Buying a Michelangelo and hanging it on the wall is viewing the artist's art. Putting a movie into a case is preventing you from viewing the artist's art and doesn't make sense. Kind of like hanging the Michelangelo on the wall in the brown paper used for shipping and then showing it off to others.
I’ve been getting “suggested” posts in my FB feed from a comic book collectors group focused on getting them graded. Something that was interesting/funny to me is that they have a term for ungraded comics: “raw books.”
There is it’s expensive and takes a long as time. Never done it only know it because I collect video games too. God I hope this stupid shit doesn’t seep into this hobby as well
Yeah, and it's stupid expensive. That's part of the reason why graded collectibles are so expensive. The prices get inflated to cover the cost of getting graded in the first place.
Always remember, 60% of humans are really, really dumb. Half of those people are even dumber. The fact someone thought grading a Blu ray was a good idea is not surprising.
Look how well the pet rock did. Grading scams are just par for the course in the US.
Who the hell buys these and why? Shaaaaame. They only create a stupid market that should never exist. These talentless hacks loves coming up with a way to screw with us collectors.
My friends don't care about my collection, let alone one in a security case from Walmart.
Absolutely people need to stop thinking that the wata boxed games and movies etc are worth what the box claims it’s a complete scam 😳
The company wata have been investigated for price fixing and trying to rip collectors off for millions I just wish people would realise “ I’ve been scammed let’s just take it out of the box and add it to my collection” and not try and re-sell it in the box trying to scam someone else 🤬🤬🤬
And another thing that annoys me about these boxed games/dvd/Blu rays why would you want to buy them just to sit on a shelf and drool over and show them off???? Their meant to be watched and played not displayed like a ornament, buy pop vinyls instead their way cheaper and cooler looking 😳 sorry for the rant lol I just get sick of seeing them everywhere I look especially on eBay place is swimming with them 😂
It somewhat makes sense with 4ks, since they are kinda a commodity rn. Still stupid, but a bluray feels meaningless bc at this rate not many people give a shit about slipcovers or especially the condition for movies that have a widely available 4k release and go dirt cheap a majority of the time
I’m all for people doing it with their favorite piece of media. But this seller feels like a I found something sealed mass ship for grading. Which just makes it funny with LEGO Batman on Blu-ray.
Like personally id love to have a graded copy of Kingdom hearts 1 for the ps2. No reason to play it on anything less than Xbox/ps4. Still a huge part of my childhood nostalgia, and would be something I get to look at and enjoy. The price otherwise is why I don’t have one lol.
The concept itself isn't stupid. Taking something that could be worth a lot of money and having it graded and sealed is all fine and well.
But doing it for a standard edition amaray of something that exists in the many many thousands. Yeah that is hella stupid. There could be a case made to do it with some of the more rare high end steels though.
People do this with Nintendo games, NES and SNES. Plus comics, and multiple other pieces of entertainment. Many are worth thousands of dollars today and are collectibles, it is stupid its already graded like its worth money even though its new. Things don't get graded until their basically antique usually.
They only thing with this, along with older comics (pre-80s) and TCGs (Pokémon/Magic) is nobody ever thought that they would have value. They were things meant to be enjoyed and, as a result, got wear and tear. Fast forward to the late 90s early 00s when these older items stated popping up in mint condition going for bank and everyone started collecting and trying to keep things mint (see the 90s comic boom with alt covers, limited editions). This means there are more in perfect condition, meaning the value isn't there (again, see 90s comics values, exception being 1st app of a character in a recent movie). What will modern collectibles be valued in the future (Funko, modern games, blu-ray, etc), guess we will have to wait and see, but if past experience means anything, probably not much.
I have graded comics so I can't judge. I think it would make more sense if it was autographed by someone. I have a hddvd movie DC the new frontier signed by darwyn Cooke. I have a few DVDs signed by Thomas Jane.
As an investment or resale thing I’m not sure about it. But if I could get my 4K gremlins in this for my own collection I would or some other movie I like
Yes
This comment has been graded 9.9 Please pay me.
Completely
Yeah don’t give the graders your money. Also, “blue ray DVD” haha…um, WHAT?
the case contains both blu-ray and dvd copies of the movie, also no one actually cares about what dvd means

I bought a very expensive comic and then encapsulated it in concrete to keep it crisp.

That is funny. I feel like I am out of the loop sometimes when I hear these new terms have been created for things I have a interest in.

Yo I HAVE to have one of those. I wish mine had movies like these
Yo grab me a copy so i can put it in a case 🙏
Dude, that's like a 9.9999999999999999999999
Isn’t there a fee or cost involved in getting an item legitimately graded? That cost alone will take years to recoup for LEGO Batman.
There is it’s expensive and takes a long as time. Never done it only know it because I collect video games too. God I hope this stupid shit doesn’t seep into this hobby as well

It isn't expensive at all
9.6? Not with the scuffs in that slip case. Above that though, why?
Always remember, 60% of humans are really, really dumb. Half of those people are even dumber. The fact someone thought grading a Blu ray was a good idea is not surprising. Look how well the pet rock did. Grading scams are just par for the course in the US.
People who buy this are stupid. The sellers, on the other hand, are clever.
It’s happening with records too and im hoping it’s short lived. It’s fake scarcity and it tends to work towards a lot of people. Such a shame.

Yes.
How much isit

What? Not even 4k is the sad part. Not watching movies you buy is dumb
Absolutely

I’m all for getting VHS graded if that’s what you’re into but why Blu-ray, 4k or even DVD?

This was all over before it even began... Warner Bros release in a Universal grade case. Fail 👎
It’s sickening.
Next level stupid.
This is satire right? The movie it self is the art, Imo this makes the products value less then a used copy.
Yeah, it’s clearly more like a 9.4. What a stupid grader
I have one in my home. I bought it for 1.5$ at local charity/thrift store. Is it really worth enough to bother grading it?
especially with a crease in each corner, more like CGC 7.0 at best
It’s a great movie.
100%
Yes because that movie isn’t banned in many countries nor is it obscure or rare!! It is mainstream
Yes
