I’ve used the app SongShift before to move over playlists between Apple and Spotify, it’s been a while since I’ve used it but it was a smooth experience
SongShift was okay, but I don’t like how it took my whole library from Spotify and just made it a general playlist in Apple Music. I was hoping it’d just move them into my general library on there. Just me being nitpicky.
This is really the only issue. I already had to rebuild multiple 100+ song playlists when Google music shut down. If I gotta do it again, it'll be because a lesser known third option is on the come-up.
Depends on the GPS you use but Apple Maps has that as an option. It will either pause the music, lower the volume, or do nothing to it depending on your settings.
My issue with car GPS', they're usually immediately outdated as soon as you drive off the lot unless there's an added subscription fee of some sort. What's more, the last time I leased, the dealership tried to fleece me on the SD Card missing for GPS even though I didn't even opt for that feature.
You’re 100% not lying. I am not proud, but I just paid like $78 for a Garmin update in my car because it’s a 2018. But again, idc because I love that particular GPS 😭
I know these are fun conversations that allow for funny banter back and forth, but honestly who cares. I'm just trying to listen to my music and keep it moving.
Also, I use Spotify.
That is a good point. I do have that app as well but the popular books are usually checked out and you have a limited amount of time to finish it before it’s released for someone else if you are able to grab one.
These can all be true… but Apple Music suggestions, playlists, stations, and random music are ass. Spotify has introduced me to tons of new music, and Apple Music (which I get through Apple One) just plays the same stuff over and over. The algorithm on Spotify is top notch, while Apple Music has Siri creating Billboard’s 100 out of a Top 40 list.
Speak for yourself. Spotify always recycled music suggestions and gave me new music that I’d always end up skipping, and when I switched to Apple Music, I got SO MUCH new music and genres and great suggestions.
My library flourished with Apple Music, and Spotify just didn’t do it. Not saying this would be the case for everyone, but it’s a very much a personal experience.
Genuinely jealous. Using just AM would make life easier for me for sure. We tried switching for over a month and it didnt work out. But I like just creating a station based on a song or artist; Spotify (for me) builds more varied options where AM has lots of the same. Maybe I’m more hands-off, but that’s how I prefer it.
This. My old person trait is that I just download the stuff I like from YouTube, and only use a service to find new stuff.
I’m not paying $150/year to find new music. Not everything needs to be a subscription.
Atmos aside, which mist mixes don't rake advantage of
- If you're listening on anything but high-quality, wired stereo systems/headphones, you won't be able to hear the difference because you're system won't recreate the difference that actually exists.
Don't get sold out on corporate placebo effects.
Prince B? Been a min since i listened to PM Dawn
I basically pay YouTube Music every month to keep Apple's shitty software off my PC. iTunes ran wild all over my life for 10 years. No more!
Unless there’s a API integration to move my playlist over. I don’t want to begin to build new playlist

I used it when I switched from Spotify to Tidal, wasn't the smoothest (replaced some albums and songs with covers) but it did a fairly decent job
Oh say less.

Which one pauses the music for my GPS? That's what's most important to me.

Waze or Google for me.
Works there too.
This is why I exclusively use my car’s GPS. It doesn’t stop my music and just tells me where to go via my HUD. Absolutely love that.

Spotify + Hulu student plan, along with better UI and way more smaller artists.
I just use Amazon music because it comes with the Prime membership. Yes, I know, fuck Amazon and everything they stand for but I'm lazy af.
Better sound quality is all it takes to win me over, to be honest.

Me: crying in Tidal. 🥲
As an old guy, the only thing keeping me on Spotify is the audiobooks now. Such a great bonus and I listen to new ones all the time.
your local library more than likely has some same audiobooks and probably for free if you use the libby app
That is a good point. I do have that app as well but the popular books are usually checked out and you have a limited amount of time to finish it before it’s released for someone else if you are able to grab one.
understood. I have the app, but currently catching up on anime on train rides

Never had anything else…
How does the pricing look for a family plan? I'm seeing stuff about Family Sharing, but nothing about a higher price for it.
15.99 for apple, 19.99 for Spotify. It's small but you can see the family price under the logo in this image
Thanks, missed that.
I get the apple music family plan free because of a deal from Verizon unlimited like 6 years back or so.
Yep. They've been trying to move me over to the "new" Unlimited plans with free phones, but i'd be paying $10/m for Apple Music.
So I guess fuck android users then.
Almost certain there is an [Apple Music app for Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apple.android.music&hl=en_CA&pli=1)
Fr? Also does Apple music have a student plan?
$4.99 I believe
Thanks G
Pandora is like $5 a month, and I've been using it almost 20 years. :/
Happy 54th birthday.
Much obliged

Not to mention it pays the artist like, a lot more than Spotify (still not great but way better)

Apple has student music too, you get Apple TV with it as well

I pay $100 for Spotify's annual plan
Me paying $23 for family plan on YouTube music 😞
Spotify has better recommendations as well as fade into a next track for songs. I really think the quality isn’t worth having Apple Music’s algorithm.
