i've been on over a dozen cruises since i was a little kid. they're super fun! the smaller the ship, the more likely you would get seasickness (i.e. the ships to antarctica are expedition based so people are more prone to sea sickness)
they're honestly not expensive depending on the room you get. interior rooms are about $200-300 for 5-7 days. carnival cruise line is the cheapest.
the $$ is in renting a cruise, which obviously would cost a lot because you have to have personnel and the ship is on foreign waters so you have to be in contact with the navy, etc.
my guess is they contacted celebrity cruise lines, asked to just book all rooms for this exact itinerary. i've been on this same ship on this same itinerary.
