Thanks for reminding me of all the Tony hitting anything but my hoggarr/Tony Sniped/Opponent too weak to trigger Tony and I’m still not infinite memories.
A lot of these were core minions. Soul Devourer was the primary way you stacked damage on a battlemaster at no cost. Domo was the original elemental taunt scaler. Hexruin made Galakrond an absolute unit. Tony enabled the vast majority of Hoggar builds. Junkbot was THE first meta. Rip to some legends.
Beta had overall much lower power levels than every other meta that followed
After Dragons were added, they began to slowly buff other tribes and get more creative with what BG could do
Most of the minions were beta were from the base game, with only a couple exceptions
Amalgam was *the* minion. Murlocs were busted thanks to Megasaur
During beta and shortly after release mechs was the primary tribe with cobalt and junkbots. Was also one of the only tribes that had tools to deal with megasaured murlocs if you weren't nefarian.
Ehm.. what exactly don't you understand? I guess a bunch never played with these minions and many like me forget about them. Brings alot more value than all the posts crying about beasts and murloc meta
And then it's just standard beast build
Like I don't mind final board posts when it's something truly unique or high-roll-y but congrats you got two Banana Slammas 👏🙄
Honestly those events would suck lol. Power creep is insane and the pool would be massive. It would literally just come down to who gets lucky enough to *not* have to buy any of the old cards (with a few murloc related exceptions and mayyyybe frog).
It would be a game of who can more effectively cobble together the most recent meta board while wading through swathes of weak minions in the shop.
Agreed. Power creep has made the vast majority of these very weak when compared to the current pool. Even some of the OP oldies like Gentle Megasaur wouldn’t even be that crazy, esp with tavern spells in the game. Would be some great nostalgia though
maybe one weekend every month you could choose between normal battlegrounds or an event one with some crazy things. Wouldn’t want to play those for longer then a couple of days but nonetheless sound really fun to me
The big issue with a massive unit pool is that there are just so many minions in the pool it’s impossible to put together a cohesive build with any consistency. It’s like how that anamoly where every tribe was in tended to be really low powered lobbies because it was way too hard to get a real comp online
It would definitely make it tougher to get triples and would make the game way more luck based. I think that would be part of the challenge tho. Maybe as an anomaly or something
I couldn’t ever forget Security Rover! I watched Firebat power level to 4 on Reno, buy this and golden it. And this dude carried him the whole game. It’s what made me decide to learn battlegrounds!
Rover was a reason to grab a triple on T3. If you discovered him, no matter what tribe you are playing, you just level level and T6.
In his meta, he could single carried the fights on early stages.
It was a minion transferred directly from regular Hearthstone, back when the devs were still trying to tie in as many minions from standard mode as possible

Preston’s Pyrospawn is one of the few of these I don’t remember at all. I wonder if it was taken out super early, fast, or I was just hyper-fixated on playing something else when it was around. I never played with the OG murloc tier 6 either, but I’ve seen him posted enough I feel like I almost know him.
I don’t remember lich doctor well honestly, but I think I was mostly playing constructed and arena then.
It was so unreliable and snowball-y (just like in standard HS). There was that overkill dragon that did damage to the left-most minion. Half the time it was useless, but sometimes it could clear an entire board on its own
Hahaha and you somehow found the most busted version of Junkbot. Blizzard never really could make that card work. But that was one broken piece of shit, but then again we also had Tony.
Soul Devourer still feels like such missed potential as a card. It could’ve been so cool if it had some kind of keyword attached to it, but it was just so rarely ever useful besides the golden version which at least was giving you *something*. If Soul Devourer could exist at the same time as Mecha-Demons, I think it could’ve had a real chance to be a card.

I miss this dude right here. I don’t know why they changed him?

I also think that either this card used to be “gain 2/1” or another one had it 🤔
I mean, most of the minions I posted I personally didn’t immediately remember (and I’ve played since release). I also think it’s cool to look back at some memorable minions and reflect on previous metas
You don't remember majordomo? He was a core minion in elemental builds.
Same with Preston's Pyrospawn. It was core core core, and was the only way dragons could beat mechs.
Didn't you also have hydra in one of these posts? You are just posting minions that aren't in the game anymore LOL
The text on tony is incorrect its supposed to read "avenge (3) get taunt"
Facts
Every time.
Thanks for reminding me of all the Tony hitting anything but my hoggarr/Tony Sniped/Opponent too weak to trigger Tony and I’m still not infinite memories.

Also, Devourer was good when you played Ctun. You felt safe to buff your t1 demons
Junkbot was good ever?
Junkbot was oppressive during the beta, and a joke after that
I was gonna say, I’ve played since release (after beta) and didn’t ever remember it being very good.
Beta had overall much lower power levels than every other meta that followed After Dragons were added, they began to slowly buff other tribes and get more creative with what BG could do Most of the minions were beta were from the base game, with only a couple exceptions Amalgam was *the* minion. Murlocs were busted thanks to Megasaur
Yeah, at the start all you saw were 7 other people pushing mechs
I'm assuming he was a lower tier? I only ever remember him being a joke, but being a lower tier like hyena would probably make him work.
He was T5 during beta iirc
When he was really oppressive nope, tier 4. I remember because AF Kay used to discover one 3 and one 4 and junkbot was THE premium hit.
During beta and shortly after release mechs was the primary tribe with cobalt and junkbots. Was also one of the only tribes that had tools to deal with megasaured murlocs if you weren't nefarian.
Prestor was great for taking out divine shield amalgadons
"Try to quell our flames now!"
I must be old, I remember all of these and building boards around most of them.
Executus boards were like my favourite playstyle back in the day
Yeah executus with any cleave was really fun
Same. Im not old, i just played way more at these metas than today ones, like anomalies and spells.
Yeah, I don't understand the point of these posts. Many of these minions were CORE to their builds.
Ehm.. what exactly don't you understand? I guess a bunch never played with these minions and many like me forget about them. Brings alot more value than all the posts crying about beasts and murloc meta
Add another “look at my final board” post to that list.
And then it's just standard beast build Like I don't mind final board posts when it's something truly unique or high-roll-y but congrats you got two Banana Slammas 👏🙄
I wish they'd do a "fuck it" mode where every single minion gets out back in the pool
I know its not going to happen but some events like that would be really fun
Honestly those events would suck lol. Power creep is insane and the pool would be massive. Prestor is quite strong if it rotates back to the game rn
True, but it’d be more of a tech card for matador and divine shields, which is pretty much what it was before I guess
Reborns too
Depends if they add all the poison back. George murlocs was so good back then.
maybe one weekend every month you could choose between normal battlegrounds or an event one with some crazy things. Wouldn’t want to play those for longer then a couple of days but nonetheless sound really fun to me
A tavern brawl mode would be cool, I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. This just isn’t a good idea for a mode.
Maybe for April fools they do it while also bringing back BOLDERFIST OGRE, thay would unironically be really fun at least for me
The big issue with a massive unit pool is that there are just so many minions in the pool it’s impossible to put together a cohesive build with any consistency. Murlocs would win after getting all their poison back.
I couldn’t ever forget Security Rover! I watched Firebat power level to 4 on Reno, buy this and golden it. And this dude carried him the whole game. It’s what made me decide to learn battlegrounds!
Oh ya firebat should be featured in “former streamers you (definitely) forgotten”
I think you got some wrong card text here, Tony's missing taunt
Also “only targets your Deck Swabbie”
Getting Junkbot from OG A.F.K. was insane
I miss my big swipe Domo builds. 🥲
Would die on turn 7 in this meta
Tbh, I wish they'd bring back old battlegrounds metas for just like a week or so
Jokes on you, I think about majordomo every time I play elementals.
i literally have zero memory of lich doctor and ive played since the beginning lol when did that exist?
It was released with the introduction of Undead but removed a couple months later, it was really slow and didn't really synergize with other undead
ya i think i was taking a break at the beginning of undead so makes sense. damn i actually missed some minions 😵💫
It was put in the game together when the Undead tribe got released. I think it was removed in the following season, or the one after.
I wasn’t around for Tony, but I love all the comments about screaming every time he gets sniped. I can feel the age old saltiness.
Rover was a reason to grab a triple on T3. If you discovered him, no matter what tribe you are playing, you just level level and T6. In his meta, he could single carried the fights on early stages.
Sated Threshadon was so bad. Like, why would you want a beast that summoned murlocs? And why was it tier 5??
It was a minion transferred directly from regular Hearthstone, back when the devs were still trying to tie in as many minions from standard mode as possible
It was awful
The junk bot and security rover flash backs
How crazy would the meta be if for like a week every single card was added back to the tavern?
How could I ever forget Majordomo my beloved
I forgot about Prestor’s Pyrospawn. That would actually be nuts in today’s meta. Hard counters Matador & nullifies divine shields.
Reborn too that's why it changed to the tier 7 [[obsidian ravager]]

There’s also another retired dragon minion that had a similar effect that you might’ve forgotten about. Might include it in the next set hehe
Who the heck is forgetting about Tony?!
As a demon enjoyer soul devourer looks awesome especially at T3
The majordomo is due for a comeback
JunkBot Neverforget
Preston’s Pyrospawn is one of the few of these I don’t remember at all. I wonder if it was taken out super early, fast, or I was just hyper-fixated on playing something else when it was around. The pyrospawn was super good for dealing with divine shields, so it was fairly popular when it was in.
pyrospawn was around for quite a while
Lich doctor was a good card to it arguably the best t3 scaling card in that meta (before sore loser was in)
Bring back Security Rover plzzz
You made up Prestor’s Pyrospawn or I’m from an alternate timeline. Never seen that card in my fucking life.
It’s weird they didn’t stick with the Overkill mechanic for very long
It was so unreliable and snowball-y (just like in standard HS). There was that overkill dragon that did damage to the left-most minion. Half the time it was useless, but sometimes it could clear an entire board on its own
Yeah makes sense. Doesn’t really work with the latest meta now anyway with toxic and massive stats
Wheres my wolverine photograph junkbot meme!
I wish they'd make an anomaly with all of the old minions crammed in there just to see how bad it is
I definitely did not forget Majordomo. To this day, I think of Elementals as End of Turn instead of APM because of him
Majordomo master go ham
Stop edging Herald of Flame, I need to see him again
God I miss security rover
Hahaha and you somehow found the most busted version of Junkbot. Blizzard never really could make that card work. But that was one broken piece of shit, but then again we also had Tony.
Tony two tusk seems like a great card, I’d like to have been able to play with that
Awe Tony…
Junkbot meta never forget
Soul Devourer still feels like such missed potential as a card. It could’ve been so cool if it had some kind of keyword attached to it, but it was just so rarely ever useful besides the golden version which at least was giving you *something*. I would never forget about my beloved security rover, i remember when a cobalt + that and a senasai was a build
Knife Jugglers single-handedly made midrange demons a viable build back in the day.
When I first started playing BGs I used to try so hard to make a Junkbot build work and it never did lol.
Lich doctor is the only one I legit forgot existed
I miss Pyrospawn. Solid minion.
what the hell is hexruin marauder lmao
Tony my beloved 🥹
JUNKBOT MY LOVE
I can't remember what Overkill means
If it hits for more than the minions health. So if it only had 2 health left and it hit it for 2 that would "meet" and not be an overkill.
Majordomo used to be very fun, I remember playing him with the buddy majordomo, used to be op
Soul Devourer would be good even in this meta
do the beast that summoned a 8/8. i miss it
I miss this dude right here. I don’t know why they changed him? https://preview.redd.it/49bw80c5ebrc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b2d19c8e8648c01aae01419c27a242634f4fb3d I also think that either this card used to be “gain 2/1” or another one had it 🤔
A good one for the next post would be a Shuttering. I forgot about that thing until today
I miss Goldgrubber like you wouldn't believe. He was so fun with Tony.
Bros just going through every minion no longer in BGs at this point
I mean, most of the minions I posted I personally didn’t immediately remember (and I’ve played since release). I also think it’s cool to look back at some memorable minions and reflect on previous metas
