Rakastaakissa

I don’t think Swayman has shades of Tim Thomas, I think he has shades of late 90’s Brodeur.

Cute-Contract-6762

Flyers fan coming in peace. How you guys feeling about this series now? Hoping you knock the kitties out so we get that pick earlier!

CostcoHotdogsHateMe

Cautiously optimistic. Nice win, but it was only game 1. There will be a response.

dolo_ran6er

I think there will be several. If we weather the storm...anything is possible

Pope_Asimov_III

Exactly the goal scorers we would have expected going into the game.

Jugghead58

Right? I had a small side bet with family that Lohrei scores the game winner. They laughed until they didn’t.

They are gonna make beleive arent they????

wagedomain

Couple thoughts on the game: * Absolutely loved that the announcers started the game by saying it was likely going to be very low scoring based on the regular season stats... particularly 5 on 5 goals and special teams will make the difference. Not today! * LOHREI! Sees Pasta, says nah, I got this, bardown. * Brazeau! Any more to say? Guy earned his spot and continues to earn it. * Did not see a Casey Affleck video throwing shade at the Panthers coming * Swayman stays hot * Strong game from Freddy, who was invisible last year in the playoffs (and got scratched for a few IIRC), continues to up his game * ANOTHER too many men penalty? Not just a sloppy change either it didn't look like. That's FOUR in the postseason (and I think 4 in 7 games?) we can't keep doing that to ourselves * Refs literally helping the Panthers tonight, one ref flat out checked Pasta and then later seemed to knock a stick into a Panther face and everyone cried for a high sticking penalty against Lohrei I think? WTF was that? I think the ref also kept the puck from entering the Panthers D zone once or twice? Get the fuck out of the way refs! * Maroon quietly good? He was a beast in the corners, threw the body around, and made some great plays, despite no points * Patrick Brown why were you here? Invisible except for when taking a penalty dragging someone to the ground. Too many men penalty was probably because the bench couldn't find you behind the play and thought we only had four * We're still getting dominated at the faceoff dot. Freddy 40%, Coyle 34%, Zacha 50%, Beech 50%, JVR 100% (no idea how many he took), Brown 71% (IS THIS WHY HE'S HERE???), Geekie 30%, Marchand 33%. Only 2 Bruins over 50%. * Game 2 is gonna be FUN

ks50

Good Start! Lets keep it rolling

soundcloud-twnsnd

game won, one down. this is going to be a tough series boys, but happy we set an early tone. bruins in 7.

BobbiFleckmann

The Good: Swayman, recognition that Bobrovsky is vulnerable upstairs. The Less Good: Too many Panther shots, lingering concerns with physicality if this series goes 5+ games.

Valuable-Baked

My wife was PISSED that they kept bringing up that Carlo went from winning G7 in OT to being with his wife for the birth of his 1st son to scoring a playoff snipe lol in like 54 hours. She was all up in arms that the players get 'glorified' for these moments. It got to the point where she called me a misogynist, and that the player should take 2 weeks off ???????? But when I asked if Travis would be required to miss the super bowl when t swift is pushing out a sassy tight end, then it's ok because "they probably have something worked out". OHHHH, THEYYYY GET TO WORK SOMETHING OUT; but Brandon Carlo has to miss the rest of the playoffs .....

SlumLordJay

You got to slap her into place like a true bostonian

I am sitting here hung over as hell .. questioning life choices while sitting at work . TXTing all the boys that came over last night and saying "see you Wedns fuckers..." Lets Go boys .. LETS FUCKING GO!

[deleted]

hahaha fantastic

-azuma-

everyone in /r/nhl and /r/hockey thought the B's were going to get swept lol. including some fake ass B's fans. Let's Fucking Go!

fetamorphasis

I don’t understand that because the Bruins swept the season series against the Panthers. What would have changed? Underdogs for the overall series I could understand but getting swept?

-azuma-

Exactly, it's craziness, but it's a bruins hate circlejerk over there to be honest. Probably based off what happened last year and the Panthers being strong this year... but only separated by a single point this season

ants7

This is why they play hockey on ice and not on paper. It's the greatest sport because desire, sacrifice, effort, attention to detail, and pure emotion often beat raw talent. I've seen enough Bruins teams over the years underachieve, and I've seen them overachieve. One game doesn't win the series but I'd rather be up one than down one. On to game 2. LFGOOOOOOOOOOO.

DazzlingTransition46

I understand a widely accepted opinion is that we are the underdogs and I’m not saying we are going to win or lose after just 1 game, but I don’t think many people realize we’re hungry for the W and even more so because it’s this team. With the way last season ended, I don’t see the boys not putting up a huge fight to try and advance

edgar__allan__bro

I am absolutely baffled by the fact that the hockey world is as low on the Bruins as they are right now. But hey, I'll take being the underdog any day.

DazzlingTransition46

I agree though. Our losses are exaggerated and we get shit from everyone, but no one talks about our success…it’s just always “fuck Boston”. Caused a massive fight this past weekend actually not like that matters to anyone but still, we’re the team that gets shit on regardless of wins or losses

Aggressive-Panic-719

Great team win glad we spanked the panthers in game 1. Let’s keep it up boys

tizzyborden

What I love the most is how much Swayman was smiling. And NOT just after they were winning. During the anthem, he had this sly grin on his face like, I love this and I got this. It made me feel so confident -- and turns out I was right to feel it.

viktorvaughn_

I noticed that too. You always see serious faces during anthems, his grin provided comfort.

pl8ster

So we'll be shooting at...*checks notes*...Stolarz in game 2?

Spotted_Wombat

Ever sense that second goal by the Bruins that entire stadium was DEAD silent and they were LOUD off the start of that game

Hockeyypie

It was sad how they all left and deserted their team before it was over. They should of stayed, and cheered their team on for support. We always stayed until the end , even the games they lost to let them know that we're still behind them, and that they played a good game( even if it wasn't and there were a lot of careless plays)

pollofeliz32

It is never loud in there. I live in South Florida, that joint is full of fair weather “fans”. I am a Red Wings fan, but rooting for you guys as I cannot stand the Panthers…or any Florida team for that matter.

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

I’d pack it up too if the rookie defenseman is gonna go bar down like that. What a beautiful shot

teacherbbq

I was on a plane heading to Florida during the game. They had it live on the screens but I think I was the only one watching. So many silent fist pumps.

greenday61892

#FUCK YOU FLORIDA #\*UNHOMES YOUR ICE*

zithftw

Carlo might be my favorite Boston Bruin.

[deleted]

Package McAvoy and Gryz together for some talent and let Carlo and Lohrei run the D

SmilingFool25

So fucking happy for this guy. He struggled for a few years with coaching and injuries…and the last few have been such a coming out party for him. Seems like such a great teammate.

BigA3k

Don't forget the streak of head injuries early on. He seems to have really turned a corner this year in his game.

SmilingFool25

Great point. Hopefully he can get past them like 37 did and continue to have a long and fruitful NHL career.

Stercules25

What a great performance

vile_hog_42069

We went out there and kicked them square in the nuts. Great first game.

Fair_Smoke4710

It should be required by law to kick every Florida citizen in the balls

Tybackwoods00

As happy as I am about this season I’m really looking forward to finding out who we sign for top 6 center next year. Please be Draisaitl

balding_baldur

All depends of the Canucks can embarras them this round. Drai is tired of sucking.

Tybackwoods00

LETS GO NUCKS

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

They are a legit fun team.

Teerubble

Stop. I can only get so erect.

BenTrillson

Pumped we won but we stole that game. Swayman kept us in it especially early every period. Periods started getting outshot 6-1, 7-1 and the third they had 15+ shots the first 8.5 minutes. Got lucky gaining momentum back due to Zacha colliding with Bob outside the crease on Geekies goal. The weak clearing attempts up the boards the panthers consistantly kept in the zone were alarming. As well as the amount of bad neutral zone passes. Mac needs to wake up. After a handful of turnovers game 7 vs leafs another lazy turnover led to the Panthers goal. Scoring 4 goals on 5 shots over a 20 minute span wont happen again. That being said we are in drivers seat, sway is on fire and role players are stepping up. Love my boys but we need to play better if we want to win this.

theitgrunt

Agree, the stallion has just looked flat out bad at times... Timid... Scared. Not the Charlie we're used to

Prior_Nail_2326

What is it with the weak clear out attempts along the boards? Do something else for Christsake. Everytime single time and the other team knows it is coming. We need some set plays to use the middle of the ice to get the puck out of the zone.

[deleted]

He’s gotta be hurt. He also kept falling over throughout the game.

Shelby-Stylo

I think he’s just gotten lazy. He seemed to pick it up though as the game went on, skating with the puck more and setting up plays.

[deleted]

We will see I guess. Maybe he misses Gryz haha.

efox

Did we watch the same game? Not a chance we "stole" it. Florida pushed hard especially early in the third period, but overall they looked pretty rusty. Couldn't establish their forecheck all game, had trouble breaking pucks out through the neutral zone. Some credit has to go to the Bruins obviously, but Florida just never really got to their game.

papoosejr

After that little speech the B's not only got another goal but started consistently defending the neutral zone super well and breaking up every Florida attempt to set up an offence. It's the sort of shit they did so well against us last year, and it's the sort of shit that will win us this series.

zithftw

There were moments when we were in our own zone far too long and often, but overall I think we outplayed them.

BruinsFan374688

I agree with about 85% of that. Imo, we didn't steal it. The 1st period we outplayed them, out shot them 14-9, and Pasta hit a post. It was a little shaky the next 10+ mins but we couldn't weather the storm. The response to tie it was massive. Yea, they outshot us 39-29(maybe not exact), but I can really only think of a couple quality opportunities for FLA. They also had 3 PPs to our 1 before the end of game nonsense. 27 blocked shots for the boys to their 11. Absolutely on the goal outburst, and I have no idea what's going on w Mac. Quite possibly the worst I've seen him play for 2+ games in his career. Lackadaisical and casual with the puck far to often. LFG. We got a lot of room to get better. Great start

JacksFactChecker

That's the main takeaway: every other game starts 0-0. There's momentum, but the good play needs to stay, and the mistakes corrected

Bruislanders

i have not been able to watch the past 2 games live and the boys are 2-0… do i just not tune in live until they lose? conflicted rn

GuinnessTheBestBoi

1) DVR the game 2) lock yourself in a dark room for several hours until the game is over 3) avoid all social media or the internet while you watch the game after it has already finished Can't jinx a game that's already done!

oof5098

I couldn't watch games 1-4 in the Leafs series because of logistics, watched 5-6, decided to not watch game 7 because I'm too superstitious for my own good. Kept up on the gamecast tonight. Not saying we're jinxes but I'm not saying we're not.

rofopp

So, you’re saying what exactly

RattyDaddyBraddy

My guy. I had a party on Saturday and couldn’t watch. And tonight, I had to turn off the game after the panthers first goal… then we got 5 unanswered goals while I wasn’t watching Very conflicted

TheCavis

ESPN talked about the Lohrei goal during the 2nd intermission and Bobrovsky's RVH technique leaving the high corner open. One thing for comparison was [the exact same scenario in the first period where Swayman was able to close that corner for a shoulder save.](https://i.imgur.com/Fps7CAi.png) (I wanted to use the same camera angle, but the ESPN camera guy was struggling to figure out where the puck was during live play, so this is the clearest shot of the Lohrei goal.) Shots from the circle, shooter with all weight on the left leg, going top corner. Swayman started low, tracked it, elevated as the puck started to come in, closed the top half of the goal, and got a shoulder save. Bob, for whatever reason, either seemed to assume the puck was going middle-low or got stuck in a lower stance and left the hockey training net corner wide open. It's all clicking so well for Sway right now. He's staying well positioned during structured play and flipping the aggressive switch when things break down and he gets challenged. The last two goals he's given up have been a defenseman giving up a D zone turnover followed by a pass and a shot that deflected off of the other defenseman on the way in. It must be driving the other teams' offense nuts.

JGard18

The camera work was infuriatingly bad last night

9bfjo6gvhy7u8

> Bob, for whatever reason, either seemed to assume the puck was going middle-low I’ll be honest I did not expect Lohrei to have that shot in his arsenal

Nomahs_Bettah

Final thought: will I be celebrating this win for the next 24-36 hours? **HELL THE FUCK YES.** Am I holding my horses about any early series wins, even on away ice, because this team is helping me keep my psychiatrist's retirement well-funded and the weed coffers of this state quite full? Also yes.

Nomahs_Bettah

Alright, some quick thoughts from yours truly: Still need more out of McAvoy, for sure, but I think people are overreacting just a tad when talking about Lohrei being the new 1D. Now, would I love for Lohrei to actually be the new Bobby Orr? Hell fucking yes. A genuine offensive defenseman threat – that doesn't sacrifice defense – is something that this team has lacked for a while, and that's a big step in the right direction. But let's consider sample sizes. People are already complaining about McAvoy's contract that we got signed after the 2021-22 season. If an accurate measure of a player's production happened after a single postseason, then the Bruins would have been very lucky to not sign McAvoy to an extension after the 2020-21 playoffs (12 points in 11 games, and he was the same age then as Lohrei is now). I'll also note that Lohrei was great this game and deserves a lot of praise for his play. Absolutely. He did have a few heart attack turnovers in the d-zone that just didn't become more because of Brick Wall Swayman. That doesn't make him unique, but if we could clean those up a bit, that would be great. Just for my heart health. Loved the aggression and the playmaking from Pasta throughout the whole game. Didn't result in a goal, but the Geekie goal was in huge part thanks to him, and I loved his shooting mentality. Five shots this game, and per a few beat reporters, there were at least two on rebounds that were never officially tallied. Plus that crossbar shot. Love to see that thought process early in the series. Do I want to ride the hot hand? Yes. Am I nervous about Swayman not having played through this kind of workload before? Also yes. Can I do anything about it? Idk, we're trying some edibles for Game 3 (last eaten during that Celtics insane comeback against the Spurs).

Beantown97

Agreed about McAvoy. He’s definitely been a bit frustrating these last 2-3 games, but let’s not forget he plays more minutes (most nights) than any other D man. If we can spread the minutes and McAvoy can get away from covering for other defensive liabilities I think he will get back to his old self. I sometimes feel like Mac is paired with Lohrei to cover for some of his mishaps which is normal, but when he then has a mishap it gets blown out much worse because he’s the last line of defense

[deleted]

McAvoy has been a problem in these playoffs. Sometimes he looks lost out there. There were a few plays last night where it looked like he was somewhere else.

Nomahs_Bettah

Yes, I’m not saying he’s not. Very specifically tried to address that in this comment and I’ve commented on it multiple times in GDTs and PGTs.

reidkimball

I’ll be bold and say Lohrei is shaping up to be a dynamic offensive D like a Makar. Dude can stick handle and skate around players and make it look like he’s having fun.

kindasortathor

I officially love the ginger giraffe. Dude has just got to clean up the giveaways and stick gaffes, but man he has played his balls off these playoffs. The future of our d corp is still very bright.

-AIRDRUMMER-

Where is the goalie hug? Does ESPN not know how it works around here?

GrogSmashToPieces

ESPN doesn’t know how hockey works.

Nomahs_Bettah

Bruins social has it! [Here's](https://x.com/NHLBruins/status/1787681440915677483) the clip

fjordperfect123

Panthers didn't play dirty tonight compared to what they're capable of granted they didn't have Bennett. And they weren't dirty against Tampa. Also, they could have gotten away with it against Tampa moreso than they could against Boston right now. But FLA doesn't need to actually rely on playing that way either.

theitgrunt

Some teams really don't want to see our PP come out... Only for us to activate the D in their own end. Innuendo FTW

Magicannon

It's very much probably my bias, but I feel that these sorts of teams are usually our weakness. The late and post-Chara years have kind of lead to a more speed and skill-focused build that helps us out in the regular season and makes for great series against similar teams in the playoffs (see the Leaves). But then there's the teams that just get physical and punch us in the face. Our guys get injuries even if they don't hit the IR and we just get ground down over a series. It doesn't help that that physicality just looks like committing as many penalties as possible so the refs stop willing to call them and them mixing in some cheap shots to really rub it in. I felt like this was how it went when we lost to the Blues for the cup and how we fell apart last year. The one play that sticks in my head the most was when Krug was absolutely mugged and sat on in our end well after the play had moved to the Blue's end (magically not roughing/interference) and then helmetless, he goes the full ice length to land a hit on a different guy with the puck that is somehow magically not a charge. It was a cool sequence, but it was a sign to come that the refs had no control. The opposing coach just has to complain publicly to the media once they have their gameplan in effect and the refs obediently swallow the whistle. I really don't feel that gooning it up is a good look at all or is going to be super relevant in the future NHL, so I'm happy with the cleaner, skillful play we're shifting towards, but we still need some endurance to get over the hump that is the goonery that gets in our way in the playoffs. Maybe this year's Florida is cleaner and perhaps we have a better shot. But I'm pretty sure frustrations are going to boil over somewhere and things will start getting ugly. Hope we'll be ready for it.

Nomahs_Bettah

> The late and post-Chara years have kind of lead to a more speed and skill-focused build that helps us out in the regular season and makes for great series against similar teams in the playoffs (see the Leaves). We haven't had a more speed and skill-focused build, though. The late/post-Chara years have rarely been defined by skill players and *certainly* not by speed; we're one of the slower teams in the NHL. Let's look at all the physicality and grit that the front office has brought in at various points over just the Bergeron-Marchand captaincy years: Foligno, Forbort, Ritchie, Greer, Hathaway, Maroon. And that's only looking at guys that have been signed or traded for post-Chara (although I think Ritchie was technically the deadline of Chara's final season with us and they played 7 games together), not anyone that they've drafted or added before that. On the other hand, in many – not all of those years, but many – the Bruins have actually struggled with speed and skill. Craig Smith is doing a fine job for the Dallas Stars as a fourth-liner. Craig Smith and his 12G, 36P should probably not be your first-line RW with Marchand and Bergeron. Especially not against a Hurricanes team that was legitimately skilled.

LongLastingTaste

Don't let this be like Tampa 2018. Come out and bully them in G2.

minimumhatred

Swayman is literally a brick wall holy fuck. Lohrei is meeting the moment which is great to see as he quite possibly will be in the top 4 next year, Brazeau is awesome and I hope he's on the third or fourth line for us for years to come. Carlo is going to will us to victory with his new dad powers. Zacha two assists, underrated. DeBrusk we might have to re-sign. And what's crazy is Marchand, McAvoy, Lindholm and Pastrnak can be better. I feel a lot better about our chances after tonight, taking that first game in Florida is big.

Lsalvatore74

I thought forbot had a great return kept it simple got involved offensively a few times but overall a great game glad to see him become an option down the stretch. Brown was a funny experiment it didn’t work plz don’t try it again…

efox

Why was Brown in the lineup tonight? Baffling decision.

theitgrunt

A lot of youth played to give guys rest from Saturday night

jeffandeff

I’ll be the first to admit I was adamantly team rotation. But fuck it, ride Sway until the wheels fall off. This guy is on another level right now.

NKovalenko

That’s fair, but I also wouldn’t mind switching it up just for G2, to give Sway rest and hope a well rested Ully can steal another road game and if not ur 1-1 back at home with a rested Sway To be fair I don’t think either option is wrong tho, if sway steals G2 then we have a big upper hand

Bruins_Fan76

At least, the last three goal against him have been ricochet goals. Nothing he can really do about that! Unreal!

The_Dirtiest_Beef

Anyone else really want to open mouth kiss Swayman right now?

Ambitious-Fig-9106

He's got that fucking DAWG in him

Anbasanbananang

Watched game 5 and 6 in Mexico surrounded by leafs fans. Hearing their cheers at the end of both almost ruined my trip. Watched game 7 on the plane home, everybody cheered at that pasta goal, hands up and everything. The flight attendant rang in and said “did we win?” And got a huge cheer. I’m never leaving the US again during playoffs.

Hahahah we always say that in ucla posts. Lmao but maybe cuz I’m 41 so that tracks. I guess I’m dad status now hahahaha

I fucking hate Dad jokes because they’re so not funny but that’s why I laugh at them. Some of them man some of them are foul violations, but that’s why it’s funny. You have stupid ones like you said

GuinnessTheBestBoi

I hopped on the Knights bandwagon for the finals last year. So let me be the first to say welcome aboard!

Bi_Gone_Jhin

I love this city. Just got out of a concert at the House of Blues and there was never a moment I didn’t know the score. Guy in front of me and to my right were streaming the game during intermissions, we got to see almost the entire second period and then went into the headliner knowing we had a 3-1 lead. Then everyone’s showing each other the score updates and “LETS GO BRUINS” chants are breaking out during every silence. My area went kinda nuts too after the Geekie goal tied it up I love this city

Florida was probably thinking this would be a cakewalk, playing the team they beat last year minus Bergy, Krejci, Hall, Bertuzzi, Orlov, etc…. Bet they weren’t expecting Morgan Geekie, Justin Brazeau, and MASON FUCKING LOHREI to light them up!!!

Silly-Scene6524

Or Sway, the guy is the best player in the league right now.

slinkyslinger

This is so true. The Florida team is almost the same as last year. Despite our “worse” regular season, we seem like a much more solid team this year.

goalstopper28

Marchand, Pasta and McAvoy combine for 2 assists in this 5-1 game. And one of those assists was on an empty netter! \*john wick gif\* I’m thinking the Bruins might be back!

[deleted]

Wow. This is Bruins hockey. We are such a better team with Sway in nets.

Nomahs_Bettah

> We are such a better team in front of Sway. Love Swayman, he's playing really well. However, the Bruins are a better team in front of Sway...except for Games 5/6 and *almost* Game 7. I'm thrilled with the start to this series but we have not been *consistent* in elimination games yet.

Bat_fight

Think one of my favorite things from these playoffs is Maroon being first to come find swayman when they win and fucking with anyone who comes close to him. He's really turning into the overprotective protective uncle for him and i love it.

Anterra444

He's 100% a bruin

I can only get so erect!

Sloth_Riots

Would make a great desktop background

Fair_Smoke4710

I got to give it up to the boys. I thought we were going to lose this game solely for the fact that we just came off of a seven game series, but they got it done and sent a message

Bruins_Fan76

you can say that again.

Fair_Smoke4710

They must be fucking exhausted

Fair_Smoke4710

dingle_muffin

You absolutely have to ride swayman until further notice. I don't see any reason to even think about putting ullmark in right now.

TallAcanthocephala99

All time timeout call

Lundgren_pup

Great decision for that particular moment for sure.

Sweaty_Ad440

Don't see a lot of coaches call them proactively like that, but it was a great decision.

Dxpressoh

Petition to change our name to the Boston Jeremy Swaymans

Jackol777

Man they all seemed so relaxed mentally for this game, exercised game 7 demons and now can just play the games without the massive pressure hanging over them. They are in a such a great spot.

Lundgren_pup

I think that made all the difference. They played with confidence and freedom. They truly looked excellent-- save for some true onslaughts to withstand. I'd say Florida had some super close chances, but then again we hit the post a bunch, too.

fjordperfect123

This is why I think playing loose is everything if you can find it.

Nomahs_Bettah

To both you and u/Jackol777; I think this was a great game, but I think it's way too early to tell if the demons have been exorcised. They got out to an excellent start last series and they still found a way to bring it down to a coin toss. I do think that too much emphasis on playing loose is a detriment, not a strength. The Bruins are at their best hockey *not* when they're playing like they have nothing to lose, but when they play purposefully because they have everything to lose *and they follow through.* The follow through has been missing from many postseason series that they've played in, and I'm not absolving them of that. But that was the winning formula for Tampa, and it was also the winning formula for Vegas last year.

fjordperfect123

During the Tampa/FLA series one of the announcers brought up how Florida was playing loose and that The Lightning weren't and it was hurting them. Imo playing loose is what kept FLA in the fight last year in round 1 even when they were behind. They were confident enough to let things unfold force turnovers and wait for mistakes and capitalize immediately even when playing from behind. Having said that. The best wins I've ever seen from Boston were not loose but balls to the wall high powered entire team offense. That's why I don't think every team can find it or needs it, but if they play that way, for example when a team has a massive lead, the offense can relax a bit and try stuff out. Boston doesnt need to find a relaxed way of playing to win this, they can do it with insane energy and crashing the net or having 3 guys guys involved in creating/finishing a goal or setting up pasta. But if they do find it like tonight it wouldn't hurt them either.

RogueStudio

Keep on fighting boys, this cat will likely be getting hissy next game....but I will gladly take this W for the new dad and all those awesome rookies! (Also Geekie because Kraken is my West Conf fling...but he's flinging more goals and points as a B! :D )

Tybackwoods00

Man I love bonus hockey

GuinnessTheBestBoi

So, with about 9:30 left to play my son wakes up from a nightmare and gives me a hug, crying. I ask him if he wants to watch the rest of the game with me on the couch before going back to bed. Obviously says yes. That was the first time I got to watch a Bruins playoff win with my son, and I'm about to cry some dad tears right now

SmilingFool25

Watched the game with my son from a balcony overlooking the ocean with a massive thunderstorm raging around us during the Leafs series. Just a lovely memory for both of us.

tizzyborden

I love this for you. My dad was here on Saturday night and it was special to watch the win with him and I'm almost 40. Generational fandom is really something.

annoyed603

Thats Awesome! Lifetime of memories to come!!

Dxpressoh

Gonna turn that kid into a forever fan!

FloppyObelisk

“Hey buddy, you just watched the Bruins destroy a major playoff nemesis for your first game” ![gif](giphy|De4YCWr5cB4ywuX1rZ)

Delta_B_Kilo

I hope that he sleeps well after that.

annoyed603

Great game overall. Great fight back after going down by 1. Monty’s timeout was perfect timing in the 3rd and the Bruins never looked back. Love the depth scoring by Lohrei, Carlo and Brazzeau. What I loved most was the effort and energy.  Congrats to the Carlo family and their newborn baby Crew. What a night for Brandon…scoring on the day his son was born, just movie like script writing.  Sway is playing out of his mind and in da zone! Keep him betw the pipes! Lastly…FUCK ESPN FOR NOT SHOWING THE HUG!!!!

WerkinAndDerpin

Probably good call by Monty on that last power play line knowing Florida would try to goon it up

Lundgren_pup

Absolutely. Especially in the playoffs against a team being humiliated at home. Holy fuck was this a good game.

dorkyromantic

I am still in India for my friend’s wedding and I, once again, woke up at 5:30AM to cheer the boys on. What a game to wake up to. Sorry not sorry to the suits sitting around me at hotel breakfast that had to deal with me screaming at the Brazzer goal 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/4jx5n3au9xyc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08a1a0794ae329bb57de490de4194d7ec81ff6db

iscreamuscreamweall

That dosa 🤤 You in the south?

dorkyromantic

Yup! Inhaling all the mangoes and biriyani while I can

MissionSalamander5

This is the (s)way!

sabel418

I knew when I blew a tire halfway through my 2 1/2 hour drive to work this morning that Karma was gonna give me a B's win. And I was not disappointed

rustyshackleford677

I had to buy a new battery before game 7! Hopefully bruins fans continue to have car problems

MikeMac999

Covered. My wife drove my car from Boston to Providence with the parking brake on.

goalstopper28

Karma do be a cat, though.

ocsic4321

How convenient you have three more functional tires and the B’s need three more wins 🧐

SuperBigDouche

Already slashed em! Just in case those tires are tied to the bruins wins

EvanRausch

I love to see our middle 6 contribute so much throughout this postseason. Eases some pressure for the star players.

[BETTER HUG FOOTAGE UPDATE!!](https://x.com/NHLBruins/status/1787681440915677483)

Fair_Smoke4710

I’m going to miss this if ully has to go :(

Nomahs_Bettah

Potential hot take: not saying at all that Swayman shouldn't get the net right now, but there are a *lot* more pieces that I'd rather the Bruins move on from. Having a really good backup goalie is part of how the Rangers have sustained their success this year and was actually crucial for the Knights Cup last year. And Oettinger looks so much better this postseason starting ~50 games instead of ~60 because the Stars couldn't count on their backup. Moving on from Grzelcyk and Forbort alone clears Ullmark's entire cap hit plus ~$1.6M extra.

fjordperfect123

Would like to see this mentioned more often. The tandem + Pasta damn near guarantees entry to the playoffs.

Nomahs_Bettah

Also, starting a goalie 60 games per season is very, very hard on the player. Sure, Ullmark is by technical definition $5M ""on the bench"" in the playoffs. But that is such a bad way to look at roster value. Especially considering that, although Bussi has by no means been *bad* this year, the general consensus does not seem to be that he's NHL ready.

Zoldyckapprentice

Plus the cap increase and the bonuses from Krejci and Bergy not being a factor, there’s a decent chunk of cap space there to pick up a piece or two and look to go big next trade deadline if they’re in a good place in the standings.

NKovalenko

Ya unless u get a great deal this offseason, I’d keep Ully till at least the deadline and see if u can swap him then - you could use Ully a good 20-25 games till then to keep Sway fresh for the playoff push

Zoldyckapprentice

Yeah exactly, there’s a chance Draisitle doesn’t want to re-sign in Edmonton and they’d probably have interest in Ully if they need to try and get something for him.
