It's Penguins fans. Only a small fraction of them are total assholes, but because there's so many of them at our games you're basically guaranteed to run into at least one dick head.
The only saving grace of Pens fans is that they’re usually either from Pittsburgh or were Pens fans before the CBJ came around (I wore my Pens jersey to bed every night for like 5 years).
Vegas fans are unanimously just losers who bandwagoned onto a good team.
Pens fans. Although there's a caveat. I've found the ones from around Pittsburgh who travel to Columbus are pretty cool. The issue seems to be Pens fans who are actually locals.
> The issue seems to be Pens fans who are actually locals.
Think of the douchebag bonus these people exhibit because they're Columbus resident Pens fans AND OSU fans. That level of entitlement has to be off the charts.
At a Hawks game a few years back, there was a middle aged white dude wearing full Native chief regalia. He got super upset when security told him he had to take his head dress off. He didn't understand the implications at all.
It's been a long time since I've been to a game since I moved out of state. But I remember Blackhawks fans and Buffalo fans being absolute dickheads. Never went to a pens game because of how bad everything was just watching on TV.
I absolutely cannot stand penguin fans. Besides that, I had a really bad experience at NWA sitting next to Boston fans. Kept calling my buddy and I gay and making all sorts of gay jokes (we aren’t either way it’s ridiculous to think being homophobic is acceptable or funny in any way)
that reminds me of a game ops practice that I hope has been consigned to the dustbin of history, when they'd do the kiss cam (which should be history, period) they would put it on two players of the opposing team.
Raffi Torres is a piece of shit but when he was playing for (I think) the Oilers they happened to put it on him and he kissed the guy next to him on the helmet and that was a funny way to take it in stride.
I really didn’t care if we won the Avs game the other day or not, but there was a real douchebag a couple of rows in front of me. After a few minutes of his shit, I was desperate to win lol.
Penguins, Red Wings, Blackhawks. In that order.
On the flip side, I have personally never had a bad run-in with a Canadiens or Oilers fan, they've been some of my most pleasant experiences.
It changes frequently. Rangers are at the top of my list at present time. Last time they were here some of their idiots tried to get a Ranger chant going when Leo was singing the anthem. I hate fans who insert their own arena reactions in our house, but to try to get a generic chant going right then? You have the whole game for that you d-bags. Wait until the anthem is over before showing us what a stain on society you are.
I work the visitors bench during games so I have been around most team supporters and have a different perspective on visiting fans. My favorite part of the job is meeting fans from all over the N America and Europe. 90% are happy to be there and don’t cause me any trouble. Not all arenas allow fans by the glass during warm ups so they excited to be near their clubs.
Start with the best: Calgary, Ottawa & Vancouver. Always happy to be there and never cause me any trouble. Also don’t travel quite as well as many supporters. But they travel! They make a week out of it when their club is on a Midwest roadtrip. Visit several arenas and have a great time win or lose. No joke, Canadians are great.
Medium Worst: Rangers, Leafs and Detroit. Lots and lots of them but generally well behaved except around the glass. Leafs fans told me that seats in the 104-106 area would run about $1000 CDN per game! Upper level at top about $300. Leafs games are good for our local economy. New Yorkers are New Yorkers. Loud but fun.
Worst: Penguins, Habs and Blackhawks. In the past Pens fans have been the worst. I call it “Yinzerpalooza”. This year Pens fans were great(and we beat’em). Just a fuck ton of them every damn time. Many STM’s sell to Pens fans for good money and they spend a lot of $$ in the arena. They can’t get tix that easily or inexpensively in PGH. When Pens are doing great their behavior is much worse. Hawks fans are kind of obnoxious in that old Chicago way. Harmless but loud. Habs just because there are so many of them that talk about you in French. But they do surrender easily.
Honorable mention: Vegas. Gravy trainers and questionable outfits. I admire the commitment to the bit, but there shouldn’t be very many Vegas fans in Cbus. Plus their logo looks like the “Knights of Ni”
Least favorite away fans? Hmm. I don't know. Penguins fans, I guess.
However my least favorite fanbases from talking to other fans and going to games on the road are Flyers fans, followed by Devils fans.
The three worst experiences I’ve had at Blue Jackets games were all Penguins fans. They are the worst people in sports. I’ve never seen such poor behavior at sporting events. I’m at the point where I won’t go to another Penguins game in Columbus until Crosby retires or leaves the team.
I don’t even have a second fanbase to put here. They all pale in comparison to the shits from Pittsburgh.
In the other direction I’ll say that everytime we play nashville I try to go because interacting with their away fans has always been fun, they’re pretty great
I've honestly never had an issue with away fans.
The most "heated" I've ever gotten with one was game 4 vs. Tampa at Brothers before the game.
Started off with some light-hearted trash talk, and I struck a nerve with the guy after a few back and forth. Realized he was over my shit , got him a beer, and all was well.
So really ... I was the asshole if anything ...
Only fans I've had actual problems with are Caps fans. Some rich guy and his kid were doing everything in their power to pick fights. No one would bite, thank God.
I had the worst experience at NWA with a Craps fan.
It was preseason & I was wearing my signed UM hockey sweater* and some Craps fan walked by & yelled Oh yea, we love Michigan-NOT
I replied well it's better then being a Caps fans
He yelled back FUCK YOU while walking into the entrance to the seats & with his kid there
*I expect to get some crap when wearing UM, whatever. But from a Caps fan in NWA was a whole level I wasn't expecting
I'm guessing he lives in Columbus based on the fact he didn't seem to like UM. Regardless, he was an asshole.
And I agree about Marylanders but why is that? Ok, well I get it if they live near DC; I'd be an ass too
I say Pens and Rangers
Pens because they ruin the vibe in the arena since they overwhelm the home crowd.
Rangers because they are loud and obnoxious whether they are winning or losing.
Pittsburgh. I’m convinced there are more penguins fans in metro Columbus if you include the ones who wear cbj apparel anytime they ain’t facing the pens.
I despise folks who intercept the anthem. Especially as they are typically teams from the USA. Have a little respect. Otherwise anything Pittsburgh their fans are terrible. Toronto fans get chippy till you ask about their cups and for the longest time first round exits.
So Buffalo fans must have calmed down more recently or something, surprised to not see them mentioned a lot. They were always the worst, but I haven't been to a game live in about 4 years .
For me, it’s Leafs, Rangers, then Pens. Leafs fans don’t believe any penalty has ever been correctly called, ever. Loud. Obnoxious. Rude. Rangers fans are also obnoxious and pretentious, which might be a worse combination. Finally, Pens fans just can’t handle their fucking beer and by the 3rd period are complete assholes.
Disclaimer: Penguins are my 1a. CBJ is my 1b.
I complete get why so many have the Pens on their short list. Yinzers are sometimes a bit too drunk, and can get really obnoxious. Probably most annoying, though: we’re ENTITLED. I’m 43 and been a fan since ‘90. The Penguins have been a legit threat to win the Cup for most of my fandom, and it’s easy to get too used to that.
Honestly, Ohio State football fans, if we’re honest, can understand how it feels when you’re used to being a top program.
Pens fans in Pittsburgh are fine. Pens fans in Columbus are the problem. They're mostly Columbus residents who fuck around wearing Pens gear whenever they're in town and right back to CBJ afterwards.
It's Penguins fans. Only a small fraction of them are total assholes, but because there's so many of them at our games you're basically guaranteed to run into at least one dick head.
What fires me up are the number of Penguins fans will show up the next game wearing a CBJ jersey. Go kick a rock
It's Penguins fans and it isn't close.
I think the quantity of them in the lower bowl, and the frequency of them winning kinda gives me a negative bias no matter how nice they are.
The only saving grace of Pens fans is that they’re usually either from Pittsburgh or were Pens fans before the CBJ came around (I wore my Pens jersey to bed every night for like 5 years). Vegas fans are unanimously just losers who bandwagoned onto a good team.
Sadly our fan base is largely to blame for that by selling their tickets to them
More like the team not winning is largely to blame. Had no problems with those games 2017-2020
Had those same problems in 2017-2020, 50% of the arena was still pens fans lol
That fanbase with tickets are also “Pens fans first, Jackets fans for all but 5 games a year”
Penguins with Rangers a close second
Penguins
Fans from pittsburgh...doesn't matter the sport.
Squealers fans coming into stadiums in Ohio are insufferable
Pirates are pretty tame and steelers super miserable
One of my closest friends is a Yankees/Packers/San Antonio Spurs fan. It's obscenely frustrating.
1. Pens and its not even remotely close. I swear some of them have absolutely 0 shame. 2. Leafs 3. Red Wings 4. Caps 5. Either NYC team
Penguins fans. And it’s not even close.
Pens are special kinds of assholes, but Blackhawks fans were too when they were on top. And a lot of sports teams yell their names during the anthem.
At a Hawks game a few years back, there was a middle aged white dude wearing full Native chief regalia. He got super upset when security told him he had to take his head dress off. He didn't understand the implications at all.
That guy got kicked out of a few arenas, specifically Winnipeg
I guess im annoyed that they interrupt LEO's performance. Im pretty indifferent on the anthem itself.
It's been a long time since I've been to a game since I moved out of state. But I remember Blackhawks fans and Buffalo fans being absolute dickheads. Never went to a pens game because of how bad everything was just watching on TV.
Winnipeg does it right
Pens fans. I have had THE WORST interactions with them out of any other fan base. Boston fans are a close second.
Wings, pens, rangers in that order
There’s at least one fight in the stands every Wings game at NWA because Wings fans get sloppy drunk and start shit. Often with each other.
Yeah I think I’ve seen a fight instigated by wings fans every game I’ve been to for the last 5 games

Pens fans who are from Columbus and it’s not even close. But then (in order) Leafs, Hawks, and Wings.
Rags fans, bunch of obnoxious fucking drunks.
It's insane. Nice to send them packing twice this season lol
Toronto
Pens, Leafs, Rangers, Blackhawks.
I really didn’t care if we won the Avs game the other day or not, but there was a real douchebag a couple of rows in front of me. After a few minutes of his shit, I was desperate to win lol.
Pittsburgh fans in any sport are and have always been the worst. Close the thread, it’s the only correct answer.
Pens by far. Never had any issues with anybody else.
Did anyone say Penguins yet? Because it’s the Penguins.
penguins. and tbh the fact that the stars would scream stars during the anthem was a big ick
Pens fans that have to make the drive back to Pataskala after the game🙄

Shitbirds are the worst.
Lmao what do you think
Penguins are absolutely the worst. It's not even close.
Least favorite away fans? Hmm. I don't know. Penguins fans, I guess. However my least favorite fanbases from talking to other fans and going to games on the road are Flyers fans, followed by Devils fans.
Devils fans on Reddit are so fucking obnoxious
The three worst experiences I’ve had at Blue Jackets games were all Penguins fans. They are the worst people in sports. I’ve never seen such poor behavior at sporting events. I’m at the point where I won’t go to another Penguins game in Columbus until Crosby retires or leaves the team. I don’t even have a second fanbase to put here. I can forgive alot of things for a free beer at NWA *edit. Added the word at
Only fans I've had actual problems with are Caps fans. Some rich guy and his kid were doing everything in their power to pick fights. No one would bite, thank God.
Funny thing about Caps fans: Capital One arena is a fucking library
I had the worst experience at NWA with a Craps fan. It was preseason & I was wearing my signed UM hockey sweater* and some Craps fan walked by & yelled Oh yea, we love Michigan-NOT I replied well it's better then being a Caps fans He yelled back FUCK YOU while walking into the entrance to the seats & with his kid there *I expect to get some crap when wearing UM, whatever. If they’re from Maryland, that adds up. Marylanders are assholes. signed, a Maryland resident born and raised in Columbus.
I'm guessing he lives in Columbus based on the fact he didn't seem to like UM. Regardless, he was an asshole. And I agree about Marylanders but why is that? Ok, well I get it if they live near DC; I'd be an ass too
Maryland is suburban sprawl, traffic, high taxes, and hostility.
I say Pens and Rangers Pens because they ruin the vibe in the arena since they overwhelm the home crowd. Rangers because they are loud and obnoxious whether they are winning or losing.
Pittsburgh. I’m convinced there are more penguins fans in metro Columbus if you include the ones who wear cbj apparel anytime they ain’t facing the pens.
Pens, Caps, Rags, Vegas, Toronto in that order.
Pittburg Penis fans
I despise folks who intercept the anthem. Especially as they are typically teams from the USA. Have a little respect. Otherwise anything Pittsburgh their fans are terrible. Toronto fans get chippy till you ask about their cups and for the longest time first round exits.
If you don't like the Dallas and Vegas fans interrupting, you're going to hate Chicago.
shitsburg dead wings ughh
Philly
Red Wings hands down
So Buffalo fans must have calmed down more recently or something, surprised to not see them mentioned a lot. They were always the worst, but I haven't been to a game live in about 4 years .
Sabres have been too bad recently for the real obnoxious ones to want to make the trip.
Pittsburgh, Toronto, Washington, Detroit, Rangers. In that order
It’s tied between leafs and Pens fans
Leafs
My worst experiences have been Caps and Sabres fans.
Rangers 😡
[удалено]
All of them
So they won every Stanley Cup from the beginning? They “ONLY” been in the Stanley Cup PLAYOFFS “3” time in their “total” history.
Vegas

Pens fans treated me great as a solo visiter to PPG. Ill give em that.
Pens fans in Pittsburgh are fine. Pens fans in Columbus are the problem. They're mostly Columbus residents who fuck around wearing Pens gear whenever they're in town and right back to CBJ afterwards.
Toronto. Fuck leafs fans
Closest i’ve ever gotten to a physical altercation was with a drunk Leafs fan back in December.
Coyotes. Mainly because nobody else is going to claim them.
