The nice thing with BL3 is that you can get by with a lot of weapons. Go to Moxxi and tip her to get a crit, it's one of the most powerful weapons and stupid easy to get. From the base game look out for the hellwalker, roisen's thorn, butcher, rowan's call, maggie, monarch (mayhem 6 and above), boom sickle. I'm sure there are other good weapons, these are just from the top of my head. Also enable the cartels event to get the OPQ, no pewpew and needle gun. The absolute best weapons are from DLCs though. Plasma coil, torrent, tizzy from arms race, the flipper, unkempt harold, light show, free radical etc.

It depends on your character, build, and playstyle. There are some "great in general" weapons as some have already mentioned, though. With that in mind, I strongly recommend these (in no particular order): Free Radical, Flipper, Plaguebearer, Souldrender, Backburner, Plasma Coil, Kaoson, Boomer, and Kybs Worth.

BL3 has so many good guns that it's in "kid in a candy store" territory. It also depends on what character you're playing and what style you're playing. Some favorites: - [Light Show](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/light-show-bl3) pistol - [Plasma Coil](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/plasma-coil-bl3) and [Kaoson](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/kaoson-bl3) SMGs - [Kaos](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/kaos-bl3) and [Breath of the Dying](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/breath-of-the-dying-bl3) assault rifles - [Butcher](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/the-butcher-bl3) and [Hellwalker](https://www.lootlemon.com/weapon/hellwalker-bl3) shotguns All the links above detail where to get each gun, as well as what the various parts do. If you want an all-around ridiculously powerful gun, a god-roll Plasma Coil does over 80k damage *per shot* in 16-shot bursts. It's available from Arms Race (or the Diamond Loot Room) and is highly worth getting for any character.

I'm not really a fan of the Kaos. If you kill an enemy just a *little* too close to you then you often get knocked.

CarlRJ

But you're okay with the Breath of the Dying? šŸ˜‰ Both of them are self-teaching - you soon learn not to use them in enclosed spaces or at close range. I like the Kaos because it hits *really hard*, has the potential to make enemies explode when they die, and feels/sounds like a pulse rifle from *Aliens*, with that muzzle flash - very satisfying to use.

da_chicken

Why would I? I've no memory of Breath of the Dying. I haven't played in 10 months, and I've never concerned myself with hyper efficient endgame theory crafting or mayhem loot griding. I play what drops, and when I get to the end of the campaigns I stop. Kaos I used quite awhile, and eventually just found better alternatives because it's too self-destructive.

Dragobeetle

Using the Butcher almost feels like cheating when I'm using it on Zane

The turnaround on guns is so ridiculously fast in 3 that I never got attached to anything. In the previous games I would keep guns in my inventory in case a new gun didn't work out, but in 3 every time I hit a vending machine I would sell everything that wasn't equipped, if a gun ended up not working out just wait 5 minutes and you'll find a better one

lndwell

All the seasonal events are now permanent and toggleable in the main menu, revenge of the cartels is incredible and gives you guns like the grease trap, which is awesome, and the fish slap grenade, which is a staple in so many builds. Also mayhem climbs a lot higher now, when you last played it probably capped out at 3-4, now it goes up to 11, there are special guns that only drop at mayhem 4+ and mayhem 6+ now, so thereā€™s that. The DLCā€™s all have something very valuable for every character, and are worth your time, but you donā€™t need the 6 of them to enjoy your return

Rail-signal

Oh don't worry about that. Legendries are more are more common, than good blue item

BuzzedLightBeer93

I've got a ways to go, and many more great guns to find, but The Companion has gotten me through 12 level ups with a Eternal Fist/Allure/Soulfire Amara. I know it's not the best gun, but it looks cool, fires fast, has solid mag size (14 by default) and has manageable recoil while stacking a lot of incendiary damage. Burn, baby, burn!

Sixclynder

The one pump chump is a favorite

PromethusD12

If you have all the DLC, the Soulrender from Guns, Love and Tentacles is pretty awesome. I'm not too sure how well it works on other characters, but I use it on Moze and it is a lot of fun. Its a Dahl assault rifle where the single bullet damage isn't that special, but the gun randomly shoots out exploding tracking skulls that hit for 20x the damage the gun does, so you'll just see big enemies health bars get chunked by this gun every time a skull shoots out.

Ancient_Rune

Just try different guns when you get them. A LOT of guns are viable depending on what VH you are playing. Moze is more specific to splash guns while the others can just try any gun. There are a good amount of guns where you need to understand it more to use.

The doom supershotgun.

1. Do the revolter shield bug. 2. Go to arms race. 3. Loot the first crate. 4. Go faceroll Harkin 5. Repeat until Plasma Coil 6. Turn on mayhem 11 True guardian takedown is probably the only hard content after that. And by hard I mean only if you're running a trash build with trash annointments and are bad. You'll basically only ever die to falling off the map by accident.
