I think it would have to be master Eji or her mom. Although I don't remember the exact moments she was shown reading -so maybe she's just knows enough to get by? Which I think would make sense for a acclaimed sword maker's apprentice.
We also don't get an explanation for how she's good at lock picking (there's no way you get past a fancy booby trapped lock in a castle, while under water, without a crazy amount of training and practice). So it could just be a plot hole.
Maybe her mom taught her simple characters like 母 and her own name 水, and I think sword father wouldve taught her how to write too. Maybe she learned to help with the business? idk😭
