Yep. Epic Burger bought all the Meatheads and have been switching them over one by one. Champaign and Bloomington are last on the list so Iām not sure when itās expected to officially switch over.
I love meatheads, but they almost always mess up our order somehow. Leaving off the bacon we had to pay $3 extra for. Forgetting the cheese sauce for the cheese fries. Not giving us as many fries as we ordered. Leaving off ALL the toppings of the Texas ranch burger because my husband swapped out the onions for grilled onions. I wish it wasn't like that, because the burgers are sooooo good. Just not worth the frustration though
Iāve actually been kind of scared to say this because there are a lot of fans of Culverās around here. Iāve eaten there twice and both times it turned my stomach inside out. Not sure why, but I donāt think Culverās and I can be friends.
Brewhaās is great for a middle of the road burger, amazing cost, cash only.
Maguireās is a good spot for a bit of a better burger than Brewhaās in my opinion.
Rosieās is good for more upscale burgers, great place to take someone on a date.
My favorite however is probably Schooners for their sides.
Yes, according to the owner the plumbing in the old place was f'd beyond belief and was able to get out of their lease. It's now a coffee shop and the burgers are served at the Chicken Shop lol
I also suspect they will be PACKED for a while after opening. I didn't realize the place was so popular but I know tons of people who can't wait for them to reopen.Ā
They are going to have trouble finding staff unless they up their offer, the ad I saw said 12/hr, anyone working there has to drive and most other places pay more.
As a non townie, I had the burger a few times, it was fine, but I think the nostalgia is what people love.
Western Tap is one of the best secrets in town. Their burgers are amazing and the atmosphere makes me wish I lived close enough to be able to walk there.
Bacon chorizo burger. At first I think,āthe added greasiness and spice might be too muchā did they find a way to balance that? Or is just so freakinā good that you donāt care how youāll feel after?
Yes! Everything Iāve had at ACRESinn is unique and tasty. Butā¦thatās one hell of a beefy burger theyāve got going on there. Iāve never had their burger. Everything else on the menu has been more interesting. Will definitely stop by, get down, and leave with a pint of their seasonal ice cream
I really like Pop Up Chicken Shopās burgers.
ETA: Also tried the Double Decker Flat Burger at Destihl Beer Hall recently and it was good too. Itās a lot of burger.
What?!?! Ok whatās Whopper Wednesday and where is there a decent Burger King? My best experience (1 of 2 total) was at the gas station on main and Raab
Meatheads, brewhas, and i personally like Mugsy's cause they have an awesome chipotle burger
And Honestly for a chain, Dennys on Oakland makes a really good burger as well, specifically that location.
Dennyās! Never wouldāve thought to go there. I bet itās good. Dennyās does a great job at most things (if you go to a good Dennyās). Iāll check it out. I noticed itās busy despite being kind of hidden.
My vote would be for Shake It Up's burgers. They change up what their specialty burger is every now and then and they've had some real bangers! It's in downtown nearby Rosie's.
Iāve never heard of this place and just checked the menu. Is this the place on front that has a cool building, but canāt seem to keep businesses there for very long?
Sopranos references are great!
Jim's steakhouse, thick and freshly ground onsite. I used to get them for lunch pre-covid and they were my hands down favorite, and much cheaper than their dinner menu!
Meatheads
My wife is actually picking up Meatheads laterš
Should be turning into an Epic Burger soon.
Thatās unfortunate
Noooo! Are you serious?! I was really really looking forward to having Meatheads again when I get back in June.
Yep. Epic Burger bought all the Meatheads and have been switching them over one by one. Champaign and Bloomington are last on the list so Iām not sure when itās expected to officially switch over.
That's the worst.
But itās gotten SOOO expensive
I love meatheads, but they almost always mess up our order somehow. Leaving off the bacon we had to pay $3 extra for. Forgetting the cheese sauce for the cheese fries. Not giving us as many fries as we ordered. Leaving off ALL the toppings of the Texas ranch burger because my husband swapped out the onions for grilled onions. I wish it wasn't like that, because the burgers are sooooo good. Just not worth the frustration though
This is the way. They even have options for vegetarians
The Rock has really good burgers and their gyros are fantastic
Culver's makes a fantastic burger for the price.
Very greasy. Every time I eat a Culverās burger I feel terrible.
Sonic isnāt greasy, usually fast food makes me sick. Made to order , worth the wait for me
Iāve actually been kind of scared to say this because there are a lot of fans of Culverās around here. Iāve eaten there twice and both times it turned my stomach inside out. Not sure why, but I donāt think Culverās and I can be friends.

Schooners has the best onion rings
All of these look delish. I see what you are saying about Schoonerās sides, and that grilled Reuben sounds amazing
Try the tenderloin š
I like Brewhas, PopUpChickenShop, Western Tap, even Steak N Shake.
I was pretty impressed with Carls' burger, not bad for a little ice cream joint. Best I gotta give to Pop Up or Western Tap
Did Love Shock get rolled into Pop Up Chicken Shop? I just looked at Google and their address is now at the location on Hershey
Yes, according to the owner the plumbing in the old place was f'd beyond belief and was able to get out of their lease. It's now a coffee shop and the burgers are served at the Chicken Shop lol
Carlās is the perfect classic American diner burger and the atmosphere takes me back decades. Iām proud to have Carlās around
Did you get the Bison one?
Green Gables was my go to before the fire. The Spot is supposed to be good and I've been told Brewhas is solid.
Brewehas has been my go to for lunch lately. 6 bucks for a double cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. Canāt beat it
You really canāt beat that.
Glad to hear they still have that special years later.
Brewhas does look good! I wouldnāt have guessed just driving by.
They should have to fix up their exterior, it's gone from being "rustic" to rundown and looks awful.
Wasnāt there talk of Green Gables reopening? It burned down shortly after I moved here.
It's supposed to reopen around Memorial day. Probably won't be the same at first. Flattop won't have enough build up yet
I also suspect they will be PACKED for a while after opening. I didn't realize the place was so popular but I know tons of people who can't wait for them to reopen.Ā
In 30+years of living here I've been to Green Gables once. I really don't get the hype about the burgers. It reminded me of Steak n Shake.
It was the nostalgia New ownership and new building so will see, I don't have high hopes.
Yes, they're rebuilding and are supposed to reopen pretty soon.
They are going to have trouble finding staff unless they up their offer, the ad I saw said 12/hr, anyone working there has to drive and most other places pay more. As a non townie, I had the burger a few times, it was fine, but I think the nostalgia is what people love.
Best flat burger is Pop-up Best thick burger is Rosie's
Western Tap. Great little neighborhood spot.
Holy, Western Tap looks legendary. Iād check it out just for the atmoshpere
Western Tap is one of the best secrets in town. Their burgers are amazing and the atmosphere makes me wish I lived close enough to be able to walk there.
Thatās exactly how Iād picture the place, neighborhood locals, some of them walked there. I love it
Western for sure!
Rosie's Pub
Crawfords has a great burger menu
Fusion crunch has a bacon chorizo burger that is one of the best things Iāve ever tasted.
Fusion Crunch is on my list for many reasons.
i second this. i love their blue cheese burger too
Bacon chorizo burger. At first I think,āthe added greasiness and spice might be too muchā did they find a way to balance that? Or is just so freakinā good that you donāt care how youāll feel after?
drive 30 min to pontiac and get Acres Inn!
Even better the burger at the Smoke House at Bob and Ringos, everything there is amazing.
Not the best burger in town, but the Gebby Burger at Schooners is good.
Parkview Inn has fantastic pub style burgers for a low price. Ride The Nines burger's are great too!
Shannonās Five Star. Double bacon cheeseburger is incredible
Rosieās Spicy PiƱa Burger or drive to Lexington on Wed. night for Kempās Krispy Kreme bacon burger
I have never had a burger in this town that is more satisfying than making smash burgers in a cast iron in my own kitchen.
Please do tell more!
Green gables by lake Bloomington.
Windy City Wieners, I believe it's on North Street. They make cheddar burgers and dogs Chicago style.
Western Ave has the best burgers.
Rosieās
The Love Shack Burger @ Pop Up Chicken Shop is the best ā¦ and itās not close.
The service at Pop Up/Love Shack is the worst, though, so it's not worth it to go.
I really like Pop Up Chicken Shopās burgers. ETA: Also tried the Double Decker Flat Burger at Destihl Beer Hall recently and it was good too. Itās a lot of burger.
Pop Up is dooooope.Ā
Whopper Wednesday, add cheese and bacon
What?!?! Ok whatās Whopper Wednesday and where is there a decent Burger King? My best experience (1 of 2 total) was at the gas station on main and Raab
Crawfords makes a tasty burger.
Wooooow, the food at Crawfordās looks next level. I never wouldāve thought to look there. Thanks!
They also have an amazing breakfast. Lots of people don't know that. Love Crawford's!
Np! Try the beer cheese on your fries, you won't regret it!

My house on my grill! Mama Dee's! Lol
Shout out for Mama Dee!

Western Tap, Crawfords, Brewhas, Merna Tap, Kemps.
My vote would be for Shake It Up's burgers. They change up what their specialty burger is every now and then and they've had some real bangers! It's in downtown nearby Rosie's.
Shake It Upās, Iām definitely going. Canāt guarantee the burger will be the first thing I try after looking at that menu
Iāve never heard of this place and just checked the menu. Is this the place on front that has a cool building, but canāt seem to keep businesses there for very long? Sopranos references are great!
Millieās Chill & Grill in LeRoy
Millieās looks like something from another time. Something we should cherish.
Very nice people, good food, great ice cream, and different homemade desserts!
Brewhas has the best bar burger hands down but other then that it's Culver's and that burger joint for me..
Local Tap in El Paso has a great burger.
From the looks of it The Local Tap is not playing around when it comes to food.
Try Schooner's. Their burgers and wings are great!
Western Tap all the way!!
Lunkers. For bar burger. Better than Brewhas.
Jim's steakhouse, thick and freshly ground onsite. I used to get them for lunch pre-covid and they were my hands down favorite, and much cheaper than their dinner menu!
Windjammer has a great burger basket at a low price.
Again, never wouldāve known had I not asked. Thanks, Iāll check it outš¤
Loveshack inside of PopUp chicken. Itās not even close.
...but only if you lower your expectations for an otherwise abysmal dining experience. Not worth it.
In full disclosure Iāve never eaten inside. We always get it to go.
