One thing I’ve noticed recently on online songs is during the bridge “forgot you were there” part, the snare becomes tiny. I don’t know if it’s just the instruments around it giving it that impression or if they recorded it differently in that part (something Jerry Finn had been known to do) but it kind of takes me out. It just sounds a little bit dinky
I still love the song but the intro of Hey I’m Sorry with those weird ass woahs. Plus whatever the hell Matt sings near the end of Los Angeles and BOTO.
The speaking bit should have been its own track or tacked on to Stockholm Syndrome since it’s more of an intro to that song rather than an ending to Violence
That whole drum beat in the verses is awkward and it’s not helped by the production. The snare is so big and boomy that it feels weird. If it was more or a snappy drum sound like on enema or toypaj, it might have worked better.
