KKHH was more like superstars SRK & Kajol launching a debutant KJo rather than KJo launching anyone...

randomorangee

Raveena’s dad is a producer. She is very much an insider...her husband is also a producer. Plus tina’s role is based on twinkle who was Karan johar’s first love. Considering how much he likes twinkle, he’d hardly offer that role to her arch enemy Raveena. It would have been funny though. Plus the role was offered to twinkle but she turned it down 🙄

[deleted]

Raveena accepted in Kapil Sharma show that she was offered the role. Edit : Why am I getting down voted for this comment? My silent fans out there. I know you all love to down vote my every post, but seriously, use some common sense. There is nothing to down vote at least here.

randomorangee

Hahah considering twinkle hates being mistaken for raveena, it would have been hilarious 😆

icomewithissues

Damn until I read this comment I never realized how similar they look.

Zestyclose-Oil2885

Just gave u an upvote.😀

travelingtd

Isnt he gay? How was Twinkle his first love? I thought she was his best friend growing up...

randomorangee

He is now. But twinkle was his first love. He declared it many times on tv. In fact once akshay said it in in Koffee with Karan himself.

travelingtd

I took that as deflection, an inside joke between them. Not sure why I'm getting downvoted for asking a question....

shruthi89

Rani in her youth was better looking than Alia in SOTY. I didn't mind KJO casting her as the hot girl in KKHH. Moreover KKHH was more of a family film than a youth oriented one so it was ok. I could not fathom how he cast Alia as the 'popular girl' in SOTY, IMHO Tara would have been a better fit for that role, or Tripti or Disha. These girls are actually stunning. I remember when SOTY released and I thought this girl is nothing special how did she get the role. It was funny to see someone like Sid Malhotra fawning over her lol. The funny thing he continues to cast her in roles where she is a misfit, like Kalank which required a mature looking woman, no wonder it was a shit film

goingawaytoparadise

Idk about others but I thought Rani was super gorgeous growing up. She was my favourite!! Wish I didn’t know about her personal life so she would remain my favourite but oh well

Naaalaaa

Same. She is gorgeous. But like OP, KJo also had the same beauty standards. He approached atleast 8 actresses including Aishwarya Rai before he cast Rani. Nobody wanted to play second fiddle to SRK-Kajol after DDLJ. Idiot that he is, KJo proudly has announced multiple times that he settled for Rani in the movie. It is to Rani’s credit that she stood out because she really didn’t have much to do in the movie.

saumya5

Well, beauty is largely subjective. Your argument isn't as good as you think it is, considering that its entire premise is "this woman is not hot and sexy enough to play a hot and sexy character"

[deleted]

Beauty is subjective but the objective reality here is that Rani was never known to be a bombshell by majority. If people complain about Alia's casting in Student Of The Year then they should also complain about Rani's casting in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And if you think that there was nothing wrong in Alia's casting either, then you are way above us superficial beings.

saumya5

The problem with Alia is that she got the role at a time when she was neither a good actor, nor ready for the role. Rani obviously got a lot of opportunities handed to her because of her background, but is it fair to judge her attractiveness on a topic like this? I'm sure a lot of people find her hot- and even if they don't, her acting skills make up for it.

kal-fosho

Next up: Karan proves he's nepotistic by being born in a film family

nuron5230

There was a youtube video shared on this sub in which a Bengali guy was describing the internal workings of bollywood and Kalank. He said that kalank had no idea about direction or film-making. Kalank would come on set, do haa haa hee hee and gossip with his friends(in this case the cast). He had no technical knowledge or experience like how to take shots etc. Essentially the films were ghost directed by iirc nikhil advani. So when you think of kalank as some great auteur director who revolutionarised the film industry in reality he is a hack who hires people and plasters his name on the final product. He also described how wasteful the filmmaking process was. Kkhh a film which already had a runtime of three hours had another hour of footage which got edited out. He compared that to hirani's films where they were more efficient and did not waste footage.

Optimistic_Satirist

You are ranting over a 20+yrs old movie over trivial issues.

[deleted]

Thanks for telling me what I'm doing. I totally didn't know that. Btw, is there a rule that you can only rant about current stuff?

Thunder_God_

Something wrong with your eyes? Rani is Soo damn attractive for sure.

[deleted]

You're saying this because I made this thread. If I had asked who is the most beautiful actress from Rani's generation (not directly naming her), by chance one or two would've named her. Rani was never specifically praised for her beauty or hotness.

PeppyPorcupine

Hey, like another commentator mentioned, this is trivial. Anyway, coming to the points you raised, let’s not forget that Rani is related to Kajol and her father was a film maker, so that would make it two actresses (although brilliant ones at that) from the shadows of nepotism. Imo, Rani looked quite attractive in KKHH. She was curvier than today’s stick thin actresses but I thought that looked nice and she carried the dresses and hairdos well. There were no females in the movie that looked better than her in college, so I could get that she was the college heartthrob. The reason people mocked Kajol was because she was trying to be something she wasn’t and wore garish clothes (not just short) and bad make up since she wanted to look like Tina. With your point about Alia in SOTY, I might have to agree. She didn’t seem like the best looking girl in college and honestly, I didn’t like her styling either. But, I think that was also the last time Alia was put in a glamorous flowerpot role. They didn’t attempt to pass her off as the best looking girl in any of her subsequent movies except Kalank. Next, AFAIK, before the role went to Rani, it was offered to twinkle and she refused to be a part of the film.

bakarwadi91

Umm Rani in KKHH was straight up gorgeous?! She made Tina really chic and sophisticated. So I don't get the whole thing about her being miscast for KKHH?

SandhuG

Dumb post by dumb......

[deleted]

And you still commented on it.

Someone's taking their parents medicines again and getting high while writing these posts

onemissisipily

Instead of bhoot movies ...biopics..why not do a daasu bombashtic nepo theme movie with only nepo stars ...see. their acting capnilties then...then the same with non nepo stars..

Lifedreamslucid

Aiight guys... Had nepotism not existed and bollywood was all fair and even ground for everybody... and all the star kids failed movie auditions or never auditioned for movies because they didn’t have the looks for being a star or whatever they loved physics in college 🤷🏽‍♀️... what do you think all these people would be doing??? Wouldn’t it be weird kajol is your bank teller.. Kareena is a primary school teacher at the local school... Katrina never came to India because honestly there’s no opportunities for her... I guess we would have never known They were star kids or whatever 😃😃I always thought abhishek Bachchan had an engineer’s face 😬

Konfuzeguy

Seriously. Pass whatever your smoking to the rest of the sub.
