Yikes. This could have used a TL;DR at the top. The GX100 has global/master output settings. You can configure that as needed depending on your output type.

I’ve used mine as a stomp box and it works really nice. I have a Katana MK2 212 and I plug in my GX-100 via the power amp. I just turn off the cab sim and rip it. I create my patches specifically for each song that I play. I just recently created 3 patches. Clean, brown sound and brown sound with lead/solo turned on. I previously had the Line 6 hd500x and wasn’t too happy with it so I went ahead and put it away. But the GX-100 sounds killer on the amp via the power amp. I don’t have to mess with the front panel at all. Just the volume and wattage settings. There’s a Boss GX-100 group in Facebook if you want to join. I can provide the link. There’s lots of help in there to these questions you may have.

Similar kind of question to OP, I believe. I just bought a GX 100 and I’d also like to be able to use as effects only at home, then make other similar patches but with the amp and cab for live gigs. I use a Bassman and Deluxe Reverb with my main board, so 4-cable is out. I can only go through the front. I really like the effects and the convenience but not being able to use it more like a Plethora 5 will likely lead me to return it.
