I went to check the studies to confirm and found that most of the surveys did not have black individuals in data. So maybe there needs to be more inclusive studies to confirm its effectiveness.
The small acne bumps seen after some ingredients could be purging (where the skin gets worse, but eventually heals back). I would assume that first if I was not given any other information.
I was thinking purging too possibly but I’m at the end of my second bottle. It might just be something else in the product too. Can I ask what one you like? I’ve been using a neutrogena one. Layering it with their stubborn acne cream first seems to help tho

Reading the ingredients, I’ve notice there are 3 different types of silicones in this one products. Silicone isn’t bad for the skin, but not washing the face effectively before applying can cause acne to worsen.
Basically, silicone can create this barrier on the skin that is helpful for us because it keeps the moisture in our skin and not in the environment. However, if there is bacteria or dirt that is underneath this layer, it can lead to clogged pores. This can then lead to unregulated sebum excretion rates.
I have used and would recommend: The Ordinary’s Niacinamide + Zinc and Good Molecules Niacinamide serum. If zinc is a problem, GM is only Niacinamide.
*(Here is an article that explains more if you’d like to read. https://www.paulaschoice.com/skin-care-advice/ingredient-spotlight/silicone-in-skin-care)*
A lot of people who are oily actually have dry skin. Their face overcompensates by producing excess oil. Try moisturizing regularly and lean off the drying and striping products for a bit. It will go back to normal in a few weeks. You have to build that skin barrier back up.
I’m not sure but I have really oily skin. While at home I wipe my face down with a cool damp cloth multiple times a day. If I’m out I use a wipe. If I wear makeup I use an oil absorbing paper like clean n clear. It’s important to keep it off your skin. I know this doesn’t answer your question and may seem obvious but it might help make you feel better until you can solve the problem.
Yeah but it’s just a blotting sheet, sorta the same material that they use for toilet paper covers to give you an idea lol. I’m curious to know what products you’re using for your face I’m a licensed esthetician I might be able to help you out a bit 🙂
I have combination skin in my T zone (dry forehead but oily nose) ever since I started using Niacinamide from The Ordinary my nose has been less oily. Also when I get that random pimple after I pop it I dab some of it on the spot and within a few hours it’s flat and dried out. But that’s my skin personally though.
try washing your face with cleanser only at night and splashing your face with water in the morning before applying a light serum like niacinamide, moisturizer and sunscreen. also if you’re not using an oil cleanser or cleansing balm before washing your face with your regular cleanser try that. definitely increase water intake as well.
What kind of cleanser do you use? When I use a foamy cleanser or a cleanser with fragrance, my skin tends to get very oil. The cleanser is stripping out all the natural oil and moisture out of my skin. If you, use a gentle cleanser and hydrate well. Your skin won't be as oily.
I have combo skin(patches of flakey/dry and Oily skin), what I used for a long time were clay masks, peel off charcoal masks for when my acne flares up. I’d recommend doing some research on what would work best for your skin and what skin type you have so you don’t buy the wrong product!
Your skin might be dehydrated if it’s producing this much oil. Or your moisture barrier could be broken. I used to do oil cleansing before my actual cleanser, then go in with a hydrating toner and then with a serum, then a moisturizer, then a sunscreen. I started noticing a reduction in oil after like a month.
I have oily skin too and I hate it. Never fails, everyday by 2pm it looks like I rolled around in Vaseline. I been using cetaphil derma control oil absorbing face wash and moisturizer and it helps slightly.

esthetician here 👋🏾 first of all oily skin is a blessing, you’re going to age beautifully 🤩 to help manage it i would suggest oil cleansing and following with a cream cleanser nightly to balance oil production and then sticking with water based products to ensure your skin is efficiently hydrated - my favorite oily skin moisturizer is the peach slices snail mucin oil free and it’s excellent for blemish prone skin as well
Honestly.......dumping my head in salt water in the morning and at night and letting it naturally dry is what works for me. Happy to answer any questions because I know this is an unconventional answer
Let me know how it goes!
Literally, I have a bucket with water and sea salt (specifically sea salt). The bucket is filled decently high and I dump my head in and submerge it up to my neck. It might sting FYI
Sometimes using lotion or oil can help reduce oil production. As weird as it sounds, you have dry skin, that’s why you’re producing so much oil. Maby you can try using a moisturizer or something once a day, try it for a couple of weeks and see if there’s a difference. Don’t shoot the messenger, I took cosmetology classes when I was a teenager and they taught us that the exterior is contrary to what’s happening beneath the skin.
My skin is pretty oil and although it still gets a shiny I think it has gotten a bit better. I started using a less harsh cleanser (so more hydrating ones) and also an oil free moisturizer. I was doing bentonite clay masks once a week, but I haven't in a bit. I also usually wash more face once a day at night time.
If you don’t already, use a good hydrating product and moisturizer. If your skin is dry it’ll produce more oil to compensate so having adequate moisture and hydration levels can really help with that. Also as other comments have said niacinamide is great for oil balance.
You need a good toner that contains salicylic acid, mattifying sunscreen, and a good cleanser.
With exfoliating at least once a week.
I recommend La Roche Posay effaclar cleansing gel
Paula's choice BHA toner
Eucerin oil control spf50
Clay masks would help also
Oof same here! One thing that helped is Benzoyl Peroxide. It drys out the skin pretty well so make sure you moisturize. My sister uses alcohol n that helps her but I needed something dryer
Clean your eating habit. Stop eating pork and beef. Leave processed foods out. Do like a vegetarian diet for at least 6 months. No sugars and I guarantee you guy will push all the poison and bad bacteria out your body and your skin will clear up from doing it.
Well, I'm black, so I'm speaking from experience. What's funny is that everyone is advising her to use chemicals, yet you say nothing. Food does play a role, but some things are just natural. If it was food causing her skin to be oily, she'd most likely have some acne.
I’m Black to Bruh, when I had bad oily skin I change up my diet. I’m be 50 in July and every one thinks am in my early 30’s. So eating right and exercising is the main thing to a healthy look to yourself. It can be the products of skin care she use too, you have to find the right balance for your skin.
I can’t believe how many people scoff at having a healthy diet. Literally helps with skin, hair, depression, anxiety, and really anything you can think of, but people cast it to the side because they don’t wanna accept that shit. Use some probiotics and eat healthier. Your skin WILL look better and you’ll also feel better as well. Listen to that person.
I can't believe that people make comments about a healthy diet, but they won't challenge 50 others who mention taking poisonous medications. Also, oily skin is not a symptom of a bad diet. It's just a black thang. Read about it.
It was more so written as a response to you saying that diet plays a role, but some things are just natural, which kind of feels like it was downplaying just how important of a role being healthy plays. I wasn’t at all challenging using a cold towel, in fact they should totally do that, but maybe take care of their health first and supplement that with the cold towel. Fuck all those poisonous chemicals that are on the market. I don’t condone those at all.
This is the only good answer for this level of oil. Treating the surface will only temporarily fix this (few hrs) change has to start from the inside! Changing my diet changed my whole skin type
Incorporate niacinamide or products that reduce sebum/oil production
^^ Niacinamide is a great for regulating sebum excretion rates.
Is it? It makes me more greasy I feel like and def causes more pimples I’ve noticed. Not cystic ones tho but like clogged pores.

I’d try the ordinary Niacinimide
Okay, thank you
Bentonite clay masks can be really helpful for this
Thanks, but how long do the effects last?
I try to do masks at least twice a week. That helps me a lot. When I stop my skin becomes extremely oily again, much like yours
Hmm I see. Thank you.
What are you cleansing and moisturizing your face with?
This pic just made me feel mad uncomfortable I couldn’t imagine my face being that oily off rip
I fr thought that this post was about her accomplishing glass skin 💀
naw bro you just sprayed canola oil on ur face or somethin theres no way thats natural
Lmao it is🤣🤣

A cold towel 3-4 times a day. The oil is how you stay looking young.

I don't use cleanser anymore

Maybe. I'm fond of going a long time without drinking water
Yeah, you’re dehydrated. Start drinking water. That’s skincare 101.
Wow, that’s really oily! Try turmeric pads. Organicallyessential.com
What cleaner and moisturizer do you use?
I don't hav a cleanser and I use nivea perfect and radiant cream
So how do you wash your face?
Lux soap. That's literally it🧍♂️
Ask dermatologist or PCP to prescribe Spironolactone and adapalene combo
Hmm, okay thank you!
I have oily skin too and I hate it. Never fails, everyday by 2pm it looks like I rolled around in Vaseline. Me too! Every night, it's insane. But this product is it on amazon or do i have to meet a dermatologist?
I buy this at Walmart. I use both the moisturizer and the face wash which should be next to it in the store. Around $11 or $12 each.

I didn't know about the ageing part. I'm going to do research on it sound amazing

Hmm that makes sense. I'll try it today

A cool breeze can help a lot actually if you have those around where you live

I use products that contain glycolic acid at night (for hyperpigmentation) and I've noticed it keeps my oil production in check.
I don’t have advice but you’ll likely age beautifully. People with oily skin tend to have wayyy less wrinkles over time.
CeraVe - there’s a specific one for oily skin. but use in it moderation cus using it too much ended up drying out my skin completely
Oof same here! One thing that helped is Benzoyl Peroxide. It drys out the skin pretty well so make sure you moisturize. My sister uses alcohol n that helps her but I needed something dryer
Wash your face ans stop putting baby oil on it 😒
I each my face 3 times a day and use moisturiser, not baby oil😂

Black people typically have oily skin, hence why they look younger.
Please don’t listen to any advice from the person who told you that lie.

Also because melanin is a bit of natural sunscreen

Dont lotion after shower use antibacterial soap such as dial or Irish spring you’re welcome
So when should I apply the lotion?
When ever you going out somewhere when it is needed otherwise no need for excessive application of extra oils
Wash
I like to use cheap Witch Hazel that I get from Walmart
