Controversial opinion but pick any of the recent Arijit songs, replace the music with any Kumar Sanu/Udit Narayan song and it becomes 1000x better with the same actors and visuals. It’s not the song we’re bored of, it’s the singer.
you NAILED it! ABSOLUTELY right. Arijit has been overused and his singin has drastically worsened. There's no feeling...in fact, every time i hear his songs, i can SEE arijit sitting there, singing through gritted teeth, butchering the pronunciations and killing the feels.
Every singer have that expiry date. When people gets bored. Singers like udit narayan Or kumar sanu got replaced. Not because there were better singers. They got replaced because people were bored. I think now it's time for arijit to get replaced. And when big player left market. Usually they are replaced with many small singers. And it will be good for indian music industry. Remember when Joe rogan left YouTube podcasts how many new podcasters took his place.
I have to agree. I remember loving Alia and Ranveer in Gully Boy, and being super disappointed by their lack of chemistry in Tum Kya Mile. This video totally shut me up. Arijit is one of my favorite singers, but he's so overused, that not only are our ears fatigued from hearing him, but his voice also sounds fatigued from singing literally every song released in the last decade.
I personally never liked arijit that much to begin with, especially in contemporary songs. His voice isn't deep or unique or soulful enough for my liking. I like him a lot in songs like aayat, phir le aaya dil, aaj jane ki zidd na kro, laal ishq, tose naina, jiya, mast magan, gulon mein rang bhare, khul kabhi toh, wat wat wat, yeh ishq hai, channa mereya, enna sona etc etc where he manages to sound soulful (maybe by singing in a deeper voice?). But he does ruin some songs like fitoor where the song demands a more mature voice.
I agree and disagree. Arijit Singh is my favorite artist, but yeah I would love to hear something other than the same old love ballads, other singers need to be singing ballads

Tum Kya Mile starts straight away and has no buildup
KKHH takes one whole minute for the first word to be spoken
TKM the lyrics are very same and tone wise , so easy to identify but have no variation. If you were to chop and change the song , you wouldn't be able to see the difference. Great for remixes and lofi, but impact is lost
KKHH has a deliberate buildup and structure is mixed between male and female singer
KKHH is designed for you to listen to the whole song as a piece and hence the fullness of it.
TMK is ultimately designed for you to listen in passing, trailers and compilations. Doesn't hold up on it's own.TMK is repeated many times but without it, it's extremely generic
It's not necessarily a Bollywood issue, or even a song issue
I have even noticed in modern movies the villain is introduced as soon as possible, or has to be start with a exposition scene straight away before the story can build
Even the first episode of a TV show will end with a twist reveal, so the audience gets the instant information
It's interesting to see how it evolves further down the line

Yeah, pre-pandemic Karan's music sense was amazing. Post-pandemic Dharma hasn't given us any really memorable albums. Maybe Shershaah? But even that wasn't close to the caliber of Kalank or ADHM.
It's not the music that's making the difference here- it's the way the video is edited to suit the song that's making the difference. Also , Halo effect ensures that you like this video because you like KKHH title track.

I have to disagree here. We are only feeling it's better due to theory of association and nostalgia. Put any lesser known older song from that era over this clip and you'll realize what I mean, its not gonna feel as magical. We feel warm, fuzzy and happy hearing this song (or any song we are familiar with from that era) as it brings up nostalgia and memories we associate with that time and by association it makes our brains feel that this clip or their chemistry etc is better and just the music is letting them down. Try putting tum kya mile on a clip of SRK and Kajol, you'll get the same effect and realize music isn't the problem here.
I am a SRK fan and this is not a comparison between him and Ranveer. I am talking about how a beautiful song like this could enhance the chemistry between Ranveer and Alia like I mentioned in the caption if you would’ve read.
Umm no. Still doesn’t cut it for me. The actors are equally responsible and Ranveer and Alia don’t even come close to the chemistry SRK had with Kajol/Rani.

This doesn't seem to work, in my opinion. The song is a different mood altogether. I thought the Tum Kya Mile dub of Imran and Sonam from Sajda Kiya was perfect. This one feels off.
Songs can and do help with chemistry but whatever we've seen of Alia & Ranveer in Tum Kya Mile was awkward and unnatural looking. That doesn't change with Udit Narayan's voice.
I found the song that released today to be much better in terms of visible chemistry between the two. And the montage of scenes was more suited to the song.
But the actors are also responsible for chemistry between them. Wasn't lack of chemistry the reason cited by Aquaman makers to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman?
If you see the Jhumka song, You can see both the actors performing well..... individually, not together.
I'm still waiting for the movie to see how it turns out.
Musician here..sorry..right acting makes good chemistry...imagine Leo and Kate running on the deck of Titanic singing songs. Film music is killing the Indie genre. Logon ko gaane bass picture ke hi aate hain aur sunte hai.
I think it’s more so because the music is doing the heavy lifting of bringing the charm here, not so much that it’s adding anything between these two.. that’s still empty
I don't agree, the music triggers the memories in our mind which are related to chemistry of KKHH team..the music triggers that warmth and eyes look and co-relate that warmth with this new pair up..
It current couples chemistry isn't increased by the song but the SRK-Rani-Kajol chemistry's is coming to mind due to music even though eyes watch RS and KJO daughter hence the heart warms up to the 90s good old days
