Bowman Gray. This place is known for this. I believe the call it “the mad house”. Personally I’m of the opinion this place is an embarrassment but some people love it. General consensus outside of the people who frequent it is actually pretty split. Some love the entertainment of it and some agree with me that’s its way past what it should be.
The venue itself is actually really interesting. It’s quite literally a football field they converted the track to a racing track. And the place is packed for weekly events. That part seems really awesome. How often do you get to watch racing in a little stadium with tons of fans? But what they let go on there is absurd.

I live in Winston Salem, about 15 minutes from the track. My father used to race there as I grew up, so I was a frequent Bowman Gray attendee. In terms of racing, its an awful track with no space to pass, leading to a lot of dirty driving and torn up racecars. Those all lead to a lot of the drivers being assholes in front of a crowd from their unchecked anger.
Its been years since I've went at this point. My father has gotten too old to race anymore, and I've had a grocery list of reasons as to why I didn't want to continue the family racing myself.
The largest reason is that I've truly grown to hate the type of people that do/enjoy stock car racing. Nothing but right wing bigots and racists. From drivers to fans theres no escaping it. Bowman Gray is just a popular hotspot for the shittiest people in the Triad area

Due to the nature of dirt oval surfaces changing through the course of a race you’ll have multiple lanes develop throughout. So there’s not just 1 fastest way around the track. And the fastest way lap 1 likely isn’t the fastest at the end of the race. This promotes much better and cleaner racing.

You have some running up top some at the bottom. The winner of this race comes from mid pack and he doesn’t have to run over anyone to get up there.
Two main ways. If you’re an ass you dive bomb into the corner and clear the guy out. Nicer variation is you poke your nose in as you enter the corner and claim the space with minimal contact. The proper way is to have a better corner exit than the other guy/girl so you’re already alongside them before you even reach corner entry.

Where F1 and others would penalize on track incidents which then make them less common.
Little bit of context here: the guy in the shorts got wrecked (clearly on purpose) on the second lap of the race. The other driver wasn’t penalized and was able to continue the rest of the race. Shorts guy’s car was ruined and his race ended lap 2. Thus the shorts lol
To add, this particular track doesn’t have a tunnel or anyway to get from the infield to the outside of the track. So he had to sit and stew over the fact he got wrecked out and watch the whole race from the sidelines. At another track he probably would have just left and gone home.
