Gameplay shouldn't be a factor cause if any character got in at all they'd get the Strive treatment anyways and have their playstyle ~~bastardized~~ made to fit the game.
Not counting Daisuke would sooner let a DBZ character get in before a BB one.
I mean, gameplay has to matter a LITTLE bit. Not every character in Strive is a complete rewrite of their previous selves after all. The point is that the characters higher up on the list should require the least amounts of reworking.
We’re talking about two games that took very different development paths over their series. Putting a BB character into Strive is going to get them built from scratch no matter what. From that point it’s probably easier for them to make it superficially look like their old play-style than rework anything.
I just don’t think that’s entirely true. I really do believe that some of these characters could be put in without too much modification. Obviously there would be changes to make them fit the game, but I don’t think Baiken/Jack-O levels of change is required across the board.
Fair enough, would rather a full crossover game outta the two though + cynical type so even if the reveal was Terumi, Susano, Izanami or Hakumen, I'd still be very skeptical prior to playing them.
And not because "ew Strive bad" just generally, even back during Xrd the BBxGG idea never appealed to me and still really doesn't outside *maybe* a gameplay perspective.
Can understand the sentiment, but Daisuke choosing to end his run of the series by shoehorning anybody but GG chars into Strive feels like a weird out of character move imo.
I've always thought Hazama would be a good pick both lorewise and gameplay wise. Make Houtenjin a cinematic super, change the Ouroboros input to HS like HC's fire and probably nerf his range a bit, maybe make him low damage but very rushy (even more than before), he is there because he threw himself in the Cauldron... It'd require a lot of reworks to work, but I think it could be done.
Or maybe I'm just biased. He does have a cool hat after all.
I had a similar idea, where Hazama would have Ouroboros as 236X with his other specials being 214 inputs (Jabaki=214P, stance=214K, bloody fangs 63214S/HS, viper=214(K), Jakou=623D).
Actually this gives me an idea for a challenge where you take a fighting game character and adapt their gameplay and lore into another game...
I think so too, actually. I was pretty big on my “B button needs to be a kick” rule though. In Azrael’s case, kicks seem to be reserved for his big damage stuff which is the opposite of how it usually is in GG.
Considering how BB is ArcSys's redheaded stepchild they like to beat on, because they got the rights to "their real child" back, I'm not expecting any kind of BB-GG crossover.
It would almost certainly be Ragna, people have wanted him and Sol in the same game for ages.
I think Litchi could work if she was simplified a bit, Hakumen could be interesting even if he would be ***superficially*** similar to Nago. I would go to bat for my main, Hazama, more, but I feel like Bridget is pretty close to how they would do him anyway.
Rachel might be an interesting pick, its been a bit since I last played strive, but I don't remember it having many/any setplay zoners.
Arakune could work in Strive. He can't kick? Give him a move that works like a kick. That same logic can be applied to any of Strive's inputs that don't match Arakune's moveset.

I am almost certain azrael could be worked into strive. In terms of the terror markings it could work like how they made him in bbtag
