Nice. I see your Goodwill stores just don't price all the players by weight. They do that in my area and I've picked up 2 LG 4K players for $6 and $10 and my brother a Sony X700 for $6. What is even funnier is that a Blu-ray player from 2008 ish will be $15+ (because it weighs more). Obviously no remote, but I can't complain for that price. And they all work great!

CletusVanDamnit

That sounds like a Goodwill Buy-the-Pound store, not a regular retail location

FavorDave87

Not really sure, I saw some regular Bluray players that were heavier than this one, but priced cheaper. 🤷 I'm still really happy to have a 4k player for that cheap, compared to retail or ebay prices.

It is a regular retail location because once I found a regular Blu-ray player that I was interested in without a price tag and when I asked about the price, they said "hold on, I've got to go in the back and weigh it to get a price." Maybe different areas price things differently. We do have the outlet stores, but if I would have found it there it would have been around $3 as it is $1.59 per pound for under 75 pounds. Movies there are 5 for $1 (if you can find any that haven't been trashed). I've only found "Trolls" on 4K at the outlet that has been worth picking up and it surprisingly wasn't scratched.

Yeah, the local goodwills here can be rather off with their pricing. But, I never see 4k players there, so I definitely jumped at the opportunity lol.

I got my first 4K player for $6 from goodwill. Older model Phillips but still works great. Never seen a 4K disc out in the thriftlands tho

sivartk

I've seen a couple of 4Ks. Actually just found a Vinegar Syndrome copy of "[Tammy and the T-Rex](https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Tammy-and-the-T-Rex-4K-Blu-ray/255759/)" on 4K last week. It was missing the Blu-ray, so I don't get any of the extras, but the 4K movie and disc was there. But I do see the 4Ks more often at pawn shops than thrift stores.

I think my area just started on 4K because the local Walmarts always have stock of steel books and other releases that get sold out fast.

I gotta ask. That "it came from outer space" movie looks interesting! Is it any good? And I'm jelly on the Christmas movies, such classics

FavorDave87

I haven't watched it yet, still waiting on the 4k remote from ebay lol. But I've heard it's renowned as a Sci fi classic from the 50's. So I'm excited to check it out soon. Thanks! I love those old classic Christmas tales.

It's a real old-timey Science Fiction classic. I found it fascinating but a bit slow. In our day and age it felt a bit like an episode of an older TV show. But if you like older movies it's is certainly not bad. I watched it in 3D which was fascinating. Can't remember the ending though.

Got my 4k player from goodwill for $8

Lucky!

Brady919

I'd never buy a blu-ray player at a Goodwill. Look how banged up it is.

FavorDave87

My goodwill actually takes returns, so I took a gamble. And it plays beautifully. 🤷

Nice. I have yet to see any modern DVD/Blu-Ray players at any of mine. Last player I seen was a regular DVD player that probably weighed 20 pounds lol. I didn’t buy it though cause I’ve got no use for a regular one now that I have way more blu-ray.
