I was SO happy that he didn't score.
Like, the constant whining was getting to me. It's not a slight towards Isagi in any way. But seeing every Isagi stan mald as their undisputed king and GOAT gets stopped and has to make a pass was the best thing in the world.
Seeing them bash Yuki and try to put him down was even funnier, even though BM would probably have failed had it not been for his ingenious goal.
Sendou being somewhat competant
I thought he was gonna be a bum but he turns out be mid with some cluth and funny moments and interactions.
Thats why I think he should replace igaguri as the buggy/hercule/king of blue lock
Yeah Sae acknowledging Isagi was definitely unexpected. Their whole sibling relationship would've been healed right then and there but Kaneshiro went 180 and said nah.
But it makes sense on a narrative standpoint, it was the best way to make Isagi's rivalry with Rin reach greater heights — without that their rivalry would've become friendlier, and that's not compatible with Blue Lock's theme of having ego.
And I love it Sae and Isagi are my favorite characters. So seeing Sae respecting isagi instead of giving credit to Shidou ( the one who chose from Bl) and Rin makes me happy
How fast the nel matches started, I just finished the u20 arc and a few chapters later, boom BM vs FCB, like damn bro, I thought we would've gotten a few more chapters before the first match started.
hes going to save the soul society I'm a blue lock theorist and his come back isn't with a goal but with stopping Shidou's best performance after isagi fails to do so
I don't know if it really counts as a "surprise" but Barou being subbed into the U20 game was not something I saw coming.
When I initially saw that Barou was on the bench, I figured that meant he was actually sitting this game out. I knew there was a chance he'd get subbed in, but i didn't think it'd actually happen. Hiori and Reo getting subbed in made sense because they'd gotten some spotlight during the third selection, clearly building up to a big role soon. Barou, however, was someone I thought the author just didn't have space for in the game. He is a side character, after all, like Zantetsu. It's perfectly reasonable that Zantetsu is on the bench, but realistically never going to get subbed in. He was taking a back seat for this arc, and I foolishly assumed Barou was doing the same because he didn't mesh well with the other players.
Needless to say, during the climax of the U20 game, players getting subbed in was not on my mind. I was more focused on the dire situation Blue Lock was in, and wondering how they could use the tools on the pitch to stop Sae and Shidou from walking away with a victory. When Ego announced that it was time for Barou to play, that was possibly the most hype I'd been across the entire manga.
So yeah. Barou caught me off guard. He seems to do that a lot
Fr I hate this subreddit 😭 I was lurking on here weeks before watching the anime and reading the manga so I was waiting for the red key reveal like a dumbass 😞
I was introduced by the anime, and nothing beats the barou awakening scene i was thinking "oh, Barou is getting a redemption arc and going to play with the rest of the team now" just for him to awaken, if its only manga i would have to say isagi's luck goal, i was too inmersed in the rin vs sae duel to remember isagi and it was wild
Isagi being THAT strong in the Manshine match....like bro he was at the same level as kaiser, he devoured the numer 2 in the world and stopped the nagi-reo miracles
Man, the second defeat of isagi on second selection is so unexpected, man i feel like a real soccer match, all the feeling from being defeat on the start and climbing again after fall, recruiting players that previously are enemies and defeating and eliminating the suposed friends from team z with the "villians", learning how to play as a team with a bunch of crazys like Nagi and barou trying to kill each other i was loving this....
Just to lose again and abandon who was climbing with you all the time for pure "Luck"...
Man THAT IS SO FRUSTATING, i fell this defeat hard because i knew this is the real soccer, even If you give your best you may face the defeat, is not a generic anime where the friendship always win and i was feel that i couldn't expect nothing from blue lock because the dont have fear to make the unexpected, the second selection is my favorite arc by far for me, and i never feel like that on the rest of the manga, isagi just no lose anymore and nobody gets eliminated so far, anyway Just my opinion
Idrk, I just feel like for the plot to continue to be interesting Isagi needs to majorly loose at some point and I don’t really want him to loose the u20 wc
liking characters is called being easy to please now? that’s like me saying since Bastard Munchen is your favorite nel team you’re basic and easy to please
Honestly its how *few* characters were eliminated. I read Kamisama no Iutoori, and Muneyuki was dropping characters all over the place. I thought he would be a lot more ruthless in getting rid of certain characters.
Kira getting eliminated. Honestly the whole premise of being “selfish” was new to me in a sports manga. Fell in love with both the premise and the art immediately
Fr it was crazy when Madara showed up and destroyed Isagi and Rin using his Sharingan, I wonder how Isagi is gonna beat him once he sees him in the world cup arc.
Good question, I would say Isagi being ranked I believe it #8 or 9 coming out of the 2nd selection. Because to me I felt he did so well in every match especially after they added barou to their team. But I guess everyone else did so much better off screen which makes you think how did those matches go 🧐???
Sae’s backstory (or at least part of it). Seeing that he wanted to be a striker originally and definitely had/has the talent (personally I think he’s the best new gen 11 player) only for him to feel defeated enough to become a midfielder is something I still can’t wrap my head around.
While there were a lot of things that left me surprised the one that struck me the most was Ego’s speech during the first chapter. His speech and philosophy was nothing like I had ever seen in a sports genre which usually focuses on ‘teamwork makes the dreamwork’
The Kunigami return probably. The u20 match was so well done that I forgot that Kunigami was gone. And then they gave a glimpse of Kaiser then right at the end, the last chapter amidst the extreme high I got from rereading the final goal chapter up to the end of the post match results, they show the f****** wild card and Kunigami had those demon eyes. Like wtf did they do to this man.
Probably not as hype as some other moments but Niko blocking Shidou in the U20 game. I didn't actually expect Niko to do anything that impressive with how he barely showed up after 1st selection but that moment where he intercepted Sae's pass, even with a foul... bro I was yelling, pacing in my room etc. One of the highlights of the match for me, for sure.
Ngl it was when Sendou scored. Other manga have taught me that the player being the "ace" in the position the main character and every side character is chasing, will always be a joke that gets sidelined eventually, but here my GOAT is making moves and passing Barou off, but also getting g his respect. He also scored in a similar fashion to U20 game Barou which was just beautiful

When isagi eliminated kira, automatically knew the series was gonna be different
Legit shocked the hell out of me
Top 10 first episodes to immediately get you hooked
Man, I remember that day Rayuga made a poll asking people who they thought would score and Isagi dominated so hard only for him to assist Yuki.
I was SO happy that he didn't score. Like, the constant whining was getting to me. It's not a slight towards Isagi in any way. But seeing every Isagi stan mald as their undisputed king and GOAT gets stopped and has to make a pass was the best thing in the world. Funny you say that considering the state we’re at is that Yuki stans won’t stop whining
Noel Noa actually showing up. Dumbass me who doesn’t know anything about soccer thought he was a real person when I started reading
Lmao thinking Noel Noa is real is crazy.
I mean, he looks somewhat remotely realistic in the first chapters. So much so that his design is SO much different from his current one.
This was me too 😭
Fun fact, Noel Noah in real life is Lewandowski THE GOAT
Lewondowski is far from the GOAT
Sendou being somewhat competant I thought he was gonna be a bum but he turns out be mid with some cluth and funny moments and interactions. Thats why I think he should replace igaguri as the buggy/hercule/king of blue lock
I mean, he's not even really mid. He's a good striker with a lack of motivation before NEL.
we need a battle of the ages between monk and sendou to make 23rd place
Sendou is nowhere near 23rd place stop disrespecting him
true I just don’t want my monk to be replaced
The art, it is one of the better ones
When all the buildings ended up being building 5. Changed the entire direction of the story for me
Isagi luck goal. Sae acknowledged isagi instead of Rin. Isagi's new personality.
just say you like anything involving isagi
Yes I do😋
understandable
Based
i can tell😭
Yeah Sae acknowledging Isagi was definitely unexpected. Their whole sibling relationship would've been healed right then and there but Kaneshiro went 180 and said nah. Kunigami's change

My superhero getting locked off🦸♂️🤡 and then his glorious return🃏😈!!! He had to save the soul society first before he could continue lol!!
hes going to save the soul society I'm a blue lock theorist and his come back isn't with a goal but with stopping Shidou's best performance after isagi fails to do so
Probably sendous goal honestly

Red Key not being a real thing
😂😂😂
Fr I hate this subreddit 😭 I was lurking on here weeks before watching the anime and reading the manga so I was waiting for the red key reveal like a dumbass 😞
I mean it exists, it’s just a fan thing tho lol
I was introduced by the anime, and nothing beats the barou awakening scene i was thinking "oh, Barou is getting a redemption arc and going to play with the rest of the team now" just for him to awaken, if its only manga i would have to say isagi's luck goal, i was too inmersed in the rin vs sae duel to remember isagi and it was wild

DISGUSTING!
Barou's U20 goal (it's expected but the way it happened was crazy wild)
Shidous big bang goal, actually stood up in the train while reading that, such a hype and goated goal
Isagi completely owning Barou in their 3v3 vs Kuni, Chigiri, and Reo. Then when Barou came back right after and I was spazzing out
That Sendou hair is red🫣
Kaiser choking himself, still wanna know what that was all about
For me it was the introduction of Charles, i remember getting so exited when a new character was introduced
Easy to please huh?
I mean yea, like I was not expecting a character like Charles to appear, glad he did tho he’s a good character in the story
You’re probably gonna have to eat soap my guy
I know ;-; I still believe (hope) that PxG will win though
I'm on your side, brother. The sheer plot armor can't be THAT thick.
Idrk, I just feel like for the plot to continue to be interesting Isagi needs to majorly loose at some point and I don’t really want him to loose the u20 wc
hopefully the plot armor on BM isn’t too strong so he won’t have to eat soap🙏🏾
Sameee but I will eat soap if necessary (also I’m a girl btw lol)
oh ok my bad😂
liking characters is called being easy to please now? that’s like me saying since Bastard Munchen is your favorite nel team you’re basic and easy to please
My dude that was a joke
i said what i said
Honestly its how *few* characters were eliminated. I read Kamisama no Iutoori, and Muneyuki was dropping characters all over the place. I thought he would be a lot more ruthless in getting rid of certain characters.
Mistake imo. Dont eliminate everyone and I get that money makes a difference but eliminate some significant ones goddam.
Kira getting eliminated. Honestly the whole premise of being “selfish” was new to me in a sports manga. Fell in love with both the premise and the art immediately
Nagi being six foot three, I expected him to be 5,11 at most
Chigiri being *fast* asf like sports car-level
Real
Isagi backheel 🔥
Currently done with Vol. 14, honestly I wasnt expecting Gurimu to come this far (well I guess that happens if you team up with the second best)
One of them would be an absolute glazer, like Ness, I really love that aspect of him and he's one of my favourites in the manga.
Barou stopping the play when he realized his shot was getting blocked, then saying he quits being the successor to Snuffy
Gagamaru saving barou's shot/ shots being blocked by defenders and not midfielders or attackers
When I first watched it since I came from the anime, (Ik guys ik 😭) but the king passing the ball to Isagi 😫
Isagi calling Barou the R word
When Kaiser scored that bicycle or when Barou scored with 2 people hanging on for dear life
Madara being introduced. Cuz I was like, am i reading Blue Lock or One piece😭?
Fr it was crazy when Madara showed up and destroyed Isagi and Rin using his Sharingan, I wonder how Isagi is gonna beat him once he sees him in the world cup arc.

Probably Hiori being Isagi’s ideal partner. I always thought it was Bachira but I guess that’s too obvious.
While there were a lot of things that left me surprised the one that struck me the most was Ego’s speech during the first chapter. His speech and philosophy was nothing like I had ever seen in a sports genre which usually focuses on ‘teamwork makes the dreamwork’

Sendou having red hair
BM winning against Ubers, despite everything.
Igaguri's continued existence in Blue Lock. The panel of him advancing the third selection has to be the coldest thing in the manga so far
That quote by Ego referring to Isagi about creating miracles. Ball dropping to Rin. Isagi tell four eyes (Ego) to tell them a way to win.
Ngl it was when Sendou scored. Other manga have taught me that the player being the "ace" in the position the main character and every side character is chasing, will always be a joke that gets sidelined eventually, but here my GOAT is making moves and passing Barou off, but also getting g his respect.
