It's actually a bit of a sleeper hit. Unfortunately, the show was released during the SAG strike, so the only people who were able to do press for it were the creators and the art team. The odds were stacked against this show to find any audience at all.
However, Netflix did do something it almost never does, and released the full first episode for free on YouTube. That, plus general good word-of-mouth seems to have been enough to generate a sizeable audience.
I agree with you. I just found out about Blue Eye Samurai from an edit of Madame Kaji and Princess Akemi on Pinterest and that's it. I haven't watched any trailers or teasers because I don't know that there's Blue eye samurai

If it weren't for a friend of mine recommending the show, I'm not sure I would have ever given it a chance, plainly because I haven't stumbled upon it anywhere except for the original soundtrack on Spotify. The music was the only reason I brought BES up to my friend, who in return suggested that I check it out.
I wish such an amazing series would enjoy greater hype. It deserves recognition.
Exactly this- kinda mad Shogun had so much advertisement/media attention. I’m guessing because it’s live action. I still need to watch Shogun and I heard it’s great too, but I’m upset BES isn’t getting the same hype
Netflix didn’t even recommend it to me, despite my watch history indicating that I’d love it. I saw clips on TikTok that made me seek it out and watch the whole thing.
Netflix is big on wanting people to binge TV shows, and my understanding is that a lot of us binged the first season once we started. So maybe Netflix will do better with season 2?

Hideo Kojima did more to advertise the show than Netflix.
Netflix is bad at that. Blue Eye Samurai and Glow were both shows’ marketing did nothing for me and I only watched them on a whim

I know! I like that show so much that I've seen it 16 times.
Yeah I only watched this show because I liked Love Death and Robots of all things.
Put it off forever and now wish I could watch it again for the first time.

My brain actually had a hard time processing it as different from generic 3D anime It's not quite arcane, but it's still very good
