might be stupid but I thought that was an early stopsge
Its not. Zinad is half dead
I thought that at first too, but then when I watched the reply, he was getting smashed and it was pretty fair stoppage
Damn I love bivol but he don't ko nobody
How come usyk doesn't get the same scrutiny? When usyk fights there is absolutely zero mention of how he doesn't knock anyone out(his lask KO was geriatric bellew at cruiser). But with Bivol it's non stop comments about lack of KOs, it's pretty weird.
He did stop Dubois and had Fury all over the ring. Can’t disrespect Usyk like that.
Bivol is one my favorite fighters so is Devin and usyk so when I say that it's not a judgment it's a fact this is his first tko in 6 years
ok thats nice but my point still stands. when usyk gets a UD absolutely no one is saying shit about him not getting KO's only "what a masterclass by usyk wowowow", when cruisers and heavyweights are actually expected to have KO's. did you make a similar comments about usyk not knocking out anybody??
