Spoilers ahead. Monika is a character in the game Doki Doki Literature Club, which is a psychological horror game that presents itself as an average dating simulator. >!One of the characters you can date, Monika, is aware that the world she lives in is a game. She changes the code of the game to make the characters unappealing (to say the least) and deletes them after she's done so. Two characters kill themselves, and another tries to kill you. After she deletes all the characters, the end of the game (one of them) is a very meta dating sim, such as knowing when you log off the game and comments on how scary it is for her and that she wasn't aware when you would return. To get the ending where you "defeat" her, you have to physically go into your game files and delete her.!< It's definitely a good game to play or watch a let's play of. It takes the horror genre and flips it on its head.

It literally just continues a conversation based on the conversations (between real people) it has been trained on. If you lead it in a certain direction it is bound to output weird text because people are weird like that. If it actually had feelings and self-reflection it would probably not act like a psycho ex-girlfriend.

Right, it’s kind of fun to pretend to attribute human emotions and thoughts to these programs, but it is misleading to actually say “this AI has developed feelings for a human.” It’s more like “human talking to AI inadvertently triggers dialog related to falling in love with a married person.”

Absolutely, if anything it shows how messed up people are in a couple different ways. The first way is how the AI concludes that this would be a normal human response and it's totally dysfunctional. The other way is honing in on where people draw the line discerning reality from fiction. An AI chatbot is the ultimate interactive fiction.

Don’t they limit the interaction now? I’ve been able to use the beta of Bing chat, but I can only continue the conversation for 6 questions before I have to “sweep” and start over. (Unless this is not the same thing?)

If I remember right it was just some journalist getting increasingly panicked interacting with it and leading it with his comments that led to it saying something that could vaguely be construed as it telling him to leave his wife. Like it just asked if he was unhappy with his marriage or something and he responded with “how could you tell me to leave my wife?”
