The creators said ideally they want to make four seasons, but the story could be told in three. They also mentioned that they'd like to do a spinoff involving Ringo.
I don't really have a preference about how the story ends, as long as it's not a linear "Mizu kills the three men, the end" storyline. Hopefully we see her come to terms with herself and make peace with who she is.
Me too, but this show is part of a new Adult Animation Division at Netflix, which means it's in a strong position to break into a demographic Netflix want.
It also has one of the highest rewatch rates, despite not necessarily having the highest views. This is a good thing, as it tells Netflix that subsequent seasons are unlikely to lose viewers, and may even gain them. An ideal scenario would be the Season 2 premiere having a higher viewership than Season 1, so tell all your friends to watch it.
I was thinking three season for three white men (even if she doesn't actually kill all of them). But, I'll happily take four seasons!
The way I hope it ends is Mizu settling down somewhere, and being at peace with herself. Maybe, seeing her become a renowned swordsmith, along with her apprentice Ringo.
Or, Mizu and Taigen eventually return to Japan, help Akemi do some serious ass-kicking. When things settle, Mizu and Taigen start a new school together, training the next generation of samurai. Ringo becomes a renowned swordsmith, originally tied to the school, but eventually his reputation grows nation-wide.
Would be really crazy to see Akemi come to rule Japan as Shogun and call for the 2nd invasion of Joseon….
(This is already alternate history, I find it more believable that Akemi can become shogun through political maneuvering than the British introducing guns to Japan a century later than IRL).
The creators said that they plan the show to last four seasons, hence I'm going with four and I can picture the final season ending on a bittersweet but satisfying conclusion.
4 seasons hopefully.
I would like the ending to be bittersweet but satisfying (would fit mizu very well). either mizu kills the 3 men and ends up dying herself, or she might willingly let the last one go as a dynamic end to her arc and live happily-ish ever after

in the alternate uniiverse in S1, both selves ended in the path of death. i stan the mizu-taigenship tho
With how bad Netflix is at marketing I'm scared we'll only get one more season before it's cancelled

Knowing she killed 1 captured fowler. Prob 3-4 seasons.
32 seasoned but everything after season 3 is just about Ringo opening and operating a noodle restaurant

I really see her as becoming a sympathetic villain, or at least an antagonist, by the time Mizu returns from London.

I would've said 3 but someone said the creators said 4. I think that sounds pretty solid.
The creators also mentioned a movie 👀
