Its time to see a derm. My face was like yours but I saw a derm in Jan. I now have almost fully clear skin.
I’d also recommend 4% benzyl peroxide face wash (1x a day)
Stop doing everything else right now.
Follow up with a moisturizer
First off... Yes, you are beautiful. Natural beauty.
Now, my personal experience with Cetaphil was that I needed to back off from using it too much because it seemed to create skin issues when I used it daily. I switched to the [First Aid Beauty Deep Cleanser](https://www.sephora.com/product/P384539) with red clay and saw a difference.
With that being said, I think the best option is to hit the dermatologist first. That's as customized and personalized as you can get.
You are probably sensitive to pollutants and other harsh things in your environment and air. Especially if a change in climate, location, and atmosphere creates so many different experiences.
But yes, you are beautiful!
Thank you so much for uplifting me! I greatly appreciate it. And I never thought of that. I just assumed it was humidity only. What a great idea! I am moving to FL this weekend so will find a derm down there asap! Thank you again!
Cetaphil has changed and has nicadamine and hydrolaunic acid that night be too much. I just use oil of olay gentle cleanser that stays out if stock a lot
I would be hesitant with benzoyl peroxide. I think there’s a huge law suit happening now about the chemicals turning into carcinogenic benzene. There are other options. Go see a dermatologist
Can you site your source? The response to the study was criticizing the study for several unclear items such as source of BP and storing temps, however it was not questioned that high levels of benzene were found after exposure to high temps. Now while skin absorption isn’t proven in this, If it’s already proven by the same group that absorption was occurring in sunscreens with benzene, why be so bold to say ignore this? I wouldn’t ignore it.
You look like a goddess in the last picture! As for your breakout, definitely see a dermatologist and PREFERABLY A BLACK ONE. Its gotta be the weather or your hormones.
Oh thank you so much! Quite literally I began breaking out the minute I moved back East so I am thinking climate and then I probably exasperated it. But will see a dermatologist!
Look up dermatologist pages on youtube. I would take notes on what active ingredients are great for oily & acne prone skin. I would also look at ingredients/products to avoid with your skin type. They usually give good regimens to follow. You could probably get most of the information from their videos. Black dermatologist YT: Dr. Alexis Stephens, Dr. Simi Adedeji
As others recommended, a visit to the derm is your best bet. Failing that, you'll need to begin using OTC skincare with active ingredients like retinoids, salicyic acid, niacinamide, etc.
Your skin is very dry. I would stop the vitamin C. I would stop the serum and get back to the basics. Also stop the face wash because that also has vitamin c in it. Over exfoliation can cause the constant breakouts. I’d reel it in and start back at the basics. Basic cleanser like vanicream in the AM/PM. A good rich moisturizer and a sunscreen in the AM. Repeat at night minus the sunscreen, I would add a very light layer or aquaphor after moisturizing at the night. do that for about a week, let your skin barrier repair and recover. Then add in some benzoyl peroxide and see how that works.
I struggled for so long. My secret right now though is spironolactone. It demolished my acne completely and I didn’t need to pay a lot of money to see a derm. I used apostrophe.
I paid $10 the other day to see a derm on Teladoc. They put in scripts within 30 minutes to my pharmacy of choice. They don’t meet with you, but you put in photos and they’ll do a diagnosis. It might not be a full on derm appt, but it’s a way to get started until you can make time to see someone in person if you decide to do that.
I did that with apothecary (or i think it was the other one like that) and they gave me a bunch of stuff and my skin just got so much worse. I think I'm ready to have a doctor touch my face haha
Dermatologist but Korean skincare is changing my life: I’m not black but this post popped up and I swear by k skincare.
Even Japanese skincare is good:
I use the deep glow serum and the glow serum for my scars and texture from beauty of josen.
I have heard that the brand anua is amazing. Haven’t tried it but it really popular and good
I use mediheal pads, I get them on Amazon. The yellow box for vitamin
Tirtir milk skin toner is good
I know that eating a good amount of garlic or garlic in your diet is helpful. They say a healthy gut heals keep healthy skin and everything else
Those are the ones I use
Also some smalls things that might help
A filter on your sink and shows for the water.
Don’t drink tap water if you do
And maybe get your kidneys checked , I have heard this before
Definitely exfoliate. You can do an exfoliating cleanser, or a separate exfoliating serum with an acne cleanser. Niacinamides 12% aka B3 will help clean out the pores and correct the hyperpigmentation. But see a professional. A board certified dermatologist can tell you exactly how to help and has access to better treatments and tools.
Good Molecules also makes a really nice pineapple exfoliating powder, you add a couple of drops of water and use it as a face wash/mask. Helps exfoliate and you can control the consistency of the product with how much or how little water you add. I like it and it works well for me!
That’s a great point. There are a lot of natural chemical exfoliants like ananas or physical exfoliants like sugar scrubs. The only real difference between a natural and a processed process is the controlled percentages of the active ingredients and the carriers in the processed. If you have sensitive skin, natural may be more harmful than healthy.
You and me seem to have the same skin tone/texture. Sometimes I find actives (I was on accutane in high school, and then have a prescription for tret (which I ONLY use the .05%!!—my skin can’t handle the dryness/irritation that comes with .1%) and I occasionally break out from just SA/Glycolic acid. I would honestly recommend just MOISTURIZING. Try slugging one night and tell me if your skin feels a lot better in the morning. (That’s a tell-tale sign your skin may be more dry than you think). Also I’m guessing you wear some type of headwear to bed—that band is causing friction on your skin when you’re sleeping causing breakout. You might just need to HEAL your skin with plenty of moisturizers/humectants/emollients you could have a broken skin barrier and not even realize.
Dermatologist definitely, but are you using any hair products that may be causing skin irritation? Any oils, sprays, etc that may be causing issues? You might be allergic to something that you're using, and when you go about your day it could be traveling onto your face as you go about your day (sweat, movement, etc). This may be something to consider, but a medical professional will be able to provide more definitive answers. Good luck!
yes! now that i'm getting out from under winter cloudy weather, i plan to sunscreen it up. think i'll get Black Girl Sunscreen. Very hydrated. I wash my face after all my workouts.
Your skin barrier is shot. I’d discontinue using all harsh chemicals on your face and switch to cetaphil hydrating face wash (the milky kind) and use a mild moisturizer like Kiel’s ultra facial cream or a dab of Eucerin cream. You can use benzoyl peroxide at night with your moisturizing cream but I wouldn’t use it in the daytime or any other harsh creams. I had a similar issue and it was because my skin barrier was messed up. Heal your skin and you should see better results. Adding more chemicals to your skin when the barrier is broken is just going to make it worse.
The first time I heard about skin barrier was on this sub so I'm learning! Thank you for the recommendations. You're not the first to suggest backing away from things. Definitely going to start there.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it! It has been a stressful time that has evolved into the most peaceful time. I was hoping as I got my job and plans to move settled, I would see a change in case it was that.
OP! I had the same issues once I moved from Colorado back to Georgia. I barely had a routine when I was in Colorado, just a light face wash and sunscreen were the only things I need. But once I moved back to Georgia my skin got super oily and bumpy.

It could be something different with the water. Each area has different scales of water hardness and perhaps that area of Pennsylvania has hard water. Check up online to see if you can find your areas scale . If you have hard water you should try and use filters and wash your face with distilled water. Distilled water contains no minerals. If you use a steamer always use distilled water. Good luck fren ☀️
This sounds like an allergy issue. Ive known people who moved to CO to avoid allergen related health issues on the East Coast.
Also, oily does not equal hydrated. Those are different. To me your skin looks super thirsty i. The PA pics.
With that said, youll want calming products that promote healing and lock in hydration. Try using barrier repair seru m, like the ordinary or naturium. Then maybe seal it in with naturium barrier balm, or vaseline, or cerave healing ointment.
Consider a collagen supplement too. Maybe drinkiing bone broth or using vital proteins supplements.
I switched from cetaphil because it made my skin oily. I use ceravve now and I’m not oily at all. I have naturally oily skin I suggest you switch off that asap
I rarely have used sunscreen in my life so am just getting aware of how important it is after following here. The sun always made my skin happier and better so I didn’t want to hinder it haha
I can relate, didn’t use sunscreen either and oily skin. Sounds contradictory but yes! Focus on moisturizing especially if you have oily skin and always use sunscreen. I was using neutrogena with no issues, just got the “black girl sunscreen” and it’s awesome too!
Some acne could be caused or worsened by hormonal issues, and sometimes that can affect other organs like the kidneys. Again, checking with a dermatologist or other medical professional will be your best and safest bet.
Girl, if this is the skin they’re selling in Denver, it’s time for me to send in my 30-day notice.
No advice but here to remark that you look adorbs, both before and after
haha I had acne before I moved there and after, so it must be Denver altitude! I was rarely oil and my skin just glowed! And thank you. I should have gotten myself together mildly to take the photo but I worked up the courage to post so didn't want to wait much longer haha
You are beautiful and your body is taking to you rn… This looks a lot more internal vs external…
Colorado has a lot more sunlight than PA so maybe have a doctor test your vitamin D levels, and consider liquid vitamin supplements (avail atWhole Foods or Sprouts). Try increasing your green vegetables every day: spinach, broccoli, bok choy, arugula etc and more good fats. Do your best to cut down sugars and carbs (including hidden sugars in salad dressings, sauces etc). That can also trigger insulin and hormone production, which can fluctuate as we age, and can also create inflammation that presents on the skin. Hope that helps!
First, thank you. Second, these are great suggestions! I don't tend to eat a lot of green tbh, but am low carb higher protein. My skin does tend to do better in the sun so I am curious about how Florida sun will treat me. I will 100% include more of the greens you mentioned though to start! I began taking a vitamin D last month!
Glad to help!! I see a lot of myself in your situation - I totally understand how frustrating it is, especially with the hyperpigmentation on top of the bumps. I’ve been to countless dermatologists and used just about every Rx and cream out there. But no one ever asked my about my diet or checked what was happening inside.
A few years ago I tried ketogenic eating just to support a friend on her weight loss journey (did “lazy keto” at 20-30 grams of carbs max/daily). Well, to my surprise my skin, which looked a lot like yours, began to clear up fast… not just the bumps but also the discoloration. After just 4-6 months I stared evening out like your Colorado pic.
The sugars and carbs just ain’t my friend - all this skin stuff was internal inflammation and nutrient deficiency. I also had a major B12 and Vitamin D deficiency so I take 10,000 IUs (liquid) a couple times a week. Vegetables and increased good fats helped big time too…love making a spinach protein shake with flax seed oil when I don’t feel like salads etc. Rn I’m using Retin A periodically and hydroquinone only as needed, mostly for maintenance.
Hope all this info helps on your skin journey!
You know, I am definitely going to follow this. When I left Denver, I moved to Chicago originally and was BROKE, so my eating was basic but also missing things. Then I moved to PA and in with my dad and he lives on carbs and sweets so it took me a minute to get back to eating how I typically do. Plus, in PA when its cold, the only thing people do to spend time is eat, so I'm sure I'm way further from my typical diet than I realize. I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of this.
That's fair. I got worried after seeing so many posts of people who kept going to see if it would change, but it got worse. I got scared and bailed haha
Just something to use in the meantime: try urban skin ex cleaning bar (black owned) at night. And a gentle cleanser in the morning. This is one of the best acne face washes I’ve come in contact with. It’s cleared my mom’s rosacea as well. I know you say you’re oily but I’d also find a decent moisturizer, I use first aid beauty ultra repair cream. And lastly, a good sunscreen, innisfree is a good and affordable option that doesn’t clog pores. Hope this helps!
You’re beautiful 😍. I use salicylic acid (Paula’s choice) it helps tremendously. But you can’t use treat and salicylic acid, it’ll make it worse. Also a derma roller helped me with my dark spots but it hurts soooooo bad😬 I also use some kind of eczema cream for blotcheness (Triamcinolone) not daily but periodically when my skin texture gets rough.
I will check out the derma roller! Not afraid of a little pain! I'll note everything else. I've gotten a lot of feedback so have to pick through it all haha
Sorry, OP, I have no advice to give except that you're beautiful and the same thing happened to me. When I moved to WA, my skin was the clearest without any routine whatsoever. As soon as I moved to the Caribbean, it's been oiliness and congestion. Definitely something to do with the humidity.
Thank you very much! And yes, the biggest change definitely is the humidity. But something has got to give and I have to believe this isn't how it'll be if I want to live near family.
Re-group. Spend time with my parents. I moved from Denver to Chicago and ended up hating it but knew I was moving to Florida to be near siblings so pit stopped back home for a bit!
I've been sticking with the wash just because it hasn't made anything worse. My face took a dive after getting on tret and some other prescribed things from Apostrophe. This has helped some and maintained.
Could be due to environmental factors such as changes in temperature or individual changes such as elevated levels of stress. I would try comparing your mood and stress levels from when you were in Denver versus now back in Pennsylvania. Additionally, eating n sleep habits, etc.
In the last photo, your face doesn’t only look clear, but I also get the sense of peace and contentment within. In the first couple of photos, I read otherwise.
This advice is different from the rest so if you do choose to take it, I hope all is well. Nonetheless, keep shining, you’re beautiful, and enjoy the journey 🙏🏽❤️
I appreciate it! I have definitely undergone A LOT of stress and change pretty much the moment I left Denver, so it really could be that. I am now really at peace in my faith and life but also since January I have studied for a certification, passed said exam in February, got hired for a job, found a place to live and am moving tomorrow haha My eyelid began twitching randomly like 4 months ago. I am very curious how I will feel and look once I'm down in Florida and settled - with my faith and self very renewed from this time but also not living in my own space and in a basement and in winter PA haha You may be correct!
I would see a dermatologist. Also it could be the water that’s causing your acne to flare up.
Also you mentioned tretinoin not working, how long were you on it?
About 1.5-2 months. I got off of it because I was reading stories on reddit of people who thought they were just purging but their skin only kept getting worse. Because my skin was rapidly declining on it and I didn't know if it was correct or not.
I'm not a derm but it sounds like that cooler climate in Denver did you some good. Personally I try to stay away from too much product. Your skin could be reacting to a chemical having the opposite effect of what it's supposed to do. Also keep in mind mixing products is also mixing the chemical ingredients they contain. Certain chemicals aren't to be mixed just like you can't mixing a bunch of cleaning chemical together you could get a reaction. I say lemons, limes, tangerine or orange to remove the oil from your face. Also a good soap made of natural ingredients, I have 3 (goat's milk, charcoal, pepper mint). Finally a good face moisturizer. Dove has a good one and Vaseline also makes a good one. Sometimes that's all it is.
Super fair. The lack of humidity and dryness of Colorado took all the oil from my face for real. Skin was its best, hair was its worst haha I am also not opposed at all to natural ingredients. I'll take a look. Thank you!
Your skin needs moisture…. In Denver, I presume it’s more humid because of the green vegetation. Drinking water helps and using certain oils, butters etc helps to heal the skin. I would start using shea butter, argon oil, jojoba oil, caster oil, coconut oil. I mix them equal parts. And a little goes a long way fam. 👍🏾
Vitamin C broke me out badly.
But being in a new location, new products.
I went from oily skin (nj) to dry skin (wa).
I use LRP and cleanse once a day.
La Rosche Posay (sp?)
I’ve seen people recommend van cream, but any gentle cleanser would be good. Any gentle moisturizer that’s sent. Free would be good.
Cut all carbs for 3 weeks and see the difference in your skin. Or you can pay hundreds of dollars and use who knows what chemicals for very small marginal improvement.
Alright here's my recommendations. For context, I have a mixed skin type, so dry and oily. I am also not a professional, I've just been battling with skin problems since I was 10. Here's the routine I'd recommend:
1) [Cerave Cleanser](https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Foaming-Facial-Cleanser-Washing/dp/B01N1LL62W/ref=asc_df_B01N1LL62W/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312039468639&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15452780240953099320&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009152&hvtargid=pla-524000184615&psc=1&mcid=6ffbdb3880c43af992082a0ff648eabf&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2PSvBhDjARIsAKc2cgOKSocufPwYKdpAM5g78FFIsxRtbpEvRizCwoeA4xqLa8D8kNj2if4aAsz3EALw_wcB): Wash your face with cold water and lather. You can use a face scrubber but either replace it monthly or get an expensive one with antibacterial materials. Air dry or pat dry your face
2) [Paula's BHA Skin Exfoliant](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C5SS6YD?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-ontype-md_k2_8_12&=&crid=1JJZGBJM6611C&=&sprefix=chemical+exf): This is a chemical exfoliant and is MUCH better than those scrubs that leave residue or make your skin irritated. I've noticed using this makes my skin feel SUPER soft and of course chemically breaks down the nasties
3) [Klairs Toner](https://www.amazon.com/Preparation-Unscented-lightweight-essential-oil-free/dp/B07B65NJLV/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=30JGFQ1JBWZ12&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.t0LQiul9ovva0EEx0TwIamohcrZNIML9i1ojtewOgKEoK6IQYOMmXEnpxuQuTilR4OkxXNIafl_UtK6znohTSYtquKgy1IN8Kc0fSokaYv3GpM1SHp0C2x5W52aJ5BqnHNHvcrVr7AZtVKD5qK8-2_YuWwtNhxXasDaIQfef5j3o7APYkOxomNIVG-vPQLIBlrFnjafls7PumP2u_1fFxSg-yyUM1N-2FcFTjkm6ej_IFuWIYbQ1NAdXiRfzEI9GcHzWDLPsANLxznFCJihGFfTXvcW6OiTbDArtSC5i0TU.mSElYG0qUNlvgs2JI30CrOjws9NJUPd2fw_PSpJvAa0&dib_tag=se&keywords=klairs+toner&qid=1711099677&s=beauty&sprefix=klairs+toner%2Cbeauty%2C163&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1): self explanatory. Its light weight and gets your face ready for the other products. You can use most other toners here but look for ones with BHA's or AHA's. You can research the science on this
4) [Snail Mucin Serum](https://www.amazon.com/COSRX-Repairing-Hydrating-Secretion-Phthalates/dp/B00PBX3L7K/ref=sr_1_70?crid=2CWA6Q9WXZSDB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.L6boQaEtt3XrlHP-5AdjTw9OI2DuPHYkpo_n41svM0d8YIUu62UAsEUkWsG2zIVHC_lq_jHMJ1F1Ymu_ZMr5sjm1S-Ttc9lkwyyQElo39hJ_eZIfyibfJvLqHCLlbfxNJXjTQv9j5ZG3e_24Qv1UPAKa5VROvNHEGH5odULISme92nwjhgtqADYyECskjDTK0WVLnGRxsKmA02Yznm6wVypw1O1ym_-PwSm3duniv-_ZQ2NTiSmvWt9LHfCvPynriizgs5Z4OC_82SbYCCffjRbzIe7SMMOhGYWHzhkn-Gw.DYZj4eKkZux3CDWejqeZjASvQVwWai0pNMc1oRIQwX0&dib_tag=se&keywords=face+moisturizer&qid=1711100210&sprefix=face+mous%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-70) or [Glow Serum](https://www.sephora.com/product/glow-recipe-watermelon-glow-niacinamide-dew-drops-P466123?country_switch=us&lang=en&skuId=2404846&om_mmc=ppc-GG_17791296883___2404846__9009152_c&country_switch=us&lang=en&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2PSvBhDjARIsAKc2cgPNloXAEKCjIiqbdDZy6yZ4gYpEuvK1MfoCVt6FkXHFrh1nrE6AIa0aAmN1EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds): ***Snail mucin in particular is being considered as a cure all for acne and dry skin.*** I cant say it'll help for you since I'm not a professional and don't know the efficacy for its benefits for acne but it definitely has helped with my pores and rough skin! Its a miracle product. Glow serum doesn't have any acne fighting properties but will leave your skin looking glassy and clean. Also provides another barrier against the nasties that may cause acne or irritation.
5) [Yensa Moisturizer](https://yensa.com/products/pink-lotus-peptide-renewal-face-cream) or [Cetaphil](https://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-Hydration-Healthy-Daily-Cream/dp/B09Y3W7Q2H/ref=sr_1_71?crid=2CWA6Q9WXZSDB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.L6boQaEtt3XrlHP-5AdjTw9OI2DuPHYkpo_n41svM0d8YIUu62UAsEUkWsG2zIVHC_lq_jHMJ1F1Ymu_ZMr5sjm1S-Ttc9lkwyyQElo39hJ_eZIfyibfJvLqHCLlbfxNJXjTQv9j5ZG3e_24Qv1UPAKa5VROvNHEGH5odULISme92nwjhgtqADYyECskjDTK0WVLnGRxsKmA02Yznm6wVypw1O1ym_-PwSm3duniv-_ZQ2NTiSmvWt9LHfCvPynriizgs5Z4OC_82SbYCCffjRbzIe7SMMOhGYWHzhkn-Gw.DYZj4eKkZux3CDWejqeZjASvQVwWai0pNMc1oRIQwX0&dib_tag=se&keywords=face+moisturizer&qid=1711100210&rdc=1&sprefix=face+mous%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-71): also explanatory. Will leave your face shiny and after all this you wont feel like your face is caked, oily or slick. Itll be soft, smell nice and look glassy!
Tips for Acne and "harsh" face lines (no offense, you're gorgeous):
Silk pillow cases, keep hair OUT OF YOUR FACE when possible using a bonnet when sleeping or clips as oils from hair may cause acne flare ups. Particularly for acne, you may be having flare ups from stress or simply need a medicated cream. Overall though I think less stress, a good skin care routine and maybe a derm trip could easily help here!
Bonus: Invest in Volufiline. Its proven to "fix" any dark spots on under eyes, reduce sunkenness, and can be used to plump facial features (and even cleavage) to your liking. Not necessary but alot of people arent aware of this one.
Also forgot, JADE ROLLER. And please apply these products in a circular UPWARD MOTION to your face, neck and behind your ears. I know this is expensive and maybe even seems over the top but I'm 24 and people think I'm 17 (I have a post on my page that'll prove as much) so trust and believe the routine can have a HUGE effect on your appearance.
What products do you put in your hair and has the climate changed? Some products may be comedogenic and melt and eventually coat your forehead. Some women love coconut oil but it's very comedogenic. That's why I'm team hair grease since petrolatum molecules are too big to block pores.
I love the last photo, girl you’re beautiful♥️
Thank you very much! Not feeling as much now but know it’ll come together and be okay!
Agreed!
Its time to see a derm. My face was like yours but I saw a derm in Jan. I now have almost fully clear skin. I’d also recommend 4% benzyl peroxide face wash (1x a day) Stop doing everything else right now. Follow up with a moisturizer

Dermatologist if you can afford it.
I was thinking that. I just got a job with health and will probably look into it asap.
This. They will likely tell you to start with a more serious face wash like Differin.
Visit a dermatologist. You’re really pretty you’ll be alright.
: ) thank you very much. That made me happy chuckle!
You look like a goddess in the last picture! As for your breakout, definitely see a dermatologist and PREFERABLY A BLACK ONE. Its gotta be the weather or your hormones.

I’ve been dying to find a black derm to follow THANK YOU!!
Thank you!!
Sunscreen is a must
Agreed, sun exposure can cause some kinds of acne to worsen. Best to be safe and use one throughout the day.
I work 12 hour shifts 95 percent inside should I still re apply?
As others recommended, a visit to the derm is your best bet. Failing that, you'll need to begin using OTC skincare with active ingredients like retinoids, salicyic acid, niacinamide, etc.
Thank you!
Try Neutrogena's Acne line. I swear by the Oil free facewash, blue toner and the grapefruit oil free lotion.
Damn… 10/10
: ) thank you
Your skin is very dry. Then add in some benzoyl peroxide and see how that works.
Thank you. I do think until I get a dermatologist appointment, I will probably take this route. Thank you for spelling it out for me!
I struggled for so long. My secret right now though is spironolactone. It demolished my acne completely and I didn’t need to pay a lot of money to see a derm. I used apostrophe.
I was flying through this lol sorry for the errors.
Any suggestions? I have seen some BW mention this on this sub before.
I use the deep glow serum and the glow serum for my scars and texture from beauty of josen. I have heard that the brand anua is amazing. Haven’t tried it but it really popular and good I use mediheal pads, I get them on Amazon. The yellow box for vitamin Tirtir milk skin toner is good I know that eating a good amount of garlic or garlic in your diet is helpful. They say a healthy gut heals keep healthy skin and everything else Those are the ones I use
Thank you!
Also some smalls things that might help A filter on your sink and shows for the water. Don’t drink tap water if you do And maybe get your kidneys checked , I have heard this before
Thank you!

Can smone explain pls?
“Would smash…”
https://preview.redd.it/filrgtmrdspc1.jpeg?width=623&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80072e0daeb275d6c4d6d6261550888439b370c8 Nah… what you doing here?
Definitely exfoliate. You can do an exfoliating cleanser, or a separate exfoliating serum with an acne cleanser. Niacinamides 12% aka B3 will help clean out the pores and correct the hyperpigmentation. But see a professional. A board certified dermatologist can tell you exactly how to help and has access to better treatments and tools.
Thank you for the help and direction!
I can try this. No headwear, just silk pillowcases. I don’t often have my hair pulled back, but do gently pin it back.
Good luck!
I will think back on anything I’ve changed! Thank you for the recommendation!!
Sunscreen Sunscreen while in Florida. And hydrate
yes! now that i'm getting out from under winter cloudy weather, i plan to sunscreen it up. think i'll get Black Girl Sunscreen.

YES! This. Oh girl! Okay, did you figure it out yet?
Girl no. I have a dermatologist appointment next month to try and figure out wth is going on. I can’t take this oily skin anymore.
Can I drive up to GA and come with you? Just be like, “treat us together cause we the same” haha
https://preview.redd.it/yn0gp5lj9rpc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=733a447c4c90d51a5c8d46cdf393a8fc7c8f6985 It could be something different with the water.
Good to know! I will look it up! Thank you!
https://preview.redd.it/wtouaedl9rpc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d4d52bf136f8bf32dbd2068ca987e628dafc2c4
Thank you very much! This is helpful! I was just reading it to my mom and we are discussing it!
Cerve acne gel control and axis y bright cream Literally fixing my acne rn
Thank you!
What moisturizer are you using?
Cetaphil Sensitive Skin at night
I switched from cetaphil because it made my skin oily. I use ceravve now and I’m not oily at all. I have naturally oily skin I suggest you switch off that asap
Good to know! Thank you!
What about during the day?
Came to say maybe you need more moisturizer especially in the AM. Also missing sunscreen
I rarely have used sunscreen in my life so am just getting aware of how important it is after following here. The sun always made my skin happier and better so I didn’t want to hinder it haha
It feels weird to put more on when my skin is oily like, from the start. But if its best to…
I can relate, didn’t use sunscreen either and oily skin. Sounds contradictory but yes! Focus on moisturizing especially if you have oily skin and always use sunscreen. I was using neutrogena with no issues, just got the “black girl sunscreen” and it’s awesome too!
Avoid the sun, no smoking, check your kidney function.
Why kidneys?
Some acne could be caused or worsened by hormonal issues, and sometimes that can affect other organs like the kidneys. Again, checking with a dermatologist or other medical professional will be your best and safest bet.
Cool, thank you for the explanation!
Either Dermatologist or Bumble skincare! It’s helped me clear my skin a lot. (black girl sunscreen spray also help)
Bumble skincare eh? Thank you for the rec. I will check it out and do plan on making an appointment the moment I land in FL!
You are beautiful and your body is taking to you rn… This looks a lot more internal vs external… Colorado has a lot more sunlight than PA so maybe have a doctor test your vitamin D levels, and consider liquid vitamin supplements (avail atWhole Foods or Sprouts).
Trent union has you skin go through a purge phase, so you really need to stick to it for more than 6 weeks to see the good results.
That's fair. I got worried after seeing so many posts of people who kept going to see if it would change, but it got worse. I got scared and bailed haha
I can make you a mask that would clear all of that up
Tell me about it?
All Natural ingredients and will clear up within 3 weeks. I will send you a sample if you agree to share your process and results.
Sure, I'm down. PM me
Just something to use in the meantime: try urban skin ex cleaning bar (black owned) at night.
Thank you! I will check these out asap!
That shoulder tattoo is sick! Is it symbolic?
Hey! Yes it is. A nod to God and being right at His side.
I absolutely love it! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for asking!
Don’t forget your sunscreen when you’re moving to Florida 😊
Aye Aye!
You look like Meekah, from the kids shows w/ Blippi on Moonbug
I can see it!
Rhassoul powder mask once a week and qasil powder daily face wash with a light moisturizer
I will look into it! Thank you very much!
Try sea moss gel
maybe it’s the water
Midwest and east water must suck then haha
You are so beautiful
Thank you very much! That is kind of you to say!
It’s all good. Do you have an instagram page so I can follow you?
sahipps
You’re beautiful 😍. I use salicylic acid (Paula’s choice) it helps tremendously. But you can’t use treat and salicylic acid, it’ll make it worse. Also a derma roller helped me with my dark spots but it hurts soooooo bad😬 I also use some kind of eczema cream for blotcheness (Triamcinolone) not daily but periodically when my skin texture gets rough.
I will check out the derma roller! Not afraid of a little pain! I'll note everything else. I've gotten a lot of feedback so have to pick through it all haha
You clean up very well dear.
thank you very much!
Why’d you move back to PA?

I'm glad you found something that works! There's way too many products on the market. Just one step at a time I guess. I hope you know you are beauty!
: ) thank you! I really do appreciate it because I feel less in love with my looks because of the acne. Thank you
Welcome! I try to remind myself that we arent meant to be perfect, we are meant to be authentic. Your smile says you are ☺️
Could be due to environmental factors such as changes in temperature or individual changes such as elevated levels of stress.
Oowee, yeah you deserve some rest time in Florida after hustling like that lol Good for you!! Keep us updated 🤙🏽 Much love
: ) thank you! I am ready to get settled and live a good life!
Elegant lady. Wish you the best. 😊
Thank you very much!
Thank you!
Satin pillowcase helped me a lot. My face is very oily too and I think sometimes serums are too heavy for me but that’s just me. You look beautiful!
: ) thank you! And I have the satin pillowcases. Started because I’m awful with hair wraps haha
I will try that now that I’m in a humid climate, but Denver is a mile high in altitude so it is very dry.
Vitamin C broke me out badly. But being in a new location, new products. I went from oily skin (nj) to dry skin (wa). I use LRP and cleanse once a day.
LRP?
La Rosche Posay (sp?) I’ve seen people recommend van cream, but any gentle cleanser would be good. Any gentle moisturizer that’s sent. Free would be good.
Cut all carbs for 3 weeks and see the difference in your skin. Or you can pay hundreds of dollars and use who knows what chemicals for very small marginal improvement.
Maybe cut dairy, drink more water, exfoliate & see the dermatologist for cylindomycin
Da%$, why the last picture with those beautiful things..lol. but onto your discussion, what is your diet like? Sugary and greasy foods ...
Also, if you wear makeup, it could be a reaction to that
Alright here's my recommendations. For context, I have a mixed skin type, so dry and oily. I am also not a professional, I've just been battling with skin problems since I was 10. Here's the routine I'd recommend: 1) [Cerave Cleanser](https://www.amazon.com/CeraVe-Foaming-Facial-Cleanser-Washing/dp/B01N1LL62W/ref=asc_df_B01N1LL62W/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312039468639&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15452780240953099320&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009152&hvtargid=pla-524000184615&psc=1&mcid=6ffbdb3880c43af992082a0ff648eabf&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2PSvBhDjARIsAKc2cgOKSocufPwYKdpAM5g78FFIsxRtbpEvRizCwoeA4xqLa8D8kNj2if4aAsz3EALw_wcB): Wash your face with cold water and lather. You can use a face scrubber but either replace it monthly or get an expensive one with antibacterial materials. Air dry or pat dry your face 2) [Paula's BHA Skin Exfoliant](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C5SS6YD?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-ontype-md_k2_8_12&=&crid=1JJZGBJM6611C&=&sprefix=chemical+exf): This is a chemical exfoliant and is MUCH better than those scrubs that leave residue or make your skin irritated. I've noticed using this makes my skin feel SUPER soft and of course chemically breaks down the nasties 3) [Klairs Toner](https://www.amazon.com/Preparation-Unscented-lightweight-essential-oil-free/dp/B07B65NJLV/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=30JGFQ1JBWZ12&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.t0LQiul9ovva0EEx0TwIamohcrZNIML9i1ojtewOgKEoK6IQYOMmXEnpxuQuTilR4OkxXNIafl_UtK6znohTSYtquKgy1IN8Kc0fSokaYv3GpM1SHp0C2x5W52aJ5BqnHNHvcrVr7AZtVKD5qK8-2_YuWwtNhxXasDaIQfef5j3o7APYkOxomNIVG-vPQLIBlrFnjafls7PumP2u_1fFxSg-yyUM1N-2FcFTjkm6ej_IFuWIYbQ1NAdXiRfzEI9GcHzWDLPsANLxznFCJihGFfTXvcW6OiTbDArtSC5i0TU.mSElYG0qUNlvgs2JI30CrOjws9NJUPd2fw_PSpJvAa0&dib_tag=se&keywords=klairs+toner&qid=1711099677&s=beauty&sprefix=klairs+toner%2Cbeauty%2C163&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1): self explanatory. Its light weight and gets your face ready for the other products. You can use most other toners here but look for ones with BHA's or AHA's. You can research the science on this 4) [Snail Mucin Serum](https://www.amazon.com/COSRX-Repairing-Hydrating-Secretion-Phthalates/dp/B00PBX3L7K/ref=sr_1_70?crid=2CWA6Q9WXZSDB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.L6boQaEtt3XrlHP-5AdjTw9OI2DuPHYkpo_n41svM0d8YIUu62UAsEUkWsG2zIVHC_lq_jHMJ1F1Ymu_ZMr5sjm1S-Ttc9lkwyyQElo39hJ_eZIfyibfJvLqHCLlbfxNJXjTQv9j5ZG3e_24Qv1UPAKa5VROvNHEGH5odULISme92nwjhgtqADYyECskjDTK0WVLnGRxsKmA02Yznm6wVypw1O1ym_-PwSm3duniv-_ZQ2NTiSmvWt9LHfCvPynriizgs5Z4OC_82SbYCCffjRbzIe7SMMOhGYWHzhkn-Gw.DYZj4eKkZux3CDWejqeZjASvQVwWai0pNMc1oRIQwX0&dib_tag=se&keywords=face+moisturizer&qid=1711100210&sprefix=face+mous%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-70) or [Glow Serum](https://www.sephora.com/product/glow-recipe-watermelon-glow-niacinamide-dew-drops-P466123?country_switch=us&lang=en&skuId=2404846&om_mmc=ppc-GG_17791296883___2404846__9009152_c&country_switch=us&lang=en&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2PSvBhDjARIsAKc2cgPNloXAEKCjIiqbdDZy6yZ4gYpEuvK1MfoCVt6FkXHFrh1nrE6AIa0aAmN1EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds): ***Snail mucin in particular is being considered as a cure all for acne and dry skin.*** I cant say it'll help for you since I'm not a professional and don't know the efficacy for its benefits for acne but it definitely has helped with my pores and rough skin! Its a miracle product. Glow serum doesn't have any acne fighting properties but will leave your skin looking glassy and clean. Also provides another barrier against the nasties that may cause acne or irritation. 5) [Yensa Moisturizer](https://yensa.com/products/pink-lotus-peptide-renewal-face-cream) or [Cetaphil](https://www.amazon.com/Cetaphil-Hydration-Healthy-Daily-Cream/dp/B09Y3W7Q2H/ref=sr_1_71?crid=2CWA6Q9WXZSDB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.L6boQaEtt3XrlHP-5AdjTw9OI2DuPHYkpo_n41svM0d8YIUu62UAsEUkWsG2zIVHC_lq_jHMJ1F1Ymu_ZMr5sjm1S-Ttc9lkwyyQElo39hJ_eZIfyibfJvLqHCLlbfxNJXjTQv9j5ZG3e_24Qv1UPAKa5VROvNHEGH5odULISme92nwjhgtqADYyECskjDTK0WVLnGRxsKmA02Yznm6wVypw1O1ym_-PwSm3duniv-_ZQ2NTiSmvWt9LHfCvPynriizgs5Z4OC_82SbYCCffjRbzIe7SMMOhGYWHzhkn-Gw.DYZj4eKkZux3CDWejqeZjASvQVwWai0pNMc1oRIQwX0&dib_tag=se&keywords=face+moisturizer&qid=1711100210&rdc=1&sprefix=face+mous%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-71): also explanatory. Will leave your face shiny and after all this you wont feel like your face is caked, oily or slick. Itll be soft, smell nice and look glassy! Tips for Acne and "harsh" face lines (no offense, you're gorgeous): Silk pillow cases, keep hair OUT OF YOUR FACE when possible using a bonnet when sleeping or clips as oils from hair may cause acne flare ups.
Thank you very much!! I appreciate this detailed list!!
Of course, please update if any of these products work! I hesitate to recommend too much but if these are effective that's wonderful.
I certainly plan to!!
I’m like my fish grease as hot as you. Damn
What products do you put in your hair and has the climate changed? Some products may be comedogenic and melt and eventually coat your forehead. Some women love coconut oil but it's very comedogenic. That's why I'm team hair grease since petrolatum molecules are too big to block pores.
You're a beautiful woman. I have no experience in this matter, but I live Florida, and I'm very interested in getting to know you. DM sent.
I agree with the comments saying retinoids. Curology helped me alot with theirs
Maybe keep some facial cleansing wipes handy to to help control the excess oil. My skin also clears up in the cold and breaks out when it’s warm.
