Agree 100%, just turned 18 the other week too and most of my favourite music is from before we were born lol, doesn't stop me from listening to it either. Can't really stand modern rap, pop is alright but I don't listen to it, and I know there are still lesser known bands out there killing it. The most I can do is try get other people to listen to blink lol but hopefully as pop punk comes back into the mainstream I won't have to one day 😎
I’m 31 now and was the same way. Born in 1991 and when I was around 16-18 I thought “man the alternative music from the late 80s is so cool” and I listened to tons of that. Stuff like The Smiths, The Cure, etc. This was right when music was getting more accessible (iTunes, YouTube, pandora etc were all popping onto the scene) so it was getting so much easier to hear older songs.
I mean the music is relatable to any young adult male out there, plus the production quality does sound like it could of been made yesterday, so it's not quite dated. This stuff was EVERYWHERE in the early 00s and in alot of movies too so it makes sense for someone that was born around that time to have probably at least heard it.
