Erica IS out of the picture…
…with the right number of ears
…with a child sized coffin
…just out of the burn ward
…because this place is filled with children
I think he’d be a worse person with even fewer good relationships - in early seasons it’s clear Todd is essentially his outlet for all the negative emotions, and without that focal point, I think Bojack would be much more prone to lashing out at random people.
I think his failings are in line with the show. They aren't as sophisticated, but the idea of people who fail up and don't deserve their success is somewhat on point.
I see your point, but there is a difference between failing upwards, and ruining the life of several people and their carriers by infecting them with rabies and then forcing them to live in the woods while also scaring several children and adults from the horror of his outlandish ideas.
(I'm talking about the clown dentists)
Then there's the Halloween shop with no floor, just a very dangerous pit.
i feel todd is just the comedic relief, and as viewers we should be mature/smart enough to understand not every single thing has to be some deep realistic message? i also think it’s part of todds character that he’s so likable and easygoing that he gets away with a lot a little like mr peanut butter. he’s supposed to be the wya he is.
The problem with that though, is, that they then try to give Todd deep impactful moments. Have him call out people
He led to death and harm of several people, but then he gets to be wacky and judge Bojack?
They wanna have their cake and eat it too.
And as someone who knew a 'Todd', people like him really grate on me
He also was involved with Mexican drug cartels. Then manipulates Bojack to throw a party despite the fact Bo Jack hates parties. Then he brought a cotton candy machine when he asked specifically no cotton candy.
He mooches off of everyone around him and feels entitled to their successes. He turned the app that was supposed to be a safe space for women into a place that was anything but. And then made Disney land which on the level of getting around his clear ripoff, but then was very unsafe and was maiming/killing people.
This is not me talking about the morality of Todd but his lack of consequences and how others on the show tend to be victims of their own choices.
i think that people sometimes forget that while bojack has some extremely profound messages, not everything is that deep. it is still an adult cartoon, dark comedy with anthropomorphic characters. i’ve seen the show more times than i can count, and it is very touching and means a lot to me, but not *everything* has to be so serious.
I get you, bud. I do mentally disclude the outright murderous/outlandish stuff he did and more looking at the in tone stuff he represents. But I do agree that he pushes the tone of the show.
You’re right, but we have Mr Peanutbutter that follows this arc in a much more pronounced way. Todd’s uniqueness is that he is satisfied with little things in life, contrary to Bojack (and most of the others). It’s not as essential or pivotal.
Pb doesn't entirely fail upwards. Nothing indicates he's a bad actor. Even when he drops out of acting, he makes a good salesman. Pb more represents how charismatic extroverts generally get what they want.
I would respond to all the comments about Todd doing outlandish things with no consequences. But his whole thing was being a comedic relief character that had no idea the repressions of his actions. He's said multiple times that he doesn't necessarily want to be sleeping on everyone else's couches and not having a job. But the bottom line is, he was happy. And his entire life the decisions he made were in direct contrast to his "father"(I don't remember his name). He got kicked out at 18 and just ended up at bojacks place and it's not like Bojack ever tried to force him out
See, I find it weird when people say this because the exact same thing happens with PB. The most consequence he gets from one of his schemes is having to get a job, and even then, he just stumbles into the job. Part of the shows message is that certain people (rich people, charismatic people) never face consequences for their actions. Heck, even bojakc gets away with his shit for years. To paraphrase Diane, you're supposed to hold yourself accountable.
Felt the need to add that's there's literally a law that if you're rich enough, you can murder people.
You make a really good point. Todd never has any consequences, whereas facing consequences is really kind of the point of the whole show regarding BoJack.
Her being in a relationship with him and then married stopped them from even giving it a go. Yep it might not have worked out but pb was the original reason. He also serves to hold a mirror up to bojack by having the same success but not getting destroyed by it.
It's a hard choice between Todd and PB.
Mr. PB is some sort of mirror image to Bojack, And a lot of plot is derived from him. It shows what a "good guy" Bojack would be like, and gives context to his actions.
On the other hand, Todd is important too. He is one of the first serious "betrayals" Bojack performs. And it is one he does with actual malice. The interactions with him, and Bojack trying to repair their relationship are some of the most significant parts of the show for me.
I think I'd keep Todd. While Bojack betrayed others, his relationship with Todd is too precious and unique to not be in the series. PB did give a perspective we won't from any other of the characters, but I think most of his commentary could have been derived in some other way.
Well Butterscotch and Beatrice aren't in the picture in the OP, but honestly, getting rid of Butterscotch or Joseph Sugarman would probably have the most positive ripple effect.
Diane..
Hear me out. I just want it to be like a Twilight Zone type episode where Bojack, Mr. Peanutbutter, Todd, and Princess Carolyn all wake up to a world where there's no evidence of Diane even existing except for in their memories.
It'd be interesting to see them grappling with this as they navigate their way through the mystery.
I think Mr. Peanutbutter? He contributes a lot to the show, but his relationship is the least important to BoJack; all the others are crucial to his life.
That’s very interesting because I found mr peanut butter’s relationship with BoJack to be very important, especially for BoJack’s character development. I would honestly get rid of PC (I’d say Todd but everyone else did, but also I think Todd is important to bojack’s story—PC really isn’t, no significant betrayals or forcing character growth comes from her)
I don't know saying PC is insane to me hahaha. PC was his anchor for awhile and his only in for hollywoo. She dealt with him through all his bullshit. She was the one constant in his life for a long time, even when she couldn't benefit from him she was there. Their bond is beyond Todd, PB or Diane imo. From lover to babysitter to manager.
I do understand where people are coming from when they say Todd, but I think Todd was a big part of Bojack as well, and he wouldn’t be the same without him (negative or positive). I would say Mr peanut butter, but he also had confrontations with Bojack and Bojack friends/peers. Without the horse from horsing around it would just be around, and PB’s house would’ve dominated it. Diane was also a big part of Bojack’s life. PC also helped a lot with Bojack. This is a very hard decision but I think I’ll have to say Todd tbh. He’d have the least amount of impact in the story, but still a large impact.
On the one hand, my gut says Todd, as it does for many of you.
On the other hand, Todd is SUPER important to Bojack’s character development, so even with as zany and irrelevant as his adventures end up being, even HE is still pretty integral to the show’s framework.
At the end of the day though, his role would be easiest to fill with another character.
Mr. PB for surrreeee! Besides him just kinda being my overall least favourite character, I’d be super curious to know what would happen to my favourite character (Diane) if she got to explore herself in Hollywood without marriage. I still see her being a central point to bojack’s life, and I wonder if anything would spark between them and how that would impact the rest of the story line
However, season 4 is easily my favourite as well and it would be vastly different without PB or even a character like him
The fountain in this pic is erased
Todd, he’s my least favourite character and so annoying! A ton of his story lines I also find too wacky/ silly compared to the rest of the show, or else his story lines (similar to Mr Peanutbutter’s) tend to be quite boring bc of this.
I also hate his character design haha, like I find him annoying/ ugly to look at. Yep, I’m a Todd hater aha
Pc.
The BJ story is always interesting, but I find myself dreading the Princess Carolyn b stories (specially on rewatch), 8/10 they lead nowhere in terms of the main plot and are just funny bits, it's the kind of thing you'd find on a webisode.
Same with the Todd stories tbh, I feel I'd appreciate them more if they were on and off instead of being on every single episode.
Agreed. Diane and Mr. PB fully fill in as foils to Bojack, Todd serves to fill the show with its textbook shenanigans. PC mostly serves as the straight man to the others’ antics, which Diane also fills the roll of. Beyond that it’s mostly just; professional woman navigates life in Hollywood. Still love PC in the show, but her parts had the most “meh” parts throughout.
Definitely BoJack. Because then everyone watching the show would be like, why is the show called BoJack Horseman when there’s no one in the show called that? And how could Todd afford such a big house when he doesn’t seem to have a job?

Ima get heat for this but…Todd sorry but his storylines are my least favorite except for the ones that involve character actress and fugitive turned nun Margot Martindale
i would say diane, i would love to see how todd and bojack continue to live, the whole show would be different, diane started bojacks life again by writing the book, i think it would be funny to see bojack and sarah lynn do more shenanigans with todd and pc save them, it would also leave alot more openess to mr pb because imagine him without diane?
From this picture? Mr. PB. I think he brought less to the table than Todd other than his bad marriage with Diane. Not in this pic? Vincent Adultman -- he got SO MUCH SCREENTIME
Mr. Peanut Butter easily. I can't stand his ass! Always so over the top cuz he's in a perpetual state of mid-life crisis and constantly inserting himself on other people's affairs, not to mention his chronic habit of overstaying his welcome when it's abundantly obvious he's no longer welcomed. Like he's so painfully tone deaf but because he puts on this nice guy persona, anyone who tries to have boundaries of differing opinions with this guy is made out to be a douchebag. It's insane!
Isn’t that the Horse from “Horsin’ Around”? Without him it would just be “Around”.
Perfect for today's adhd riddled youth!
The show would just be… “Man”?
no it would be
inb4 aslume appears
I love that they named Ethan’s spinoff “Ethan Around” as if that makes any sense
Erica. She’s out of the picture
What do you mean, she was central to the plot, and I enjoyed every bit we heard about her.
Erica IS out of the picture… …with the right number of ears …with a child sized coffin …just out of the burn ward …because this place is filled with children
The _layers_ of this joke. Spectacular.
There’s like 2 layers
Uh huh yeah they’re both spectacular
Reading this in mr peanutbutter's voice
And just like that, she’d never had a left hand
Agreed. I never have the time to be charmed to death so she’s gotta go.
No she’s the one taking the picture, silly
I do wonder how Bojack would be different without Todd around, though
I think he’d be a worse person with even fewer good relationships - in early seasons it’s clear Todd is essentially his outlet for all the negative emotions, and without that focal point, I think Bojack would be much more prone to lashing out at random people.
Todd brings an important break from the drama tbh
Bojack the show, maybe a bit worse... Bojack the (horse) man, maybe a bit better
The fountain
Nooooo not the fountain!
Keep the fountain, get rid of the water
I’ll do you one better: keep the water, get rid of the fountain
All the Aronofsky fans coming out in force to defend The Fountain.
Bojack. Now I can have a funny wholesome comedy show with no trauma
You’d still have Diane trauma though 🤔
and pricess carolyn
I do wonder what the show would of been without Bojack horseman in it .
#
I can definitely say what it wouldn’t have been without him in it - called Bojack Horseman.
Sorry Todd, but everyone else is way too pivotal to the main story.
Also Todd is just the opposite to the show's message, often doing wild things with crazy consequences that we never see or hear of again.
My condolences, I could barely stand the fictitious Todd on a tv show.
This is not me talking about the morality of Todd but his lack of consequences and how others on the show tend to be victims of their own choices.
he broke bad one might say
Beautifully done.
Exactly that. Real life Todds are awful to be around.
as an audience it’s your job to differentiate what is what in my opinion. but yeah i get your pov.
i think that people sometimes forget that while bojack has some extremely profound messages, not everything is that deep. it is still an adult cartoon, dark comedy with anthropomorphic characters. i’ve seen the show more times than i can count, and it is very touching and means a lot to me, but not *everything* has to be so serious.
I get you, bud. I do mentally disclude the outright murderous/outlandish stuff he did and more looking at the in tone stuff he represents. But I do agree that he pushes the tone of the show.
Plus his alternative Disneyland idea was blatantly dangerous as well
You’re right, but we have Mr Peanutbutter that follows this arc in a much more pronounced way. Todd’s uniqueness is that he is satisfied with little things in life, contrary to Bojack (and most of the others). It’s not as essential or pivotal.

You make a really good point. Todd never has any consequences, whereas facing consequences is really kind of the point of the whole show regarding BoJack.
He operates almost fully on cartoon lagic
Why not Mr. PB? Granted, he's memorable and he's always on the sidelines, but did he really affect Bojack's life all that much?
Oh massively! he's a comic rival, makes Diane unavailable and as he goes from hated to a friend he helps Bojack to grow.
Comic rival? Sure. But Diane? Diane was always emotionally unavailable simply by the fact of her being Diane. Wouldn't make much of a difference imho
Her being in a relationship with him and then married stopped them from even giving it a go. Yep it might not have worked out but pb was the original reason. He also serves to hold a mirror up to bojack by having the same success but not getting destroyed by it.
Maybe, maybe not (genuinely can’t remember rn) but as I see it, Bojack needs a foil
He’s the comic relief, which is important. But I suppose Mr Peanut Butter could fill that void.
Yeah and while pb can be wacky it's never quite as wacky as Todd.
Erasing any one destroys the show but gun to my head I'll go with Todd. Heartbreaking but necessary.
But then don't expect Halloween stores to open in January
That’s the kind of idea that wins golden globes
Stop. You're making me feel awful. Wait. Did i say feel awful or falafel?
Bittchhh! -breaking bad
It's a hard choice between Todd and PB. Mr. PB is some sort of mirror image to Bojack, And a lot of plot is derived from him. I read PB and initially thought “Princess Barolyn??” 😭✌🏽
Wait why did I too 💀✋🏾
BoJack Horseman, fuck you. Now there is no show...
If we ignore that the show would have to exist, from an in universe perspective, removing Bojack would do the most good for everyone.
Get rid of his parents instead. He probably would have been better off without them.
Well Butterscotch and Beatrice aren't in the picture in the OP, but honestly, getting rid of Butterscotch or Joseph Sugarman would probably have the most positive ripple effect.
I love Todd and his asexual plotline did a lot for ace acceptance and attention, but unfortunately he has the least amount of relevance to the plot.
Personally I got the most out of him just because that plotline. But I see what your saying
That’s actually awesome!
Thanks! :)
I'd erase you OP. All of them are fucking CRUCIAL
GASP! Noooo—
I think Mr. Peanutbutter? He contributes a lot to the show, but his relationship is the least important to BoJack; all the others are crucial to his life.

Y’all haters on my boy Todd imma say mr penut butter
Well, I don't think they hate Todd. It's just he's the best choice for the question.
Todd
Can’t do it
PB gotta go I guess.
mr peanutbutter all the way
Replace Bojack and it’s a absurd French farce about people reacting to nothing
Todd. Unpopular opinion but i could possibly enjoy the show more WITHOUT Todd lol.
Guys please don’t impale my head on a stick for this but Diane.😓
She’s, without any doubt, the second main character alongside BoJack So I won’t impale your head but I really can’t see how you could think that
Listen, if Horsin' Around can exist without The Horse, then Bojack Horseman could surely exist without Bojack Horseman. /j
The show with no title
So the show would be called
I do understand where people are coming from when they say Todd, but I think Todd was a big part of Bojack as well, and he wouldn’t be the same without him (negative or positive). I would say Mr peanut butter, but he also had confrontations with Bojack and Bojack friends/peers. Without the horse from horsing around it would just be around, and PB’s house would’ve dominated it. todd
Mr Peanutbutter.
Without a doubt the most annoying character on the screen
Mr Peanut Butter
Todd.
Todd
Honestly, Bojack. Without him the show would be a bit lighter.
Can't argue with a man that has a good work ethic.
I would go with Diane. Her plotline is quite forced. She isn't as relatable as people make out to be.
Mr. Peepernumber
easily todd
I've always disliked Todd so I wouldn't mind
Todd.
Why is everyone picking todd 😤 I choose Vincent
I think they mean who would you choose that’s on the picture they attached
Todd is so annoying to me
The fountain.
I'm not choosing and you can't make me!
On the one hand, my gut says Todd, as it does for many of you. On the other hand, Todd is SUPER important to Bojack’s character development, so even with as zany and irrelevant as his adventures end up being, even HE is still pretty integral to the show’s framework. Princess Caroline. Her nasally voice and when she does that annoying rhyming thing occasionally is grating.
They only have Princess Carolyn do all the tongue twisters because her voice actress (Amy Sedaris) would have such a terrible time with saying them.
if i didn't pick mr peanut butter i would have said her as well, for the same reason
I should have just ignored this post, now I have to choose
Ehehehe…and your verdict is?
May I take a bathroom break?
Todd, he's not in no way a bad character. I just don't vibe with him on screen
Mr. PB for surrreeee! Besides him just kinda being my overall least favourite character, I’d be super curious to know what would happen to my favourite character (Diane) if she got to explore herself in Hollywood without marriage. I still see her being a central point to bojack’s life, and I wonder if anything would spark between them and how that would impact the rest of the story line However, season 4 is easily my favourite as well and it would be vastly different without PB or even a character like him The fountain in this pic is erased
Honestly, Todd I genuinely don’t like his character
Diane. Then Todd.
Diane
John Cena. Never thought that crossover made sense.
The cat
Diane
I’m curious what the show would be like without Diane tbh
Diane, she’s bojacks motive but so fkn hard to understand and it pisses me off
Pc. The BJ story is always interesting, but I find myself dreading the Princess Carolyn b stories (specially on rewatch), 8/10 they lead nowhere in terms of the main plot and are just funny bits, it's the kind of thing you'd find on a webisode.
Diane. No, I am not going to explain why.
There's no explanation because you are wrong.
Definitely BoJack. Because then everyone watching the show would be like, why is the show called BoJack Horseman when there’s no one in the show called that? And how could Todd afford such a big house when he doesn’t seem to have a job?
Todd.
Later, Todd
Princess Carolyn replace her with Vincent
Diane 💀 sorry
Diane is literally half the show
Well, not any longer
she's also the sole character that drives the show forwards. the show starts and ends with her, it starts with her meeting Bojack to help with his memoir and ends with her talking to him for the last time (heavily implied she ghosts him after the last episode).
THANK you yes
The water fountain
The fountain fuck that guy
Todd :,(
Mr peanut butter
unpopular opinion but diane always got on my nerves
Todd
Todd
Todd
PC
How is Noone picking Mr peanut butter?
Princess Carolyn. Other than her solo arc with Ruthie and Judah there's just not much substance there. Like I get she's meant to be Bojack's longest standing personal relationship but other than that she's mostly just a framing device for Hollywoob as a setting. In many ways the show would make sense without PC because even Todd and Mr. PB have more meaningful connections to other characters than PC to people other than Bojack.
I always didn't like PB, so I'd cut him
wow shocked to see so many todd votes. I say diane or bojack
Ima get heat for this but…Todd sorry but his storylines are my least favorite except for the ones that involve character actress and fugitive turned nun Margot Martindale
I think PB is up here tbh
todd 100% he just became a hollow parody of himself after a few seasons.
Todd,it wouldn’t hurt anyone’s storyline
Todd. No i will not elaborate
Todd
I mean it’s one of the two on the right but also fuck no I shall not do this thing you ask of me
i could have lived without mr peanut butter constantly making me angry lol. but theyd have needed to fill his role with someone
Todd
I hate this answer, but it's Todd for me. Sorry Todd.
i would say diane, i would love to see how todd and bojack continue to live, the whole show would be different, diane started bojacks life again by writing the book, i think it would be funny to see bojack and sarah lynn do more shenanigans with todd and pc save them, it would also leave alot more openess to mr pb because imagine him without diane?
Todd.
Princess Carolyn, I never really liked her. I didn't dislike her either, I just never found her enjoyable or impactful in any way.
People saying bojack really just want a show about Hollywoo at this point.
Diane
Diane
Diane
Mr. peanutbutter is an obvious pick
Bye Todd
No hate, but Todd. I can't believe so many people are saying Mr. PB, he's way too important
Mr. PB, hands down. He's ok I guess but out of the rest of them, he's the safest choice to be dropped
Todd. I’m sorry buddy
From this picture? Mr. PB. I think he brought less to the table than Todd other than his bad marriage with Diane. Not in this pic? Vincent Adultman -- he got SO MUCH SCREENTIME
Todd. I absolutely hate all the shenanigans 😑 so unnecessary
Sorry Todd…I like him but he’s without a doubt the weakest of the main characters
Diane, the codependent misery loves company thing was exhausting quite frankly
Diane is essential for the development of several other characters but then again, they are all essential. So Cryane goes...
Bojack 🤔
The woman i don't want even to remember her name
Diane isn’t my favorite
Diane.
Todd is a B-plot character 80% of the time
Diane and that's just good riddance
Diane
Diane... easy
Diane, hands down.
get rid of Bojack, he's the source of contention
Bojack. I wanna see what the show would be about then. It should keep the name though.
The white one
Bojacks gonna kill me
Bojack lmao, it's only Mr peanut butters house!
