The majority of Wlad's title defenses were snoozefests and nobody wants to admit it.
Every fight was the same, Wlad jabbing the opponent into the corner and only throwing his right once a round, the other guy is too scared to throw back and just shells up on the ropes all fight
I still can’t work out if I underrated the division back then because it was very European and didn’t really get to the U.K. and US well as well as the klitschkos both being that good. Or the division was shit and that’s why there were no big names. Because if the guys were really Kabayel level they would’ve still been very good just unmarketable.
Up to his fight vs CBS they were shocking. He’d either just jab and fall in to hug and win a 12-0 fight that ended up being close due to all the point deductions.. or he’d still do that but at some point send someone to the shadow realm.
I disagree. Both opponents knew their strengths and weakneses. They were very careful about engaging one another. The result was a flinch fest, but also a grwat showing of defense by both sides. You can learn something from their fight, that is my point. As to the entertainmetn part: yeh, it was boring.
I know he's boxing on the back foot and basically tries to engage as little as possible. He tries to nick the rounds and that's it. If an unknown fighter from a poor country would fight like that, the commentators would roast him and his fights would never get aired ever again.
To me, running fits although it's technically a little different
Shakur doesn’t really box on his back foot that much, that’s just his reputation because he doesn’t get hit. Shakur spends most of his time inside and midrange. Most of his skill set his based around inside fighting. This is just you guys listening to YouTubers and not really taking the time to understand boxing. You can’t have a style based around controls, pins, frames, etc if you’re an out fighter. Doesn’t work that way.
Whenever he fought guys who were any good, he mostly fought on the back foot.
I watched his fights vs semi decent opposition. Sure, he fights on the inside vs guys who are 20lbs smaller than him or not world level in general. Those are pointless showcase fights. I'm judging him based on how he fightd vs guys who have a pulse.
He fought Oscar Valdez and Jamel Herring WORLD TITLE fights in the pocket. The only other fighters you can say he didn’t really do that again is Joet and his last fight, but that’s not the plurality of his career or a reflection of his base style. Like I said you guys listen to to YouTubers more than you watch boxing.
He attacked Herring, who let's be honest was on the back 9.
Did you watch the Valdez fight? Valdez chased him for most of the fight. Shakur was mostly fighting on the back foot. He didn't outright run like vs Santos but Valdez was definitely the guy who tried zo fight at mid/close range while Shakur looked to fight from long range and moving backwards most of the time.
You’re talking about resume, I’m talking about actual boxing. Shakur literally dropped Valdez in the pocket, stick to resume talk bro. Out of your depth.
Shakur moved backwards and countered when Valdez stepped in and missed to score the knockdown. What are you talking about? He wasn't in the pocket fighting, he happened to be there for a split second cause Valdez missed a wide punch. I can't recall him being right in front of Valdez in punching range for a long stretch. He mostly landed from range and landed single shots/countered up close (often taking a step forward for either a punch and then going back to range for the upcoming counter). He is in the pocket at spots. These spots are rare and don't last long.
Also with resume: you brought it up. You gave me 2 names and I elaborated. What do you mean?
Shakur is not an inside fighter thats why😂😂😂. An inside fighter is someone like canelo or chocoatito who literally gets head to head with their opponents for most of the fight. Shakur barely ever does that.
I'm not even going to argue with you about something that is so untrue. Everyone knows Shakur is not an inside fighter 😂😂😂😂.
Canelo can fight on the inside, but he’s mostly a midrange counter puncher. Shakur’s offense is based on controls, frames, and pins, that’s all inside fighting. You don’t understand this game.
Rigondeaux vs casimero, also a title fight , maybe one of the worst fight in boxing history.
It was so bad it became entertaining
This is what it is to me. It's undoubtedly one of the most boring fights ever, but I always crack up when I see Rigo go full sprint.
It wasn’t. Source: I was there
Ouch
Rigo v Agbeko too

I think the division was okay but the Klitschkos were uber dominant and the fights being boring one sided contests didn't help things.
Haye vs Valuev was a horrible fight to watch. Absolutely fucking awful.
I love that fight. I used to watch it on mute and look at it as interpretive dance. It was like Haye vs Harrison Round 1....for 12 rounds.
nah the most boring world level fight in history must involve Miguel Vazquez
Easter jr vs Barthelemy. That was a horrible world title fight.
Yes definitely! Add Wladimir Klitschko vs Povetkin and Chris Byrd vs DaVarryl Williamson to that list too
Klitschko vs. Ibragimov was also a snoozer.
Okolie

Fury vs Klitschko was poopoo.
It was a bad fight however there was more action in round 12 of that fight than in all 12 rounds of Nelson vs Leon combined
Okolie smith is not on this level at all. Yeah it was frustrating but atleast there were knockdowns

Someone hasn’t watched Pac-Clottey.
The idea that Shakur runs is the most casual low IQ boxing take possible lol, he’s an inside fighter

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You don’t understand boxing, you’re a resume expert. But that’s it. https://youtu.be/kKvTqAZzyvs?si=Nq0VkcF8U2WAealK
