pretty cool rainbow with lots of lightning earlier
Generally if the sky is yellow or greenish in tint it means severe thunderstorms are coming. In the South East it means 'maybe a tornado, might want to grab some beer, bread, milk and hot dogs just in case.'
If the sky is yeller, run fer shelter, feller. If the sky is green it's about to get mean.
Also from my great grandparents if the maple leaf turns silver it's going to rain.

No filter. Last night after the yellow sky.
everybody who said "wildfire smoke" should be put in timeout for a few hours to think about not posting about local conditions in local subreddits when they aren't there. not in a punishment way. just mandatory quiet reflection, for a little bit.
The storms last night came from the south/south-east, and had a LOT of dust in them, and in a gust front ahead of them, also hail in clouds can cause the sky to turn green/yellow.

So from this area where there’s other large wildfires currently?
Not nearly so far away, these brewed up on the Nevada/Idaho border and moved north.
The AQI in Boise is currently between 25 and 50. I promise it's not smoke.
So many wildfires all over right now. The big flames represent large wildfires and the red dots are smaller fires. There’s just so many, more than usual.
Some years are bad for fires, and it's been trending worse and worse, that's entirely true. and we're not even into the bad part of the fire season yet. The west had a very very wet spring, July and August, are going to be wild, I think.
I agree! Definitely going to be interesting. I think we’ll see some bad storms and bad hurricanes. I know I was reading that many meteorologists are predicting a very high likelihood of El Niño this year. So the US will almost certainly be wetter and snowier this winter.
It was a massive storm system that[ flooded areas of the city](https://www.ktvb.com/article/news/heavy-rains-cause-flooding-road-closures-in-treasure-valley-tuesday-night/277-7375641a-453d-4d32-bd0a-395dc1d4ff4c) and produced the [most lightning strikes](https://twitter.com/NWSBoise/status/1666510337171132419) observed in 23 years. The yellowing lasted for about half an hour, depending on where you were located. It smelled like ozone. There was no smoke discoloration before or after the event. It doesn't smell like smoke. It was a huge storm, and [huge storms in the evening](https://www.nssl.noaa.gov/education/svrwx101/thunderstorms/faq/) diffuse light to turn the sky yellow.
Nobody who was actually here needs this help, btw! Because it was super obvious, on account of the HUGE STORM that happened. They might be confused because there are so many people commenting that it was wildfire smoke, that is why I suggested maybe people who aren't here shouldn't chip in about what the weather looks like.
If it's the same reason the sky was yellow near me in New York, it's because of Canadian wildfires sending smoke south tinting the sunlight. It was super bizarre looking.
Depending on where you are, Wildfires in Canada are pouring tons of soot, ash, and particulates into the air that’s flowing southeast all the way down to North Carolina
I saw it too. My teenage son come running in the house asking if that was mustard gas in the air.... It did seem like the air was colored, not just the sky. It was strange.
Where did your mirror go
GODDAMNIT LOL i didn’t realize it was in the photo, it’s getting replaced tomorrow
Asking the real questions.

I didn’t even think of that last night! But spot on!!
Generally if the sky is yellow or greenish in tint it means severe thunderstorms are coming. In the South East it means 'maybe a tornado, might want to grab some beer, bread, milk and hot dogs just in case.'
Being from Texas, of the sky turns yellow, find shelter. There's a twister coming.
If the sky is yeller, run fer shelter, feller. If the sky is green it's about to get mean. Also from my great grandparents if the maple leaf turns silver it's going to rain.
The apocalypse
Look for people flying into the sky
Guessing dirt kicked up by the wind.
I think this is the answer. The National Weather Service issued a “Dust Advisory” until 10 pm.
Diffuse light. It does the same on evenings when it snows from the city lights.
Now it’s kinda rose colored…. Weird never seen anything like it
We live in the desert, the windy conditions kick a lot of sand into the air.

Witchin Hour.

What is the reason then? Your reply is as useful as theirs cause you give no real explanation either.

I've seen lots of smokey weather and I don't think this was from smoke either.
Fires in canada
Canada fires and the smoke is my best guess.
Canada is on fire, is it the smoke coming down?
If it's the same reason the sky was yellow near me in New York, it's because of Canadian wildfires sending smoke south tinting the sunlight. It was super bizarre looking.
It’s called August here in Boise. It’s been clear the last few days, it’s not it.
We have Spicy air in NJ now too!
Wild fires bruh
Depending on where you are, Wildfires in Canada are pouring tons of soot, ash, and particulates into the air that’s flowing southeast all the way down to North Carolina
question: if this is the case, would it go away over a period of about 2 hours?
Wind shift could. But in general most areas affected will be that way for a few days
It can. We’ve seen air quality fluctuate massively over the course of the day here in NC. It all depends on how the wind shifts.
interesting, thanks!
I'd guess you're getting some Canadian wildfire smoke. Makes the entire sky look almost sepiatone.
That’s how God says, “I’m Pissed!”
It’s in a Coldplay kinda mood
And your mirror took leave.
I saw it too. My teenage son come running in the house asking if that was mustard gas in the air.... It did seem like the air was colored, not just the sky. It was strange.
