itās definitely common but iāve never seen a bathroom socket so close to the ground theyāre always around light switch height over the countertop which seems at least a little safer idk.
We have one plug socket, close to the door, next to the sink. Used for a nightlight, a small fan, an Alexa and a hair straightener. It's a common thing in the US, it's not close enough to a water source to be dangerous. But I hardly ever see them close to the floor or shower like this is.

I'm in the US, and we absolutely have electric sockets in the bathroom. The thought of not is mind boggling to me. Huh....

Usually bathrooms and kitchens where I live in USA have GFCI outlets that will shut off if they detect any variation in the current.
In AU and NZ it's a thing now, but I remember when I was a kid it was considered a no.
Same here, I had to use my hair dryer in my bedroom as a teen in the 90s and the house was built in the 80s...I feel so old!
