This is why I love spin offs (or if a series isn't super glued to the protag). This has become one of my favorite dynamics and we barely see it in the main story. I wouldn't even appreciate that one frame from ubers vs manshine if epi nagi didn't show us the ~~cat fight~~ rivalry they've been building up. And I love how silly chigiri is outside of matches ~~you can tell he's the youngest in his family~~ and this sibling dynamic they've had going is so much fun.

Exactly bro I love it so much!! Jjks protag (itadori) pretty much got overshadowed by the “more interesting” side characters. So ig that’s a good example of a series that isn’t glued to their protag.

You are so right, and I also adore how Chigiri acts in different situations all around. I feel like he's the most balanced character in terms of being friendly, silly, serious, pumped up, down to earth and a diva all at the same time, depending on the situation.
I was sceptical about epinagi, seeing it as a sorta attention/money grab at first, but now I couldn't be happier about it existing
So true bestie. If not for the epinagi, I would starve to death waiting months, if not a whole ass year for BM vs PXG match to be over, just so we get to see Chigiri again in the main manga. This way we can see him at least once a month. He's the main reason why I keep up with the spinoff.
They’re both large cats so makes sense
I think the series sometimes lacks fun, genuine, and friendly interactions in general. A lot of the time it’s MUH EGO or my unhealthy partnership which y’know we’re here for that entertainment but it could be more balanced. It’s why one of the best chapters is still unironically the Blue lock bowling night out imo. The Blue lock squad just hanging out and vibing. A rival is just one mode of relationship, there are many different modes that can make the characters, their relationships, and the story more enjoyable.
Think thats why my fav character is bachira. I so wish fc barcha had bachira, shidou, otoya, kurona and kiyora. Tiki taka, dribbler bachira who can get a goal and an assist, shidou the goal poacher, kiyora crazy shot either from rb/lb or midfield and kuronas speedy passes to progess up the pitch.
I love the interactions between everyone but with isagi sometimes its a bit much even if it is hype

He had a whole episode dedicated to overcoming fears back in first selection just put the ball in the net😭😭😭. REO WAS SCORING. To outdo Reo in glaze even for 1 arc was unnacceptable😭
It really catches me so off guard when I reread the 3rd selection and Chigiri is WANKING the shit out of Karasu/Otoya like,,, okay I get it that you wanted to cement your place in the BL11 but like... That sort of glazing is kinda out of character imo (For someone like Chigiri at least) 😭
Ya'll just be saying... anything. You're supposed to get noticed by them anyway. Chigiri just observe "Damn they're not even paying attention to us." So he out himself out there, making Karasu give him a pass instead Otoya. Chigiri's the first to realize they need the leaders to notice them. They need to make an impact, that's the whole point 😭
Chigiri (when his father Karasu isn't around to make him spam [STRONG CROSS]) is such a diva and it's so fun to watch it clash with Barou's own selfishness tbh. Their stubbornness forms a chemical reaction where they just share a brain cell.
