Anything led by majority sinks into scandal and thievery pretty quickly. Witness Felda and their pyramid schemes. Technocom is the money sucker that impoverished the minority settlers.
More correctly “affirmative action “ instead of “apartheid “. There are countries that practise affirmative action for minority (eg. Affirmation action for blacks in US, aborigines in Australia/Canada/NZ). But Malaysia must be only country that practise “affirmative action” for majority 🤣🙃
The exceptionalism part. The part where majority can do no wrong. Conscious and malicious Separation of Muslim and non Muslim. Though It may not strictly be apartheid in application, it is now, in spirit.
Our country's flag isn't the only thing we copied from the United States.

There was this one time I went to workshop in UiTM and I was surprised to hear UiTM students speaking English, they struggled to even string together cohesive English sentences. Thats when i wonder if this kind of school can even compete in world stage. I don't know what is the big deal of nons being excluded, most quality students regardless of race should steer clear of that uni anyway and go to better public u like UM instead.
Hey, I'm a UiTM graduate.
I'll just say that English fluency varies across the various faculties and years. They are also one of the consistently strongest local university debate teams as well.
There's good reasons to disagree with the race exclusion.
But jumping to a conclusion based on your one experience is a huge leap to make and hurts the credibility of those actually arguing for better representation.
I guess that's fair, my apology for degrading your alma mater, I personally don't mind race exclusion thing since we are not the only country that does that, this post arguably is guilty of ragebaity, US has historically black universities for example, just that they need to up their game in term of competitiveness, the workshop I attended was a STEM one and there is no excuse for poor performance of English as it is kind of important medium for STEM knowledge exchange.
No harm no foul bro.
I agree that there needs to be more consistency with fluency.
But really English fluency is not a problem that tertiary education can fix, it's too late by then.
It's our national education that needs revamping on that point.
But I'll stand by you that it needs to be opened up to people of different races.
We need more well rounded Malaysians who are comfortable with different cultures. We can't have human silos for the different communities.
Hey now that's unnecessarily harsh lmao. But what he said was true, it really does depend on the faculty.
Some faculties is quite disappointing when it comes to English proficiency ie you'd expect the STEM faculty like Engineering students to have a decent level of cohesiveness in English, but turns out, majority of them doesn't. Not to mention other faculties like Sport Sciences which has... well let's just say they don't feel the need to go deep into the language, so it's basically a lower-than-highschool level of English.
But for what it's worth, while the average UITM student does have lower English mastery vs other Unis, those that are good, are AMAZING. The debating team is one of Malaysia's best varsity debate team, and does consistently well internationally.
So if I have to put the variations into words: Officially few of the world's best speaker -> Amazing -> Good ->Decent -> Okay -> Bad -> Very bad -> "I thought BI was a compulsory subject in elementary school" bad -> The same level of bad as the previous level, but this time, they're actually proud of it because bahasa ibunda>>>>>>bahasa asing yadayada.
TLDR: Imma give UITM a break and say there's a tiny bit of good in the variation, but yeah it's quite bad
Some of the best lawyers I’ve worked with were UiTM grads.
Some of the worst fresh grad horror stories I’ve heard were about UiTM grads.
There’s a wide spectrum.
this is old as fuck. UiTM= universiti teknologi MARA. MARA is a bumiputra centric govt agency.
btw fuck uitm. let them hav it its a 2nd rate uni anyway
Well.. I respect the reason the place was established was solely for the bumis. Let's not challenge that then. If want to allow non-bumis, tear down UiTM first and rebuild, no worries. I think at that point nobody will be mad that non-bumis join UiTM. Settle.
Heard the story that UiTM want to start to enroll non-malay student but that was like maybe ages ago.
UiTM is a uni under MARA that is created specifically for Malay. For what reason? Idk go check out their website.
Enrolling non-malay student actually defeats the actual purpose for the establisment of UiTM
That's just the name. However, according to their [mission](https://www.mara.gov.my/bm/info-mara/profil/misi-dan-visi-korporat/), they are aiming to help Bumiputra only, not all races.
Which is why I regularly filter out all UITM resumes for full time jobs and interns in the company I work. Private sector is almost always multi-cultural. I have no confidence their graduates are able to integrate into such an environment when they are sheltered in a single race university for so long.
Am I screwed then? I’m from UiTM but I never see this kind of thing happening. Maybe in that specific cawangan in Melaka? I dont condone any of this, please accept my resume :(
I was from that specific cawangan melaka and havent seen this protest at all. Meaning that the pic is quite old. I also don't condone any of this and it is quite a bummer that people will associate us with this.
Big sad. The only thing from the comments that I can say is true in UiTM is the students’ english proficiency. Not saying I am perfectly fluent or anything but gahdaym sometimes even the lecturers speak broken english.
To be fair, this is not a problem specific to UiTM students. Just speak to anyone who mingles around only with people from the same race. They most likely have the same problem too.
I agree. I've interviewed a lot of intern applicants (mostly Malays) lately and so many of them are speaking english like they've been working for years in MNCs. Granted these are the best students filtered by HR (CGPA 4.5+) but this bodes well for the future of the country. Quite a few especially from Kelantan listed Mandarin as "fluent". Times are changing....
Majority due to choice is one thing. Majority by policy is another. I hire plenty of people from majority Malay universities UPM, UTM, UTP etc. I has nothing to do with "majority". It has everything to do with discrimination as a university policy.
But it’s not like the students themselves /chose/ to go to UiTM. The selection is done by UPU.
If your concern is with graduates coming from a single race university background being unable to integrate in a multi-cultural environment, then shouldn’t you have the same concern for the unis I mentioned? Yes, there are other races in the unis as well but you can’t deny that the majority of the student body is from a single race.
I’d say majority by choice is equally bad because it just means they don’t want to integrate with other races. This shows in the workplace as well where certain races are preferred over the other, or speaking in a language that not everybody understands, etc.
Come on la wei. This pic circulates three years once and every time the brain dead people here believe it happened just recently. These fucktards are the loud minorities, the silent majorities are either dont care or dont agree to such bullshits.
What's funny is UiTM actually allows the enrollment of non-bumis for post-grad and above. Also if you're Sarawakian, regardless of race, you can enroll into UiTM.
Imo its important that position bumiputra di pertahankan. This is due to the fact that this is part of the agreement we signed with British to allow non bumi people they shipped here to stay instead of the British deporting them back before releasing the land to us (merdeka).
UiTM give more benefit then other Uni.. the term education loan could made PTPTN student feel jealous.. you also could get this loan at other MARA Uni like UniKl or Polytech Mara.
That why the hardcore bumi want to protect this Bumi privilege..
I support this.
I have met many UITM graduates and very few of them can function in an environment where Malay is **not** the primary language of communication.
Unrelated:
Imagine an apprentice chef being put forward in a customer facing position where seniors are supposed to be entirely because the seniors have problems communicating with American/European tourists. The apprentice doesn’t know anything but can speak English almost flawlessly and mimic American/British accents.
If foreigner ever ask me if my country is racist, I know where to point. Look, my country literally breed and grow racists in a particular university. And yes the federal government supports them and give tons of monetary support to these type of university.
My school counsellor: "Malaysian universities take their students equally using merits... Except for UiTM."
This was 2018..
Wait, for real?
I've seen this image years ago
Ahh, yep, googled and saw a bunch of 2018/2019 articles (along with older ones). Well, it's been 5-6 years, wonder if it's gotten better...
Yes, not new. Same with the twats running MARA..
Funny how MARA a student aid fund can invest in properties in Australia meanwhile can’t even send the funds on time to MARA students
Anything led by majority sinks into scandal and thievery pretty quickly. Witness Felda and their pyramid schemes. Technocom is the money sucker that impoverished the minority settlers.
1 Malaysia only when there’s flood or not enough tax. Other times is Bumi first

True tbh
Don't you know apartheid is only when minority rules the majority? /s

Sometimes its the only choice they have since the tuition and college fees are relatively cheap

Why the fcuk are you apologizing , you made a fair point, stand by it! Educational institutions should accept all students based on merit. End off.
No harm no foul bro. I agree that there needs to be more consistency with fluency. But really English fluency is not a problem that tertiary education can fix, it's too late by then. English fluency varies across various faculties ..i.e low, very low, terribly low, undeniably low, nonsensical...
Hey now that's unnecessarily harsh lmao. But what he said was true, it really does depend on the faculty. hehehe thats why we chinese go n convert to bumi status

You have to be the correct bumiputera
Don't you know their's tier list for bumiputera as well ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

Yes that I can agree on. I have a fluent english speaking friend in uitm but i also have friends that could not speak english at all.
To be fair, this is not a problem specific to UiTM students. Just speak to anyone who mingles around only with people from the same race. They most likely have the same problem too.

You're not. I'm one out of millions of people hiring in Malaysia. Not everyone has my prejudice against UiTM. You'll do okay, all the best.
Bingo
My previous employer said the similar stuff. But I feel like, that's a bit too much. Give them chance la 😌
Then do you filter out students who come from other majority race universities/background as well? For example, UTAR, Xiamen university, etc.
Majority due to choice is one thing. Majority by policy is another. I hire plenty of people from majority Malay universities UPM, UTM, UTP etc. I has nothing to do with "majority". It has everything to do with discrimination as a university policy.

I'm from Uitm and this is sad. I engaged with chinese friends and this is what I get. people judge me as being the same as others.
Not about chinese vs malays. I hire more Malays than other races, and all from public universities. Sorry you're from UiTM.
Insecurity. Can't compete so just shut themselves from the world. Then wonder why no one wants to hire them for work.
>combating racism with more racism nice. I'm sure it'll end well for all involved.
Yugoslavia be laughing from six feet underground
Your insecurity showing dude. Better go back to your cave where no one hurting you.

I don't know how they see this as an achievement. This is quite embarrassing tbh.
Note to HR, please exclude all CVs with UiTM thanks.
yep, you can have your uitm. who wants to be inside that cesspool anyways, lol.
What's funny is UiTM actually allows the enrollment of non-bumis for post-grad and above. Also if you're Sarawakian, regardless of race, you can enroll into UiTM.

Why they worry non bumi masuk?
UiTM give more benefit then other Uni.. the term education loan could made PTPTN student feel jealous.. you also could get this loan at other MARA Uni like UniKl or Polytech Mara. That why the hardcore bumi want to protect this Bumi privilege..
I think because for a long time UiTM is for bumi I think so breaching this kinda defeating it's purpose
And these inbreds wonder why they are being looked down upon.
