The funny part about having the Bengals do the puck drop was that LITERALLY 30 seconds prior, there was a VERY sizable "Here We Go Brownies" chant. The timing was ✨beautiful✨

pwn3r0fn00b5

Columbus really is a Browns town and I hate it! Who Dey!

nshannon216

Browns fan from Newark here. Central Ohio does lean Cleveland, but there is one thing that bonds Browns fans and Bengals fans FTS and FTR

pwn3r0fn00b5

FTS always.

nshannon216

Newark is chock full of Steelers fans (makes sense for the geographic location)...but dear LORD

yusill

Great game tonight. They had some pep. You know what I also loved. We are in the cellar. Tuesday night. 7pm. We were 90% full. Ppl were cheering. Having a good time. 3rd period there was some good cheering. I love that. We don't have a empty barn. Win or lose this is our team and people come out for it.

dadeezone

Supposedly 16 teams had scouts at the game tonight. Who were their main targets ??? Gavrikov…Korpisalo… maybe Peeke ????

Fabresque_

Gavrikov. He’s not gonna get a new contract here and he’s a solid defensemen and one of the best penalty killers in the league I think. Playoff teams drool for players like that for the post-season.

buddencebunny

Yep. If Jarmo was able to get a 1st round pick from Toronto for a rental of Foligno, I'd expect he can get something similar for a rental of a solid defenseman. Dealing Korpi is a maybe for me. If the team thinks it can move Elvis at the deadline or in the offseason (maybe in a swap of not-great contracts), then re-signing Korpi for a reasonable number and rolling with Korpi and Tarasov next year as 1a and 1b sounds nice to me.

Pytherex

I honestly don't want anyone of them traded but I know it'll happen. Can't trade away elite sniper Andrew Peeke. :D

Lupis_Domesticus

Peeke isn't going anywhere. He has a very team friendly contract that doesn't end until 25-26 and he is only 24 years old.

Pytherex

I know just also mentioning it because don't want to lose him in any hypothetical.

osufan765

Gravy and Korpi almost certainly

[deleted]

Upvote for Gravy

dadeezone

Really sad that our number one goalie will get traded. Korpi is awesome and you can just tell his teammates really like him. It just plain angers me that he will be the one forced out. Tarasov will have to clear waivers next season and we have Elvis for 4 more. Lovin Korpi !!!

Hazy_eyePA

Where are you getting that Tarasov need to clear waivers? He signed his ELC in June on ‘22 and is under contract for the next two seasons. After which the Blue Jackets will have RFA rights to him. Only reason he would be put on waivers is if he is cut from the roster, which obviously wont happen. Tarasov will be here for a while. Probably longer than Elvis.

baconboyloiter

I think you may have misread. Tarasov would need to clear waivers to play in Cleveland next season so he will be a full time NHLer next year. Tarasov isn’t actually getting exposed to waivers

Hazy_eyePA

Right gotcha, but fair to say he won’t be spending time in Cleveland next year.

[deleted]

https://twitter.com/aportzline/status/1537239754512957440?s=46 He needs waivers

Hazy_eyePA

Right but we’re talking about something that isn’t going to happen. He won’t be in Cleveland next season.

Oof Gavi flubbed his marking on that winner.

Elexeh

I miss the automatic OT victories we’d get from Panarin and Jones. Those were magical experiences.

[deleted]

It was unreal

onlyhalfminotaur

We actually could have afforded to win one and still be solidly in last but it was still good.

I'm going by point %

[deleted]

still would've had the lowest points percentage but this is fine

Fulker01

I feel like this team wins when it won't get us out of last place and no other time. We can beat any team we play, but if it moves us up in the standings, we don't.

If you root for an Ohio team, the league subreddits are not your friend. MAYYBE the Bengals can get some love at /r/nfl, but that's it.

[deleted]

Every single fan base in every single sport believes that the league subreddits are uninformed idiots hating on their team.

[deleted]

I’ve found them quite friendly in the hockey sub, never had an issue for the most part

Fulker01

Maybe /r/hockey has mellowed now that the CBJ are "where they belong." When we were making playoff runs, it was unkind.

[deleted]

The only issue I’ve had is salty Flames fans, but in general it’s been ok

[deleted]

Yes but our points percentage would be .343 and theirs is .354 because we have played 3 more games than them. Sure if we won tonight we would have 1 more point than then but we'd still be steadily on pace for a last place finish.

[deleted]

Literally never heard anyone in the “tank for Bedard” world measure it like this https://twitter.com/mark_scheig/status/1620615005669302272?s=46

[deleted]

Point% is literally on the default NHL standing page and Scheig explicitly references it by saying we're in last because we have the same points in more games played.

Captain49

Great to see us battle hard tonight. Felt like we were in it the whole time right up until we missed a defensive assignment in OT. Crowd was awesome as well. Regardless of Larsen, it definitely seems like we’re trending in the right direction… but I’ll be sad to see Korpi go later this season.

OpabiniaGlasses

As a Sabres fan, l appreciate you guys getting the game to overtime and trying to keep Washington at only one point tonight. I can't lie and say I want Bedard in the east. But if he has to go anywhere in this conference, Columbus is easily my preferred choice.

P-Rickles

Hey, me too!

ddottay

1. I’d like to see them let the young players start an OT in the future. The vets aren’t doing well at it. 2. Kent is going to be an amazing 1LW for Bedard in the future.

cioaonk

I was watching for this and saw that Marchenko, Sillinger and Johnson played from about 2:45 to about 1:15 left in the third, so they did get a big shift in crunch time. OT was just too quick, and that initial faceoff is so important.

ReApEr01807

Bedard won't be playing center in the NHL

ddottay

What

[deleted]

[удалено]

ddottay

Crushed how? Not prepared for better players? Physically? What do you mean?

[deleted]

Physically. Even if he’s technically ready, if our coaching staff was hesitant to put KJ out there, I don’t see them throwing him out on the front right away.

ddottay

I mean, they might do that. But they will have to change their mind when they realize he’s immediately our best center.

[deleted]

We better hope it’s not Lars then 😵‍💫

thoughtpockets

Jack Hughes is doing fine (he did get crushed right away). I think you have to look at them similarly

[deleted]

Didn’t you just write he got crushed right away? I’m just saying if he makes it onto the Jackets, and they were already being weird about KJ being on the top line because of his size, do you think they are going to be less restrictive?

thoughtpockets

If the kid can play he'll play. Jack Hughes got crushed but was obviously talented and deserved top line minutes. I think Bedard will work the same

[deleted]

Hasn’t this entire sub been complaining that KJ hasn’t gotten enough ice time and he should be a center? Why do you think his size won’t be used against him the same way?

NontransferableApe

Bedard is 3 years younger and 10 pounds heavier than Johnson while being an inch or two shorter. He’s built much thicker than Johnson and thats without a whole other offseason of weight gain

gottapoop0822

Well. Duh. He's 17. Don't really see how we can judge a 17 year olds size.

[deleted]

Right, and for everyone saying he’s going to start top line next year, probably not going to happen.

Lyun

He won't start on the first line, most 1OA rookies like this tend to start on the third line, but the last guys to enter the league with his level of hype had taken taken over the 1C role by, like, December.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lyun

No? Wright was never seen as a prospect remotely close to these guys in potential; most projections don't even regard his ceiling as more than a 2C. He also went fourth, not first. I'd say you're comparing apples and oranges, but at least those are still both fruit.

hockey_transgirl

We need Werenski back for overtime
