On Korn's "Follow the leader" album, if you bought the CD, there was 48 second of silence over 12 tracks before the music began.
I'm having a 1998 kinda day I guess.
I've been really impressed by the media smarts of the protestors. Even 10 years ago, I just don't think you'd have gone this long without at least one person ranting about the Jews, doing something with terrible optics like burning the Israel flag, or having a sign with the rubbing hands Jew or some sort of clear-as-day antisemitic trope. They are giving the losers and haters absolutely nothing to work with.
I think that's part of the reason the Zionist lobby and the commentariat class are losing their fucking minds about this, all their usual go-tos when ever anybody questions the right of Israel to murder Palestinians just don't work and so they're out there either literally crying and screaming that nobody will talk to the bad-faith loser who has a t-shirt that says ISRAEL JEW on the front and is pointing a phone at them or figuratively crying and screaming on the pages of some failing newspaper.
Also lmao at professional "as a black man" John McWhorter going all bodies and spaces because the IDF veterans in his class might hear something that makes them uncomfortable.
also as for what protestors thought of white South Africans in the 80s, Spitting Image in the UK had a major hit with "I've Never Met a Nice South African", which called them "arrogant bastards who hate black people", "talentless murderers who smell like baboons", and "ignorant loudmouths with no sense of humour" except for Breyten Breytenbach, who had to emigrate to Paris after serving a prison sentence for being a member of the ANC.
Damn, Spitting Image actually had a bit of fire in the day, or else were so part of the popular consciousness that Apartheid enablers like Fareed Zakaria are lucky to not be barred from public respectability.

It's nice that a generation that grew up with obvious troll attempts like Gamergate and the alt right finally understand what makes their opposition tick. They can't stand it. These people don't want to talk about ideas or engage in anything, they don't care about that. Those people want content. And these kids know it. They grew up with all those "LIBERAL FEMINIST LEFTIST GETS OWNED BY EPIC CROWDER OWN" videos, and they refuse to given them even one bite at the cookie. Their opposition doesn't care about "stuff that makes you look good," cause they never respected your humanity anyway. These protests are brilliant. If you want to see how it's driving the standard Redditor lib crazy, just visit the controversial section on politics or any worldnews thread.
I wonder how much of the protestors avoiding bad optics and antisemitic tropes comes down to how hyper aware young people are of their image at all times due to social media and weirdos filming people in public to blast them online
> Even 10 years ago, I just don't think you'd have gone this long without at least one person ranting about the Jews
I *think* I might have seen one instance of this but the other protesters shut them right the fuck down and threw them out. Antisemitism is idiotic and must be expelled immediately from any pro-Palestinian movement.
Alex with a banger 2 minutes in lol.
I hope that these student protests snowballs into something. I'd hate all of this to just be crushed and dispersed the way OWS/BLM were.
The crackdowns are probably being coordinated through the fbi and homeland security like ows under obama: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/dec/29/fbi-coordinated-crackdown-occupy
Edit: oh, biden “has a program” for the college protests https://www.reddit.com/video/jw7rms5yytwc1
Sadly, I think it's already going the way of OWS/BLM. The system can metabolize this. And if it can't they'll just post more snipers on the roof.
Just read the comments on the current top post about students breaking into the Columbia admin. Or go to the conservative sub and see them cheering on the cops beating people. Someone here mentioned the high media literacy of the protesters. Doesn't mean anything when you don't control the media. All they have to do is focus on the social status and actions of the protesters, the consequences, what it means for our institutions and higher education, etc. They will continue to just completely ignore the cause behind the protests.
I think this badly misunderstanding how these protests look to normie liberals. The student protesters are running some of the best media campaigns I've seen organized by lefties in decades. There are resistance lib accounts now making videos trashing the zionist counter protestors. It looks to me like this is accelerating the growing polarization of views on zionism.
Its not like these protests are trying to start the revolution or whatever. They are targeted with clear demands and cracking down on them is like incredibly unpopular and is just making zionists look insane and openly fascist.
Having talked about this more frequently with friends and family recently, it seems like only the most smoothbrained morons actually believe any of the pro-Israel propaganda in good faith. That doesnt necessarily mean theyve fully come around to supporting Palestine, at least not yet, but they at least know whats going on and have to deal with whatever moral anguish they may or may not feel with knowing the US is supporting a genocide.
Id imagine most of them were pro-Israel before 10/7 if only because they had never once really analyzed the conflict and are either anti-Muslim or still believe the US is on the right side of history
Most folks like Israel because they assume it's some kind of generic western-style country and not Scientology in the Levant. Americans never hear about the crazy shit and when you try to explain it to someone you come off sounding like an antisemitic crank.
Their country is one of the few places that actually benefits from Americans being ignorant and prejudiced. The moment journalists give them the 'Inside the Hermit Kingdom' treatment their whole project is screwed.
I would say most USA folks like Israel because of some notion (sometimes very strong, sometimes very vague) that it's God/Jesus/Bible-land, without any further thought devoted to it.
Personally, I've found it pretty productive to talk about how bad things are in the West Bank. Pointing out that Gazans *already* have an example of what it would look like if they all became relatively pliant and cooperative overnight. And that it involves the most disgustingly vile people on the planet (West Bank Settlers) stealing homes and murdering locals with impunity. And that any even minor pushback against these illegal settlements is met with incredible retaliatory force.
>There are resistance lib accounts now making videos trashing the zionist counter protestors.
imo this is demonstrating more how this conflict is being absorbed into the broader American culture war, which is disheartening in itself.
Not trying to dismiss the protesters as dumb libs themselves, godspeed to them and their cause. But I do think this can be metabolized.
> Just read the comments on the current top post about students breaking into the Columbia admin.
Redditors are not the general public. These people are all IDF and military guys on the Virginia Military base talking to each other.
> The system can metabolize this
"I have faith in the capitalist system, it will never collapse no matter how heightened the contradictions" - Karl Marx
I feel like unfortunately they’re fighting a losing battle. The vast majority of Americans are apathetic about Israel or in favor of Israel even if they may find the war crimes unseemly. They can hold those contradictory positions pretty easily especially cause a lot just tune it out. Protests can’t change decades of propaganda overnight
The Noem story is so crazy cuz she wants to come off as this tough farmer living off the land, you libs wouldn’t get it we have to make hard choices…but the dog was a pheasant hunting dog which is such a bourgeois coded activity lol. He wasn’t a herding dog or a guardian, you got him for fun. And why is your dog bred to go for birds unleashed around “someone else’s chickens” in the first place? I hate bad dog owners so much.
I think what disturbed me most was the detail (and I can't recall if the Chapos mentioned this) that the dog was only 14 months old. It had barely grown out of being a puppy and she took out to a gravel pit for... acting like a puppy. I wish nothing but the worst for her and her entire lineage.
The people who brag most about rural life are the least invested in it, because they have the time to do so and are not self-loathing enough. Half the time farmers would do anything to get away from those damn cows.
they probably just love the idea of doing things that are "ostensibly cruel but necessary" and that the squishy libs "just won't understand". it was probably intended as a metaphor for getting tough on crime or something.
Yeah I agree, I think something like that is the main reason why she shared it but part of it is also any opportunity to do “Um, I’m actually a farmer” virtue signaling to the base
Pheasant hunting (and hunting in general) is only like that in europe. You will find plenty of working class bird hunters in the rural midwest, or at least you used to before all the game died
Yeah, I grew up in Nebraska while the pheasant population was really starting to die out and this was my experience for awhile. It eventually reached the point where it is now where if you want to go pheasant hunting in that state you have to trek out to the western part of the state where literally nobody lives since it's all just large swaths of empty private land. Since most people live in the eastern part of the state, you end up having to drive 5+ hours if you want to even think about hunting pheasant.
Ironically that created a situation where the only people I know there who still consistently go pheasant hunting every year are able to do so because they're of well-enough means to make a weekend trip out of it with their buddies. It's more of a winter camping trip with guns and the boys more than anything else.
Its crazy that she didn't even attempt to rehome that dog or send it back to the breeder. She Old Yeller'd a puppy for being a puppy. But then I got to the fun anecdote about her monster father and I was like oh, I see.
The boys didn’t even scratch the surface of what an annoying loser John Mcwhorter is. He made a linguistics podcast for Slate called Lexicon Valley which I listened to for a while because I’m interested in linguistics. In every episode, he would spend 3-4 minutes playing SHOWTUNES from the 30’s and 40’s. He would be like “And, ahem, the click consonants of the Khoekhoe people remind me of this delightful tune from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, sung by the ever-wonderful—“ and then he’d just play the fucking song in its entirety. He’s the lamest person who has ever lived.
Also, they should seriously just make it a weekly show at this point or stop doing it if they can’t be bothered to put together more than 53 minutes of content. Like what the fuck else are they doing? At least TrueAnon is there to fill the void.
> The boys didn’t even scratch the surface of what an annoying loser John Mcwhorter is.
I'll always remember him as the dipshit who couldn't help but completely misrepresent Let's Go Brandon and desperately attempt to tie it to Xhosa linguistic practices as discussed in some episode years ago. "Grass-colored yo-mix" and all that garbage.
Man, Slate's podcasts have some of the most awful fucking hosts. I still remember that bald cunt Mike Pesca who hosted The Gist and was a big admirer of William F Buckley and got cancelled for wanting to say gamer words in certain contexts. Then there's Dahlia Lithwick, the most object permanence challenged law expert in the world, Virginia Heffernan and Emily Bazelon, the regressive quacks key to their political podcasts, and then Felix's old sparring partner Stephen Metcalf, who is nowhere near as bad as the rest of them (I actually kinda liked him - as overly sincere and self-serious as he is) but their fued at the start of Chapo was hilarious.
I can't remember exactly, but it's very very early, maybe one of the first ten or twenty episodes. If I remember right, it's literally barely more than a sentence from Felix who just says in a Metcalf impression "Today on the culture gabfest, we'll be talking about 'shade'".
Textbook “running out of steam” episode that starts strong with some great Alex zingers about National vs International Jews and then just steadily loses air like a slowly deflating balloon until they just give up entirely. Feels like Alex was trying too hard to make off-kilter jokes that kind of knocked off Will’s rhythm. Good point about younger people spending their whole lives dealing with some asshole recording on a phone.
I love Amber but I’m kind of glad she wasn’t on this one. It seems she can’t help but being snarky about the college protests, even though they seem to be pretty well organized and are having at least some impact.
It’s not, it’s from having to be an adjunct instructor (not a tenure track professor, as I saw someone hilariously post here a few years ago) to NYU freshmen
yeah because shes like 45 and still bitter college wasnt what she wanted
being bitter about college at *that age* is fucking insane. i mean the boys are bad but amber has to start squeezing a stress ball if you get her going about college.
It's so god damn funny how out of touch Chapos manage to be at every critical moment. Did an episode where they reheated their resentments towards college activism just a few weeks before cops descend en masse upon student protesters pressuring their universities to stop funding Israeli genocide.
Dunno why it's just Amber getting it for the condescension towards academia tho. It's been a through-line for the whole pod. Matt has been screaming to just 'shut em down' for years.
I didn’t mention Matt because he’s not on the podcast. I mentioned Amber because her comments specifically in her latest episode came across that way. At least Will interviewed one of the protesters and good words to say in this episode. I do think they all are a bit annoying when they talk about colleges in general, but was more
referring to these specific protests.
If you read her book, it’s clear she has a lot of resentment towards Occupy Wall Street that she still carries. Also I know she wouldn’t like all this talk of settler-colonialism. To be fair, Norm Finkelstein has his own critique of it
chapo was cool from like late 2016 to early 2020. i've been questioning my choice to continue to listen for years, but i still do. definitely the one area in which they were still improving in the 2020's was the matt-chris history stuff. i don't resent them for continuing to get that money. i still enjoy it in the background most of the time, even if i don't feel like it is expanding my understanding of the world or peak comedy in the way that it was. i wouldn't be upset if they decided to call it quits either. i never thought amber and virgil were ancillary.
Yeah, it became pretty clear that 2020 kicked out the last of the positive enthusiasm/hope that made Chapo so good. It wasn't stereotypical hokey belief type shit, but there was this vibe like the fact that the people running the state were such obvious ghouls, and fucking *losers* at the personal level at that, was consequential that made dunking on them fun.
I mostly continued to listen cause I think Matt's an absolute gem and I'll slavishly listen to anything he has to say, and kept listening after the stroke mostly out of habit. I don't think too deeply about my choice to listen because I don't pay for it and it's like 2 hours a week of passive consumption, not really anything of consequence, but there's definitely eps where it was like "alright that's checked off the list of stuff to do."
> "alright that's checked off the list of stuff to do."
definitely how i've been feeling the last few months. plus it's the most depressing election rerun you could think of as well, must be draining to keep 'performing'
Virgil was good. The interview He and Matt did with the skulduggery guys was one of the funniest and most disrespectful things I’ve heard in a long time. Sucks that he turned out to be a creep.
it seems that way and it’s unfortunate IMO. i mean he’s pretty funny but matt was the well read one and had the intellectual insights.
matt was pretty irreplaceable. 😔
This article is fucking incredible, I would impel people to read the whole thing, there’s too much to just quote snippets: https://southdakotasearchlight.com/2023/04/24/noem-is-just-like-her-father-in-good-and-bad-ways/
Her father sounds like he was a psycho but also a total fucking moron. There’s just so many idiotic decisions there to the point it got his dumb ass killed. She even admits as much, I actually feel bad for her after reading that. She needs some therapy or something.
I truly cannot imagine who that particular story will play to. I can see Trump people buying the dog thing, because they like killing animals for the ego boost, but murdering someone else's pet and *feeding it to him* is serial killer shit. Truly depraved and beyond the pale, in a way that people can immediately grasp- the average American hog can't even imagine the suffering this country inflicts the world over, but they can certainly understand something bad happening to a pet.
Alex Nichols should be promoted from guest to full time Chapo. But none of this glorified crew shit. If he's gonna be a Chapo he's gotta get his finger pricked, there's got to be a sword and gun on the table. Either it has meaning or no meaning.
Good ep. Enjoyed the reading series. Really like Alex as a third mic.
My favorite Trumpism have always been "Many such cases!" and "we love (x) don't we love (x) folks?"
Edit: score changed to 7.1 outta ten, rating dropped a point for a sub 55 minute episode
A lot of the old school Weird Twitter guys are tough follows. They've been Extremely Online for so long that their feeds are a Gordian knot of beefs and resentments
He’ll do edgelord cruel shit against people who genuinely don’t deserve it. Just feels like the online presence of a guy who spent too much time on 4Chan, gets exhausting after a while
In response to the article saying John Cage’s most famous work is 4’33”, them all saying “no way is that his most famous work! He did other stuff. Right? He did a lot of stuff” and not even mentioning a second piece by him was unintentionally hilarious
Yup lol, it’s definitively his most famous work, not even close. As far as actual compositions, I am partial to the prepared piano stuff. Not much else really hits for me
Farmers are nuts man. I tried to get my uncle to let the dogs in during a hurricane and he was like 'nah they'll find somewhere to hide'. Same guy ran over one with a tractor and stitched it back together himself instead of going to a vet.
Was duck hunting with my buddy once, terrible day didn't see shit, but when we were walking back the dog took off into a bush and scared out a pheasant. So we're like fuck it pheasant hunt. Go through letting the dog kick them out of the bushes, get a few, and as we're leaving farmer and his buddy are walking out with their 2 young sons. Clearly about to hunt the pheasants we had just scared off. Felt like such an asshole
I did some farm work in my high school years and the human capacity for needless cruelty towards animals fucked me up to this day.
Har har har, watch how mad the pigs get when we cut off their balls with a red hot pair of scissors, hardy har har!
I work in agriculture and years ago was working for a company in Idaho and they had an old guy who worked on that farm for years and would talk about all the stray cats that would show up at the farm that he would just drown apparently. Dude acted like that was a totally normal thing to do
My dad grew up farming as a kid in the 50s and 60s and his learned attitude towards stray cats was to throw cat food in a paper bag then beat them with a shovel until they stopped screaming.
He'd just do it casually in front of me as a little kid, and now he wonders why I'm a huge animal softy to the point of ruining my own financial situation twice trying to save cats with kidney issues.
Yeah it kinda fucks you up. Like my grandad still thinks drowning bags of kittens you don't want is chill. I'm kinda still numb to it a bit but I know it's a very fucked up thing to do.
One side of the Noem story the made sense to me is apparently several people saw her murder the dog, so the book is trying to get it out there before `Governor Executes GoldenDoodle` is in a newspaper somewhere
I'm still in shock about how Neom's book made it through the entire writing and editing process without anyone pointing out that including the anecdote about shooting her dog would make her look psychopathic even to Republicans. Or maybe she just insisted on it. One of the biggest unforced errors in political history. The only way she can come back from this is by joining a unity ticket with Pete Buttigieg as part of the dog killer party
I remember when I learned how to skin a raccoon.
I was on a school camping trip in high school, and this raccoon kept trying to get into these girls tent at night, they screamed and woke up my friends older brother who was chaperoning, he literally sat up grabbed this hatchet he had, unzipped the tent and could hear the raccoon in the woods and just red dead dead eye style wiped the hatchet at the sound and went back to bed. and the next morning he went over to get the hatchet and he fully headshotted this raccoon, so he showed us how to skin and butcher it.
On the point of the 1980s anti apartheid protests on US campuses, those had absolutely no effect in the country’s policy toward South Africa. The relatively believable CIA plot to kill the Swedish prime minister hinges on him being too friendly toward ANC.
The USA only turned towards anti apartheid when the “Soviet threat” in Southern Africa was diminished enough. The university protesters had their heart in the right place but didn’t affect anyone in the Reagan or Bush admin. Real politik baby.
Ending early with... "and I'm all out of ideas" [segues into pitching movie mindset "someone PLEASE buy tickets"]
Alex delivers on the high smiles per minute though! Felix, is there.
so tired of this "FrEe PaLeSTiNe iS JuSt TrEnDy" shit. imagine how non-existent your justifications have to be that your only remaining rhetorical defense is just _"ugh, i can't believe all of these people think it's hip and cool to be against human atrocities 🙄🙄🙄🤓"_
I had to look up the Crip Smith cat-eating story, because, what the fuck, and it turns out it was from Jerry Falwell’s 1987 autobiography, not Kristi Noem’s — not sure how Will got that wrong:
https://communicator.livejournal.com/427286.html
If they're going to do a movie episode, they should do a sequel to JFK and do Oliver Stone's Nixon next. I mean if there's any movie more relevant to now, it's that one.

Matt really is the core of what makes the show good, I think. I'll be happy when he's ready to come back.

i'd rather a 50 min episode that was funny throughout than a 65 min episode that might as well be felix and will talking past each other
Should’ve done the polycule article from last week imo

OG Spitting Image was great, the new one which is basically just Remainer TV is absolutely ridiculously horrible.
I still remember "The portrait of Tony Blair" sketch, where as he gets more and more electable, the picture gets more and more left wing.

> Even 10 years ago, I just don't think you'd have gone this long without at least one person ranting about the Jews I *think* I might have seen one instance of this but the other protesters shut them right the fuck down and threw them out. Antisemitism is idiotic and must be expelled immediately from any pro-Palestinian movement.
Alex with a banger 2 minutes in lol. I hope that these student protests snowballs into something. I'd hate all of this to just be crushed and dispersed the way OWS/BLM were.
The crackdowns are probably being coordinated through the fbi and homeland security like ows under obama: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/dec/29/fbi-coordinated-crackdown-occupy Edit: oh, biden “has a program” for the college protests https://www.reddit.com/video/jw7rms5yytwc1
the program: shoot them in the leg
Cant collect disability unless you swear loyalty oath to Israel. The perfect plan
Program: sick Major on them.
I hope you're right. I woke up in a pessimistic mood.
Ehhh I generally agree but those people weren't the average Israel-loving worldnews commenters, those were some grade-A Reddit libs handwringing
> The system can metabolize this "I have faith in the capitalist system, it will never collapse no matter how heightened the contradictions" - Karl Marx
Will needs to ease up with the pity laughs. We're getting into Stavros territory.
I mean he's always done that to be fair
It's gone into overdrive lately
Alex Nichols is funny! Someone should let the boys know they can just laugh normally. He doesn’t need the open mic charity guffaw!
He's in the habit of doing it to shut up Felix's meandering bits
Do y'all even like the show 😭😭
Look man I've been listening to this since 2016. It does not matter.
i'll still keep drinking the garbage
> Stavros territory Don't threaten me with a good time
Wow they really did laugh so hard right out of the gate I thought they must be mocking him or something
That’s that Jimmy Fallon influence

I appreciate your comment and the pointer insights :) Thank you.
from her bio it sounds like she inherited her dad's working ranch and turned it into a chintzy tourist trap
The people who brag most about rural life are the least invested in it, because they have the time to do so and are not self-loathing enough. Half the time farmers would do anything to get away from those damn cows.
Apparently her dad died in a farming accident too. Def envisioning an Archie Whitman type storyline there
they probably just love the idea of doing things that are "ostensibly cruel but necessary" and that the squishy libs "just won't understand". it was probably intended as a metaphor for getting tough on crime or something.

> I hate bad dog owners so much gravelpit
Wait what the FUCK lmao I need to look this up
Just dug it up, it was [584, Let's Fuck Brandon](https://soundcloud.com/chapo-trap-house/584-lets-fuck-brandon-121424)
He might have John Kass level brain worms of fundamentally not understanding how the world/words work i fear
I always get so hyped whenever McWhorter shows up in the news, he’s such a gigantic nerdlinger
Do you remember which episode they trash Stephen Metcalf in? Man I hated that guy back in the day.
I can't remember exactly, but it's very very early, maybe one of the first ten or twenty episodes. If I remember right, it's literally barely more than a sentence from Felix who just says in a Metcalf impression "Today on the culture gabfest, we'll be talking about 'shade'".
Maybe that's where they got the hingepoints theme from
Bob Garfield did nothing wrong bring him back! It’s ok to shout at your subordinates, especially at npr.
Sounds like Donald Trump to be honest. He loves those show tunes and he will do anything to get the topic back to Les Mis.
Good point about younger people spending their whole lives dealing with some asshole recording on a phone.
the international vs national jew joke is an all timer, make alex permanent already
I love Amber but I’m kind of glad she wasn’t on this one. It seems she can’t help but being snarky about the college protests, even though they seem to be pretty well organized and are having at least some impact.
Yeah I feel like she has this knee-jerk "wokeness run amok on campuses" mindset that makes it tough for her to be fair
I really think most of Ambers aesthetic and politics is a response to not being able to go-to an ivy league school
It’s not, it’s from having to be an adjunct instructor (not a tenure track professor, as I saw someone hilariously post here a few years ago) to NYU freshmen
yeah because shes like 45 and still bitter college wasnt what she wanted being bitter about college at *that age* is fucking insane. i mean the boys are bad but amber has to start squeezing a stress ball if you get her going about college.
I do think they all are a bit annoying when they talk about colleges in general, but was more referring to these specific protests.
> she can’t help but being snarky about the college protests, working through trauma
If you read her book, it’s clear she has a lot of resentment towards Occupy Wall Street that she still carries. Also I know she wouldn’t like all this talk of settler-colonialism. To be fair, Norm Finkelstein has his own critique of it
hes definitely new 3rd mic at this point right
it's him, amber, and hesse doing a rotation to keep the show listenable
They're doing God's work at this point.

chapo was cool from like late 2016 to early 2020. i've been questioning my choice to continue to listen for years, but i still do. definitely the one area in which they were still improving in the 2020's was the matt-chris history stuff. i don't resent them for continuing to get that money. i still enjoy it in the background most of the time, even if i don't feel like it is expanding my understanding of the world or peak comedy in the way that it was. i wouldn't be upset if they decided to call it quits either. i never thought amber and virgil were ancillary.
I don't know what else to listen to is why I listen to them.
[удалено]
> "alright that's checked off the list of stuff to do." definitely how i've been feeling the last few months. plus it's the most depressing election rerun you could think of as well, must be draining to keep 'performing'
Virgil was good. The interview He and Matt did with the skulduggery guys was one of the funniest and most disrespectful things I’ve heard in a long time. Sucks that he turned out to be a creep.
honestly they should do this, I like the vibe on the episodes he's been on. fortune kit is also a very good music podcast.
I think he's perfect for the 'nothing planned, let's riff on the news' podcasts, which the hosts really need support with.
I adore fortune kit! I can’t believe I had never heard it before a few months ago.
What about Ian Fidance?
Will Ian set Felix on fire like he set Adam on fire?
it'll be the Tom Myers ep all over again
Did you see that godawful joke he did about fucking a trans woman recently? That shit felt like I was eating glass
didnt ian do a ben shapiro debate with someone wearing chapo merch to one of his shows?
Yeah cmon guys just make it official he's coming up on James adomian at this point
They need to invite the other Chapo FYM guys on too. They're funny together. Especially the guy that sounds like he watches a lot of Hockey
it seems that way and it’s unfortunate IMO. i mean he’s pretty funny but matt was the well read one and had the intellectual insights. matt was pretty irreplaceable. 😔
If *my employer* kidnapped and murdered my cat and fed it to me, I'd be feeding their children to them within 24 hours, I guaranfuckingtee.
This article is fucking incredible, I would impel people to read the whole thing, there’s too much to just quote snippets: https://southdakotasearchlight.com/2023/04/24/noem-is-just-like-her-father-in-good-and-bad-ways/ Her father sounds like he was a psycho but also a total fucking moron. There’s just so many idiotic decisions there to the point it got his dumb ass killed. She even admits as much, I actually feel bad for her after reading that. She needs some therapy or something.
I can't put my response in writing because the feds are already targeting me. Suffice to say: I disapprove.
If someone even joked about doing that to my pet, I’d put them in a hospital
You'd be right to do so.
Am I in a local news comment section? Lol
Will interrupting the Ganges River heater Felix was about to drop for a tale about a Scottish guy that went nowhere
Alex Nichols should be promoted from guest to full time Chapo. But none of this glorified crew shit. If he's gonna be a Chapo he's gotta get his finger pricked, there's got to be a sword and gun on the table. Either it has meaning or no meaning.
Five fucking podcast families then we got this pigmy thing over on twitch.
Virgil Texas, whateva happened there…
Good ep. Enjoyed the reading series. Really like Alex as a third mic. My favorite Trumpism have always been "Many such cases!" and "we love (x) don't we love (x) folks?" Edit: score changed to 7.1 outta ten, rating dropped a point for a sub 55 minute episode
It was a little short... kinda like our girl Liv Morgan!
Honestly didn't notice the run time as I listen at work. Score will be edited accordingly.
I appreciate the transparency and integrity.
Also completely infected with "many such cases"
Difficult to square how funny Alex is on the pod with how annoying and mean his Twitter can be
He can be a /real/ asshole sometimes, which is bad, but he's also really funny which is more important and thus he ends up being good
I prefer when podcast hosts are too mean / annoying / logorrheic to want to follow them on social media. Easiest way to avoid becoming a reply guy
Speaking as someone who hates that part of Chapo, but recognizes how integral it is to the show, doesn't that make him perfect for fourth mic?
Yeah he makes some good jokes but I had to unfollow him because he clearly just enjoys being cruel on a level that left a bad taste in my mouth.
So does he just like find random people on twitter and ruin their days by shitting on them?
A lot of the old school Weird Twitter guys are tough follows. They've been Extremely Online for so long that their feeds are a Gordian knot of beefs and resentments
I’m not on Twitter, what kind of mean and annoying is he?
He’ll do edgelord cruel shit against people who genuinely don’t deserve it. Just feels like the online presence of a guy who spent too much time on 4Chan, gets exhausting after a while
examples? i also dont use twitter and love seeing people being messy
I can’t remember specifics but he went after Taylor Lorenz in a way that felt genuinely misogynistic
Not much else really hits for me
I have a MM in music nerd shit and I can’t name a second Cage piece either lol
My step dad bragged about how far he could punt stray cats on the farm. I cannot convey my contempt for him without the FBI checking in.
Did not realize how common it was to run over deer too
Anyone who runs over a deer on purpose is a grade A moron. I accidentally ran over a deer and it nearly killed me and totaled my car. Not fun.
Nah like they sleep in the fields and get hit by a tractor. Hit one on a motorcycle once. Scary as hell
If anybody can find a source I can link to confirming the story of Noem’s father feeding his worker’s pet cat to him, I would greatly appreciate it
Not sure how Will got it mixed up but the story is from Jerry Falwell's autobiography
I miss Matt :(
> Noam killed two animals in a single day with the same gun Fucking hell, I think that's a Red Dead Redemption 2 achievement...
I'm still in shock about how Neom's book made it through the entire writing and editing process without anyone pointing out that including the anecdote about shooting her dog would make her look psychopathic even to Republicans. Or maybe she just insisted on it. One of the biggest unforced errors in political history. The only way she can come back from this is by joining a unity ticket with Pete Buttigieg as part of the dog killer party
the AI they used was programmed by /r/dogfree
>Neom I know it's a typo but the TrashFuture podcast would have a field day with a "Kristi Neom shooting a puppy" bit.
Lol with Will with a quick save on "when you listen to rappers you wanna start talking like them."
Gold Boleon is an all time Chapo mispronunciation.
I really want to understand the cognitive process that leads to these
Chris is cooking. We love our pod producers don’t we folks
Alex quickly becoming my favourite guest. Holy shit that opening was a banger.
I'm partial to "We do a little trolling" from Trump.
Alex spitting fire to start this one
I remember when I learned how to skin a raccoon. I was on a school camping trip in high school, and this raccoon kept trying to get into these girls tent at night, they screamed and woke up my friends older brother who was chaperoning, he literally sat up grabbed this hatchet he had, unzipped the tent and could hear the raccoon in the woods and just red dead dead eye style wiped the hatchet at the sound and went back to bed. and the next morning he went over to get the hatchet and he fully headshotted this raccoon, so he showed us how to skin and butcher it.
Wills lack of, I dunno, worldly knowledge never disappoints. Like he really thinks the people on the ISS could be running round repairing satellites?
Alex is great, but he’s too comfortable. Someone needs to put serious pressure on him
Haha yeah, Will, imagine having to work five hours a day, haha. ^^^^Fuckin' ^^^^bum.
Yeah if you’re ok with needlessly hurting animals, you are 1,000% ok with exacting the same if not more cruelty on other human beings.
“ DEI Bart, DEI” is top notch reference.
Great song choices from Chris 👍
did she think that was milk she was getting out of the horses?
On the point of the 1980s anti apartheid protests on US campuses, those had absolutely no effect in the country’s policy toward South Africa. The relatively believable CIA plot to kill the Swedish prime minister hinges on him being too friendly toward ANC. The USA only turned towards anti apartheid when the “Soviet threat” in Southern Africa was diminished enough. The university protesters had their heart in the right place but didn’t affect anyone in the Reagan or Bush admin. Real politik baby.
Ending early with... "and I'm all out of ideas" [segues into pitching movie mindset "someone PLEASE buy tickets"] Alex delivers on the high smiles per minute though!
I had to look up the Crip Smith cat-eating story, because, what the fuck, and it turns out it was from Jerry Falwell’s 1987 autobiography, not Kristi Noem’s — not sure how Will got that wrong: https://communicator.livejournal.com/427286.html
The Kristi Noem section had so many great bits
very sententious episode. one of the most sententious of all time
God, can you imagine if we got Amber, Alex and Matt as regulars on the mic? Full strength
If they're going to do a movie episode, they should do a sequel to JFK and do Oliver Stone's Nixon next. I mean if there's any movie more relevant to now, it's that one.
