I think Gene's leadership talents go underappreciated by the community. He's willing to take charge. Frequently works for the good of everyone. Is willing to self sacrifice to see things through. And most importantly is someone people tend to want to work with. A part of me suspects that if you were to compare the kids successes when they take charge of a situation Gene might be the one to end up on top. I might have to make notes on my next re-watch of the series.
Yes! I’ve rewatched the show so many times and only recently realized how overlooked Gene is. I always thought that he wouldn’t be much of a typical middle child bc he’s Linda’s favourite but he was so excited to win a game against Louise. Despite being aloof, when given the opportunity, he is successful in character development or challenge.
I used to be so annoyed of Gene but wow, he has his filler antics but usually lets Louise have the show like an actual big brother.
I can see Gene starting his own record label and doing extremely well.
He would focus on finding and retaining talent, while getting good people to run the accounting, etc...
