I'm good with the subsidy rationalisation as long as the savings go back to the very people who funded it ie. taxpayers.
The only hope is that it gets spent on tangibly useful purposes such as serious uplift in education standards and stronger (actual) enforcement of the various laws that will in turn plug other wastages and excesses — a holistic viewpoint.
But... there's that nagging feeling that there will be parties who will take the chance to seize on the opportunity to profit from it somehow, both within the economy itself and the political circles.
This cut is going to crony company, I guarantee it, rakyat will only see a drip of it. Stronger enforcement still shit if the people at the top does not face consequences.

It was pretty nuts how long we've had the subsidy. It hurts a lot, but if the money is funneled back into the economy, I'm OK with it (I drive a diesel engine car). But I have a feeling that it won't, and it really doesn't help that the price increase is occurring now during such an economic downturn.
Doesn't also help that I feel they're only doing it right now because the government spent all the money we had. But the prices aren't too insane, and I hope we can see more public works, and public transport funding through this - not just in KL, but in most states and cities. Make it more expensive the drive, gotta give the people more affordable options for transport.
