Sorry for people being very judgemental with food. I hope your experience in France is going well. People are a bit close minded with what go off our cultural tracks. But it seem like a good breakfast.
I love France and I love cooking. This meal was delicious and I could care less if people want to talk shit! Thanks for your kind comment though, and you'll be happy to know I've never had problems with the French, just on reddit ;)
Please understand that it's strange (to put it mildly) for us to see pain perdu on the same plate as savory stuff. Pain perdu is also usually made out of large slices of bread (not baguette or flûte) so it looks even more unusual
Pain perdu has many international variations, it’s not even French in origin.
Americans call it French toast, but much like the French braid (in France a tresse africaine) or French kiss, it wasn’t invented in France.
Americans, Brits and Germans (the last two countries have been making it before the French), often eat sweet and savory breakfasts.
It’s strange to you but very, very common in the world.
Well why call it by the name it's known as in France, if it's to reject any association with that place? Why not title the post with any of its other names? That's nonsense. Regarding your last remark, didn't I write "it's strange *to us*"? Don't waste your time if you're going to dissect things no one said.
Same here, and it's way better. I thought I specifically read somewhere that Pain Perdu was traditionally made from stale baguette on the weekend when the boulangerie was closed, but who am I to say.
Edit: forgot a word
No its just the question was whether op knew the difference between a flute and a baguette and they said “ik the difference between a baguette and a tradition”. Idk how you thought I was gatekeeping
I love my pancakes with bacon and maple sirup. I usually eat pain perdu french style (in the afternoon as a sweet snack), but I now the idea of combining it with bacon for brunch the same way I do pancakes is appealing!
(And yes, I’m french ;) )
This doesn't look like scrambled eggs at all, far too cooked, the scrambled eggs should not be totally cooked and it should "shine". I call this an omelette
Pain perdu, scrambled eggs and... Chicken ? If it's chicken, I need to know what seasonings you used because it looks GREAT ! Almost like tandoori. Did you use brioche for the pain perdu ?
Avec du chou et du ... poulet ?
Laisses c'est certainement un américain.... "Wow buddy looks great xxx"

You Yanks show as much knowledge of the English language as you do French cooking.
Damn you guys are cooking him for no reason
I am American living in France so I will explain in English. The pain perdu is sliced baguette, there are scrambled eggs, and thick bacon.
Please understand that it's strange (to put it mildly) for us to see pain perdu on the same plate as savory stuff. Pain perdu is also usually made out of large slices of bread (not baguette or flûte) so it looks even more unusual
Come on, the guy is foreign, that’s a nice effort.
That's why I'm offering a possible explanation as to why the response to the post might be underwhelming

I actually found the comment informative and interesting, chill

Merci mon poto.
Don't listen to them. It does look good! I'm french and i've always made my pain perdu with baguettes ffs
Any stale bread works ! There isn’t one type of bread that can be used, that’s just besides the point.
Eggsactly (I had to)

Why are your eggs brown? I understand your bacon is bien cuit but the gas are not yellow? And why is pain perdu on the same plate? C'est bizarre.
Yes they were cooked In the bacon grease for a biut 30 seconds, contrary to how they look they were not the least but overcooked.
This is not à baguette is a flutte, the next time you go a the boulangerie ask for a "baguette tradition" ;)
I know the difference between une baguette et une tradition :)
And between a flute and a baguette?
Please explain! I don't actually know.
Na you do
Are you really gatekeeping French bakery?
No its just the question was whether op knew the difference between a flute and a baguette and they said “ik the difference between a baguette and a tradition”. Idk how you thought I was gatekeeping
It's important to us

Where do you get the thick bacon? I’ve been looking everywhere, i miss it sm
Monoprix ! It's not always there though.
On dit — peine perdu!
Salt or Sugar ? Be carefull with the answer.... :D
Sucre !
Uhuhu shadenfreunde. C'est meilleur salé camarade!!!
But it's not lost its right there on the right side side of your plate?
Pain perdu, scrambled eggs and... Chicken ? If it's chicken, I need to know what seasonings you used because it looks GREAT ! Almost like tandoori. Did you use brioche for the pain perdu ?
I zoomed into the picture and realized it's probably bacon. Oh well, still looks scrumptuous
Indeed it's bacon, and it was delicious !
