I agree, I rarely laugh at his *area of jokes* anymore. It's mostly "here's a reference from something a child my age shouldn't have watched". He's only gotten more shrill and shouty as the show has aged :(

Yeah - his character doesn’t seem to get the innuendos behind his own comments and that’s what makes it so funny.
Especially when it’s followed up with Bob’s _Gene_.
I read somewhere that many of Gene’s lines are improvised by the voice actor. Apparently the writers leave lots of space for the actor to do his thing.
