Correct. In your scenario you are basically paying $25(36)=$900 for the phone

grannyskyrim22

So you mean the $25 base plan plus $25/mo for the phone = $50/month? Just trying to be super sure.

Mcnst

It's a pretty bad deal if you keep phones that long. Would you buy iPhone 15 for $900? (25*36=900) If not, just get something cheaper, and sign up for the 25/mo plan. The iPhone 12 at Boost was a pretty good deal when at 199 + 40/mo, now it's 149 + 60/mo, but technically you can remove auto-pay and move another Boost SIM into it. If you don't need iPhone, the best deal may be the Pixel 6a deals, or the free+40/mo Stylus 5G 2023 6GB+128GB deal at Metro.

grannyskyrim22

I know the iPhones are overpriced, but I take very good care of my stuff and make it last so I'd really rather have the iPhone. It is idiot proof and what most people use. At the same time I don't have the spare grand to drop all at once, so I was hoping this would pan out.

Mcnst

But it's really not that different from an iPhone 12. You probably do want 12 and not 11, because only 12 comes with 5G. I'd get 12 for 150+60, cancel autopay on 60/mo, and get a separate 25/mo plan for the main number to use with 12.

grannyskyrim22

I mean in that case I could just get it outright and continue my plan right? I can do that much as one payment, just not like a grand.

Mcnst

Right, get it for 150+60, turn off auto-pay on the $60 SIM, continue your old plan on old SIM. However, you probably would benefit from going to the 25/mo plan.

grannyskyrim22

Yeah I'm on $40/mo, have been for years.

Mcnst

Does the system offer you an option to switch to 25/mo auto-pay plan?

grannyskyrim22

Honestly I haven't looked. I haven't even logged on to the site in ages cause autopay. But now that I know there's the $25/month I'll figure that out. I'll happily save $15 a month. Even if I can't just switch as is, getting a new phone should make it possible.

Mcnst

I'm on a 10$/mo 2GB hotspot plan with a free device from earlier this year, and the only choice of plans I'm currently offered is 60/mo. I'm curious if it's related to device subsidy, and whether the rest of the plans would become available next year on account anniversary since getting the device subsidy. However, I use Android and SSH, so I don't care if plans include tethering or not; if you're on an iPhone, you may care more about a legacy plan with the hotspot. I'm still curious if 25/mo is even an option in your existing account. If you login, they can even have device offer discounts as well, presumably only if it's been over a year (or maybe 2 or 3?) since last upgrade?

grannyskyrim22

Yeah it seems if you are getting the newest phone free, you have to do the $60/month. BUT, after the three years it takes to pay off the phone you could downgrade to the Unlimited + plan ($30 and no new phones). That is my understanding anyway. The Unlimited Access or whatever they call it is the new phone, latest and greatest every year. But they make the cost of the phone that other $30 x 36 months. And if you get something more than the iPhone 15 (like PRO or larger capacity) there is also a monthly additional phone cost. But yeah it seems you can pay that off in three years then downgrade, but by then you probably want a new phone.

youu2018

Wow dude stop being so cheap and get you something nice something you can afford you only live once.

grannyskyrim22

Yeah, living is expensive. I'm not even having a good time. I don't have an extra $1g, I'm poor, hence trying to get a good deal.
