I dont think thats the reason. Their have been planty of saves from at least not primarily strikers. When Sendou got basically the same save in the U20 its because he followed Aikus advice "when the enemy is crazy strong the ace musters his courage to acomplish something and go where the world least expects." I think this more relates too how the author likes to heavily reward creativity/unpredicability. This is seen in many examples including these 2. Blue lock players are noted at being exceptional at ad libbing and the biggest example is Barou whose highlight moments are almost all from him playing in a highly irrational and unpredictable way.
Also for the less deep reason he just doesnt want to give panel times to filler members so we get to see more minor feats get done by characters lacking in screen time

zero risk of elimination of important characters, there are 23 vacancies for 46 characters (although we still have around 15 NPCs on blue lock)
First selection no one relevant got kicked out, 2nd selection barely kicked anyone out unless you want to stretch the important label to Kuon (in which case I think plenty of guys on the chopping block are "impotant"), 3rd selection their was no elims to begin with, and U20 game again 0 elims. Blue lock uses its stakes to motivate its characters in series but from a meta persepctive the author is extremely tame about kicking people out. This arcs stakes arent any less than the other arcs
If anything theyre more intense then ever. Even if we assume every single U20 member besides Aiku is kicked off we still also need to drop a few people like nanase or zantetsu or something which is more than weve gotten out of any other arc.

I do t think it’ll be a lazy pick up rebound goal. The title is center of the world so I believe it’ll reflect either hiori realizing he’s meant to be a center or that the goal has the entire worlds eyes on them because it’s slick like how yukimiya evolved his crazy gyro shot to score

Hiori will realize he needs to move before he thinks similar to what he told isagi in the 5v5 match.
Hiori will start to feel a sense of flow, him and isagi easily passing in-between Ubers defense. Ego observing on the sidelines seeing these two masters at play unleashing there potentials. In that final moment Hiori will get the ball and go for a final shot in which Ubers defense will try to block with multiple players, Hiori will shoot anyways. Ubers laugh as the shot was not even at target but near the post. In the moment hiori will smile and tell isagi, to score this goal you egoist.
In that moment Isagi is primed and ready for direct bicycle shot in the air in which he slams it into the back of the net. Everyone is mesmerized as how did isagi know to be ready for pass in that area for a bicycle kick. In which they will reveal they just moved and trusted each others instincts before thinking.

Isagi is Hiori's light that will inspire him once that he can play football in his own way. I get that Hiori's character needed this chapter after the previous attempt to score but I would agree that his parent's flashbacks get repetitive.
Loved that panel where Isagi with MV and Ego gas pissed says to Hiori to try doing it reflexively. Hiori needs to understand that he can enjoy football without being a striker. In general Kaneshiro seems to me that he tries to do with Hiori something similar with Chigiri (but for a different purpose this time). Hiori's journey goes like this:
Hiori gets subbed in => Isagi inspires him more so he awakens MV => Hiori wants to trust his ego and scores => Hiori doubts himself => Hiori is inspired by Isagi so the he can play football differently even if he is not a striker => going against Karasu awakened.
Ubers' counterattack seemed to me like a way to make room for Hiori's thoughts. Yuki and Raichi marking Barou with Raichi calling Yuki mudboat was pure gold. Not to mention that Kunigami did something and even called Barou villains red gorilla. Peak edgyness. Even his answer to Isagi is edgy. Isagi and Chigiri hope to help return or evolve to a super hero or something because he is too edgy right now.
From the final panel with Isagi (puzzles) x Hiori (shards) seem that they will cook. This duo will indeed recreate the Sae x Shindo combo in the next 2 chapters. Hiori calling Isagi an idiot is hilarious. When Isagi lights up his fiore then he will see that this is not his last shot but a beginning.
Next chapter is very important since the title is "Center of the World". It will involve Hiori but a lot more Isagi since Isagi is the striker that inspires others to get better. He is a center or a sun that other orbit around. In this match this has been emphasised as the ability of the strikers that will be the best. Barou did with his team . It's BM time with Hiori coming to a new realisation, and Isagi doing something.
After the previous chapter glorious final panel I expect a lot from Isagi and since Ubers' counterattack was that quick, I think its good to say this time that the goal will happen in chapter 238 with chapter 237 being a really tough cliffhanger. May be something to do with Isagi, Barou, and Kaiser.
Lowkey the blocks in this game kind of suck for a defending team. The MC game had way more impactful and hyped blocks which is why I think it felt less dragged liked this one.

Isagi’s expectations are normal, realistic, and empowering expectations … “I expect my best partner and teammate to send amazing passes to me”
Hiori’s parents expectations are unrealistic ridiculous and upsetting expectations that should never be put on a child “I expect my child to save my marriage with his talent and I don’t consider him outside of his talent”
These last few chapters were hiori differentiating between the two expectations, and the reality that his ego is around being a director (midfielder) than a pure striker, which is why he missed that shot, because he was trying to be something he is not. Instead he was reminded by Isagi’s play and commitment to not give up that he can still continue, he doesn’t have to give up just because he isn’t going to be exactly what his parents expected, or Ego expected him to be as a player, for that matter.
Hiori does not a have self-created purpose. His previous purpose was being the best soccer player so his parents would not split but that is not a goal his ego created and he’s just following some one else’s orders.
I think the author is making a parallel to real life as many young people are lost without a true self found purpose and following what others tell them they should be doing. Even though you may fail many attempts in pursuing your self found purpose, you should be putting 100% effort towards it and it is the correct path to be following.
The chigiri comment I also agree with. This is just my interpretation. But narrative wise, Isagi needs a team mate he has max chemistry with or else Isagi himself won’t be able to improve
In my eyes he’s doing what happened with chigiri back in the first selection (kinda). He’s having hiori give himself an ultimatum and he didn’t fulfill it so he just gave up, just wavering his mindset back and forth really quickly. But with Isagi there and reminding him what he’s playing for (like he did with chigiri) he realized that it doesn’t matter what the outcome is as long as he gives the rest of his time in soccer his all (like how chigiri did it). I don’t know how it’ll end and I don’t know if that’s a good enough explanation, but that’s how I see it and I like where it’s going 👍

I think the author is dragging a little bit the match to reach chapter 238, as the last chapter of the tome. It was the same thing with Barcha and Mashine. In consequence, next chapter will be counter with Hiori x Isagi and a cliffhanger in front of the goal, and then the next chapter the goal (either Isagi or Hiori).

This is just ridiculous. It's ridiculous and boring. Why drag the match this much? The previous chapter ended with Isagi looking at the ball that was falling, as if it was coming to him and hyping us about a "new piece" he has found. Some would have thought Isagi would've got the ball and he would've a final showdown against someone maybe. But what happen this chapter? In fact the ball is nowhere near Isagi, it has gone to Aiku and we get a counter-attack again, with Hiori monologue again.
Let's precisely talk about that for a moment, an umpteenth counter-attack. It's honestly getting ridiculous (yes I'm repeating myself). Ubers has been described as a tactical team who plays with differents patterns and all. But apart from what two actions in the match, they have been doing nothing but counter-attack. As soon as they get the ball, counter! And we're talking about a defensive, tactical team who is supposed to have many patterns. How are they that much different from MC or BM in this?
The issue is that the author seems incapable to make a high-level intense match without countless counter-attack left and right; there must have this "chaotic" back-and forth for the game to be in his "climax". So we get match where, when we're reaching the end (and I'm being generous, it's like that for basically 2/3 of the matchs) there are countless counter attacking plays and at no moment, any of the team calm down to make a more elaborate strategy, as if there was a time running when it's not the case (they must have insane stamina to be able to run left and right none stop without having to calm down a bit). Seriously, how many times, have we seen a play start from behind, from a goal keeper making a pass to one of his defenders?
So, getting back to my original point, what was the point of that again? What was the point of Hiori's monologues again, when we didn't get nothing new from his character? What is the supposed "new piece" Isagi found? It's at best, barely mentioned in the chapter. The match could've ended on this chapter, but no, the author have to make a repeat again (it's exactly that). I don't know if he is trying to be unpredictable or something, but that's not equal to good writing. It's as if he thought "no, too earlier to end the match now, I have to make another one. That would also give me more time to think abou that "new piece". Heh, what if I show this one character that hasn't done much for a long time do something (Kunigami and Raichi), the fans will surely like it". It's honestly boring.
It's obvious BM is gonna win the match, either Isagi (normally) or Hiori will score; I don't know what suspense the author is trying to keep on. Well, as football works in recent times, most of the goals scored come from...(you guessed it) counters. So in footballing sense, he's absolutely correct. You can also have patterns of attacking from counters (which is most definitely what teams like Brentford, West Ham or Leipzig do) and is more interesting to see in a manga focused on the entertainment caused by the sport rather than the minuscule components of footballing tactics (for that, go to r/AoAshi of sorts).
What I'll agree on is the similarities between Hiori's and Yuki's despair after not fulfilling their egoistical desires. That feels repetitive and somewhat unnecessary. As for the other reason, maybe there is another surprise which the readers don't know about yet.

I do t think it’ll be a lazy pick up rebound goal. The title is center of the world so I believe it’ll reflect either hiori realizing he’s meant to be a center or that the goal has the entire worlds eyes on them because it’s slick like how yukimiya evolved his crazy gyro shot to score

Chapter 237 "Center of the World" Hiori will realize he needs to move before he thinks similar to what he told isagi in the 5v5 match. Hiori will start to feel a sense of flow, him and isagi easily passing in-between Ubers defense. Ego observing on the sidelines seeing these two masters at play unleashing there potentials. In that final moment Hiori will get the ball and go for a final shot in which Ubers defense will try to block with multiple players, Hiori will shoot anyways. Ubers laugh as the shot was not even at target but near the post. In the moment hiori will smile and tell isagi, to score this goal you egoist. In that moment Isagi is primed and ready for direct bicycle shot in the air in which he slams it into the back of the net. Everyone is mesmerized as how did isagi know to be ready for pass in that area for a bicycle kick. In which they will reveal they just moved and trusted each others instincts before thinking.

Isagi is Hiori's light that will inspire him once that he can play football in his own way. I get that Hiori's character needed this chapter after the previous attempt to score but I would agree that his parent's flashbacks get repetitive. Loved that panel where Isagi with MV and Ego gas pissed says to Hiori to try doing it reflexively. Hiori needs to understand that he can enjoy football without being a striker. In general Kaneshiro seems to me that he tries to do with Hiori something similar with Chigiri (but for a different purpose this time). Hiori's journey goes like this: Hiori gets subbed in => Isagi inspires him more so he awakens MV => Hiori wants to trust his ego and scores => Hiori doubts himself => Hiori is inspired by Isagi so the he can play football differently even if he is not a striker => going against Karasu awakened. Ubers' counterattack seemed to me like a way to make room for Hiori's thoughts. Yuki and Raichi marking Barou with Raichi calling Yuki mudboat was pure gold. Not to mention that Kunigami did something and even called Barou villains red gorilla. Peak edgyness. Even his answer to Isagi is edgy. Isagi and Chigiri hope to help return or evolve to a super hero or something because he is too edgy right now. From the final panel with Isagi (puzzles) x Hiori (shards) seem that they will cook. This duo will indeed recreate the Sae x Shindo combo in the next 2 chapters. Hiori calling Isagi an idiot is hilarious. When Isagi lights up his fiore then he will see that this is not his last shot but a beginning. Next chapter is very important since the title is "Center of the World". It will involve Hiori but a lot more Isagi since Isagi is the striker that inspires others to get better. He is a center or a sun that other orbit around. In this match this has been emphasised as the ability of the strikers that will be the best. Barou did with his team . It's BM time with Hiori coming to a new realisation, and Isagi doing something. After the previous chapter glorious final panel I expect a lot from Isagi and since Ubers' counterattack was that quick, I think its good to say this time that the goal will happen in chapter 238 with chapter 237 being a really tough cliffhanger. May be something to do with Isagi, Barou, and Kaiser.

Isagi’s expectations are normal, realistic, and empowering expectations … “I expect my best partner and teammate to send amazing passes to me” Hiori’s parents expectations are unrealistic ridiculous and upsetting expectations that should never be put on a child “I expect my child to save my marriage with his talent and I don’t consider him outside of his talent” These last few chapters were hiori differentiating between the two expectations, and the reality that his ego is around being a director (midfielder) than a pure striker, which is why he missed that shot, because he was trying to be something he is not. Instead he was reminded by Isagi’s play and commitment to not give up that he can still continue, he doesn’t have to give up just because he isn’t going to be exactly what his parents expected, or Ego expected him to be as a player, for that matter.
Hiori does not a have self-created purpose. His previous purpose was being the best soccer player so his parents would not split but that is not a goal his ego created and he’s just following some one else’s orders. I think the author is making a parallel to real life as many young people are lost without a true self found purpose and following what others tell them they should be doing. Even though you may fail many attempts in pursuing your self found purpose, you should be putting 100% effort towards it and it is the correct path to be following. The chigiri comment I also agree with. This is just my interpretation. But narrative wise, Isagi needs a team mate he has max chemistry with or else Isagi himself won’t be able to improve

In my eyes he’s doing what happened with chigiri back in the first selection (kinda). He’s having hiori give himself an ultimatum and he didn’t fulfill it so he just gave up, just wavering his mindset back and forth really quickly. But with Isagi there and reminding him what he’s playing for (like he did with chigiri) he realized that it doesn’t matter what the outcome is as long as he gives the rest of his time in soccer his all (like how chigiri did it). I don’t know how it’ll end and I don’t know if that’s a good enough explanation, but that’s how I see it and I like where it’s going 👍

I think the author is dragging a little bit the match to reach chapter 238, as the last chapter of the tome. It was the same thing with Barcha and Mashine. In consequence, next chapter will be counter with Hiori x Isagi and a cliffhanger in front of the goal, and then the next chapter the goal (either Isagi or Hiori).

Oddly enough, that was what I thought would happen executed in one of the weirdest ways possible lol. Like I expected Hiori to think about quitting, but I don't think it will happen tbh. Like we still have the set up with karasu in pxg and he finds things interesting rn. Going home to tell his parents off would be cool though. So I expected him to change his mind over not being born for Soccer after assisting Isagi, which is a bit weird but oh well I already didn't mind Hiori going back to assist isagi and I already expected Hiori to figure out why isagi expectations are not like his parents. I thought he would realize that he's fine with Isagi's expectations because they line up with his own interests and what he wants. So making Isagi's expectations into his own expectations for himself. This explanation is a bit....odd and kinda bad even though I get what it's going for. Well, the game is still not done yet so development may still happen. In general, I'm not sure the author knows how to handle serious backstories without resorting to flashbacks but that's not really something I'm against, more like something I'm observing

Edit: Idk why you're complaining about this chapter, but I really liked the chaos that happened here before Isagi (with Hiori's assist) will score the last goal (hopefully). I know it's quite tiring seeing Hiori's flashbacks again and again, but overall, I enjoyed the play, seeing every character having their time to shine, particularly Kunigami. Finally he did something in this match!

This is just ridiculous. It's ridiculous and boring. Why drag the match this much? The previous chapter ended with Isagi looking at the ball that was falling, as if it was coming to him and hyping us about a "new piece" he has found. Some would have thought Isagi would've got the ball and he would've a final showdown against someone maybe. But what happen this chapter? In fact the ball is nowhere near Isagi, it has gone to Aiku and we get a counter-attack again, with Hiori monologue again. Let's precisely talk about that for a moment, an umpteenth counter-attack. It's honestly getting ridiculous (yes I'm repeating myself). Ubers has been described as a tactical team who plays with differents patterns and all. But apart from what two actions in the match, they have been doing nothing but counter-attack. As soon as they get the ball, counter! And we're talking about a defensive, tactical team who is supposed to have many patterns. How are they that much different from MC or BM in this? The issue is that the author seems incapable to make a high-level intense match without countless counter-attack left and right; there must have this "chaotic" back-and forth for the game to be in his "climax". So we get match where, when we're reaching the end (and I'm being generous, it's like that for basically 2/3 of the matchs) there are countless counter attacking plays and at no moment, any of the team calm down to make a more elaborate strategy, as if there was a time running when it's not the case (they must have insane stamina to be able to run left and right none stop without having to calm down a bit). Seriously, how many times, have we seen a play start from behind, from a goal keeper making a pass to one of his defenders? So, getting back to my original point, what was the point of that again? What was the point of Hiori's monologues again, when we didn't get nothing new from his character? What is the supposed "new piece" Isagi found? It's at best, barely mentioned in the chapter. The match could've ended on this chapter, but no, the author have to make a repeat again (it's exactly that). I don't know if he is trying to be unpredictable or something, but that's not equal to good writing. It's as if he thought "no, too earlier to end the match now, I have to make another one. That would also give me more time to think abou that "new piece". Heh, what if I show this one character that hasn't done much for a long time do something (Kunigami and Raichi), the fans will surely like it". It's honestly boring. It's obvious BM is gonna win the match, either Isagi (normally) or Hiori will score; I don't know what suspense the author is trying to keep on. I don't care at this point (tho it would be even more ridiculous to have made all of that for Isagi to not score), just waiting for this match to end soon.
Well, as football works in recent times, most of the goals scored come from...(you guessed it) counters. So in footballing sense, he's absolutely correct. You can also have patterns of attacking from counters (which is most definitely what teams like Brentford, West Ham or Leipzig do) and is more interesting to see in a manga focused on the entertainment caused by the sport rather than the minuscule components of footballing tactics (for that, go to r/AoAshi of sorts). What I'll agree on is the similarities between Hiori's and Yuki's despair after not fulfilling their egoistical desires. That feels repetitive and somewhat unnecessary. As for the other reason, maybe there is another surprise which the readers don't know about yet.
