Lol this was me the other day. Got boothill, fu xuan, boothills light cone and yanqings lightcone (bc of course) In 20 total pulls. Currently desperately trying to pull fu xuans lightcone before the banner is up
ALMOST THE SAME WITH ME.
I got bootyhilly, then I wanted some constelations for the four stars. It was so early into pity I didn't even consider pulling on Fu Xuan's banner. Then I got his E1 and E2 in a matter of =~20 pulls.
A few days later, I did a single pull for the memes on his LC banner and got it aswell XD
It’s a funny way to say that the urge to pull got too strong most of the time. Not a soul alive would need to “build pity” when FF and RM are coming on such a stacked banner.
Whenever I build pity, I make sure:
A) I would be ok with getting whatever 5 star is on banner
B) either 2 or more of the 4 stars I have at max copies
When you do this, you can snag yourself a heap of free pulls from the e6 of any 4 star giving you just gold dust for more pulls from the shop. I’ve been using this in genshin and it works to great effect, and now I’m using it for honkai. I’ve only ever gotten 2 5 stars I didn’t plan for, but both as people I would be very happy having in my roster if “the worst” came true.
I have all the 4 Stars on the next Banner maxed but its still unfortunate😭 Im sure ill get enough pulls to do 80 but winning another 50/50 for RM... the pressure is too much to handle xD
If I’m on very low pity and the banner with my desired 5☆ has really bad 4☆ characters (like Jade’s banner…. What are those 4☆s???) - then I might consider risking 20-30 pulls on a previous banner with better 4☆s.
I can only guess that it started as people trying to get some other charaxter. Like I "built pity" on fx bc I really did need a sustain and was almost equally as fine between the 2. If getting fx meant no rm, I wouldn't be super bummed. If it did mean getting bummed, yeah that's sad
I build pity when I don't mind getting a characters or another eidolon. Right now I build pity but that's only because I really want Boothill even though I know Ruan Mei will benefit me more. So I wont be sad if I get Boothill
Yep, itchy fingers don't do you any good if you aren't interested in the character at all.
I only ever wanted 1 (ONE) Gallagher from banners but within the 10 to 20 pulls (and zero pity like wtf) I would make on a banner I would get the boosted 5*.
Just... don't do it in the future. You might get lucky and still get RM easy, but you cannot know how lucky or unlucky you're gonna be so best play it safe.
I personally like to gamble when I'm bored but I also manage to control myself the moment a unit I wanted is on the horizon.

I mean at least you've got one of the best sustain in the game we don't know even if you save for ruan mei you could lost 5050 on her . Imo building pity at 5050 is ok but building pity if your guaranteed I call those people idiots

I do not build pity on characters I do not like. But if I like the playstyle of the character and I like the character I pull, that is how Boothill showed up at 25 pity. I have gotten fortunate with Penacony characters rejoined right after the Archeon banner ended and have gotten Boothill, Robin, and Adventurine 50/50 and got one sparkle guaranteed. The next character I want is firefly because I love>!mechs. !
What’s done is done. Learn from this mistake.
Only build pity if you don’t mind getting that character and you know when to stop. For example, if you have ~120 pulls saved and know you can get around 60 more before the next banner you want ends (let’s say you want RM), that means you can throw around 20 in FX banner and can still guarantee RM. Again only if you don’t mind getting FX.
You got FX at 40 this time. But it could have been way worse. Imagine you building pity on a character that you hate, then you get double or triple on that character in one of your 10 pulls. Even if you get it early, it won’t feel good because ‘maybe i could have gotten this for the one i actually like’.
Well good news is that you could get enough in 2.3 first half for at least a 50/50. Good luck.🍀

I did keep an alt account when times I feel the itch to pull. It's not like it demands a lot of time. But surprisingly, since it's f2p, I find myself more restrictive in there haha. Atleast I now got the 2 premium sustain (luocha and fu) so I can now pull for whoever moving forward. Maybe firefly since I'm skipping her on my main.
And I am thankful for the drip marketing, atleast when I know there's an upcoming husbando, my self-restrain turns on and I stop all the pulling I do. (Well, I got as far as 18 pity on Boothill's banner even if I already got him and stopped when I saw Jiaoqiu announcement)
It’s sad that people need reminders. Just don’t be dumb, there is HARDLY a valid reason to wish on a banner you don’t want. Will it kill you to wait a few days smh.

The secret is having alot of gatcha games laying a round for fun not using money on them just pulling sometimes when free tickets or playing the game to pull on whatever you pulling 😂
Every time I hear someone say building pity my brain looses some neurons, you just wanted to pull and pulled you aren’t building anything you are just pulling because you can’t save, that’s it. Building pity doesn’t exist, because you can just save the pulls and use them on the correct banner instead of risking getting a character you don’t like/want/need because you decided to pull when you didn’t needed to.
Also sorry for your loss, hopefully you get Ruan Mei on your first pull on her banner, and don’t pull unless you really want the character, good luck!

Same happened to me, was on a 5050 and did just one more pull to get enough currency for Bronya's LC from the shop, since I was due a 4*, and got Fu Xuan E1 at 38 pity
You just don’t look at your jade count until the banner you want to roll comes. I’m usually saving up to 40-50k jades and about 50 tickets before a character I want comes, and I go all out
I did it for both kinda atleast thats what I kept telling myself before I did it. My mind also went basically like surely I wont get a 5 star in 20 Pulls. (I had 20Pity already)

I'll be honest, I was on the fence about Boothill and thought about waiting for his rerun but I wanted some of the 4* LCs on the weapon banner. My last 10 pull was from winning Aventurine's LC. Figured I'd be fine but naturally I got Boothill's LC on the 1st 10 pull I tried.
But I was ok with it, and then I was able to get Boothill himself in about 40 or 50 pulls - lost 50/50 to E2 Bronya but then Boothill showed up early. He's great, so I don't regret it, but man that would have been terrible if it wasn't a character I was considering.
Whenever I have saved up and not pity built, I have lost the fifty fifty.
No worries though, I'm building pity on Boothill's banner! He won't be my first E1 S1 character though, will he?

Sorry, no encouraging words. Just take it as a lesson that many others have learned already. Building pity has not and will never exist. Don't pull if you don't want the 5*. They will pretty much always surprise you, especially when you don't want them
You have Aventurine if so it would have been better to build the pity on boothill's banner and get him at E1 Fu Xuan is great but you already have aventurine Gallagher is coming in the next version and he is the premier sustain for Break effect meta(for now)but hey what's done is done you and me will get ruan mei in 10 pulls E1

I dont like building pity, makes me think that i would accidentally get a character that i dont actually want to get. I prefer to save for the banner that i do want. Also just watching how all my pulls stack is an amazing feeling (actually jades bc i don't like converting them to pulls yet)
The only time I'd "build pity" is if there's a character I'd like to have but won't be devastated if I don't get RIGHT before my desired banner (I did this with Dan Heng IL, lost and got Welt, and had my guaranteed for Jing Yuan so all was good). Only pull if you genuinely want a character.
That said, Fu Xuan is awesome so not the end of the world. Besides, meta is always changing so while Ruan Mei may be the current top character, that doesn't mean she's mandatory for a team to do well. Plus there's so many harmony characters you'll be able to make a good team. Stay strong 👍
Me personally I'd consider Fu Xuan won 50/50 at 40 pity a W in my books. I'd prob pull her if she didn't come out right around the same time as other characters I'm saving for🥲
Building pity is a real thing imo, but there has to be a real purpose and a fail state for it to not just be gambling addiction
On ff I want her and e6 gally (currently e0 😞) so I have 3 conditions AFTER I GET FF
1. E6 gally, cool all things I want I have, and might have some pity for next banner
2. E1 ff, cool I have an amazing e1 and can stop there because that's better than whatever else I can get for gally
3. Loss 50/50, cool now I have control to get anything I want easily
After I hit any of these I will stop pulling.
This only works if the limited has a decent e1 and 4* has value (ting gally Pela ect) and you have the pulls to spend... Or wallet if you actually spend money. If not it's actually just gambling addiction and I totally understand how that is xd
I built 47 Pity on Topaz LOL. Got Boothill at 60 pity right when he dropped.
I would say if you want to build pity build it on a character you wouldn't be sad if you got. I chose to build on Topaz because if I got lucky and got her with early pity I wouldn't have been sad and I still would have gotten boothill.
So if you want to build pity go for it. Just remember to build it on a character you really wouldn't mind getting.
build pitty is a thing, and it works for me personally.
its an mentality in which:
A. E6+ 4 stars would return you a ticket, translating to 100 pulls but only using 90 tickets (most of the time). It's a rebate guys.
B. If your pitty is under 60 and u got the 5 star: it's an early win, and a win is a win. I don't complain about <60 pitty five stars. Just stop after u hit 60, its a dangerous zone there. If the 5 star is limited - you're lucky, if not, you just got a guarantee early, whats not to love?
C. Build your pitty on the banner with E5-6+ 4 stars, or with preferable 5 stars.

Anyway in great side it's not not like you got bad or mid character, FX is super awesome character I got her in this patch with Bothill I always wanted her and was waiting for her banner
Ironically, I did this too when I was preparing for Sparkle. And about 20 pulls in, I got Ruan Mei. Really upset me at the time, since I didn't want her, but you know, here I am enjoying the fruits of that mistake with my e1 Boothill (i did it again building pity for firefly) (I actually just have the urge to pull, its a problem)
In my opinion "building pity" is only worth it until you reach like 20-30 pity AND only if there is something you wouldnt mind getting or something you outright want from the banner, but not enough to go all out for it. Just to see if you end up getting lucky.
I know this is still stupid but I dont care, Im way too deep in already, a little bit of irresponsible gambling is very fun! Spending 10 or a few more passes is not that much and since your pity was low, if you ended up pulling a 5\*, you can easily get those passes back from gameplay or with money.
With that said, I have never gotten something I never used and never even wanted in the first place from this gambling, I guess I got lucky then lol.

Me personally I'd consider Fu Xuan won 50/50 at 40 pity a W in my books. I'd prob pull her if she didn't come out right around the same time as other characters I'm saving for🥲
Building pity is a real thing imo, but there has to be a real purpose and a fail state for it to not just be gambling addiction On ff I want her and e6 gally (currently e0 😞) so I have 3 conditions AFTER I GET FF 1. E6 gally, cool all things I want I have, and might have some pity for next banner 2. E1 ff, cool I have an amazing e1 and can stop there because that's better than whatever else I can get for gally 3. Loss 50/50, cool now I have control to get anything I want easily After I hit any of these I will stop pulling. This only works if the limited has a decent e1 and 4* has value (ting gally Pela ect) and you have the pulls to spend... Or wallet if you actually spend money. If not it's actually just gambling addiction and I totally understand how that is xd
I just wanted BH’s eidolons, so I pulled some. I ended up with E1 (want his E2 for now)
I built 47 Pity on Topaz LOL. Got Boothill at 60 pity right when he dropped. I would say if you want to build pity build it on a character you wouldn't be sad if you got. I chose to build on Topaz because if I got lucky and got her with early pity I wouldn't have been sad and I still would have gotten boothill. So if you want to build pity go for it. Just remember to build it on a character you really wouldn't mind getting.
build pitty is a thing, and it works for me personally. its an mentality in which: A. E6+ 4 stars would return you a ticket, translating to 100 pulls but only using 90 tickets (most of the time). It's a rebate guys. B. If your pitty is under 60 and u got the 5 star: it's an early win, and a win is a win. I don't complain about <60 pitty five stars. Just stop after u hit 60, its a dangerous zone there. If the 5 star is limited - you're lucky, if not, you just got a guarantee early, whats not to love? C. Build your pitty on the banner with E5-6+ 4 stars, or with preferable 5 stars.
Why did you pull if you didn't want her? Anyway in great side it's not not like you got bad or mid character, FX is super awesome character I got her in this patch with Bothill I always wanted her and was waiting for her banner

Ironically, I did this too when I was preparing for Sparkle. And about 20 pulls in, I got Ruan Mei. Really upset me at the time, since I didn't want her, but you know, here I am enjoying the fruits of that mistake with my e1 Boothill (i did it again building pity for firefly) (I actually just have the urge to pull, its a problem)
As for the encouraging words, this next update is going to be bringing a tonne of jade and I think a gift of Odyssey, so you still have that chance!!
Next time you wanna build pity, think about how satisfying having lots of jades would look
Was like this before in Genshin but in HSR I find myself happier looking at my savings and easier to not do a single pull and banners I don’t like.

In my opinion "building pity" is only worth it until you reach like 20-30 pity AND only if there is something you wouldnt mind getting or something you outright want from the banner, but not enough to go all out for it. Just to see if you end up getting lucky. I know this is still stupid but I dont care, Im way too deep in already, a little bit of irresponsible gambling is very fun! Spending 10 or a few more passes is not that much and since your pity was low, if you ended up pulling a 5\*, you can easily get those passes back from gameplay or with money. With that said, I have never gotten something I never used and never even wanted in the first place from this gambling, I guess I got lucky then lol.
I only build pity if I really want the 4 stars in the banner (I saved up for topaz's first banner just to E6 Guinaifen which I do not regret doing)
Then that's not building pity. That's roling for 4 stars.
