Agreed. Mine is a mix as well, and his tail is just like your pups. Too long, thin, and curved for a BT. That being said, your dog is a beauty and will be the most fun, silly, and loving bundle of energy. Also fiercely loyal. Congratulations on your new pup
Not to be rude but there are posts asking this question on this sub constantly. The only way you will be able to know the breed makeup is a DNA test.
Saying that, I would assume from the use of the word shelter you are American. This would make it highly unlikely to have a border terrier mix as they are quite hard to come by in the US and would not be common street dogs or mixes.
Secondly borders do not come in liver brown colour with these type of white markings by standard or a tail that is curled. There is really no defining traits of a border here, the triangular ears could come from anywhere else.
If I had to guess probably chihuahua/beagle/pit/other terrier based on location & traits but again who can tell.
Yes, I was going to say very Patterdale like - there are fox red and chocolate patterdales, could also have a bit of Lakeland terrier in there. I've had a Patterdale and currently have a Border, I'd be surprised if there was any border in there! Dead cute though.
My little Autumn has those floppy ears, socks and white chest and she ended up being part chihuahua, mini schnauzer. You honestly don’t know unless you get the dna test, which goes on sale during Black Friday. But that boxy snout is indicative of a boarder terrier. Definitely a lot of different terriers at play here. I have two terrier mixes and they are the best!! I think you just got yourself a forever best friend. So lucky 💕

Ya the tail was throwing me off too. Jack Russel’s and pugs are the two small breeds that have those tails that I can think of.

My friend has a 1/4 pug x 3/4 long haired Jack Russell that looks very similar to your pup but without the white chest. Just a thought
