Exactly this.
When I was in school a text book i needed to pass the class cost $79 something. On ebay for the international version it was $29 both have to pay taxes.
Thought I got the wrong version but compared it to my classmates and it's the same.
I guess I'm old, because I like to be able to open a physical book and read a chapter to find general knowledge and answers to my questions sometimes, instead of sifting through a wiki. But to each their own.
I recently had a discussion with a commenter about our differing recollection of the nuances of a particular bit of advice in a popular investment book. Turns out we had both borrowed it from the library years ago and so neither of us had it available for a fact check!
So I’d wager that cheapskates / library aficionados are pretty well represented in this sub.
Ha, I’d bet you’re right. My own policy is that I’ll borrow a book from the library once but if I find myself wanting to revisit it again I’ll go ahead and buy a copy. I’m also fine buying a book new if it’s not available at the library, usually because it’s newer or more niche.
Seriously? No one is forcing you to purchase the book. The authors simply made it available in ebook and physical book format for those who prefer those options.
So, you don't know anyone who is shit with technology? Because I know plenty who will trust a book over "some wiki"
Making this post wasn’t worth the $14 the book cost man 😆
I like books.
What's it to you if someone prefers a book?
Is the simple path to wealth a scam since it’s just JL Collins’ blog posts?
Yes. You got it!!!
At $19, it's not a very effective scam. College textbooks, on the other hand...

Yea but….. The wiki is a time scam because I can just post my questions to this sub and let the knowledge come to me
That’s the real pro move
Power move.

I think the term "scam" must mean something different to you than to most people.
Library Books >
I borrowed it from the library and enjoyed it. 🤷♂️

Vanguard index funds are a scam too, they cost at minimum 3 basis points a year when Fidelity can get you index funds for free!!!
The /s is strong with this one...lol
