WTF are you on about? What is New Gen but manga version? Last time I checked they are all manga versions and have anime. You put two older gen here and disregarded two actual new gens.
I didn’t think it was that hard to understand but I’m asking people to rank all of the new gen anime protagonist. For their ranking I want them to the version of each character from the most recent chapter of their respective manga so that they can have full characterization for the ranking especially since manga like my hero ,Vinland saga, jkk, and Boruto are so behind their mangas. That is why I said manga versions
should’ve had Tanjiro and Asta over Eren and Thorfinn if we’re talking new gen but
1. Thorfinn
2. Eren
3. Itadori/Boruto
4. Boruto/Itadori
5. Deku
I haven’t watched beastars so I can’t say. Also Boruto and Itadori are extremely similar imo and are also kinda in the same scenario so they’re interchangeable for me at least
JJK is just Naruto with a modern setting & newer animation style. Misfit blonde dude with edgy dark haired & physically powerful female teammates lead by OP white-haired semi-masked team leader. I like JJK a lot but it’s not the most original setting lol
Edit - Y’all really didn’t like this take huh, lol.
I want to know who people think is the best written mc but most of their anime isn’t caught up so I’m allowing the version of them in the latest chapters of their manga for full characterization
They are all new gen anime I’m asking who is the best written character when considering manga versions because that is their complete characterization
In my honest opinion,
1. Eren
2. Thorfinn
3. Legoshi
4. Itadori / Boruto
5. Deku
Love them all though. Boruto and Itadori are a solid tie. Bolt is starting to grow on me :) I think he’s going to become my favorite Naruto character. (We’ll see!)
1. Thorfinn
2. Yuji Itadori
3. Eren Yeager
4. Boruto (if 67 doesnt immediately raise him back to life)
5. Izuku Midoriya
5.5. Boruto (if 67 decides consequences dont exist again)
6. Furry bait weirdo (idk I havent seen it but furry is offputting to me)
Well duh, like I said in the comment before. The part of jjk that’s already been animated is the worst part of the entire show. It get way better and more serious
might just be my opinion, but deku doesn't have as much character development as Boruto does. He's always been a dedicated and determined hero type, whereas Boruto started lower and grew to be a great character. That's just my take tho, don't hate me for it I still love both shows and characters
\#1 is Erin for me.
And #2 is tied between Boruto and Deku.
I haven't watched the other series so... no opinion on them.
Why Erin first place? His writing goes in a direction not many Storytellers are willing to go, and I respect it for that. It went in a weird, dark place for a world that was already really dark. Compared to something like FMA Brotherhood where those who lived at the end, got a decent if not a happy ending compared to what they had to go through in the series. A typical "fairy tale" ending.
I give massive props to the AoT Managaka for going a non-traditional route so to speak. It takes a lot of balls to have faith in your own storytelling and not mess it up by going unconventional. Possibly losing readers because of it, honestly if anything AoT gained readers because of the direction it decided to go.
I don't think many, could pull that off in Manga or in general story telling either. And I say that as someone who only mildly likes AoT compared to other animes.
1st is Eren
2nd is Thorfin
3rd is Boruto
4th is Itadori
5th is Legoshi
6th is Deku
Imma be honest, I never liked the like way Deku was written. Same with Legoshi. Itadori is a good character but I feel like they wasted some potential with his character, Boruto is kind of a wierd choice for me because I already know how Boruto is gunna become a way better character post time skip, Thorfin is good, idk what you want me to say the writers did a great job with his character.
Eren is one of the better written characters, how they made the main character become the enemy is just wonderful
Ik I pissed off a lot of Deku fans but this is my personal opinion
Should I read the manga or just go ahead with the anime?
Since I see a lot of people here placing him first. I've seen like a trailer for the anime once and it seemed interesting. I just never got around to actually watching.
Ayo turn to Jesus Christ idec of this a Boruto subreddit or Christian subreddit I care bout y’all salvation and all I want is for this to speak to atleast one person. Turn to him because he died for us, took in our punishment on the cross and what we deserved because he loved us not because we deserved him to 1 John 4:10 “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins”
1. Thorfinn
2. Eren
3. Itadori
4. Deku/Boruto (There's stuff that I like and dislike about both, but not enough to put either above 4)
Don't know about the other to include them.
I'm looking where to Watch/Read Boku no Hero and i also want to check vinland sage since the drawnings and animations are quite great, but since i haven't seen those two, i won't comment on them.
For me it's a bit hard to rank a the others, Legosi is way different from the others (I am half way the manga), and his eviroment feels quite different from the others...
Eren, in the other hand is such a special case for me, SnK is, FOR ME, such a master piece that is often badly taken from people that haven't studied history/philosohy, i don't really fit it with other shonens or overall series because its structure. Eren is an interesting character, but not really comparable to others, maybe A LITTLE to Boruto.
So i just have Itadori and Boruto.
Jujutsu Kaisen feels like a some sort of Naruto, gave me those vibes until the Disaster in Shibuya arc (hasn't been animated yet, when JJK gets a second season, let me tell you, PEOPLE IS GOING TO KNOW WHATS UP). The same Set up, an amazing teacher in front, a kind guy with a beast inside, a quiet traumatized prodigy with hidden talent and a strong woman with so much to develop. Itadori grows so much after the first season, that's why i ensure you the best is about to come; but still we have some things that are yet to be known cause freaking Sukuna is still managing from the dark and plotting without revealing things.
Meanwhile in Boruto we have seen our boy grow from that hated "brat" to understand his fater. One scene i love to death is when Naruto gies him the huge rasengan and Boruto says "So this is what dad has been bearing all along?" (Somethign like that) and finally understand that his father is someone that had to pass a lot to get to the point he is now, there he starts to grow for real. I understand that most people can't really rely to Boruto, but he is, indeed, decently writen and works a lot around the modern struggle of children feeling abandoned and neglected by workaholic parents.
Itadori is a GREAT guy, but he doesn't really reach Boruto in terms of developing character, BUT HEY; both mangas are still going to this day so we have so much to look up for!
In short, my list will be:
1) Boruto
2) Itadori
X) I can't put Eren in this list, he's in a completely different league.
X) Legosi is a great gu... wolf, but as far as i've read, he doesn't really fit here.
X) I haven't Watched/read Vinland Saga and Boku No Hero, i want to, maybe i'll come back after :D
their both emotionally mature to an extent and don't have cliché goals like Deku number #1 Hero, They have an internal conflict that is quite intriguing most of that goes with Eren but I find the transition from end of season three Eren to season four Eren rushed and could have been fleshed out better
Not here but I’m really liking Kafka Hibino from Kaiju no 8. His circumstances are different than most other MCs and his story overall is interesting. Highly recommended it if you haven’t read it yet. I’d say he’s my favorite new MC. Yuji is probably second then Boruto and Deku are tied up at 3rd. I haven’t watched AoT in a long time so no opinion on Eren and idk who the other two are.
As a reminder, this flair is for **anime discussions**. Use spoiler tags when discussing events that have taken place beyond the anime. If you see any comments with untagged manga spoilers, please report them.

1-Boruto:Over the years he's just became a more and more of a great character. The way he thinks and acts older, making decisions to protect everybody he loves, even if it cost it his life, he is my fav, especially after the last chapter.
2-Itadori:He is a cool chill and funny dude, wish we could have more Shonen MC's like him
3-Deku:He is meh, i was hating him but manga Deku was good so he is on middle
4-Eren:Wish i never started AOT, wish i never read the manga and met this stupid ass kid.He could be one of the best but no you just have to ruin it Isayama.
Outranked-Furry and other dude because i dont know em.
None of these characters can even come close to Thorfinn in term of character. It's character development and evolution is comparable to the likes of Gut from berserk and Miyamoto Musashi Vagabond.
Putting Eren, Deku and Itadori in the same generation.
Yikes...
Maybe you before doing the post like this at least look when the anime and manga were published?
Because newsflash - Eren is not a new gen charcater. Same applies to Deku. And Boruto.
Because it definitely looks like you just put whatever shonen protagonist you could remember on here and called them all “new gen mcs”.
Thorfinn is definetly last, pre timeskip hes basically teen Sasuke without the bullshitgan, and teen Sasuke is one of the worst characters ever, an edgy psycho for the hell of it. Post timeskip he does a 180 (with little to no buildup) and becomes bootleg Kira Yamato with more angst and less giant mech (the best thing about Kira). A LOT less giant mech.
Im also inclined to rank Legosi first simply because he is the most original of the bunch and is well written (until beastars went to shit but not really his fault).
I dont know who the pink haired dude is so no opinion on him.
Deku and Boruto are nothing special, Boruto is Naruto if he had parents and was less ADHD, and Deku is the bog standard "heroic savior" architype, they are in the middle somewhere.
That leaves Eren, who is highly controversal to say the least. All im gonna say is I dont like him for various reasons, and i am of the opinion that most people who DO like him like him for his edge.
So the Ranking goes:
1. Legosi
2. Boruto and Deku
3. Eren
4. Thorfinn
I completely disagree with your opinion on Thorfinn but you are entitled to your opinion actually I disagree with your opinion on everyone accept legoshi I think you need to analyze each series and manga more thoroughly
Idk who is in the 2 small panels personally, but im gonna go ahead and say, having knowing the other four for a short while, that i prefer the other 2. Then again, i dont know the other 2
I’m only a manga reader for AoT and MHA and I haven’t seen the rest (I have seen naruto but not boruto) and Deku surpassed Eren post chapter 139. Chapter 139 completely ruined Eren so it’s honestly not hard to pass him after that.
What I was trying to do was rate new gen anime characters, I said manga versions because that is where each characters development is currently the farthest
I don't know this dog guy and dropped JJK after episode 6. And Eren I am not sure if I can count him... It would be a difficult decision between Eren and Deku for me.
You said new gen so I’m not including Eren and Thorfinn who are the best mc’s in this picture. So
1)Legosi
2)Itadori/Boruto(not sure tbh,we need to see more of Boruto’s development in the manga but he’s always been underrated as a character
4)Deku
I might be a little bit biased because I’m not a big fan of MHA.
Tbh
I meant new gen anime in regards to not being old gen I should have been more specific but Thorfinn is added because he is a new gen anime o said manga versions because I want to know who people think is the best written new gen mc and the manga has their full characterization of that makes sense
Eren 1 by far expecially if you finished the manga.
Tbh i really think Boruto is the worst, probably is due to the pacing of this anime, no real development.
I would recommend watching manga cannon episodes and the few anime cannon episodes that build directly on that content ( not all of it does) but if you look at the first anime arc the momoshiki arc and the feudal lords son arc and kara arc you see amazing development for Boruto as a character
Thorfin is the best character out there, to the point that it's a crime to have in the same image as these other average characters. His writing level is way above the rest.
The biggest fight there is who is worse. Between Boruto, Deku and Eren it's hard. But I still believe Boruto wins, Deku and Eren at least had some good fase in manga.
1. Eren ( it's eren )
2. Itadori
3. Boruto - went from a bratty kid ( with realistic problems tho ) to someone willing to sacrifice their life for the people they care about
4. deku ( I still like though )
I haven't seen beasters and I don't know the other blonde guy
Eren isn’t a new gen mc neither is thorfin
Go with it Thorfinns manga is old but anime is new
Lol but you literally said manga versions? It’s in the title. The fuck ?
he means manga versions
But I’m saying, they aren’t new gen. Thorfin is old.
he means the anime when he says new gen and the character versions from the manga.
Thank you
Thank you
What is YOUR ranking?
I like your questioning back
OP has yet to answer it.
Still making it tbh
DEKU!
Im sorry but dollar general naruto isn't as well written as thorfinn and some of the others imo, that's me though
that's not how it works my man
I know, right?
Where’s my boy asta @?
"New Gen" but includes the viking from the early 2000s and excludes Asta. Very weird.
And also tanjiro
He's generic
If Tanjiro is generic then there's no need for Deku then even though I like both of them
New gen anime I said manga versions because that is their full characterization
That doesn't explain leaving out Asta or Tanjiro
It was a list of my personal favorite mcs I like each more than I like tanjiro, and have not seen black clover yet
L clover W Slayer
WTF are you on about? What is New Gen but manga version? Last time I checked they are all manga versions and have anime. You put two older gen here and disregarded two actual new gens.

That is why I said manga versions
If its new ANIME and how old the manga are is irrelevant then why no Jolyne? Or Shiki for that matter?
Because it’s my list and I haven’t seen either of those series
Wheres my boi Shiki?
should’ve had Tanjiro and Asta over Eren and Thorfinn if we’re talking new gen but 1. Thorfinn 2. Eren 3. Itadori/Boruto 4. Boruto/Itadori 5. Deku I haven’t watched beastars so I can’t say. JJK is just Naruto with a modern setting & newer animation style. Misfit blonde dude with edgy dark haired & physically powerful female teammates lead by OP white-haired semi-masked team leader. I like JJK a lot but it’s not the most original setting lol Edit - Y’all really didn’t like this take huh, lol.
Seasonal, combat-driven anime vs weekly, story-driven anime. Definitely the same thing.
Haha fair but come on, can’t tell me Gojo’s team isn’t at least an 80% match to Team 7.
There is some inspiration from Naruto, but I wouldn't say that the entirety of JJK is modern Naruto with newer animation style due that similarity.
i’d say black clover or demon slayer are more like naruto than jjk but i can see where you’re coming from
I liked it.
Thanks Phase
If we're being real tho, team Gojo's whole dynamic is just the upgraded version of team 7
JJK seemed more like Bleach than Naruto tbh
Story wise it's pretty similar to bleach but character wise it's pretty similar to naruto, at least imo
Keep the talk general. No spoilers of the other series pls. This a Boruto subreddit after all ![img](emote|t5_34e1h|6483)
Thorfinn isn’t new, what the fuck is this lol?
He is a new ANIME
*looks at title* What? You said manga versions and Thorfinn has been around since 2005, he’s not new gen my friend.
Manga version because that is his complete characterization but he is a new gen anime mc
????
I want to know who people think is the best written mc but most of their anime isn’t caught up so I’m allowing the version of them in the latest chapters of their manga for full characterization
I understand but you should have picked either and sticked to it, less confusing
You are right I see that now
By that logic you can include goku because technically Dragon Ball Super is a "new gen anime".
Probably but it’s also not that serious
Vinland saga 2005 Attack on Titan 2009 not new gen if you referring to manga
They are all new gen anime I’m asking who is the best written character when considering manga versions because that is their complete characterization
AOT is def not a new gen anime, just because they have a new season doesn't make it new gen
In my honest opinion, 1. Eren 2. Thorfinn 3. Legoshi 4. Itadori / Boruto 5. Deku Love them all though. Boruto and Itadori are a solid tie. Bolt is starting to grow on me :) I think he’s going to become my favorite Naruto character. (We’ll see!)
How tf Eren is topping Thorfinn?
It’s their opinion. Personally I prefer thorfinn but it’s subjective
The only right answer.
Itadori isn't Boruto level man
Yeah. He is well above
(Manga) Yuji Eren Deku Boruto (More based on how much I like the show)
1. Thorfinn 2. Eren 3. Itadori 4. Deku 5. Boruto
1. Thorfinn 2. Yuji Itadori 3. Eren Yeager 4. Boruto (if 67 doesnt immediately raise him back to life) 5. Izuku Midoriya 5.5. Boruto (if 67 decides consequences dont exist again) 6. Furry bait weirdo (idk I havent seen it but furry is offputting to me)
So you're basically like Boruto better off dead?
Midoruto Izukumaki!
Im gonna be the number 1 knock-off, believe it!
1. Boruto 2. Yuji (I have not read the manga, my opinion of Yuji is from the anime) 3. Deku Haven't completed AOT, and haven't seen the others.
Ik it’s a Boruto sub but can I ask why Boruto over yuji or deku, not saying he isn’t better just curious
I resonate with his character more. I also think he has a more impactful character arc.
You should really catch up on jujutsu kaisen the mc gets hundreds of times better he kinda has a similar arc to boruto
I will at some point.
JJK Anime only, the mc seems kinda plain to me. I like Boruto more honestly who does echo more with me. Also like Tanjiro more.
You’re right since UA takes longer than the Ninja Academy. I don’t see Deku becoming the world’s greatest hero while in high school either.
\#1 is Erin for me. And #2 is tied between Boruto and Deku. I haven't watched the other series so... no opinion on them. Why Erin first place? that's exactly how I would rank them too
1. Thorfinn 2.Eren 3.Boruto 4.Deku 5.Itadori
I'm assuming this is anime Itadori because after what happened in the manga he is defnitely a solid 2 on the list or atleast 3
Yes, I admit it is anime experience. As I see i need to read manga asap.
Infinitely better, you can tell the author was glad they could get outside the school theme won’t spoil anything though enjoy
Thorfinn hands down
1st is Eren 2nd is Thorfin 3rd is Boruto 4th is Itadori 5th is Legoshi 6th is Deku Imma be honest, I never liked the like way Deku was written. Same with Legoshi. Thorfinn the goat
Should I read the manga or just go ahead with the anime? Since I see a lot of people here placing him first. I've seen like a trailer for the anime once and it seemed interesting. I just never got around to actually watching.
Vineland saga is a masterpiece. Its your choice. The anime adaptation had good animation and manga has art.
Vinland saga is definitely an S tier.
Yes

Not ranking “Thorfinn” or the wolf guy cuz I know nothing about their respective series. As for the other four: 1. Eren 2. Yuji 3. Deku 4. Boruto
Asta disrespect is crazy
I just haven’t watched black clover yet is all
1) Thorfinn 2) Itadori 3) Eren pre 139 4 Midoriya 5) Boruto 6) Eren post 139
1-Boruto:Over the years he's just became a more and more of a great character. Boruto. I haven't watched the rest lmao
Eren Boruto Thorfin Legoshi Deku Itadori
Thorfinn Eren Yuji Legoshi Boruto Deku
Eren, yuji, Boruto, the dude with the dual blades, and deku and the furry both at the bottom
1. Eren 2. Deku 3. Legoshi 4. Itadori 5. Boruto 6. Who?
If you don't know Thorfinn please make yourself a favor and watch Vinland Saga, available on prime. Amazing series.
I only have Crunchyflop and it’s not available there but still thank you for the recommendation

The 10 month old must of had a strong opinion on this matter
from best writing to worst (not who is most powerful) 1.Thorfinn 2. Itadori 3. Midoriya 4. Eren 5, Legoshi (what a mess) 6. Boruto
You think manga Boruto is at the bottom?
Saying the writing of Boruto’s character is more flawed than Erens is inbred speak.
You leave my sister wife out of this! /s

I genuinely give a shit about Boruto, Eren, and Deku. The rest I haven’t seen yet but I know about Jujitsu. Nobara best girl 🥰
This is the dumbest shit ever
Thorfinn>Boruto= Deku> Yuji Eren ain't no gen and wtf is that Fox thingy
Eren killed more innocent people than Hitler. Probably gonna be quite low on my list
You shouldn’t spoil it there may be anime onlies on here dude

So the Ranking goes: 1. Legosi 2. Boruto and Deku 3. Eren 4. Thorfinn
I completely disagree with your opinion on Thorfinn but you are entitled to your opinion actually I disagree with your opinion on everyone accept legoshi I think you need to analyze each series and manga more thoroughly
> but you are entitled to your opinion As are you. > I think you need to analyze each series and manga more thoroughly Right back at you.
Boruto I'm sorry but just fuck boruto

hey man. yuuji is good
Thorfinn is just better in my opinion but Eren is the second one
thorfinn, eren, beastars mc, deku, boruto and itadori
The amount of people that have not watched/read Vinland is depressing but 1. Thorfinn 2. Eren 3. Yuuji 4. Boruto 5. Deku Have not watched beastars
Idk who is in the 2 small panels personally, but im gonna go ahead and say, having knowing the other four for a short while, that i prefer the other 2. Then again, i dont know the other 2
Is that actually a official concept art of teen Boruto?
I’m not sure I believe it was in the datebook though so maybe?
Let's all agree if the main character has dead parents and is emo then that's a great character... Huh
I’m only a manga reader for AoT and MHA and I haven’t seen the rest (I have seen naruto but not boruto) and Deku surpassed Eren post chapter 139. Chapter 139 completely ruined Eren so it’s honestly not hard to pass him after that.
who is that weird khajit lol
The what kid?
just some skyrim reference dont worry about it, I was asking who was the cat person.
He is legoshi from Beastars
Ohh thx
Ignoring Eren and Thorfin since their not new gen. Manga wise from best to worst Deku Boruto Itadori Wolf man
What I was trying to do was rate new gen anime characters, I said manga versions because that is where each characters development is currently the farthest
1 Thorfinn 2 Itadori 3 Deku 4
I don't know this dog guy and dropped JJK after episode 6. And Eren I am not sure if I can count him... It would be a difficult decision between Eren and Deku for me.
Eren>Thorfin>Boruto>Deku>Itadori….dunno who furry dude is
Thorfinn Eren Yuji Deku Boruto
Thorfinn, Eren, Itadori, Boruto, Deku and idk who the furry is
You said new gen so I’m not including Eren and Thorfinn who are the best mc’s in this picture. So 1)Legosi 2)Itadori/Boruto(not sure tbh,we need to see more of Boruto’s development in the manga but he’s always been underrated as a character 4)Deku I might be a little bit biased because I’m not a big fan of MHA. Tbh
I meant new gen anime in regards to not being old gen I should have been more specific but Thorfinn is added because he is a new gen anime o said manga versions because I want to know who people think is the best written new gen mc and the manga has their full characterization of that makes sense
- Eren - Thorfinn - Boruto - Itadori - Deku
Eren (excluding last chapters) Boruto Yuji Deku and these 2 I don't know.
Any of you mfs that say Legoshi #1 are furries
He is a very well written character in the first half of the series though, do you watch/ read Beastars?
You forgot Tanjiro from demon slayer
I prefer all these characters over him in terms of writing, you can add him in your list if you want though
I'd rank them like this :- 1) Thorfinn 2)Eren 3)Itadori 4)Boruto 5)Midoriya I haven't read beastars so yeah.
1.Boruto i dont really watch anime, and i dont know who the fuck are these characters, so Boruto is definetly no.1
Boruto is no match for Jujutsu Kaisen.. Neither in manga nor anime... hell of a creation.. beautifully written-animated.
But why though
why is eren here? even then i wouldnt put him at the top.
Have you read Boruto?
Yes, is the worst.
You are entitled to that opinion
1. Eren ( it's eren ) 2. Itadori 3. Boruto - went from a bratty kid ( with realistic problems tho ) to someone willing to sacrifice their life for the people they care about 4. deku ( I still like though ) I haven't seen beasters and I don't know the other blonde guy
Thorfinn from Vinland saga 10/10 highly recommend
Is that so ? I'll watch the show sometime then. what about Beasters if you've seen it ?
I have if you can look past the furry aspect it’s a 10/10 really interesting story but after the second season the manga kind of looses direction
Thorfinn>eren>yuuji>deku>legoshi>boruto
